What site is the best for weight loss?

I am 23 year young and I would love to get some help and guidance on my new weight loss goal. I am 5’5 and 265 lbs. I would like to write blogs meet people in the same boat and people who are where I want to be. I am really committed to this. I don’t want to lose my life over a Debby cake. Thanks for your help.

Diabetes – Can you please explain to me how sugar in urine causes weight loss?

I read somewhere how the cause of weight loss in diabetes was that sugar spilt into the urine and it caused weight loss. I dont really understand it though and dont know what to search google for lol. Could you please explain it to me?

What is “Spilling Sugar” and How Does It Relate to Kidney Damage?

Each person has a certain blood sugar level at which the kidneys will start pulling glucose out of the blood stream and eliminating it in the urine. The average level at which this happens is around 180 mg/dl (10 mmol/l). In fact, before blood sugar meters became common, most doctors diagnosed type 2 diabetes using a urine dip, and patients “controlled” their blood sugar by testing their urine for glucose and feeling confident they were doing well if they didn’t see any.

However, that 180 mg/dl threshold is only an average. Individuals vary greatly in where they, personally, will spill glucose into the urine.

Some people have forms of diabetes (particularly MODY-3) where they can spill glucose in urine at levels as low as 140 mg/dl.

Others have forms of diabetes where glucose doesn’t appear in the urine until our blood sugar goes over 250 mg/dl.

It is possible that there is a relationship between how much glucose appears in the urine and your risk for kidney damage, though there isn’t enough research to draw any conclusions. But if your renal threshold is unusually low, it makes sense to try to keep your blood sugar at a level low enough that you don’t spill sugar, even if you are spilling at a level your doctor tells you is “nothing to worry about.”

Why does spilling sugar cause weight loss?

Some of the calories you are eating are going right back out of your body, through the urine, instead of being used by your muscle cells.

Because you don’t have enough insulin in your body, or because of insulin resistance, your cells can’t unlock the sugar and use it. You eat, but you lose weight.

Your cells are literally starving for glucose, even though you have too much glucose in your blood. The sugar is locked out, and can’t get into the part of the cell that burns it for fuel.

Too much glucose becomes toxic to your body, so your kidneys have to dump it.

This is what causes all the urinating that is so common in undiagnosed diabetes, and also in diabetics that have bad glucose control. This also causes extreme thirst too, and can lead to serious consequences, if left untreated.

Untreated high blood sugar causes kidney damage, nerve and blood vessel damage, heart disease and eye disease, so its not a safe way to lose weight.

This can happen in both type 1 and type 2 diabetics.

(My grandmother’s blood sugar got high enough to spill sugar quite often, she lost a lot of weight, and went into a diabetic coma more than once. Now my mother is in the same situation. Type 2 runs on both sides of my family).

What sickness can cause this much weight loss?

A 17 yr old male that I knew has recently missed 2 days of school. During that time he lost 10 lbs! He came back very shaky and well…sick looking. What could this be? I’ve only heard of one thing that could cause such rapid weight loss (untreated Type I Diabetes) but what else could it be? Can the flu do that to you too?

How to lose weight being a vegetarian and a teen?

I’m 14 years old 5’1” and 145 pounds. I’m trying to find ways to lose weight being a vegetarian. Almost everything I look at ( what your supposed to eat, recipes etc.) says to eat meat/fish at least once a day for protein to help you lose weight. Can someone please give me things to eat everyday being a vegetarian and exercises to do to help me lose weight?

It sounds strange, but some people have reported that they lost more weight when they drank black coffee before a workout. While there’s no hard data to support this, nutritionists speculate that the caffeine in coffee makes the body rely more on fat for fuel during the work out. It’s worth trying!

How to lose the extra weight and become a decent runner?

I’m 24 yrs old and weighing in at 235lbs. I try to lose weight and so far nothing has helped. There’s nothing wrong with me medically. I joined Weight Watchers and have a gym membership but nothing has helped. I want to lose the weight and actually be able to run for at least half an hour non stop. Currently I cannot run for two minutes without stopping. I’m looking for any advice to help lose the weight and start running; maybe a routine that has helped you.

