Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Paul asks…

How can i lose weight effectively?

To start off, my mom is very strict.
She tells me I’m not fat, but I know I am.
So when I went on a vegetarian diet, she went crazy.
She made me eat meat, even though I didn’t want to.
Anyway, I really want to lose weight off of my belly and thighs.
How can I do that?
Running, sit-ups?
Oh, and I heard that if you sweat, you’ll lose weight.
How does that work?
Thank you so much in advance!

Go to the biggest loser site, and the trainers give you HEAPS of tips, just type ” The Biggest Loser”, on the enternet, and click on the first website…on the top, it says videos, and on the column ” Browse”…it says ” Trainer Tips”…it has tips from Shannon and Michelle, on how you can loose weight, easily, and fast!!!…I need to loose weight too, and I’vee lost 3kg, in 6 weeks…doing as they said!!
Good Luck, and i hope I helped 🙂
P.S.Just because your on a diet, it doesn’t mean you can’t eat properly…never skip meals, don’t eat fats and oils, and all the fatty stuff…drink plenty of water, and yes, sweating does help you loose weight. My sister goes to the gym, and they say that she has to wear a jumper or hoodie or something, even in summer, so try that while running with your Ipod or phone or something…because listening to music also helps..:)

Ruth asks…

What supplements can i use to lose weight and bulk up before spring break and summer?

Id really like to lose like 40lbs and bulk up before spring break and summer. Im doing 1.5 hours of low intensity cardio but havent started lifting yet. What kind of over the counter supplements could i buy at GNC that will help me to bulk up super quick and increase my fat loss? Ive been researching but everything is confusing…only legal suggestions please cause i dont want to try “juice”.

weight loss cardiff answers:

This may not be the answer you want, but supplements will make no more than 5% difference to your results. You’re much better off focusing on getting the basics of your lifting and FOOD right than relying on supps.

This opinion comes both from science and from long years of wasting money on supps whilst hoping they work for me.

Besides the occasional protein supplement where I can’t get food, or am using a 10g portion of it to inhibit catabolism whilst training fasted (which is something you should definitely try!) I only use creatine regularly. Over 15 years of research shows this to the only supp that consistently makes people faster, stronger and last longer. And if you can train harder, you can get more results.

But all of this is still dependant on your diet being right. Diet accounts for over 70% of your physique results, therefore it’s where you should focus 70% of your efforts to get it right.

Both I and many of my clients use Intermittent Fasting with great success when losing weight and looking more muscular. Here’s something I wrote about it on my blog:

ou could imagine that your day is split into two; a cutting (fat loss) phase, and an anabolic phase. This is in contrast to a ‘normal’ eating day where you are never fat burning as effectively as when fasting, although post training you are properly anabolic.

Splitting your day in this way has tremendous benefits, but the biggest one is the Holy Grail of dieters and bodybuilders the world over; you (almost) guarantee losing fat whilst maintaining, or even gaining, muscle. I say almost because it’s still dependant on you doing the right things with your diet.

You can read a fuller explanation of why and how Intermittent Fasting continues to work even once you get into single digit body fat figures at Martin’s site (here for stubborn fat removal, and here for leptin problem avoidance). But one of the great things about Intermittent Fasting for fat loss/weight loss is that you just don’t seem to get the same metabolic slowdown problems as you would normally do with a strict caloric restriction diet (jointly due to the effects of maintaining muscle mass and having a significant number of calories in one meal every day).

This means that with Intermittent Fasting you can continue to eat for muscle gain and fat loss even whilst you get lower and lower body fat. And you just can’t do that anything like as easily as with a normal calorie restriction + cardio setup.

To figure out how to create your diet you could start over at Lyle MacDonalds site:
bodyrecomposition.com
There’s more information there than you’ll need, and there’s a great forum also.

Hope this helps, please feel free to ask more questions you might have.

David asks…

How do i lose weight easily?

Ive got no money to go to gyms or buy healthy food, so are there any other ways of ensuring i lose weight or any tips on how to help?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Losing 10 lbs a month is a good and safe target. Any faster weight loss is likely to be temporary only and in most cases you regain it all.

Running, jogging, cycling, swimming, dancing, push ups, sit ups, squats, brisk walking and power walking all help for weight loss but dieting helps more.

