Quality foods don’t have the word “diet” on the bag because they don’t have anything in them that will make a cat fat. Don’t buy “diet” foods.

Feed this cat a food with MEAT as the main ingredient and little to no grain. Some excellent brands include Innova Evo, Petcurean Go! Natural, Blue Buffalo Wilderness. All three of these are 50% meat protein and ZERO grain. Also give the cat quality canned food made with chicken, turkey or duck daily. In fact, you may want to feed JUST canned at first.

Until chubby cat’s down to a healthy weight don’t free freed him – just put a very small handful of dry food out twice a day and split one of the tiny cans of food into two or three servings. Then once he’s slimmed up a bit you can leave the healthy dry food out. Even if he grazes during the day on it it won’t pack on the pounds like the cheap dry foods that are made mostly of corn. My Persian’s been eating these foods for the past three years and his weight is always the same – 10.9 pounds. And he nibbles a bit all day long.

Get toys that you can wave and he can chase. NOT a laser pointer – those are VERY frustrating for cats as its prey they can never catch. Get “lure” toys with a pole, string and toy on the end. Tinsel/feather wands are great, too. Not only will playing with him daily give him much-needed exercise but it’ll bond him to you.

Do have a vet check him out as soon as you get him. Obesity can lead to a myriad of health issues including diabetes, arthritis, heart problems, kidney problems, etc.

Do you really need exercise to lose weight?

I’ve been busy working I don’t have time to lift weights or run anymore I’ve been eating healthy but my question is has anyone lost weight without exercising? If so what to eat or what schedule do you follow please be specific all answers are appreciated and please nothing offensive. Thanks.

No, you do not need to exercise to lose weight. It’s advised that you do some sort of activity though as it helps. Exercise is 20% of weight loss. What you eat is 80%. Eating healthy is a relative term. Are you eating balanced?

I took off 20 pounds in a couple of weeks doing a nutritional cleanse. Feel great, my clothes are falling off of me and I don’t go around hungry. Can’t tell you here what I do but if you contact me directly I’ll be happy to share. (makeyouthin at yahoo).

There are a couple of things you can do.

Firstly, eat a balanced diet for your individual metabolism type, the right proportions of proteins, fats and complex carbs. You can find out about your type for free at several sites on the Internet or you can type in Google “easydietforlife diet-assessment” without the quote marks to get to a good one.

I would suggest being active rather than exercising. Walk for 30 minutes, swim, ride a bike, that sort of thing. You could even check out burst training, it’s real quick and very effective.

If you want to learn how your body functions so you can eat properly for the rest of your life read the ebook “GOING FAT2Lean.”

You will get how our bodies function, just how Mother Nature intended us to feed them.

What you can do immediately is the following:
*Stop drinking all sodas
*Drink half your weight in ounces of water daily
*Stay away from all “white” foods (they are simple carbs that turn into glucose easily) – bread, pasta, white rice, white potatoes.
*Eat three meals a day and 3 snacks a day.
*Don’t eat anything 3 hours before going to sleep.
*Don’t eat any fast food
*Shop around the perimeter of your market. Stay away from packaged foods.
*Take a good multi-vitamin, omega-3, CoQ10, and a good antioxidant every day.
*Do not count calories. It’s a myth. The body counts nutrition.

Ok, im 14 working out 4-5 times a week. Im 150 right now, trying to be 125-130 by the summer. My question is that if i start on high protein diet is it going to help me lose weight and build muscle at the same time?

No. There is no high protein diet however some people refer to the low carb diets as high pro so you may be thinking of low carb. And, if you consume any more protein than you need for building muscle, you’ll just burn it or excrete it. Either one is bad so you should limit yourself to only that amount of protein you need. And, people who are not building muscle are still replacing catabolized muscle cells which means most of the protein anyone uses will go to other than skeletal muscle repair. So, if you’re a 160 pound male and you need 58 grams of protein without strength training then another 10% would easily cover you for strength training. That would amount to 5.8 grams per day which would be 174 grams per month or about 6 ounces per month. And, six ounces of new lean muscle mass is a good number for the average growth of a 160 pound male who trains hard. Therefore, you can forget 1 g/pound and go with the 0.8g/Kg or 0.36g/pound and just add 10% if you’re a bodybuilder.

