Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Linda asks…

How to lose weight in 3 days?

I am a 16 year old girl and I need to lose weight! You are all probably thinking, why does she need to lose weight and why in 3 days? It’s because I have school starting on Monday so I need to lose about how much I possibly can, so people can see that I have changed.

Don’t put harsh or stupid answers please! Thanks for your answers! 🙂

weight loss cardiff answers:

Don’t take this as harsh, but you have an unrealistic goal.

Dietitians say that healthy weight loss is 2-5 lbs a week. So max, you wouldn’t lose more than that before school starts. If you want to lose weight, you’re going to have to devote more time to it. Sure, it won’t be right at the beginning of school, but people will still notice.

I suggest you look at what you’re eating. Make sure it’s healthy food, and the portions aren’t too large. Also try to add in regular exercise, that way you burn off some of the calories you do eat.

If you lose weight in a healthy way, it’s more likely that you’ll keep off the weight in the long term.

I hope that helped 🙂

Betty asks…

Could I lose weight eating 3 meals a day, consisting of one piece of fruit and a coffee?

Could I lose weight eating 3 meals a day, consisting of one piece of fruit and a coffee per meal? I wouldn’t be doing much exercise, maybe just lifting weights an hour a day. – Oh and how much weight might I lose per week? 🙂

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers! 🙂
x

weight loss cardiff answers:

Don’t do that. It is totally unhealthy and you will make yourself sick. The best way to lose weight is to exercise and eat well balanced meals, just eat less and leave out the junk food. Make it a life style change instead of just a diet. You will lose the weight more slowly, but it will be more likely to stay off because you will have changed the way you eat and exercise.

Ruth asks…

How can I lose weight in 3 days?

So Im going on holiday in 3 days, to Holguin in Cuba. I have quite alot of belly fat. Im not fat or anything I just wanna lose weight. I stopped eating chocolates and dance a little- but any advice? 😀 Thanks!

weight loss cardiff answers:

*Firstly, you should not skip your breakfast, whatever the case may be. Because it is the vital meal of your whole day and the rate of metabolism slows down if you don’t have it. In addition to this, you will be so hungry at your lunchtime that you will end up eating more food than required. So make sure you have a proper and healthy breakfast before leaving your house.
*Secondly, don’t engross yourself in other things like, reading books or watching TV while eating your food. If you don’t concentrate in your food, you will take more than necessary which is not good for your health as well as your weight. You must enjoy your food with your friends or your family but keep an eye on your food too.
*Thirdly, you should chew your food at least 35 times before eating, because the researchers have found out that you will consume fewer calories if you chew for longer time. Moreover, it helps you to digest your food faster as well as restrict the size of your portion and thus you can lose your weight.
*Fruits are just incomparable in losing your weight. They help to detoxify your body if you take them in empty stomach. Moreover, they will give you a huge amount of energy to exercise. It is believed that eating fruits about 30 minutes before any full meal helps in digesting the food quickly.
*Drink water as much as you can as it is very important for a healthy body and it creases the metabolic rate. But you must avoid drinking water in between your meals, since the liquid decreases the rate of digestion. It is advised to have water at least 15 minutes before or after your meal.
*Losing weight can be a difficult process for nearly everyone, so it’s not uncommon that people will ask: how can I lose weight and how can I lose it quickly? Some people are more blessed than others when it comes to their metabolism. A faster metabolism does make losing weight easier, but that’s not to say that someone with a slow metabolism can’t lose weight. In fact, someone with a slow metabolism can lose those extra pounds, and provided that they follow the tips that we suggest, they can lose those pounds quickly. So stop using your sluggish metabolism as an excuse, a barrier between you and your goals.
There are a few rules to follow to ensure that you will lose weight quickly. If you only choose to follow one of these rules, your success will be limited. On the other hand, if you follow all of these rules, you will lose weight rapidly, and just as importantly, you will keep the weight off.

