Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Donna asks…

How to find a balance while running and trying to lose weight?

I don’t want to go crazy trying to lose weight and running more than I should ,and eating nothing. etc etc.
Don’t get me wrong, I really want to change my life style of eating/ exercising healthy. But i don’t want to go overboard and result in plateauing and burning-out .

How do I accomplish this?

weight loss cardiff answers:

I get what you’re saying completely.> I’m the same way.

I believe the way to do it is the slow approach an finding a balance of what you put into your body (food wise) and what you take out (running wise).

I don’t deny myself anything, if I want Ice cream I have it, or chips but what I do is have that smaller portion than I used to. At one point I could eat a bag of doritos to myself (the big bag) now it’s just a small bowl and gee who knew it shared out with the whole family aswell!!

You will reach a plateau level tho, and that’s where you want to decide if you’re content with how you look and keep your miles stagnant or you increase your miles (or decrease your food intake).

Just exeriment with the balance that works for you.

Donna asks…

What diet pills work the best for energy and weight loss?

I have tried SO many, and I can’t tell the differance. I want to know your opinion, if you have taken diet pills and know they work. Thanks!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Ashley,
To be completely honest, diet pills do not work. I too have tried every diet pill, every diet shake, every diet plan that is on the market, and the only thing that worked, without draining me financially, was healthier eating, light exercise, and daily walks.
I was having health issues, because I was gaining weight, but not really getting “fat”. I had become violently ill, to the point of basically becoming bedridden. The doctors could not figure it out. After several months of tests, and numerous trips to the doctors offices, they did an EKG (echocardiogram) and found that I had fat on my liver. The fat cells were attaching to my internal organs instead of showing on the outside, and it was causing my liver to malfunction and could cause it to completely shut down if I do not lose the fat.

I tried everything. I tried every diet plan imaginable.

Here is what worked:
Eating food!!
I began to eat for my breakfast healthy cereal, with skim milk. One bowl a day, along with a nice tall glass of orange juice. For lunch, I would eat a couple slices of wheat bread toasted, and a glass of orange juice or skim milk, or other juice (apple juice, grape juice, etc.) For supper, I would make a HUGE salad, with lowfat dressing.

Every other day I would have the salad for supper, but on days I did not have the salads, I would make healthy meals– I switched from using ground beef to ground turkey (alot less fat), and would make meals that had long grain brown rice, and chicken in it, with lowfat sauces over it. I also have increased my intake of steamed vegetables– something that is relatively cheap, yet high in vitamins, that I buy in bulk at Sam’s Club.

In between all that eating, I would take a nice steady paced (not fast, but brisk) walk around my neighborhood for about a half hour to hour. I also, while watching TV, would hook my feet under the edge of the couch while commercials were on, and do a few sit ups. I consider myself VERY lazy, so it was great– fast, yet did not make me break a sweat

What that did was tone up the flab, a little at a time, with very little effort. The walking burnt calories, and strengthened and toned my muscles. And the change in eating habits changed my life.I have been steadily loosing weight, and actually keeping it off.

Diet pills DO make you lose weight, but cost too much, and you have to continue to take them long term to keep the weight off, and you have to take suppliments (like “One A Day Plus Iron”) iin order to get the proper nutrition in your system. It is much cheaper, and much safer, and way far easier to eat your way to skinny, by eating healthier foods, lowfat foods.

It worked for me, and I now have more energy, look much better (I was beginning to look worn and ragged, but now look younger and healthier), and sleep much better. I have found that diet pills were not the answer, but rather a change in what I eat, and actually taking a few small steps to be more active was all it took to get the weight off and keep it off.

So my advice is this:
Do not use diet pills, but rather try new eating habits– I can eat as much as I want now (healthier foods, and lowfat foods) and am still losing weight.

I feel your pain with weight loss issues– been there, done that, and the best way to have high energy and loses weight is the eat right, sleep regular hours (at least 8 hours a night), and watch the pounds melt off, and the energy levels rise.

