Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

George asks…

How to gain weight without eating poorly?

How do you gain weight (I’m skinny) without eating poorly and while still being able to exercise without losing weight?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Concentrate on getting your calories from eating lots of good fats such as nuts, avocados, and oil like olive oil. You can easily sneak them in anywhere such as cereals, add oil and avocados to salads. Get your protein from lean meats, milk, and cheeses. Increase your portion sizes at meal times. Instead of drinking water, drink milk, juices and smoothies and snack on dried fruits as well because they are more energy densed then fruit. Limit cardio work such as running and perhaps do weights. Good luck!

Daniel asks…

Without money for a gym, what is the best exercise to help you lose weight and tighten legs and stomache?

I would like to lose weight in about a month but Im not sure the best way to do it. I dont have money for a gym membership and I’m not sure what to eat to help. I would like to tighten up my thighs and my stomache.

James asks…

What are some good cardio exercises that are easy on the ankles?

I really should be getting into cardio, but my ankles hurt easily. Not just my ankles, my whole foot does. Apparently my foot is breaking down and my weight is a major factor. But to lose weight means to exercises means breaking down my foot even faster!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Buy a treatmill or bike-even cheap treadmills and bikes work.

Let me give you some food and mini work out tips you can start.

I’m a Vegetarian and I’m super thin, and I always have a lot of protein, and I hate tofu loll …and I have tons of snacks to choose from

I bareeeely work out ….and I’ve never had a belly, big thighs, or big butt SO Listen k? I’m pretty much perfect-its not cocky,i just am…

Walk Walk Walk! And walk some more…its actually better than running….running makes your ankles weak over time. Do you want that when your older? I don’t think so. I actually do the bike, which is amazing…the faster you petal the more calories you burn….the belly is actually burning fat b/c you are sweating. Not a lot of ppl. Know that walking on treadmill/bike/or walking outside burns fat around the mid section…but it is so true. ALSO IMPORTANT: Do not use incline k? B/c your thighs will get bigger…try little to no resistance!! 🙂 Walking also will burn the extra surrounding fat that is covering muscles (underneath it)…so definitely do a lot of carido. Try sit ups too like 2 to 3 times a week to make abs show quicker!

Being a vegetarian or even one that eats red meat or dairy like ONCE IN AWHILE is the best to be one because you are healthy as a horse and you won’t have that excess fat and food inside your intestines that most red meats do.

I’m not trying to promote becoming a vegetarian, but here me out ok?

Here’s what I eat and my protein is perfect and I’m super healthy and have tons of snacks to choose from

Having a high protein diet is good in loosing fat, and keeping lean muscles, because usually the more protein is in a food-the less Total fat and calories from fat!

I eat lots of beans (Lima, Soy, red kidney, black, navy- RAW; never in can(but that is just my choice-if you wanted canned its NOOOO PROBLEM)

Try Quinoa too, you can find it in your grain, beans, or nut aisles

I also eat lots of salad with tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, carrots-yum yum!

The entire kosher aisle has manyyyy products to munch on! Geez! 🙂

Also, Some Kashi products are great to snack on!-especially the ones marked with high protein or protein added

Try Edamame too!- tons of protein and tastes delicious! (Veggie section even though it’s a bean loll)-get the non gmo kind.

Dairy (if you eat it): cheese-I’d suggest you go for this yogurt called “Fage 0” or “Chobani” yogurt (it has about 15 grams of protein in it I believe)… Ummm lets see, what else? All Goat products are good too and high in protein.

ALL vegetables are fun and easy to cook-I like broccoli, asparagus, yams, pumpkin, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower-and you can do whatever you want with it (fry, boil, steam, baked…etc.)

Have you ever heard of Matzo’s? (Kosher Aisle) they are crackers that have 4 grams of fat per serving (1) and only has 21 grams to 27 grams of Carbs in it depending on which version you get. BUT make sure you get the 100% whole wheat ones ya know?-just to be the healthiest. There is also absolutely no sugar in it either (sugar if not burned turns into fat btw)…..
The calories range from like 98 to 150 calories too! Oh, did I mention they are extremely delicious!?

Mott’s applesauce, no added sugar is one of my favorite things to eat too!
You can find organic applesauce too which provide different flavors without added sugar
All “no added sugar” products are phenomenal

NOTE: BEEF-honestly it is very bad for you and does not leave your intestine for months and months (look it up on internet…it’s the worse food for you in the world I believe, even worse than junk food-unless used in moderation and VERY VERY small portions)

Brown rice or even white rice is great too-I love Uncle Bens’ version
Miso soups are fantastic as well as any other soups (especially the ones with very little sodium)

Fruit is ALWAYS a great snack at night!

