Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Ken asks…

What is the best diet to lose weight fast in one week?

i have a huge event to go to this weekend. i have been in college away from my family and i want to surprise them, look nice and thin. anyone know of a diet i can do that will help me lose weight fast.

weight loss cardiff answers:

The south beach diet. Everyone I know who has tried it have had amazing results in the shortest time. I hope this helps!

Richard asks…

What is the best way to lose weight fast?

I need a good way to lost weight fast. I’ve already cut the pop (I used to drink around 3 cans a day) which is probbly how I got this far.

I’m 14, 5’11 and weigh 166 (I know not that bad, I just want to be down to a flat stomach)

I’m open to suggestions in diet and excercises. I would appreciate the help.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Jogging is an excellent exercise because it let you lose weight
evenly throughout your whole body. If you want to lose weight in
specific areas, you should target them with exercises. If they are
your problem areas, they will be very difficult to tone. You will have
to work double on them. The best approach is this:
1. Lower/control your daily calorie intake (control for normal
weight, lower for overweight).
2. Run/jog to lower your overall body fat percentage.
3. Target your problem areas with exercises.
An excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on a
stool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture,
for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make sure
that it is not very heavy, start with one kilo, for example, or you
will damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of your
body back, until it’s parallel with the ground. Stop for a second and
move it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Every week add
to the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week,
guaranteed! You will see or feel under the fat – if you have any – six
pack and muscles. Dumbbells do wonders. Much better than these
crunches – I came up to three hundreds and there was no results AT
ALL. With the dumbbells you will see it in a week.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Sandy asks…

How many calories should a 170 lbs. 13 year old eat each day to lose weight fast?

I’m 13 and weigh around 170 pounds. I’m trying to lose weight, but it just takes to long. I have patience, but still want better and quicker results. How many calories should I intake each day to quicken my results for weight loss?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Allright. Go on Google, or Bing, and search for a Calorie Calculator. Type in your specifications and it should tell you your calories needed per day. It should be about 2000, or a bit over. Cut this amount by upto 500.

If you want to loose weight even quicker add some excersicse.

You should notice good results within a few weeks – a month.

Lizzie asks…

When on a vegan diet, do you need to count calories to loose weight?

I heard that vegans stay naturally thin without counting calories because they dont have lots of tokins or bad foods (cause most non animal product foods are healthy).

So, if Im trying to loose weight on a vegan diet, do I really need to count calories? (If so, how many should I have daily?)

Thanks :]

PS) *Im not going vegan strictly too loose weight, Im going for animal rights and general health reasons, weight loss is just an added bonus!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Yes, you still need to count calories. There’s plenty of ways to be vegan and still consume empty calories, and even too much of a good thing can make you gain weight. The good news is that if you’re eating vegetables, it’ll take a lot more food to get up to your daily calorie quota than if you were eating meat and dairy, so you’ll be able to eat more and still lose weight.

You should look up how many calories you need based on your gender, height, weight, activity level, and how much you want to lose.

Here’s a link to the Mayo Clinic’s calorie calculator:

Hope that helps!

Sharon asks…

What food should I avoid and what to eat more to lose weight?

I am 172cm tall and I weight 65kg (Yay I lost 4kg ^.^)
I ate little bit less than usually and I lost 4kg but I really need to lose more weight in few months. I know there is no miracle for weight loss. What food should I throw out of my diet and what food should I add?

weight loss cardiff answers:

If you want to lose weight, you need to two things: eat less and exercise more. Weight gain happens when you create a calorie surplus (eat more than you burn). Your body takes the excess calories and converts them to fat which get stored around your stomach, arms and thighs. The longer you remain in a calorie surplus, the more weight you’ll gain. To lose that weight, you need to do the opposite. You need to create a calorie deficit (start eating less than you burn).

