Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

James asks…

How can I boost my metabolism without pills or weird diet drinks?

I’ve decided to take a 4 month long diet challenge to see how much weight I can lose my August4th (my brithday)
Is there any way I can boost my metabolism naturally (fruit veggies so on) without costly pills and gross diet shakes?
🙂 Any other tips on weight loss (again no pills or shakes) are totally welcome. 🙂
Thanks!

I’m 16 by the way and havent been eating right. I’m trying to change that now.

Any diet pill or tea add will be ignored

weight loss cardiff answers:

A diet low in (or free of) starch and sugar will definitely boost metabolism. In fact, you can consume about 300 calories more per day while eating this type of diet.

Linda asks…

Is it safe to take diet pills if you take the stimulant Ritalin and anti-depressants?

I’ve been on Ritalin for over 5 years, for Narcoelpsy.
I need some help to lose weight, and was thinking about looking into diet pills.
I know Ritalin is already a stimulant, but it really doesn’t cut back my appetite.
Does anyone know if it’s safe to take diet pills if you’re on prescription stimulant and anti-depressant?

weight loss cardiff answers:

You should check with your doctor before taking any pills, but diet pills are a waste of money, don’t work, and some are actually bad for you with nasty side effects. No pill, potion or supplement will help. Please don’t fall for all the spam adverts you see.

All you need is a good healthy diet – lots of fruit and veg, and exercise. It takes time and motivation:)

Chris asks…

Are there any diet pills out there that will actually work?

I am a 19 year old girl in college, I work out regularly, and eat as healthy as I can. I know that diet pills aren’t necessarily healthy but I want to help my weight loss process with a kick start kind of thing. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what type of diet pills work, and it dexatrim (sp?) or hydroxycut are terrible for your body! Thanks a bunch!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Don’t use diet pills. They are a waste of space, time, effort, and money. Just change your eating habits- limit your calories, stop eating fast foods, junk foods, processed foods, starchy foods like potatoes and corn, bread, rice, and cakes, cookies, pies, etc, and foods with preservatives like corn syrup, MSG, high fructose corn syrup, trans fats, etc, and also stick to a workout schedule of getting 30 min cardio per day, and with time the fat will be burned off. BUT be patient- real results take time!!

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Lisa asks…

Can’t lose the weight?

I’m a teenager and have been working out with my parents for the last two months. My dad seems to lose weight easily, but my mom seems to struggle. She is doing all the right things: eating the right foods, doing hard cardio workouts, and lifting weights. Is there any other options that can help her out?

weight loss cardiff answers:

It’s great you want to help out your mom! Women do tend to struggle more than men.

I’d suggest she needs to take another look at her diet and training.

Losing 1-2lbs a week is the best way to go. This way, you are losing mostly fat, rather than water and muscle. Faster weight loss is not better, nor is it sustainable.

Diet should be what you look at first for weight loss- this is what will enable you to drop fat. Try a balanced diet made up of mostly natural whole foods, with high protein, moderate carbs and moderate fats.

You need to know how many calories you burn- you can use an online calculator for a rough estimate. Aim for 10-20% calories fewer than you burn daily (too large a deficit will be counterproductive in the longer term).

Don’t worry about complicated diets or cutting things out. You can enjoy anything in moderation, as long as the majority of your diet is healthy.

Base your meals around:

Lean protein (e.g. Chicken, tuna, lean beef, fat-free cottage cheese, egg whites)
Wholegrains (e.g. Wholewheat bread, oats, bran cereals, rice)
Healthy fats (e.g. Nuts, seeds, olive oil, avocado, salmon, whole eggs, flaxseed)
Fruit and veg

And drink lots of water.

Second in importance to diet, is heavy resistance training- this is what will allow you to preserve muscle so you look ‘toned’ and defined once you’ve dropped the fat (rather than just a smaller version of how you look now, with the same bits you’re unhappy with). More muscle also means a higher metabolism, so you definitely want to hold on to, or increase the muscle base you have, for fat loss.

You need to work ALL your major muscle groups- you can’t spot reduce.

