Linda asks…

Any tips on getting and staying motivated to reach my weight loss goals?

Last summer I started a weight loss program and was really excited about the prospect of being fit and healthy while I’m still young. Within the first 2 months, I lost almost 20lbs and wasn’t craving chocolate and sweets and other things like that, which I normally crave all the time. Then I went to Chicago for the weekend, and it’s been all downhill from there. I completely lost all my motivation and I think my cravings are even worse now than they were before I started the program last year! I just turned 25 and want to get healthy and fit so that I can better enjoy my life. I’m open to any advice or words of wisdom that might help me get back on track. Thanks in advance!
Ok, I’m not looking for people to tell me what to do to lose weight, because I already know that part. I’m asking about how to MOTIVATE myself to keep it up.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Congrats on working towards a fitter and healthier lifestyle. I don’t have any fancy plans but when I lost some weight and started an exercise program a few years ago I found that sticking to a strict program all the time was very hard. I kept a record of what exercise I did on a calendar (for me it was treadmill so I recorded time and kilometres) It was amazing to watch my improvement and it kept me motivated. With food I aimed for 5 days a week that I ate well – lots of veges etc and no treats. But I let myself have 2 days where I might eat out or splurge. I recorded this and the days might change depending on if I went out mid week or weekend. I found this worked as I could have treats but could also tell from my records how often I was having them. Good luck hope this helps.

Carol asks…

Is it better to do the workout programs on treadmills or just run?

You know how treadmills have “weight loss programs” or “aerobic programs“? Will you lose more weight faster by doing one of those or just simply running on a treadmill?

weight loss cardiff answers:

OK, ignore the spammer above me. Those gimmicks never work and prey on peoples desire to lose weight easily, if they do work, it will be short term and the weight will come back as soon as you stop.

Either will work, the programs might push you a little harder than you’ll push yourself though. Just make sure to spend no less than 30 minutes on the treadmill, at a speed that will keep your heart rate up steadily. Spend no more than 1 hour on a treadmill either. This includes a 5 minute warm up and a 5 minute cool down. You need to make sure to do this when you run too. For weight loss you also need to watch your diet as well. That means eating enough just as it means not eating too much. If you don’t get enough calories your body will burn muscle instead of fat.

EDIT: Shaun is ok, the first answerer is the spammer, in case no one noticed.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Betty asks…

What is a good online weight loss program that will help me lose weight fast?

I am 13 and 155 pounds. I need to know a good online weight loss program that will help me lose thirty pounds before September. If you have any more questions just email me at fifa_samer96@yahoo.com

weight loss cardiff answers:

I have been through it all and know what’s it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can’t be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I’ve worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can’t eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising…

This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it’s good for the heart.

However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It’s so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I’ve found a great addition to help any one out, it’s a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don’t get all crazy on me and say diet pills don’t work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn’t meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It’s an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace dot com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it’s the best pill I’ve tried and I’ve tried cupboards full. Now this doesn’t mean you have to follow my foot steps but I’ve successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.

Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

Individuals involved in weight loss programs often feel fatigued, irritable, and experience headaches.

Your body becomes accustomed to your average daily caloric intake. When you begin decreasing caloric intake, additional stress is placed on your body as it attempts to adapt and become more efficient by increasing your metabolic rate. The result? Fatigue, irritability, and often times – headaches.

During this time it is more essential than ever to provide your body plentiful amounts of pure nutrients required for energy and vitality. Adequate hydration is also essential. Many energy drinks on the market contain high levels of caffeine and other known diuretics, which dehydrate your body. This places strain on your heart while additionally reducing your bodies ability to rid itself of toxins and other harmful chemicals…

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Chris asks…

Do you need insurance to get weight loss surgery such as the lap band or gastric bypass?

I have been overweight since I had my children 14 months apart. I never had problems with my weight before this and my metabolism has slowed down. I have tried many weight loss programs and nothing seems to work. I never lose more that 20 pounds or so. So I have been considering weight loss surgery, probably the lap band. I was wondering if having insurance was a requirement or if you can pay completely out of pocket for something like this?

weight loss cardiff answers:

You can always pay out of pocket for any medical procedure.

If you have good credit, many doctors will let you make payment plans as well. Otherwise, you have to pay in full at the time of service.

Laura asks…

I am looking for a weight loss program?

I am looking for a weight loss program because I have recently put on some weight in the last year, and I see A LOT of different programs, but I was hoping someone might have some good places to start. Thanks in advance

weight loss cardiff answers:

Hi. There.

I actually recently ran into this issue; mainly because I will be 43 soon, and I’ve been drinking a lot of beer cuz my life sucks.

Anyway, I have had two major neck fusions with a titanium plate from c3-c7 that didn’t take, plus a major back fix and fuse with 2 bars that also got botched.

