Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Betty asks…

What are the ‘secrets’ behind weight-loss programmes?

I’m doing a piece of work where I have to evaluate the claims of two weightloss programmes?
I am doing Slim-Fast and Pu-erh (a Chinese tea drink).

They are apparently all clinically-proven to help lose weight but there’s always a catch. I need to write about that!
What could the problems with these two programmes be?

Help!

weight loss cardiff answers:

They are clinical proven to work if you don’t eat junk food, or any high calorie foods and exercise.
Basically the same way you would lose weight without them.

Laura asks…

Can somebody give me a weight loss gym workout program for women?

I can’t find a free weight loss program for women that we can do for a week. Everything is for men.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Gym workout routines for women are specially categorized as there are certain physiological differences between a man and a woman. A woman needs to work out on her gym routine so that she can benefit the most. However, the workout routines should answer the following questions:

* First, how to select the best and convenient place for the workout
* How to kick-start the workout routines efficiently
* How much time needs to be invested in exercising every day
* What aspects one should consider while opting for a exercise schedule

The workout schedules which would help you to lose weight safely and comfortably are as follows:

*Workout schedule 1: Exercises should tone up each and every muscles of the body. In fact, this first routine would be very beneficial for the beginners who have very little time to spare in such work-outs. You must use the first five days of week in carrying out this routine. The first 3 days would be concentrated in weights whereas the next two days would be concentrated in cardio.

* Workout schedule 2: It can also be referred to as the split schedule. However, this routine would help you to reap huge benefits at a very steady pace. As per this exercise your lower and upper body part gets involved in intense work-out. It would help you to lose weight quickly.

*Workout schedule 3: In this routine you exercise to lose weight from targeted areas. In this routine you can exercise with weights for 5 days and get indulged in cardio for 2 or 2 days.

Further, you must be cautious that your workout schedule is effectively toning up your muscles, helping you to lose weight and burn fat etc. It should not matter what your goals are but you should focus on specified exercises to tone up your body and lose weight at a steady pace.

Help with free online weight loss programs?

I need help finding a good free online weight loss program that will help me track how many calories I need to lose and the amount of excerise every day, but every one I go to either makes me pay or won’t let me lose 28 pounds in 8 weeks. Help? Please?

weight loss cardiff answers:

First of all “they wont let me lose 28 pounds in 8 weeks.” They cant control how much you lose, and neither can your body. You can lose 28 pounds in 8 weeks in a healthy way but thats ONLY if you’re about 250+ pounds. (My starting weight was 258 and I lost 20 pounds in my first four weeks.) Also seeing they say you shouldnt lose 28 pounds in 8 weeks, that means it is unhealthy for your current weight to try and lose. Sorry to tell you this but you took the years to put on the weight and it isnt going to take 8 weeks to get it off. There is NO magic pill.

It depends on how often you are exercising. You May not be seeing the pounds but I bet if you measure yourself you will have lost inches instead of pounds. Step up your exercising. See if this won’t help.

Lizzie asks…

How to lose weight fast and easily?

Well you see this is a difficult topic for me.
All my life i’ve been troubled by weight (I’m only 15 and a half)
I’m extremely self conscious about my appearance. For example I get shy if I have to act or read something to the class.
Although I am not the most popular person around, I have a lot of really good friends who have always stood up for me and have always been nice.
Now I come to my main problem:
Girls.
I have never properly gone out with a girl (Much to some people’s amusement).
This is my main motivation for getting fit.
I’m asking for little tips, and don’t give me this “EXCERCISE LOTS LOL or GAG URSELF” crap.
I worked up a lot of courage to come ask this question.
So, please help me with little tips on weight loss and remember I’m only 15, I’m in school and studying so I can’t make constant trips to the gym or just get surgery.
This is a difficult thing for me to ask.
Please help…

weight loss cardiff answers:

You have to EAT HEALTHY, and EXCERCISE!!!!!!!! Its more about a lifestyle change than anything else.