Then you can look at extras like cardio to help create a calorie deficit. But cardio is by far the least important of these three, and you can lose fat effectively without it.

Make sure you’re getting at least one rest day a week with no exercise at all.

Daniel asks…

How can a teenager lose weight?

Im 15, 121lbs ( I think, I measure in stone) or about 8st 8kg. I’m very chubby although not overweight. I’m getting really depressed as I try to be healthy and go jogging etc. but then I binge on unhealthy foods. Also my face isn’t very attractive so the combination has made my self esteem plummet. I will be spending a lot of time this summer in a bikini so can someone suggest a way to lose weight and tone up before July? I’m 5’5 and I have a fairly healthy diet (lots of fruit) except I binge on sugary foods ( sweet tooth). I exercise about 4 times a week by walking dogs for about 1 hour, but I am unfit and get out of breath easily. A diet plan would be good as I don’t have a clue! I really need to tone up my legs and especially my stomach.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Ok, here’s what I would do. Eat what you want in small portions. Try to stay away from junk food some though. Or you can use foods with less sugars and such. But really that is the key. EAT CONSCIOUSLY! If you eat slowly, and give your food time to settle, you will get full faster, and eat less. It really does work. Also, just keep exercising. Start out with something a little less extreme. Walk around the block or something for a while. Also, do not starve yourself. If you do, your body begins to eat away muscle and such, which leaves you very weak and easily tired. Just try this. I hope it helps you a lot!

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Maria asks…

does anyone have easy weight loss tips?

what kinds of foods should i eat? how much food? how little? are there any things i can do specifically to target my stomach? i just want to loose 10 lbs. i weigh 140

weight loss cardiff answers:

Eat less, exercise more. “Yes”, I hear you saying, “we’ve heard all that”, but it really works if you stick to it. It’s going to be hard for the first few days, but it’ll get easier.
When you go shopping, remember – what you buy now you’ll have to eat afterwards. So it’s best to load up with fresh fruit and veg and foods high in fibre – like cereal.
Never skip your breakfast – it’s better to reduce your dinner portion size because you don’t burn as many calories as during the day in your sleep.
Drink more water – not necessarily 8 glasses a day, but if you feel like snacking have a drink of water instead. It will help flush out the waste out of your body, and it will help you feel more energetic.
Find an exercise that you enjoy (I love Latin American dance). Do it for at least 3 hours each week. If you decide to join the gym you should consult your doctor first.
Finally, to make your stomach flatter you ought to do some sit-ups. They are not a waste-of-time, trust me, they help.
Don’t try fad diets – they don’t work, and as a result you may be very angry and frustrated.
Try and experiment – find a lifestyle that suits you.
Feel free to e-mail me if you’d like to talk about this more.
Good luck =]

Quick and Easy weight loss tips

Ok, I am 13 years old and am about 5’4″. This is kinda sad, but, I weigh about 190 pounds. I need to lose as much weigh as I can in 4 weeks for the beginning of school. Is there anything I can do besides eating healthy foods (I do eat healty tho).

weight loss cardiff answers:

30 minutes of cardio a day at least, that is fast cycling fast walking or better swimming or running, the most weight you should lose is about 5 pounds in that time, eat lots of vedge and wholegrain, don’t starve yourself because you will start to crave bad foods, like if you see a chip shop or something like that you will feel a stronger need to have some than if you had eaten, so eat until you are not full anymore, goodluck, message me if you need more advice, i found a video for you, only listen to some of this stuff, since it’s for older people but it has some good basics for your age

Chris asks…

easy weight loss tips anyone?

I’m a 14 year old girl and im about 5’3 and weigh around 127 pounds. I would like to lose 5-10 pounds in a healthy way. I want some results in a couple weeks. Thanks 🙂

weight loss cardiff answers:

1. Trade all your sodas, fruit juices, shakes, iced teas, gatorades, coffees all in for water.

2. Exercise thirty minutes for four days out of the week. Dancing is one good way to lose weight, because you’re having fun doing it. I exercise to music videos on youtube, its fun.

3. Also eat on smaller plates, this can help you out with potion control.

4. And try to eat every two – four hours.