I can’t do a lot of the normal stuff, and haven’t ran since 1990, about 1 year before I got out of the Army.

There are many resources for a good weight loss program, but what really helped me lose about 20 lbs fast was this site: http://topweightlossprogram.info/

I lost like 20 pounds with exercises that even I can do with my physical limitations! It’s an awesome feeling!

Hope it’s as helpful to you as it was me.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Sandy asks…

I need to lose some weight like 10 or 15 lbs im gonna start a diet and work out plan?

would taking the akavar pill while doing this help with weight loss? Or should i stick just to dieting and working out?

weight loss cardiff answers:

I would see a doctor for professional tips so that you can lose as much weight as possible IN A SAFE AND HEALTHY WAY!

What I generally do to lose some weight:
-Eat 5, smaller meals throughout the day instead of 3 big meals.
-Stop drinking any sugar drinks (pop, lemonade, etc.).
-Drink lots of water (it helps suppress your appetite and increases your metabolism).
-Exercise! I’m not saying you need to go get a personal trainer, BowFlex, or LifeTime fitness membership. When you get bored/hungry, go talk a walk/run. Walking is great because it gives you time to think, increases your metabolism, and you don’t have to change your clothes/shower when you do it.

Those are all easy ways to lose some weight. They don’t cut into your life style to terribly but will definitely help you to lose weight.

As for areas that have more fat than others, lifting is the only way to tighten up those areas. Bench press will help you to tighten your chest while crunches and sit ups will help you tighten your stomach.

Check out this website. It reviews all the best weight loss programs, and has helped me to turn my life around, and actually start losing weight.

does anyone know good teenage weight loss tips for hips and thighs?

I’m in high school and want to loose some weight on my hips and thighs. Any suggestions?

James asks…

What is a good way to lose 20 pounds in 18 weeks?

I was wondering if anybody had any tips/suggestions for weight loss. I am about 5’10” and way about 190 pounds, which is a little bit more than I would like. I want a workout that will help me lose not only weight but also excess body fat. Most importantly, I want to come up with a personal plan to diet and exercise to lose 20 pounds in 18 weeks. I know I am asking a lot, but I think it will be beneficial.

Thank you very much.

weight loss cardiff answers:

First, good job for choosing an obtainable weight goal. That’s a great weight for someone your height to be! Second, make sure that you are ready to commit to a new lifestyle, because once you accomplish your goal, you can’t just go back to the way you used to live, or you’ll gain it all back and your hard work will be washed down the drain.

I suggest starting slowly. Every day for about two weeks add a little bit more exercise. Start right now! Stop reading this for 2 minutes, and take a walk around your house. Go up/down the stairs a few times, do 5 jumping jacks, or something else that is simple. If you start small like this, slowly adding a little bit of exercise each day, you won’t burn yourself out and you’ll feel happier and more accomplished.

You can add more exercise to your daily routine by taking the stairs instead of elevator, walking, running or biking to anyplace that is close enough instead of driving, doing sit-ups, push-ups, squats, jumping jacks, etc. On commercial breaks, etc. When no one is around turn on some up-beat music and dance!

If you go here: http://health.discovery.com/national-body-challenge/national-body-challenge.html

you can sign up for free and they give you 8 weeks free at Bally Total Fitness.

Walking is the ultimate exercise, though. Walk as much as you can and you’ll be surprised at what it can do. I’m not overweight, but I have a lot of health problems, and when I started walking a lot of those problems disappeared and my jeans got looser too.

You could make it a game and get a pedometer. Get some friends involved and have competitions to see who can walk the most in one day.

Also, this one cost’s money and it takes two people, but we got an Air-hockey game for Christmas. OH MY GOSH! It is some serious exercise when you play for a couple of hours (we also play with double pucks). Our arms are STILL killing us!

Anyways, for diet:

If you eat a lot of junk-food or drink soda STOP! If it’s really hard for you, try taking just one soda a day out of your diet and replacing it with an ice water or replace one portion of chips (or other junk food) with some grapes, an orange, strawberries, or other fresh fruit, sliced red, orange or yellow peppers, cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, other veggies, low-fat yogurt or pudding, pretzels, graham crackers, or string cheese. When you think you can handle it, replace another glass of soda or another portion of junk food.

Oh! And ALWAYS eat breakfast so your metabolism is working at it’s best. You’ll lose more weight this way.

Watch your portion sizes. Even if you can’t stop eating badly, if you just eat LESS of it you’ll lose weight. Eat slowly so you know when you are full, and never eat while doing something else. I know I could down 3 full bags of popcorn easy if I’m watching TV (I’ve Done it! Yikes!), but I probably couldn’t even eat 1 if I was only eating.

I hope that helped you.

P.S. “Jer Bear” has it right. Kick boxing will definitely blast the weight off of you!