One of the healthiest weight loss diets is the DASH diet.

The healthy DASH diet can help you lose weight safely and effectively, lower your cholesterol and lower your blood pressure.

It is based on an eating plan rich in fruits and vegetables, and low-fat or non-fat dairy, with whole grains. It is a high fiber, low to moderate fat diet, and is rich in potassium, calcium, and magnesium.

You can see further details in a web search for “dash diet” + “lose weight”.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

John asks…

What is a good recipe for homemade dogfood for overweight dogs?

I have two dogs that are overweight. I feed them Weight Management dry food but they are used to having canned food mixed with this. Does anyone know of a good diet recipe for dogs?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Hi,

You don’t have to switch to a “lite” food, but you might want to since it means you won’t have to cut back quite as much on the amount you feed your dog. (Hey, if it was easy for us to deny our dogs we wouldn’t be in this fix in the first place.) Regardless, he’ll be eating less, so help him feel satisfied by adding low-calorie, high-fiber foods to his bowl.

Susan asks…

Is this really bad cheating on Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet?

I made a south beach diet recipe, Egg Muffins. But i have little money to splurge on some low fat/ non fat items. So I used a tablespoon 2 percent milk, and a tiny bit of Medium Cheddar cheese shredded and diced onions.
Should I throw out the rest of the muffins? Or is this a tiny cheat I shouldn’t worry about and move on?

weight loss cardiff answers:

I hate to be petty but bad apples spoil my opinion – that is, you may be ok cheating a little, but so many people dress up what they consider an acceptable cheat – a girl I saw on TV was on atkins but kept eating fruit saying “well whoever said that fruit makes you fat, I dont care what they say” – when it was a STUPI STUPID idea since it interupts ketosis (the process of using fat as a primary fuel source since carbs/sugars are unavoidable.

So, with the above rant in mind, if you do not do what they say, do not say “I am on the south beach diet”, you are not, you are on a broken version of it, that may, or may not, work.

So – I know this answer may make you roll your eyes and say “err, answer the question” but my point is, stuff impacts more than people know, the diets are designed with will power in mind, but they are also designed with carb/fat/protein in levels in mind – regularly altering these even slightly will likely have effects on the diet. So with that considered, I would throw away the muffins 🙁

Steven asks…

What are some tasty diet foods and recipes?

I am on a diet I am getting married in a year and a half I want to lose 40 lbs what are some good diet foods, recipes, snacks, etc? Should I have 3 meals a day or 5? I have heard so many different answers.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Hi Julia, there are so many types of diets you can choose from but my girlfriend tried a diet that she got on Amazon, it’s all about the RIGHT water consumption and what food to eat. The author is a nutritionist so It’s very informational and my gf lost lots of pounds and still continues to take this diet till now. You may want to try it too! Try to search it on Amazon, the book’s title is “Drowning in 8 Glasses: 7 Myths about Water Revealed”

Hope I helped 🙂

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Lisa asks…

How can I lose weight without exercising?

I suffered a back injury. It is continuous and anytime I try to exercise my SI joint and L4/L5 are effected and I end up on my back again. It is a vicious cycle and I want to lose weight and tone up. Anybody have any recommendations on what I can do to lose weight without exercising?

weight loss cardiff answers:

To lose weight (fat) you must consume fewer calories a day than you burn…so your primary method would be to drop your calories (do not go below 1200 per day). Weight loss will be slower for you, but it can happen…if you can swim or do any form of water aerobics or activity that wouldn’t stress your back, that might be an option to help you burn extra calories without aggravating your injury…also possibly a recumbent bike (stationary) as it would have you in a position to help your back relax (slightly reclined)…

If you have gone or are going through physical therapy (which would be common for an injury) what kinds of exercises do you do for that? Surely your PT trainer encourages you to do your exercises at home as well…

David asks…

Is there anything available to lose weight without exercising?

I’m 72. I used to exercise and lost alot of weight. However, after I got fat again, I can’t walk or exercise because my feet hurt and it feels like fire. I’m a diabetic. I want to lose weight and need to, still.

Is there anything available that will help me lose weight without exercising or walking too much on my feet?