Losing Weight Rule #1
Stay well hydrated. Hydration is one of the most important parts of losing weight and being healthier overall. Drinking lots of water ensures that your stomach is full, and it tricks your body into thinking that you are not hungry. It is important to hydrate primarily with water for a number of reasons. Water is natural and inexpensive, and it is calorie free

Losing Weight Rule #2
Exercise! Exercising is a fun and effective way of losing weight. If you are having trouble losing weight, or if you are losing weight, but not quickly, try adding in exercise. You will be sure to notice a difference if you add exercise to your healthy lifestyle. Not only does it help with weight loss, it also improves cardiovascular health greatly.Rule #1 comes into play here, too; staying hydrated is important if you are exercising because your workouts will suffer if you do not properly hydrate before, during, and after the workout. Staying hydrated allows you to perform at the highest level possible, ensuring that you burn the maximum amount of calories during your workout. Did you know that a 30-minute run can burn up to 500 calories?

Losing Weight Rule #3
Have a diet plan. You can do all the exercise in the world, but if you aren’t eating properly, and eating proper-sized portions, you won’t achieve any success. Weight loss ultimately comes down to calories in vs. Calories out; that is, the number of calories that you consume (take in) must be less than the number of calories that you burn (put out) in order for weight loss to occur. Keep a food diary so that you understand what you are eating. Buy a food scale that gives you an accurate estimate of portion sizes. Choose a diet plan that gives you a good mix of proteins and complex carbohydrates. Avoid empty calories.

So, with those rules and tips, you have everything you need to lose weight fast. Losing weight can be difficult, but it is far from impossible, especially with this knowledge. No matter what weight you have been all your life, you can lose weight, and you will lose weight provided that you follow these steps. So if you’ve made it this far, then congratulations; you’ve taken the first step towards losing weight fast.
Not everyone has a speedy metabolism. It’s like being born with perfect pitch or an ability to draw. But everyone can lose weight and keep it off. It just takes discipline and desire. Good luck.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

John asks…

What are some diet plans for morbidly obese people?

I have an emotional attachment to food. When I’m stressed, sad, scared, lonely, or whatever I will start eating a lot of junk food. I have piled on the weight over the years and I’m over 300 pounds now. I don’t know where to go or what to do. Are there guidelines or diet plans for morbidly obese people?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Its very hard to control food intake when having an emotional attachment to food; I know what you feel. But it’s good already that you realize that this is your problem. Perhaps more exercise will help controlling your weight; but in any case I think no exercise or diet will succeed unless you address the root cause; your emotional attachment to food. I have the same problem, and found that especially at home Im very prone to compulsive, emotional over-eating.

I found it helpful to be with people which distracts and suppresses the need to eat. Also any activities that require you to be out of your normal surrounding is great to help distract me from food. It does not resolve the problem, but to an extend I have managed to keep at least my weight reasonable stable. A support group like suggested before may help.

Chris asks…

What kind of diet plan should someone with hypoglycemia have?

I just found out I had it and I’m trying to gather as much info as I can. I’m trying to make out a few weeks worth of diet plans, what can and can’t I eat?

weight loss cardiff answers:

I would suggest that you read the Atkins New Diet Revolution.

Hypo and Hyper glycemia are linked to insulin production. Many times hypoglycemia is misdiagnosed. If you are overweight and suffer hypoglycemia … It is unlikely that the diagnosis is correct. What you have is an overactive pancreas – producing insulin at an out of control rate … This is the beginnings of diabetes … Yes, I know that diabetes is HYPER glycemia … But what happens is that after years of overproduction of insulin, your pancreas “burns out”

Read the book … It explains all of his trials and findings.

Linda asks…

Any good diet plans to get rid of fat in my stomach?