For a healthy diet, you need to be eating small to medium meals regularly. 4 or even 5 times a day. Each meal (apart from breakfast which should preferably be fibre rich), should contain a balanced ammount of carbohydrates for energy, (from potatoes, rice and pasta, etc) protien (from fish, chicken, occassional red meat is fine, soya is good too) and plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants (simple fresh fruit and veg). Eat like this and make sure you are well hydrated (fruit juice is as good as water, any fluid counts, but some fluids have negative effects too, such as alcohol or caffiene rich drinks.)

You can have a wide range of healthy meals with this, from Thai, Chinese, Italian, British, Indian, etc. Just make sure each meal contains balanced ammounts of these three. On the bright side too, fresh veg and rice and pasta is a lot cheaper than crappy junk food!

This doesn’t mean you cant have chocolate or pizza/takeaway/etc, just save them as very occassional treats.

The big secret to keeping a healthy weight and staying healthy is EXCERCISE, particularly cardio excercise (running, swimming, cycling, etc).

Cardio exercise will not only burn calories and reduce your body fat levels, but will also improve your resting heart rate and lung function, making you healthier.

Strength training will help you strengthen and tone your muscles. Heavy weights with short reps/sets will build your fast twitch muscle fibres and build size, power and strength, but if you use light to medium weights with lots of reps/sets, you wont build size, but you will tone up your body and train muscle endurance. This will obviously make you ‘look’ healthier and more toned, but will also increase your metabolism (as your muscles demand more energy) so you will burn calories faster.

As far as excercise goes, you should aim to strike a balance between cardio training and strength training, this way you will build good strong and toned muscle, but also keep your body fat levels down and increase your heart and lung performance, making you much fitter and healthier.

Hope this helps.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Linda asks…

How many weight watchers pro points can my husband have per day?

I have started going to weight watchers and know what my pro points daily allowance is and my husband would like to know his. He is following the same menu as me but would like to know how many points he can have.
He is 31 years old, six foot one and weights 19 stone. Thanks

weight loss cardiff answers:

I don’t know about weight watchers points.

I know that your husband is tall so he should need 2,443 calories just to cover his BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate, male, 31 years old, 6’1 and 266lbs) before needing calories for any calorie expenditure (physical activity).

Your husband should eat 2 or 3 times as much as you eat. If he’s “following the same menu” as you, he should get a second helping, or at least get an appetizer before a meal, a cheese and dessert after and some alcohol in between.

Once I had a 6 feet tall 22 years old student staying at my house, built like an American football player (at least 250lbs, I would guess) and needed to eat 8 times more than I did so I would cook all my recipes for 15 people, 15 servings…one for me, two for my husband and my kids who had to eat twice as much as me, and 8 for that guy.

Men should eat whatever they want and just pay attention that some of it is healthy food. It’s too easy to just eat high calorie junk food to reach your 2,500 BMR, even if you’re a couch potato.

When you’re a man, it’s very hard to eat healthy (some of them don’t even know how to cook!) so you don’t clog your arteries, as you need tons of calories.

Ultimately, when you get in shape, you can eat whatever you want as your body becomes a mean fat burning machine.

Losing weight is not about eating less but about gaining muscle mass that will rev up your metabolism. Men have male hormones and an amazing ability to build up muscle mass (like 5 pounds a month, using weight machines).

Muscle mass is the weight loss miracle. Not only does it make you look better, thinner and toner but also makes you stronger so your aerobics get easier and more efficient and you burn more calories while exercising. Also carrying grocery bags/going up the stairs or anything else is so much easier when you have some muscles in your arms/legs.

Once you get more muscle mass, your metabolism goes up on a 24/7 basis. Each pound of added muscle mass needs 35/50 calories a day to maintain (not even counting the calories for the exercise). Think about this for a minute…it’s 12 to 18 thousand calories a year…it’s 3 to 5 pounds of fat reserves a year that you would either lose or at least not gain (if you eat it). And that is just for one pound of extra added muscle mass.
Also on those days when you’re resting and feeling a little soreness because your muscles are repairing stronger, you can rest assure that you’re burning a lot of calories even if you’re not moving.

William asks…

What are some easy and filling foods for someone on a Vegan Diet to eat?