Your first step is to figure out how many calories you burn on a daily basis. Use a calorie calculator – http://calorieneedscalculator.com The number you get from this tool is what your body burns on a daily basis. To lose weight, simply eat less. It sounds a lot easier than it is but making small changes helps you adjust to a new lifestyle. Don’t think of this as a diet, think of it as a new life. Instead of eating foods high in sugars, white flour and saturated fat, go with fruits, vegetables, whole wheats, fish, lean meats, nuts and beans. In addition to eating less, you also need to exercise more. Start off at 1-2 times per week and work your way up to 3-5 times per week.

Don’t make all of these changes at once or you won’t be able to properly adjust to them. Generally, eating healthier foods will decrease your calorie intake. Compare a doughnut to an apple and you’ll see that healthy foods are lower in calories. You can find some more information at the Straight Health Forums – http://forums.straighthealth.com

what are very good ways to lose weight fast other than constantly excercising i dont have time for that?

weight loss cardiff answers:

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you’re consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm

Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is “Muscle and Fitness”. Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/

A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. Steven asks…

How 2 lose weight, nothing works & you are already on strict diet?

I need to lose weight– about 50kgs worth-if you work in pounds just know its a hell of a lot.Thing is I dont eat junk food, drink alcohol or over-eat…I have a very restricted diet due to coeliac disease,so am already very restricted on food choices anyway. Dr says just reduce the calories, its calories in versus the calories out, I personally dont believe its always as simple as that. I’ve tried WW,carbohydrate diets (that was a disaster), been to a dietician-nothing seems to shift the weight. Increased my exercise- still didn’t budge.Short of eating lettuce leaves & tomatoes 3 meals a day I’m getting very frustrated. Anyone else had this problem or have an answer? I’d be very grateful. And now I’m reaching that wonderful menopause age for women so I have that to contend with as well!
breakfast- low fat yoghurt & 10 almonds Green tea
11am- chai latte & sometimes a boiled egg
130pm GF bread- advocado, tomato, cheese, sometimes bowl soup, piece fruit green tea
dinner usually stir fry vegies or veggies & fish or once week lamb (I dont eat chicken or beef)
Only drink green tea,no coffee,or drink water. I’m 53.I am physically active at work- but obviously not enough.

Richard asks…

How to lose weight as a vegetarian?

I’m a vegetarian who is 17 years old, 5′ 6.5” and 130 pounds. I’m a size 5-7 in juniors. How can I lose some weight or sizes before school starts mid-August? I’m already eating around only 1000 calories a day and I’m volunteering as a camp counselor with kids, so I have plenty of exercise, but it’s not working. Please help? Thanks!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Starving will turn your body into a fat storage machine, you will lose mostly water weight and the lean tissue your body will strip to access nutrition. Your body won’t release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow your metabolism to compensate and store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering your calories, it will continue lowering that set point, til you can survive off nothing and store fat on anything. The body will only release it’s fat stores if it knows there is plenty of food available (not just calorically high food, but nutritionally high food)..

I would suggest you dramatically increase, well above your needs, food intake with low carb foods. It will take your body awhile to access the fat stores depending how long you’ve been in starvation mode, but you shouldn’t gain weight, other than water weight and the lean tissue your body has had to strip to access nutrition. If you are young enough and do this, you may be able to repair the damage to your metabolism before it becomes permanent.

Metabolism is controlled by nutrition. You can’t eat 600/1500/2000 calories of vegetables & fruit (pick a number, it doesn’t matter – only the amount of fat stored changes), your body will treat it as being starved (which it is, starved of nutrition) and will shut down your metabolism as if you’re eating nothing, but will store every possible ounce as fat. Inversely, you wont gain weight on 5000 or more calories of fat & protein (if fat is 65% of calories) because insulin (the fat storage hormone) is not activated.

High fat, adequate protein and very low carbs will after 3 days convert your body to burning fat as fuel (ketosis). While in ketosis you will burn dietary fat and if dietary fat is more than sufficient, body fat directly. High calories will keep the metabolism at maximum fat burning capabilities.