Good luck.

Richard asks…

What is your experience with diet pills or juices?

So I know they’re not good for you and I know crash diet results aren’t usually permanent, but I need fast results to look great in an outfit for an upcoming event even if I gain most of it back. Has anyone here experimented with diet pills or juices and had success or failures? Which brands and what side effects?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Like you already know, the weight loss was temporary and gained back plus some. Permanent weight loss is best done with the knowledge that the body can only lose 2-3 pounds/fat/week. Any more than this is loss of muscle and since muscles helps burn calories and also makes us look good it is not something you want to lose.

So, eating too little calories will simply cut your metabolism too much and also cause you to lose muscle, and then gain back fat. That’s a 3-way formula for not-smart dieting.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Helen asks…

Are there any weight loss supplements (pills, tea, etc.) for people under the age of 18?

I am younger than 18, and I want to be on supplements to speed up the weight loss. Normally I would stick to a healthy diet, but I need to be in good shape by April. Any ideas? Thanks!

weight loss cardiff answers:

I have been through it all and know what’s it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can’t be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I’ve worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can’t eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising…

This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it’s good for the heart.

However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It’s so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I’ve found a great addition to help any one out, it’s a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don’t get all crazy on me and say diet pills don’t work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn’t meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It’s an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace.com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it’s the best pill I’ve tried and I’ve tried cupboards full. Now this doesn’t mean you have to follow my foot steps but I’ve successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.

Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

Sandy asks…

What are some good non-expensive natural weight loss supplements?

What are some good non-expensive natural weight loss supplements that you can find let’s say…walmart for example? Something that you can buy on a monthly basis and not end up broke.

Not something like Hydroxycut or Slimquick…I’ve heard they’re no good

weight loss cardiff answers:

There is no such thing. It’s all a matter of calories consumed and calories burned.
There are around 3500 calories in 1 lb of fat.

Do the math, work it out and save your money

Charles asks…

What weight loss supplements would you suggest?

I’ve decided to lose about 50 lbs by the time the summer is over and so far I’m making great progress. I started my diet a little over a month ago and have already lost 14 lbs. I joined the gym. I go at least 4 times a week. Usually every day though unless another plan interrupts my schedule. I am watching what I eat. I have cut my calories significantly and even started keeping a food diary, in which i also keep track of my exercise. I bought a pedometer and count me steps, basically I’ve improved my way tremendously since the year started. My question now is in regards to those infamous “weight loss pills”. I would like to add something to increase my energy, boost my metabolism, and just speed up the process. I am kind of in a hurry because I am planning a vacation and would like to possibly complete this before my initial plan. But how can you trust anything out there, really? Has anyone taken anything that they were satisfied with? Or does anybody have any tips in general?
I tried the Slimquick, I even tried TrimSpa, but stopped taking them soon after. Trimspa still sits in my closet i took like 4 of them. Slimquick i used a whole bottle of, bought another one, went through half and then stopped because i wasn’t sure if they would interact with medications that i started taking at the time. I can say i was pretty satisfied with the results slimquick gave me. Still I would like to see what other options I have. The cost is also a concern, simply because I’m not rich and can’t afford to spend $100/month on weight loss pills. A friend of mine [body builder] swears by Hydroxycut. But not many other people I talked to recommended it, so any suggestions?

weight loss cardiff answers:

DO NOT TAKE DIET PILLS! They are dangerous!!

Last year I was visiting my parents and took diet pills on top on my exercise routine and normal diet. I was 26 at the time, 5’11, 180 lbs. By week three I was sick. I had diarrhea, dry heaves, dizziness, headaches, and a general feeling of being sick. I thought I had caught the flu or something. I had lost 13 lbs in 4 days. One morning I told my mom I didn’t feel good. My vision kept blacking out and I felt (for lack of a better way to say it) stoned. Later that afternoon I was walking from the bathroom to my bedroom (a 5 foot walk) and I passed out. I was rushed to the hospital emergency where they did a bunch of tests on me.