Though I’m a girl, I started out pretty darned pudgy and unable to run if my life depended on it. Managed to lose about 30 lbs down to 115 (and I’m fairly short, so that’s a solid difference). Start by running for two minutes and walking for a few. Once you’ve caught your breath, run for two minutes again. Keep doing this for about 45-60 mins. The next time you go running, push it to three minutes before trying to catch your breath again. You can keep pushing it up more and more over the next few months. You should also work on eating more lean foods instead of things heavy in carbs. Just because you worked out doesn’t mean you have free reign to eat anything you want.

I used to barely be able to jog slowly for a mile, so far this year I’ve done four half marathons (all around 8:30 miles) and 2 sprint triathlons, and actually won my age group in the last one (though it was a fairly small one, but I like to forget that part!)

Hi, I’m 17 and I’ve been trying to lose weight since last month, but I was wondering, how can I lose my excess weight fast? And about the water weight, where does this come from, how will I know if I have water weight, and how can I lose it? There’s one thing I don’t understand, If drinking a lot of water helps you lose weight, then what is water weight? Can I have this water weight by simply drinking water?

What are some foods that are easy to make or buy that are really good for diets? Besides salads and the obvious. Like for example i heard that a whole artichoke only has 25 calories, does anyone know any more?

Alright, here are some healthy fat burning foods you should try:

Citrus Foods are a safe bet. Things like oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons, and limes has tons of Vitamin C, which has a fat burning quality by reducing it’s contents or diluting and liquefying fat. Try it in every meal and snack!

For example, pink grapefruit only has 40 calories for a half serving! Eat it as it is for breakfast, or toss it into a salad with spinach! Spinach, by the way, is powerful! With only 13 calories for two cups of chopped raw spinach, this fat-burning vegeatable can be eaten raw in salads, steamed as a side dish, or sauteed in a bit of olive oil!

Oh wait! Olive oil is also useful in diet foods! Even though a tablespoon is 125 calories, but drizzled on a 13 calorie spinach salad with a little lemon juice and some garlic, and you have a healthy meal with less than 150 calories!

Whole grain breads, a biggie! If you’re on a 1500 calorie day diet, than about 900 calories should come from grains, fruits, and veggies! Replace those white bread slices with half a cup of oatmeal or whole grain cereal, and you’ll feel fuller too!

Fish!!! Eat at least three servings of fish per week! Because it has omega 3, it will try to build cells from other fatty acids! Yay! So you are replacing your portions of meat with fish, not adding them to what you already eat!

Soybeans contain a lot of lecithin, which prevents fat from forming on your cells, and breaks down fatty deposits in your body! Eat it at least three times a week and you’ll be thin in no time!

Apples, Berries, and Fresh Fruit is awesome! Apples contain a lot pectin (as well as most berries and fresh fruit), which helps release fat deposits accumulated in cells. Add applesauce, apples, fresh fruit and berries to your diet every day!

Okay, I know it sounds a little gross but Garlic Oil can help. The juice of garlic has a significant protective quality to cells which help reduce fatty deposits. Anything with garlic helps brings down the levels of fat (as well as keep those vampires away!)

Does anyone have any good and TASTEY ideas for diet foods.
I’m 19 years old, and I want to lose about 10-15 pounds for the summer, and I am working on a REALLY REALLY tight budget. Does anyone know of any low or no fat salad dressing that tastes good?
any other suggestions?

Salad Spritzer is a great salad dressing, really low calorie & low-fat, the italien is my fav. Here is a link with some low-cal yummy recipe’s if your interested, I update the recipe’s about once a month adding to it what I’ve found…

can anyone name some classic foods that they really stick to wen dieting? i love sugar free jello and drink diet soda alot. im looking for things along those lines. just junk to keep ur mouth busy. i like to eat for the sake of it. just looking for extra little tricks of the trade i havent caught onto for ppl who like to constantly be ingesting something. i figure its prob unhealthy to just sit around stuffing my face with fruit loops or something.
