What a healthy amount of weight to lose in a week or month?

I’m a 22 year old female and want to lose weight over the course of this year. I intend on improving my eating habits as well as do daily cardio. I will be be keeping track of my daily calorie intake as well as tracking my weight every week. I don’t want to over work my body, don’t want to lose too much weight in such a short time, nor not push myself hard enough to burn the fat. What is considered a healthy amount of weight to lose a week or in a month?

Like what the others have already said 900-1000 calories is VERY low. Also 1 week is not a lot of time and much of what you lose will be water weight.

If its around your torso (stomach and moobs) do mad sit ups and push ups, i saw results in like 5 days.

I’ve been doing Weight Watchers for four weeks. I lost a lot less weight this week, but did nothing different in my dieting.

1. First start by getting up earlier than usual. Around 5:30 AM to do some of you workouts. Getting up early shocks your metabolism because the body needs more energy to get going. Right? This will start your system on the road to weight loss. That early start with about 10 minutes of stretching. Have a cup of coffee to get the blood going also.

2. Do all the sit-ups you can. Just do them. 15 or 20 whatever, we don’t have a lot of time to work with. Rest 1 minute repeat, do this for 6 sets. Already you are breathing hard and feel worn, because the body is working extra hard at being up earlier and then going right into exercise. If the early morning hour lets you get your cardio in, go ahead and do it. 30 minutes.

3. Diet. Cut all current meal portions in half, just cut them in half, nothing fancy or complicated, CUT IN HALF! Cut out all bread products, all gravies, candies, chips, night snacks, etc. If you crave at night eat a banana, other fruit or best a non-fat yogurt. There are some tasty ones out there.

4. In the evening do another 6 sets of sit-ups maxing out each set. Cardio again. The trick is to stay with getting up earlier. Yes it’s hard, that’s why it is so effective. Why do you think the Army gets up so early, it is intense training to the max.

Are weight loss supplements dangerous or do they work?

I am doing some weight training for the first time. I love working out and want the best possible results. I’m seeking to become a personal trainer, do some excersise videos, and be in a few fitness magazines. Do weight loss supplements, such as hydroxycut or slimquik, really work? Are they dangerous for your body? How do they work?

Theyre ripoffs… And they arent healthy for you..if you read fine print they tell you to eat right and exercise so that tells you that they dont work.. So its better just to do it the old fashioned way, eat right and exercise!

There are no vitamins or supplements that will help you lose weight. If you keep to a well balanced healthy diet then you will take in everything you need on those lines.

Count the calories, spread out the meals to keep your appetite in control drink enough water and exercise. Doing this will lose you weight.

There are plenty of places to find out recommended calorie needs etc.

Avoid extreme diet like Atkins. These do leave you short of essentials. And moreover they are often boring and therefore hard to stick to.

Is it bad to take energy weight loss supplements before working out to boost stamina?

I recently discovered that when I take energy weight loss supplements before a work-out that I am able to work-out longer without getting tired as quickly as I would without taking them. I tend to work-out in the evenings starting out with running. (The supplement I am taking is the Quick Trim the ISO-BURN AM.)

PS. 75% of people who use weight loss supplements gain back their lost weight and usually gain even more weight.

VYou need to do cardio! When I say that you have to work hard and get your heart rate up. So many people say they do cardio but they walk or job leisurely on the treadmill or elliptical. Running is the best way to shred excess fat (make sure you have good knees). It’s not about losing 2 or 3 pounds here and there because it is very easy to gain it back. You have to change the complexion of how your body functions. Consistency is the key. The more you workout your metabolism will burn fat at a higher rate. Eventually you want your body to work for you, not work for your body (if that makes sense). And if you want to lift and workout I recommend doing high intensity circuit workouts where you are doing an exercise one after another, to again, get your heart rate up and increase your fitness level (not be one of the those people we do a set, rest for 2-3 minutes and do another one). There is too much down time, that’s good for increasing strength but not overall fitness. Diet is just as important as working out!

I do not know if you are over weighted or not.

Try the following according to your present weight.

1) Nutrition:
Avoid or reduce fatty foods and sugar intake (watch your drinks there is a lot of sugar in many of them. Avoid or reduce alcohol intake. Avoid or reduce white bread, white rice, & pastry.
Have: fruit, veggies (by the ton), lean meat, fish, whole grain products, etc. And 2 liters of water a day.

2) Do cardio two times a week for 30 minutes.
Whatever you can do and like to do; walk, jog, cycle, swim, dance, etc. Just make sure you keep your heart rate up for 30 minutes twice a week.

3) Toning.
Get firm muscles, they will burn the fat in your body. Work them out twice a week.
From light weight to any other form of resistence exercise you can do and like: crunces, squats, push ups, sit ups, etc.
You need to feel taht your muscles have worked, taht they are tired, but not exhausted or in pain.

Instead of driving to work I walk there. It takes me 20 minutes each day. If you can’t do that, maybe you use lifts?
Then get off one floor earlier and walk the last bit.,.. It is only a few steps but doing them over and over will make you that extra bit fitter and then maybe you might want to get off two floor earlier.
You can also start drinking water only. These are all small steps but they work, the main point is sticking to these steps and adding more and more until you will be just fit.

Heh, I’m a black belt too. Perhaps your legs are really muscular from kicking the bag. You probably don’t punch the bags as much, and that’s why you are flabby in your arms and stomach.

You need to lift weights, do push-ups, pull-ups, play a sport with a ball, anything with weight resistance. I did TKD and gained weight. I was very fit before, but I don’t know, something about the sport/art does not tone your body well.
