Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Linda asks…

Have you or someone in your family had a gastric bypass surgery?

My mother is having it in a couple weeks. I’m getting really nervous…

Can anyone tell me what to expect? I don’t live with her, but I’m very concerned about her ability to conform to the new diet. She’s a compulsive over-eater. She’s not huge like people you see get the procedure on television. She’s 275 lbs and 5’5″, though so she’s still pretty overweight. I’m very worried about her dying or just getting fat again after going through such an invasive procedure. The worst is that I don’t have a really close relationship with my mother so I don’t feel comfortable enough to voice my concerns. She’s never really committed herself to any weight loss routine for more than a couple of weeks, and I worry that she’ll eat too much with her new 4 ounce stomach and it will rupture and kill her.

Can anyone tell me anything to ease my worries? Success stories and bad stories alike are welcome. I just want to know what to prepare myself for.

weight loss cardiff answers:

My husband’s best friend had a gastric bypass about five years ago after failing to lose weight on various diets. His surgery went well, he’s had a successful recovery and his weight is down at a healthy level. However, he was willing to adjust his diet afterwards so that he could stay healthy. The problem for your mom (as it is for many gastric bypass patients) may be that she can’t eat much food at one time after the surgery so she’s always hungry. If she’s a compulsive overeater, she may end up snacking constantly which will undo the effects of the surgery.

James asks…

What is your weight loss success story?

Hey guys, I’m currently trying to be healthier and exercising more, and have lost four kilograms so far. I’m just looking for some motivational stories, so let me know about your weight loss!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Well, let me start at the beginning. Growing up I never had any problems with weight. Up until I was 18, the most i ever weighed was 120 pounds. Well, right after I turned 19, I had some pretty bad things happen in my life. I wont go in to details, but those 4 years of my life were PURE hell. I coped with what was going on by eating, eating, and eating til I hit the highest weight of my life-194 pounds. Last year around September, my life started to turn around and things got WAY better. It was then that I decided that I really wanted the Old me back. SO, I started Weight Watchers online and walking on the treadmil 3-4 times a week. I started out walking 2 miles each time but that gradually increased to 4 miles each time. With the cardio and Weight Watchers-which is by far the BEST diet program EVER-I reached my goal weight of 120 pounds in April. So in 7months I lost 76 pounds! I feel like the old me and I am happier than I have been in years!

Thomas asks…

Does anyone know where I can submit my weight loss success story?

I have been using the Wii Fit in conjunction with eating healthy and since September, I have lost 64 pounds. I really want to get my story out there to inspire others!

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Lizzie asks…

What is average weight loss for one week?

I was wondering if anyone knew what an average weight loss per week is. I started eating healthy last week at around 1200 calories *because I wasn’t yet working out* and lost 4 pounds. Now, I’ve started eating around 1600 calories because I’m alternating with aerobics and pilates and I have already lost 2 more pounds. I want the weight that I lose to stay off *just had a baby and had a few extra pounds after getting married!* What do doctors recommend losing, and if I’m losing too much, should I add more calories or willthe weight loss taper off after a few weeks?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Healthy weight loss is around 2 pounds a week but that can be done at a way higher rate depending on the diet

Sharon asks…

What is the best way to burn fat after a rapid weight loss?

I was recently taken off of a steroid medication (prednisone) and thus, lost a significant amount of weight quite rapidly as the medication was reduced. In total, I lost about 50 pounds within the span of a few months.

Unfortunately, due to the sheer speed of the weight loss, this has left me with some awkward fat around my chest and stomach. I’m quite slim now (6’1″ and 145 lbs) but in need of some toning and trimming.

Which types of exercises are most efficient in eliminating/reducing residual fat? I’m hesitant to jump straight to muscle toning because I have read from a few sources that muscle in fact builds behind fat – not reducing it, but instead pushing it out further.

Any techniques/styles/routines etc. that aim to burn fat are most appreciated.

Thank you!

William asks…

Is the anyone who can share their weight loss success stories?

Success stories only please lol for motivation trying to lose weight so I need to know what to do,how and what to eat exercises that kinda stuff

weight loss cardiff answers:

For losing weight the first step you need to do is being positive and staying positive and you have to be committed to the process. Loosing weight isn’t something that’s going to happen over night. It takes time to loose weight, it can take a couple of months of even years to loose weight and get in shape depending on your weight loss goals and how much you want to loose. Remember, even getting out of shape isn’t a process that’s going to happen over night either. It takes time and even weeks, months, or years to get out of shape. It gradually happens step by step over time..

First you can start by eating right! What I mean by that is making sure you eat healthy and eat 4-6 meals per day. Make sure your drinking plenty of water and is getting enough sleep.. You want anywhere between 6-8 hours of sleep.. You can start working out in the mornings when your metabolism is at its highest and start doing some cardio workouts on a empty stomach before eating.. Doing so will cause the body to break down the fat cells that your body is holding on too and convert that into energy which will help you loose weight.. You can also buy a home gym, resistance bands, and kettle bells,to aid you in your weight loss goals for losing weight and getting in shape…

Does anyone know much about the green-juice diet?

I have heard that the green juice diet is good for weight loss and I am considering it. Any success stories?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Are you talking about green smoothies? The diet that allowed me to lose 90 pounds is the “whole plant based diet.” This way of eating is a permanent lifestyle change. It involves consuming foods in their natural and unprocessed form. For more information, look up recipes for “green smoothies” and also learn about the diets recommended by Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Neal Barnard, and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr.

Former President Bill Clinton announced that he lost 24 pounds on this diet just to get in shape before his daughter’s wedding.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Linda asks…

Anyone want to share their weight loss success story?

I just wanted to read peoples success story about the weight they lost and maybe it can also motivate some people to MOVE IT. Please tell us your height, the weight at which you were before the loss, how long it took you, and what was your regime (diet and exercise) like.

weight loss cardiff answers:

I’m a 5’11” male who is also 59 years of age. When I went to Weight Watchers last November ( November of 2006) I weighed 242lbs. I have always been active throughout my adult life which has helped. When I started Weight Watchers I wanted to set an achievable goal and decided to train to power walk a 20 mile race in Lake Tahoe, CA. Which I did. I now weigh 215 and plan to lose the other 25 I wanted to lose this year. My exercise goal is to run a half-marathon. I’m pleased with my achievements and the organization that helped me realize them. Viz. Weight Watchers. I can be pretty relentless when I set a goal, so I’m hoping for continued success this year.

Sandra asks…

Has ANYONE EVER tried ANY diet pill and saw ANY kind of results?

Any question that anyone asks about diet pills always gets a million answers about how 100% of diet pills are scams and none of them work at all for anyone. I’m sick of that. This question isn’t for nay sayers, if you HAVE tried any kind of diet pill and had ANY weight loss success from it, please tell me your story.

Joseph asks…

What are some weight loss tips for picky eaters?

I am an extremely picky eater. I don’t like many of the foods that you would consider “diet” food. It’s hard for me to lose a good amount of weight without basically starving myself. My success stories of losing weight in the past are eating one meal a day, but that is not an option anymore. When I work out, I lose weight, but not fast enough to suit me. Does anyone have any advice? I’m probably asking for a lot, considering I’m so picky.

Thanks!

weight loss cardiff answers:

I am also a picky eater. What I do is eat the foods I like but in smaller portions and more frequently.
I eat small, 300 calorie portions every few hours. It helps keeps my blood sugar steady and puts my metabolism to work. I started doing this last month, and along with some full-body workouts, I’ve lost 10 lbs.
