Paul asks…

what is a good diet to lose weight fast?

I’m 16 years old and i have stretch marks, I need to lose weight and perferably a little faster that it normally takes. I know it takes time to lose weight but i need to lose about 30 to 40 pounds maybe, before january 1st because im going on a cruise and I dont want to be fat. can someone tell me what is a good diet for me to go on to lose some weight and what i have to do in order to maintain the diet and everything.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Be sure to eat 5 small meals a day. Make breakfast your biggest meal. EX: Breakfast, AM snack, Lunch, PM snack, Dinner. It will boost your immune system.

Eat lots of veggies. Lean meats (fish, turkey & chicken) Watch your portions. You can use meal replacements too for your breakfast, lunches and dinner. Snacks can be an apple, handful of almonds.
If you skip out on meals, your body wil go into starvation mode. Which means, it won’t burn anything from your fat cells for energy. It will just store more fat everytime you eat. Very important to stick with eating 5 meals a day.

Lots of cardio to lose fat. Be sure to lift weights too. If you can lose fat you can get saggy loose skin. Lifting weights can help prevent that. Start off by walking 30 minutes 3-5 times a weeks until you build up stamina.

“if you want to be lean, eat clean” (Basically God made foods, no processed stuff)

FYI: Drink lots of water. Whatever you weigh now divide it by 2. That’s how many ounces of water you should drink a day. Fat leaves your body in your urine.

Good luck.

Charles asks…

If I go on a very fast diet and lose weight quickly, if after I have lost the weight…?

if i eat healthly, and exercise often will i keep the weight off? I dont need people to tell me its dangerous to lose weight fast, I already know that thanks.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Well it depends on what kind of diet you go on. I would say it’s most likely you will gain some of that weight back but if you work out and exercise you will definiely keep some of it off. And then more will slowly come off! =)
Have fun and good luck!

Where can I find the aging calculator on the Doctors site?

I just finished watching the show, and they said we could go online and fine a weight loss aging calculator or something of the sort. It’s supposed to show you about how you will look when you lose a certain amount of weight.
Thanks for those who can answer!

Lisa asks…

Why has my weight loss seemed to slow down?

I’ve lost about 25 Lbs since the first of the year (average about 2 Lbs a week) I’m still losing but now it seems that the losing has slowed down, I’ve only dropped about 3 or 4 pounds in the last few weeks. I eat about 1500 calories a day on average which is well below the point to lose weight according to the BMI and weight loss calculators I’ve used on MSN’s site. I’m a 48 year old man and I have a job that includes some physical work, ie: climbing in and out of trucks, lots of stair climbing and moving heavy freight part of the day. I don’t really want to cut my calorie intake to any less than 1500 a day. Any thoughts from anyone else in the same situation ? Am I on the right track and just getting impatient ? Thanks everyboby.

weight loss cardiff answers:

You must be reaching what is called a “weight loss plateau”.

The lower one weighs the less calories required. This is why you lost weight at first at a quicker pace. To counteract this, you should diet for shorter amounts. Aim to maintain your weight. And then restart your diet. It should counteract the plateau.

The weightloss will occur over a longer period of time and it will take a longer time to get to your goal but it saves you from having to cut out more and more calories in the long run.

Good Luck.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Thomas asks…

Is it safe to try to lose weight while pregnant?

I’m only talking about 10-15 pounds. I’m not pregnant now, but trying to conceive. I want to be totally healthy beforehand, so I eat well and try to exercise daily. I just don’t know if it’s okay to step up the exercise level, or if this isn’t a good time. (like taking up running?) I guess my uncertainty is in not knowing between ovulation and missed period what is happening. I don’t want to go overboard and miscarry. What have your doctors recommended??

weight loss cardiff answers:

If you’re not pregnant now, it doesn’t matter what you start doing. You can exercise as hardcore as you want.

Usually, if you normally workout intensely, they let you continue doing that once you’re pregnant. You just don’t want to make a drastic change AFTER you’re prego.

Richard asks…

Is it possible to safely lose weight while pregnant?

When my daughter was 5 months old I got pregnant again, Im happy about having another child but I didn’t get to lose all my pregnancy weight from my daughter and I don’t want to gain too much weight so is it possible to safely lose weight while I am pregnant now?!?

weight loss cardiff answers:

It is NEVER recommended that a pregnant women try to lose weight while pregnant.
You can however not take in as many calories and exercise to limit the amount that you gain.
You need to gain some weight while pregnant so that your baby can develop accordingly.
Just eat right, exercise and try not to give into every naughty craving.
But sometimes if you are craving something, it is your body telling you that you need it for some reason or another.
Good luck on your pregnancy

Lizzie asks…

Is it ok to lose weight while pregnant?

It’s slightly possible that I may be pregnant. Won’t know until I miss my period. However, I started dieting and exercising recently and I’m actually losing weight and doing well with it. If it turns out that I am pregnant, should I stop dieting and exercising or should I just change how I’m doing it?
Thanks!

weight loss cardiff answers:

No. Any doctor will tell you that. What you can do is just make sure you are eating healthy. Don’t eat any more calories than you need for you both to be healthy. While pregnant that is only about an extra 300 calories a day. And you can take walks everyday to stay active.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Charles asks…

I really need help with weight loss!?

I’m a 15 year old girl and a sophomore in high school. I’m so tired of being called fat and having people make fun of me for my weight. I’m currently 235 and i want to get down to at least 170. Only problem is, i can never seem to be motivated enough to do something. I never wanna get up and exercise, its hard to stick to a actual diet because of school lunches. I really need a good idea of what i should be eating, easy and simple weight loss exercises and, something to help motivate me to lose. Thanks (:

weight loss cardiff answers:

Well first off you need to really want this for yourself…not for others. Then cut out all sugary drinks, drink plenty of water, and walking is the best way to lose weight. It is working for me so far. I know school lunches suck, my 16 year old refuses to eat them. So either think about taking your lunch or cutting back on what you buy for lunch.

Donna asks…

Easy weight loss/getting toned advice?

I am like 5’6 and about 125 pounds. I want to get healthier and lose a little weight and get toned, especially a flat stomach!!!!! Here is the catch: I hate running and I cant do a lot of things with my knees (lunges, etc) because they are really weak. But i am open to other exercises and food advice…. I want to make this process as fast as possible! Thank you!

weight loss cardiff answers:

The part that isnt flat in your stomach is fat and you’ll have to get rid of that by doing cardio. Since your legs aren’t strong though, you’ll have to either train them to be able to run OR just swim! Swimming is really easy on the limbs. You don’t even have to do a million laps, just casually glide and it’ll be worth it an hour everyday. At 125lbs and 5’6″, you may become underweight, so make sure you are eating enough. Abs are made in the kitchen, so make sure you have a healthy supply of everything and be weary of carbs and sugars, as that adds to the stomach! Good luck.

Carol asks…

Easy weight loss plans?

Im in great need of losing weight. I’ve tried exercise to substituting meals with Herbalife shakes. I need a way of losing weight and fast!

weight loss cardiff answers:

There is no ‘magic pill’ for losing weight. It all comes down to calories in / calories out. Not only ‘portion control’ is key but also you need to know what type of nutrition you are getting from the foods you are eating. Are you meeting your protein, fiber, calorie daily intake? Are drinking enough water / fluids? Are you exercising regularly?

It’s not easy but definitely possible. I lost 26 lbs in 12 weeks because I was consistent with my ‘weight loss plan’. I was eating 5 to 6 times a day. 2 Herbalife shakes (breakfast & lunch), mid-morning & mid-afternoon snacks and a healthy dinner. Check my profile for more details.