If you’re a total protein freak who really wants to make sure you have more than enough protein and you can handle the extra calories, then just double the amount from the formula. So, if the formula tells you to get 58 grams per day, make sure you get 116 grams per day. There’s no way you could possibly need more than that and that’s still well below the 1 gram per pound which bodybuilders use. Just remember that protein has the same caloric value as pure sugar (4cal/gm) so don’t get too much if you are watching your weight. And, protein in food usually comes with other nutrients including carbs and fats so weight watchers should be careful.

Always get protein from food. It’s the only way you can be sure you’re getting dietary balance and the amount of protein you need as supplements may or may not contain the amount stated on the product label. Supplements should always be avoided unless recommended by a health care professional according to the US NIH.

Remember, you will be limited in your ability to add muscle because you will not have your adult level of testosterone, the muscle building hormone, until your mid-20s. RAW FOOD DIET: How do I start a high raw foods diet like the one Kris Karr from Crazy Sexy Cancer is on?

I can’t really figure out how to get started. There is too much info on her websites to sift through. Can anybody tell me how to get started on a raw foods diet. What books do I get, products do I need, etc…

When I was a kid my Mom started eating the raw food diet, and she was extreme about it from the start. She ate nothing but fruit and veggies for 2 years and lost 100 and so pounds. I starved as a child in the house, and often would steal money from her purse to go eat out places, because I was only about 10 years old. She tried to pursue her kids to eat like that, but instead I gained all the weight eating whatever I could outside the house. She eventually had many health problems, and looked like a ghost in the face, so her doctor told her to start eating dairy’s, and she read up on it like crazy and decided that her diet did call for it. Now she is over weight though because she got into a accident that makes it impossible for her to move, and work off the weight, and she is now on this meats, eggs, cheese diet that is slowly working for her, but I think in the long run the weight will stay off, and she can still full and healthy proteins.

I wouldn’t recommend going fully raw foodiest, unless your committed to do it for the rest of your life! Because as soon as you start eating normal foods again the weight will slap right back on!

Yes. ALL vegies and fruits, whole grain foods, legumes (unsalted or low sodium nuts), meatwise ( lean chicken, turkey, fat free ham ), dairy ( 1% milk or fat free milk) and at least a gallon of water everyday!
If you want some ideas I usually eat the following

-1 cup kashi cereal + 1 cup milk + 1 banana + protein shake
OR kashi cereal bar + protein shake
– 3 tbsp pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds ( Good Sense dietary mix)
– salad with Spritz( spray mist dressing) and pita wrap with chicken, turkey, alfalfa sprouts, and veggies.
– 1 apple
– tuna with veggies

Rule of thumb, eat at consistent times 5-6 times a day to avoid being hungry, drink lots of water, avoid processed foods including high fructose corn syrup, anything fried,sauted, baked, and eat foods that are natural (no preservatives, added sugars etc)
Eat carbs in the morning and afternoon until 4pm because that’s when your body begins to slow down

Is it possible to have a vegetarian diet using only fresh whole foods?

I cannot seem to stomach the taste of meat anymore. I have been working for about 2 years to put my husband and I on an all natural whole foods diet. Most of the people I know who are vegetarian eat a lot of junk food and vegetarian meat products, like veggie burgers and bacon. Can you be a healthy vegetarian without using “pretend” foods?

Absolutely. I have several friends in the same boat as you. They hate the taste of meat, and cannot figure why a vegetarian would want something designed to taste like meat. Lots of a variety of veggies, whole grains, and nuts & legumes can produce a perfectly healthy diet, though if you are vegan, you may need to take a supplement of B12, since it is mostly found in animal products. Keep on with what you are doing and ignore the meatless meat eaters around you! For extra protein, tofu and/or soy or almond milk are great additions. Tofu will take on the taste of whatever you put with it, so it can be used in soups, stews, salad dressings, “milk shakes” and simply cooked after marinating to flavor. Good luck and happy eating!