I just joined my wife with her Vegan lifestyle, and have lost 17 lbs in less than a month, I would like to keep this weight loss up and stay on the diet/fast possibly turning my eating habits around for good. Anyone have any good advice, recipes, snacks, etc. for a curious Vegan

weight loss cardiff answers:

Think fiber and protein. Tofu is excellent and one of the most versatile foods I have ever discovered and a breakfast of scrambled tofu with bell peppers, jalapenos, onion, and a sprinkling of nutritional yeast will keep me going all day.

I’ll also make fried rice with tofu, turmeric, falafel seasoning, sage, or whatever I feel like throwing in the skillet with some rice (even cinnamon and sugar sometimes) because it makes a quick and filling meal at work.

Legumes are probably one of the best examples. Protein and fiber all in one. You can mix up some (drained) cans of kidney beans, black beans, and chickpeas (garbanzo beans) with some pasta and a vegan Italian dressing for a great meal, and even throw some veggies in it. Plus it’s versatile enough to be served as a warm meal (say, with some broccoli thrown in) or as a pasta salad (maybe with a little corn and, still, broccoli).

Nuts and fruit are great, also, as well as oatmeal. I like the organic Irish style oatmeal because it’s thicker. You can eat it plain or with berries or, better yet, some peanut butter and honey.

Acorn squash is also very filling, and there’s some excellent recipes out there for it at vegweb.com and other places as well.

So, basically, get protein and fiber in one sitting and you’ll be full and energized.

Jenny asks…

Does anyone know any healthy easy to make recipes?

Im just trying to lose weight for a cruise in november. I know thats a long ways away but its probably going to take that long. Any ideas?
I dont really like fish

weight loss cardiff answers:

If you want to loose weight, just eat healthy…One rule of thumb for quick and healthy weight loss is eat or drink nothing white… If you can stick to that for a couple weeks, you will be in perfect shape for that cruise…..For example bread, dont eat white bread, eat whole grains…remember moderation as well, you can eat anything just dont eat tons of it….Butter is made from milk….so you cant eat….just try it…and have a great time on your cruise..

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

James asks…

When a kitty is roly poly, how can you get them to eat that diet food?

sometimes cats can be sooo difficult, refusing to eat their prescription diet food. How can we make it more enticing?

weight loss cardiff answers:

It is one of those things that cats do. Your roly poly kitty is spoiled. Ofcourse your kitty is waiting for the good stuff. When he is ready, he’ll eat.

If you are really worried. Perhaps mix some of the old with the new. Until he gets use to it.

David asks…

What is the most favorite tastiest kidney diet cat food that cats will eat and where can I buy it immediately?

My cat refuses to eat the canned kidney diet food that
the vet sells and I am looking for alternatives

weight loss cardiff answers:

Is it k/d? Cause I know A LOT of cats that refuse to eat k/d. There are definitely a few renal diets out there (Purina makes one, Eukanuba makes one – check out felinecrf.com for tons of info) but I recommend Royal Canin Modified Formula. Until about two weeks ago I could have honestly said that I never knew a cat that turned it down, but of course there had to be that one who would make me not be able to ever say that again. But not much can be said for her taste as she chose to eat the k/d over this magical food. Seriously, that’s what we call it at my practice, “Magical Modified” because (almost) every cat will eat it. It has mackerel in it which I think the cats can really taste and LOVE. Plus, you can always add a little chicken broth to any canned food to increase water intake and make the food a little tastier for our finicky friends.
I prefer most Royal Canin therapeutic diets over the Hill’s RX diets anyway. I think they are much more palatable and have higher quality ingredients with less by-products and preservatives. I actually have my cats on the Calorie Control diet.
OK, I’ll stop going on about the RC therapeutic foods, but seriously, try it! You don’t need a prescription for it like you do for the Hill’s foods but you do have to buy it from a veterinarian. If your vet doesn’t carry it, call around to other vets in the area or call Royal Canin and ask them where the closet place is where you can buy their products. (800) 592-6687. If there is a bigger emergency hospital in your area they should carry it. I don’t know where you live so I can’t really help you out with that part, but good luck and I hope she likes it!

Oh, there is also another Royal Canin renal diet called LP but I don’t think that goes over any better than the k/d chicken as far as flavor. But it does come in pouches so it’s more of the chunks and gravy deal than the regular mushy food so if your cat is into that sort of thing, they may prefer LP & you might want to try that.