My pulse was up to 120, My blood pressure was 150/40, they had to start me on an IV, the did an EKG on me, took blood and urine samples, and a whole barrage of other tests.

They finally got me stabilized and said that I was dehydrated and malnutritioned. I told him that I took diet pills. When I mentioned diet pill, the doctors face lit up and said that’s why. He said they can cause a whole bunch of health problems, including death. He told me to toss the diet pills or next time I might not be so lucky.

I was kept in the hospital for almost 10 hours, given 3 or 4 IVs, potassium, juices, and monitored (by the EKG, blood pressure, and heart rate machines) every 15 minutes.

Please take my story as a warning. If you seriously want to loose weight there are better ways (I know because I’ve lost weight after this)

The quickest way is to cut out red meats, starches, breads, sugars, alcohol, and sodas.

Eat veggies (salads are good), soups, and drink TONS of water. If you get hungry between a meal, drink water to fill up.

In moderation eat white meats, and fruits (fruits contain natural sugars, and that can put on weight)

Practice portion control. Yes, you’ll feel hungry at first, but think of your goal, and soon your stomach will start shrinking and you won’t have that feeling anymore.

Eat 5 times a day. A small breakfast. A mid-morning snack, such as an apple. A small lunch. A mid-afternoon snack, such as carrots. A lite dinner. Do not eat any later than 7pm (6pm is better.)

Go exercise for at least an hour a day, incorporating weight training. Weight training builds muscle. Muscle burns fat. You get the idea. It also gives tone and definition. Also do a few yoga and pilates exercises to help tone those hard to reach and stubborn areas.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

James asks…

How can I boost my metabolism without pills or weird diet drinks?

I’ve decided to take a 4 month long diet challenge to see how much weight I can lose my August4th (my brithday)
Is there any way I can boost my metabolism naturally (fruit veggies so on) without costly pills and gross diet shakes?
🙂 Any other tips on weight loss (again no pills or shakes) are totally welcome. 🙂
Thanks!

I’m 16 by the way and havent been eating right. I’m trying to change that now.

Any diet pill or tea add will be ignored

weight loss cardiff answers:

A diet low in (or free of) starch and sugar will definitely boost metabolism. In fact, you can consume about 300 calories more per day while eating this type of diet.

Linda asks…

Is it safe to take diet pills if you take the stimulant Ritalin and anti-depressants?

I’ve been on Ritalin for over 5 years, for Narcoelpsy.
I need some help to lose weight, and was thinking about looking into diet pills.
I know Ritalin is already a stimulant, but it really doesn’t cut back my appetite.
Does anyone know if it’s safe to take diet pills if you’re on prescription stimulant and anti-depressant?

weight loss cardiff answers:

You should check with your doctor before taking any pills, but diet pills are a waste of money, don’t work, and some are actually bad for you with nasty side effects. No pill, potion or supplement will help. Please don’t fall for all the spam adverts you see.

All you need is a good healthy diet – lots of fruit and veg, and exercise. It takes time and motivation:)

Chris asks…

Are there any diet pills out there that will actually work?

I am a 19 year old girl in college, I work out regularly, and eat as healthy as I can. I know that diet pills aren’t necessarily healthy but I want to help my weight loss process with a kick start kind of thing. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what type of diet pills work, and it dexatrim (sp?) or hydroxycut are terrible for your body! Thanks a bunch!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Don’t use diet pills. They are a waste of space, time, effort, and money. Just change your eating habits- limit your calories, stop eating fast foods, junk foods, processed foods, starchy foods like potatoes and corn, bread, rice, and cakes, cookies, pies, etc, and foods with preservatives like corn syrup, MSG, high fructose corn syrup, trans fats, etc, and also stick to a workout schedule of getting 30 min cardio per day, and with time the fat will be burned off. BUT be patient- real results take time!!