Your body requires fats, you will die without them. Your body requires protein, you will die without them. You will die if you eat protein without fat. You do not require carbohydrates. The body can manufacture all it needs from the protein/fat combination.

If you starve yourself by lowering calories lower than are needed for the body to function, your body will freak out and will want to store every ounce in case it doesn’t get nourished again. You need to give it adequate nourishment so it doesn’t slow your metabolism down to adjust for lower calories.

Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.

High insulin levels unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.

Once you get near your goal, you start adding 5 carbs every 3 days til you gain weight, then you subtract 10 carbs. That would give you your personal carb level (everyone is different and it depends on how active you are.) As long as you remain <9 carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control, and shouldn't gain weight. Many people gain weight on high carb, then switch to low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb that they gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar and maintain weight or health.

Dr.Atkins was a cardiologist, low carb was a health plan easier sold as a "diet" Read any of his books for easily understandable science. Lutz "Life without Bread" & Taubes "Good calorie, bad calorie" are excellent books that dispel all the nutrition myths.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Maria asks…

What did the rest of the world do during the holocaust?

We’re writing essays about this and, well, I need some help. I would prefer if you could link me to something explaining what the rest of the world was doing about this, why it took so long to notice it, and what could have been done differently. I need links since we need to write sources, but some personal knowledge will help too.

Thanks.

weight loss cardiff answers:

In dealing with the problem of evil in the world, we run into many problems like this one. Could God have prevented the Holocaust? Yes, He could have. He could also have prevented Stalin’s massacres in the U.S.S.R., the Spanish Inquisition’s torture of dissidents, and Nero’s reign of terror. In each case, God allowed evil men to exercise a certain amount of power for a short period of time.

Ultimately, we do not know the reasons for what God allows. His ways and thoughts are infinitely higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). His sovereign plan takes in the whole scope of history, past, present, and future, encompassing every possible course of action, every cause and effect, every potentiality, and every contingency. There is no way we could possibly fathom the intricacies of His design. By faith, we trust that His plan is the best plan possible for restoring fallen humanity and a cursed world to righteousness and blessing.

But we can understand this: God’s permission is not the same as His approval. God permitted Adam to eat of the forbidden tree, but He did not approve of the action. In the same way, God’s allowing the Holocaust in no way suggests His approval of it. God is grieved by the sinfulness of man and the hardness of his heart (Genesis 6:6; Mark 3:5).

We also know that God has done everything possible to redeem us from the sin which would destroy us. He gave His only Son, who sacrificed His life for our sin and took our penalty. All who turn to Jesus Christ in faith are saved. The sin in this world, and horrors such as the Holocaust, are a direct result of mankind’s continued rebellion against God.

While nothing can justify the Holocaust, we do see at least one good thing which came from World War II: Israel now exists as a nation. The Holocaust was a primary reason the White Paper of 1939 was rescinded, freeing Jews to immigrate to Palestine. The fact that, as of 1948, the Jews have a restored national identity helps to fulfill such biblical prophecies as Ezekiel 37 and Matthew 24. Defeating Nazism and giving the land of Israel back to the Jews is a classic example of God’s thwarting Satan’s plan and bringing about good in spite of the evil.

In all of His doings, God is just (Psalm 145:17). The blame for the Holocaust lies squarely on the shoulders of sinful humanity. The Holocaust was the product of sinful choices made by sinful men in rebellion against a holy God. If the Holocaust proves anything, it is the utter depravity of man. Just fourteen years after “the war to end all wars” (World War I), Hitler rose to power. What is even more shocking is that millions followed him, enabling his horrific policies and pursuing a path to national destruction.