Ok, that’s all I can think about now off the top of my head, if you need to know anymore then just message me k?

Take care

(I know I went on a rampage here, but I honestly hope this helps!)

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Michael asks…

Do you really need exercise to lose weight?

I’ve been busy working I don’t have time to lift weights or run anymore I’ve been eating healthy but my question is has anyone lost weight without exercising? If so what to eat or what schedule do you follow please be specific all answers are appreciated and please nothing offensive. Thanks.

weight loss cardiff answers:

No, you do not need to exercise to lose weight. It’s advised that you do some sort of activity though as it helps. Exercise is 20% of weight loss. What you eat is 80%. Eating healthy is a relative term. Are you eating balanced?

I took off 20 pounds in a couple of weeks doing a nutritional cleanse. Feel great, my clothes are falling off of me and I don’t go around hungry. Can’t tell you here what I do but if you contact me directly I’ll be happy to share. (makeyouthin at yahoo).

There are a couple of things you can do.

Firstly, eat a balanced diet for your individual metabolism type, the right proportions of proteins, fats and complex carbs. You can find out about your type for free at several sites on the Internet or you can type in Google “easydietforlife diet-assessment” without the quote marks to get to a good one.

I would suggest being active rather than exercising. Walk for 30 minutes, swim, ride a bike, that sort of thing. You could even check out burst training, it’s real quick and very effective.

If you want to learn how your body functions so you can eat properly for the rest of your life read the ebook “GOING FAT2Lean.”

You will get how our bodies function, just how Mother Nature intended us to feed them.

What you can do immediately is the following:
*Stop drinking all sodas
*Drink half your weight in ounces of water daily
*Stay away from all “white” foods (they are simple carbs that turn into glucose easily) – bread, pasta, white rice, white potatoes.
*Eat three meals a day and 3 snacks a day.
*Don’t eat anything 3 hours before going to sleep.
*Don’t eat any fast food
*Shop around the perimeter of your market. Stay away from packaged foods.
*Take a good multi-vitamin, omega-3, CoQ10, and a good antioxidant every day.
*Do not count calories. It’s a myth. The body counts nutrition.

Keep us posted!

Good luck,

RICK

Jenny asks…

Would high protein diet help me lose weight and build muscle same time?

Ok, im 14 working out 4-5 times a week. Im 150 right now, trying to be 125-130 by the summer. My question is that if i start on high protein diet is it going to help me lose weight and build muscle at the same time?

weight loss cardiff answers:

No. There is no high protein diet however some people refer to the low carb diets as high pro so you may be thinking of low carb. And, if you consume any more protein than you need for building muscle, you’ll just burn it or excrete it. Either one is bad so you should limit yourself to only that amount of protein you need. Remember, protein has the same caloric value as pure sugar.

Here’s what the experts at the US CDC have to say about how much protein you need to provide to support your metabolic processes. –> http://www.cdc.gov/nutrition/everyone/basics/protein.html#How%20much%20protein You can easily get that amount of protein with a glass of milk and a chicken breast or piece of meat per day.

You’ll hear a lot of people tell you that you should have 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. That’s a typical bodybuilder’s formula and it’s a gross over estimate. Most experts use the following formula.

0.8 grams protein per Kg of body weight
-or-
0.36 grams protein per pound of body weight

Bodybuilders usually over estimate their protein needs because most of them are clueless and just pass along what they hear in the gym. And, why not? There’s no liability for getting a little too much so more protein is cheap insurance they are getting enough.

Bodybuilders believe they need a lot more protein that nonbodybuilders because they are building muscle. That, of course, is just wrong because most of the protein we all consume goes to the maintenance of our entire body including cell anabolization for all organs, skin, hair, marrow, smooth muscle, blood and much more which has nothing to do with skeletal muscles. And, people who are not building muscle are still replacing catabolized muscle cells which means most of the protein anyone uses will go to other than skeletal muscle repair. So, if you’re a 160 pound male and you need 58 grams of protein without strength training then another 10% would easily cover you for strength training. That would amount to 5.8 grams per day which would be 174 grams per month or about 6 ounces per month. And, six ounces of new lean muscle mass is a good number for the average growth of a 160 pound male who trains hard. Therefore, you can forget 1 g/pound and go with the 0.8g/Kg or 0.36g/pound and just add 10% if you’re a bodybuilder.

If you’re a total protein freak who really wants to make sure you have more than enough protein and you can handle the extra calories, then just double the amount from the formula. So, if the formula tells you to get 58 grams per day, make sure you get 116 grams per day. There’s no way you could possibly need more than that and that’s still well below the 1 gram per pound which bodybuilders use. Just remember that protein has the same caloric value as pure sugar (4cal/gm) so don’t get too much if you are watching your weight. And, protein in food usually comes with other nutrients including carbs and fats so weight watchers should be careful.