The doctor said that nothing could be done to solve the feet’s problem. Sometimes it hurt, sometime it doesn’t, but I can’t keep walking all the time or exercising.

weight loss cardiff answers:

There are more tips and info.

Some say low carb. Some say high carb. Some say it’s how much food. Some say it’s how much exercise. But none of these covers the whole picture.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Charles asks…

Easy, fast weight loss?

I want to do an easy diet. Something that takes no more then 10 days preferably. I saw some thing that like planned out your menu and made it really easy, but honestly, I just don’t have the supplies to do it. (: So I need something fast and easy I suppose. Its quite urgent!
I’m aware of all the risks that come with dramatic weight loss. I can handle dramatic measures though!

weight loss cardiff answers:

1 Dietary control and exercise. It’s true what they say – all you need to do is watch what you eat, and expend more energy than you consume. It’s really that simple. You can quit reading this list now, you now know everything you need to know and didn’t need to fork over $500 for the privilege of me telling you the secret of losing weight. You don’t need to read a 4,000 page book, you don’t have to buy a tape series, you don’t need to stay up late at night to watch infomercials to understand this basic premise. It’s 100% true.

2 Change your lifestyle. If you’re calling this a “diet,” then you’re going to gain all the weight back (and more) within a few months of losing it. Diets do not work. Diets are temporary. When you change your dietary lifestyle, however, you’re changing your habits – and you’re putting yourself on track for long-term / continued success and weight maintenance. Don’t ever tell anybody you’re on a diet – ever. I’m speaking from experience, here – a reformed low-carber. Worked out well for a while, but ultimately failed because my entire lifestyle didn’t change (permanently).

3 Join an online support group. In my case, I created my own – FatBlasters. It’s essential that you not feel alone, and reaching out to friends (new or old) is typically a smart move. I just heard about PeetTrainer, but didn’t know about it when I began down the road to weight loss. You have to know that others are out there for moral support – they know things that you couldn’t possibly know, and they’ve probably been “in your shoes” at some point in the past (or present). Share stories, laughter, tears, successes, and failures – share them. There are thousands of communities out there, so keep looking until you find the one that fits you.

4 Take before and after photos. I know it sucks to see yourself as a chunky monkey (sorry, that’s what I called myself – if only to get myself motivated to meet my weight loss goal). However, there’s no easier way to illustrate your progress. The “after” photos are far more fun to capture and share, admittedly. Find yourself on Flickr! It’s good to see yourself how others see you. Do you like how you look? In many ways, Flickr helped me lose weight.

5 Hire a substitute teacher. Don’t reach for the brands you know and love immediately – or without thinking first. Eggs are “good” for you, but consider using egg substitutes instead (in fact, many restaurants will let you order lower calorie foods). There are countless “lower” alternatives for you to try. If something different doesn’t taste good, by all means – find a better substitute, or eat less of the original. In some cases, the substitute may be worse for you than the regular version of the product. The good news is, healthier choices are silently replacing their “normal” counterparts – and they taste just as nice.

6 Start reading labels. I know it sucks, but you have to do it – and there’s no way to avoid this tip. If you don’t know what you’re putting in your mouth, you’re flying blind. Don’t assume, either – triple-check the ingredients list and serving sizes. You must rely on yourself for this; nobody else is going to be able to lose the weight or do the math for you. It’s not that complicated a task, but it will require effort. If nothing else, just pay attention to the calorie count.

7 What’s so funny about bovines? If you like cheese, you must buy the Laughing Cow brand, and keep several of the suckers in stock at all times. The individually-wrapped wedges make for excellent snacks, and are wonderful when melted over just about anything edible. I’d be careful about straight-up American cheese, though – it’s oil, but not necessarily as good for you as (say) a slice of cheddar would be. I have yet to find something as calorie-light and filling as Laughing Cow (I don’t know how they do it).

8 Tell your family. You’re not going to lose the weight alone, even if you ARE alone in losing the weight. If you’ve got a family at home, talk to them about it – initially, not incessantly. Let them know what you’re going to do, and that you want (and need) their support. If you don’t let them know, you’re running the risk of them inadvertently sabotaging your efforts. You want them to help you get to your goal(s). You want them to share in your happiness when you’ve made it past a certain mark. Who knows? Maybe some of your new habits will rub off on them and they’ll become healthier people, too?