And while Nazism took hold in Germany, where were the European churches? Some, it is true, stood fast against the evil in their midst, and some churchmen, such as Dietrich Bonhoeffer, paid the ultimate price for dissenting. But they were the minority. Most churches of the era acquiesced to Nazi Party rules and remained silent while the Jews were slaughtered. Where were the world leaders? Other than England’s Winston Churchill, the world’s politicos took the route of isolation or appeasement. Neither worked. Where were the good, decent people? Edmund Burke is often quoted as saying, “All that is necessary for evil to triumph in the world is for enough good men to do nothing.” Although there were a few Germans and other Europeans such as Oscar Schindler and Corrie ten Boom and her family, who risked their lives to save thousands of Jews from annihilation, most remained silent and the Holocaust ensued. The question is not so much “Why did God allow the Holocaust?” but “Why did we?”

God gives mankind freedom of choice. We can choose to follow Him and take a stand for righteousness, or we can rebel against Him and pursue evil. The problem resides in the heart of man. “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). Until man’s heart turns to God, the world will continue to witness “ethnic cleansings,” genocides, and atrocities such as the Holocaust.

Steven asks…

How did the Nazis and Germans attempt to eliminate an entire group of people?

Other than the obvious (of concentration camps) how did they (Germans and Nazis) attempt to rid the world of certain peoples.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Propaganda…..have the populace not react to exterminations, jews were portrayed as parasites…e.g. Fungus, rats….a blight on humanity to be exterminated.
Dehumanization…..the were not human beings, but a sub spices to be eradicated.
The Milgram experiment in psychology has two dangerous proposals, that if the conditions are right and a person has no strong existential convictions it is vary easy to have someone harm another individual. Physical distance one, it is easier to harm an individual the greater the distance. E.G….that’s the reason for gas chambers. SS troops were having nervous brake downs killing civilians by burning them to death alive, or machine gunning them in pits. It was easier and more efficient to heard them into killing factories such as camp Dora, take the people but them into a gas chamber and have the SS officer turn a valve in another room, clean killing the SS officer never saw the face of his victims. Prisoners would haul the bodies out, the SS never soiled their hands in clean up of their murders, they just instigated and over saw to it. The last point to Milgram was that if a authoritarian person gives an order and takes full responsibility for it, it is easier to illicit someone to do the job for you, even in causing bodily harm. Police brutality, or a sadistic doctor, because these people are in high authority and high esteem it takes along time to build up a case because of these factors. Well, the SS did not start off as thugs, they were highly educated men, good citizens in their communities, so the authority they had, even to its murderous perverseness had power. The men following SS orders felt that the responsibility fell on the officers not the individual caring out the order, because of trust in that authority. There was another psychology experiment on peer pressure affecting judgment. 99 people were in on the experiment stating that a short line was long, the odd man out would state that the short line was long, and after the experiment would state he was right. So peer pressure can affect an individuals judgment to act wrongly, but the individual still believes they are acting right. Mild brain washing still happens today……military training, in a time of war a officer gives the order to fire (think about it……you are pulling a trigger on a human being taking their life), the soldier needs to be conditioned to the task. I am pro military, pro democracy God bless canada and america, was raised on moms apple pie, the love of queen and country, and watching G.I. Joe cartoons on saturday. But if one dose not have the strictest faith in God, and related morality, if the conditions are right, anyone can go to base instincts of pack mentality and kill without question. There were some men, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, that resisted the nazis, a theologian and a spy that paid for his beliefs with his life in a concentration camp 3 weeks before the wars end.

Michael asks…

How was the church a threat to the Nazis?

In what ways could the church be seen as a threat to the Nazis?
What opposition did some people in the Church give the Nazi’s and why?

weight loss cardiff answers:

The Christian churches under thoughtful leadership of such theologians as Dietrich Bonhoeffer posed such a threat to the Nazis they had to push them underground. Read about the ‘Confessing Church’.
When others would suggest the churches ‘cooperated’ they neglect the pressure put on the congregations by the Nazis. Churches were forced to remove all ‘religious’ trappings and replace them with those of the state.
One reliable source from inside Hitler’s own group of cronies not only supports this but is among the first to explain it to the outside world.