Always get protein from food. It’s the only way you can be sure you’re getting dietary balance and the amount of protein you need as supplements may or may not contain the amount stated on the product label. Supplements should always be avoided unless recommended by a health care professional according to the US NIH.

Remember, you will be limited in your ability to add muscle because you will not have your adult level of testosterone, the muscle building hormone, until your mid-20s. Can I lose weight by just drinking protein shakes?

Plus Exercise and anything else? Or will it make me more fat? I heard someone just drank the shakes plus exercise and lost weight fast. Any real thoughts?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Chris asks…

How to lose weight being a vegetarian and a teen?

I’m 14 years old 5’1” and 145 pounds. I’m trying to find ways to lose weight being a vegetarian. Almost everything I look at ( what your supposed to eat, recipes etc.) says to eat meat/fish at least once a day for protein to help you lose weight. Can someone please give me things to eat everyday being a vegetarian and exercises to do to help me lose weight?

weight loss cardiff answers:

It sounds strange, but some people have reported that they lost more weight when they drank black coffee before a workout. While there’s no hard data to support this, nutritionists speculate that the caffeine in coffee makes the body rely more on fat for fuel during the work out. It’s worth trying!

Mary asks…

How to lose the extra weight and become a decent runner?

I’m 24 yrs old and weighing in at 235lbs. I try to lose weight and so far nothing has helped. There’s nothing wrong with me medically. I joined Weight Watchers and have a gym membership but nothing has helped. I want to lose the weight and actually be able to run for at least half an hour non stop. Currently I cannot run for two minutes without stopping. I’m looking for any advice to help lose the weight and start running; maybe a routine that has helped you.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Though I’m a girl, I started out pretty darned pudgy and unable to run if my life depended on it. Managed to lose about 30 lbs down to 115 (and I’m fairly short, so that’s a solid difference). Start by running for two minutes and walking for a few. Once you’ve caught your breath, run for two minutes again. Keep doing this for about 45-60 mins. The next time you go running, push it to three minutes before trying to catch your breath again. You can keep pushing it up more and more over the next few months. You should also work on eating more lean foods instead of things heavy in carbs. Just because you worked out doesn’t mean you have free reign to eat anything you want.

I used to barely be able to jog slowly for a mile, so far this year I’ve done four half marathons (all around 8:30 miles) and 2 sprint triathlons, and actually won my age group in the last one (though it was a fairly small one, but I like to forget that part!)

Steven asks…

How can I lose my actual weight and my water weight fast?

Hi, I’m 17 and I’ve been trying to lose weight since last month, but I was wondering, how can I lose my excess weight fast? And about the water weight, where does this come from, how will I know if I have water weight, and how can I lose it? There’s one thing I don’t understand, If drinking a lot of water helps you lose weight, then what is water weight? Can I have this water weight by simply drinking water?

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Helen asks…

Getting rid of my beer gut, tips for this diet plan?

Now I am 5’8 and weigh about 160 lbs, which isn’t much for a male, or even considered overweight, but I am not a muscly guy, so I would say I have an easy 10 lbs on my stomach/man boobs of beer greatness.

I will also note, that I do not want to loose any of the muscle mass I do have.
Now I have never really had to diet or work out a lot(outside of job requirements) so I am new to this.

So I was thinking a high nutrition/low carbs diet, you know, the food that sucks, and I was going going to foot march around 4-6 miles a day with about 40lbs in my back pack for the next two weeks, as well as moderate weight lifting just to keep my muscles, twice a week for just a half hour or so. Also keeping my daily calories low, 1300ish.

Would their be any weight loss outlook in that? And really, if I don’t really loose wait it does not matter, I just want to get rid of my torso fat. And also, would I Iose any muscle weight(I do not want this)?

Also note that I am a conditioned marcher so I do not need any input on that.

weight loss cardiff answers:

First: Knock off the beer. But don’t replace it with ice cream, sodas, candy, cake, etc.
What you need is a balanced diet. And exercise.
Guts come from overcarbing & lack of exercise, but replacing the carbs w/ a high protein diet will knock off some weight (with exercise), but it will come right back when you slip into old habits.
Recommended: The Zone, Barry Sears. He has a website & a dozen books. It’s all about a balanced diet that avoids the junk–fat & sugar–that is the staple of the modern American diet.
But you don’t starve yourself, there is plenty of variety. It’s just well-balanced. Like we used to eat.
It’s not a “crash”–just a healthy, gradual body readjustment.

Sandra asks…

I’m 14, and need some tips/tricks to lose fat… help please?

I’m a 14 year old male, I’m about 5′ 6 and am between 140 and 145 lbs. I have some stomach fat, and some “flab” on my chest =/
I keep being told that I am fat, and have man boobs. I work out every saturday for about 2 hours, but am not seeing any fat loss, just muscle gain.
My goal is to lose belly fat, my man boobs, my love handles, and slim my butt down.
Please, supply me with some easy tricks to lose this fat.

I looked through allot of other questions similar to this one, and see allot of “dont worry about your body, your weight is fine, kids are so cruel” etc. Please don’t answer like that, I know kids are cruel, and I’m sick of it. Please just give me some tips/tricks.

thanks

weight loss cardiff answers:

First off, make a promise to yourself that you’re going to stick with it. Eat healthy foods, & exercise. Don’t eat more calories than you can burn. Most importantly, let your friends know you want their support. & anyone who makes fun of you, just say “since i’m such a fata**, shut up or i might sit on you.”

Betty asks…

How can I get out of the rut in my relationship? Plus more issues!?

My boyfriend and I have been in a serious relationship for almost three years. Lately things have been relatively “blah” as we call it. We’re not BORED; we’re happy with each other. We do love one another and we make each other laugh; so there is nothing bad in that department. He is my best friend — my rock.

However, roughly six months ago, I asked him to be honest about the one thing that makes any man cringe: Have I been gaining weight, and do you think I am sexy? He didn’t want to answer, but I made him anyway, even though I knew what the answer was in my head. His answer was that, yes, I have gained weight, and unfortunately it has been a factor is us not having sex as much as we used to. I didn’t think it was going to, but oh man, did that kill my confidence. He tells me I am still beautiful, but it’s just not the same. I don’t feel happy with my body, and now I know he isn’t happy with it either. In turn, this makes me not want to initiate anything, knowing that he doesn’t love my body that much. I have gained about 30 pounds in two years, and I am only 22 years old. I am being treated for hypothyroidism but my treatment isn’t showing any serious changes.

I know what to do: Work out and diet. Easier said than done. I am a full time student going into PR at Wayne State University, and I work five – six days a week. I also still live at home, and my mother buys my food. Granted, she is a diabetic, so it is not like we have junk food in the house. I mostly slip up when I am at school or going out to the bar or a restaurant with my boyfriend or friends.

My diet and exercise issues are not the whole point of this, however it IS a factor. I think that if I felt good about my body, it would be easier to get out of the rut in our relationship. I need to get tips about what I can do otherwise, while I am trying to get into shape. Granted, if you have any tips for my situation in regards to my weight loss, feel free to comment! I DO need to know some tricks of the trade to get our relationship fun again. He is working on his master’s degree, and also works full-time in construction. He also lives with his mother – so it’s really difficult to spice things up with parents around. I would like to do something that might bring back more of the emotions rather than the physical excitement. Do they go hand-in-hand? PLEASE help!

Oh – and one more thing. He has recently gained friendship with an old friend he used to have feelings for in high school. He is completely open with me about their friendship, and I know for a fact he would not cheat on me, but I don’t trust her. I’ve hung out with her, and she loves me and my boyfriend as a couple, but I can’t help but one day be worried that she is going to steal my boyfriend’s heart. She is REALLY cool, and totally his type. I tell my boyfriend my concerns, and he tells me I have nothing to worry about. He tells me that he loves me, and his feelings for her are strictly platonic, but I still feel really insecure when they hang out together when I am not there. He also is not hiding anything from me about her, even if he knows it makes me sad if they hang out. He says he just wants me to know so I can get used to it, and by telling me everything, he is not hiding anything. If I were to ask him not to hang out with her when I am not there, he would be annoyed, because I would be denying him hanging out with a friend. He would resent me more than be understanding, only because he says he has zero feelings for her in that way. Also, I enjoy hanging out with her too…she really is a very cool, nice girl. This makes things even more confusing for my boyfriend…I like her, he likes her (as a friend) but yet I don’t like her hanging out with him…does that make any sense at all? How do I handle this? What can I tell myself to calm down about them hanging out?

I KNOW this is long, but please, PLEASE help!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Okay here’s the thing. You need to stop forcing him into telling you things he knows will hurt you, which will then hurt him.

Also, maybe the two of you should start going out and doing different things together, here and there, to break up the monotony.

Have you two considered a new hobby, a new passion of some kind? Maybe work out together, and make your body a project for both of you.

Change the kinds of sex you have and the times when you have it, so its more spontaneous and fun. Sex is supposed to be playing together, not just some rigid, mechanistic thing you do.

And you have to learn how to handle the ennui. That is break up the boredom.

Boredom comes around when you do the same, repetitive things, and develop the same annoying habits over time. So start breaking up the monotony and colorizing your world together instead of fading to black and white.