Hi I’m 13 and a female and was wondering if you had any good diet plans to help me lose weight in my stomach? I would like to lose about.5-10 pounds. Please help me.

weight loss cardiff answers:

There is no magic answer to weight loss, but there are simple things you can do. Eat a healthy diet of about 1500 calories a day – you do need to learn to count calories and there are tons of sites that will help you with that, as well as the labels on foods. Eliminate ALL junk food, sodas, pop, sweets, fried foods, fast foods, fruit juices, and processed foods. Eat fruit, veggies, a few nuts, lean meat and fish, whole grain breads and cereals, low fat dairy products. Go for a brisk 45 minute walk twice a day, everyday. Climb lots of stairs. Drink plenty of water.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Robert asks…

What are some good lunch and dinner recipies for losing weight?

I’m just starting to learn how to cook as I’m heading off to uni in a few months. What are some cheap and quick recipes that will help me lose weight?

I figured if I only learn to cook the healthy meals I won’t have the option of eating unhealthily =)

I’m trying to compile a list of meals I can choose from everyday

weight loss cardiff answers:

Barbecue Roasted Salmon (I serve this with rice and a vegetable)

1/4 cup pineapple juice
2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
4 – 6oz. Salmon fillets
2 Tbsp brown sugar
4 tsp chili powder
2 tsp grated lemon rind
3/4 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Cooking spray
Lemon wedges (optional)

Combine first 3 ingredients in a ziploc plastic bag, seal and marinate in refrigerator 1 hour, turning occasionally.

Preheat oven to 400°F. Remove fish from bag; discard marinade. Combine sugar, chili powder, lemon rind, cumin, salt and cinnamon in a bowl. Rub over fish. Place in an 11×7” baking dish coated with cooking spray. Bake at 400°F for 12 minutes or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork. Serve with lemon, if desired. Serves 4.

Chicken Zucchini Casserole

6 oz. (about 3 ½ cups) stuffing mix
¾ cup butter, melted
3 cups diced zucchini
2 cups cubed cooked chicken
1 can (10 ¾ oz.) condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1 medium carrot, shredded
½ cup chopped onion
½ cup fat free sour cream

In a large bowl, combine stuffing mix and butter. Set aside ½ cup for topping. Add the zucchini, chicken, soup, carrot, onion, and sour cream to the remaining stuffing mixture. Transfer to a greased 2-qt. Baking dish. Sprinkle with reserved stuffing mixture. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 40 – 45 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
Yield: 4 servings.

Super Chicken Salad Sandwich

1/4 cup plain fat-free yogurt
1/4 cup fat free mayo
1/4 tsp ginger
6 oz. Skinless chicken breast, cooked and cubed (I bake the chicken at 375 for 30 minutes in some lemon juice so it will stay tender)
1/2 cup red seedless grapes, halved
1/4 cup carrots, grated
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 tsp. Walnuts
2 large wheat pitas, split in half
lettuce

Combine yogurt, mayo, ginger and cooked chicken together in a large bowl until chicken is well-coated. Stir in grapes, carrots, onion and chopped walnuts. Cover and chill until ready to serve. Place some lettuce leaves in each pita half. Add about 1/2 cup of chicken salad mixture.

Other tips for eating healthy – eat lots of veggies and fruit. Cut out soda as much as possible. Drinking water and three cups of milk a day is best. If you’re going to eat sour cream, buy fat free. Also, buy fat free cheese. Nuts are a good source of protein and lean fats.

I would suggest exercising, too. The best way to lose weight is to eat healthy and exercise.

I lost 20 lbs. – I started follwing Weight Watchers tips in Sept. 2007 but I also try to exercise at least 3 days a week.

I do have a lot more recipes. E-mail me through Yahoo Answers if you want me to send more.

Lizzie asks…

Walking on incline enough to lose weight ?

I want to tone my thighs, legs and stomach. All I have is a treadmill, which I’ve decided to use. I’ve tried running, but it tends to hurt my knees and ankles and I get out of breath really easily. (I’m only 17, I have joint problems).

I want to get fitter and tone my body.

Is walking (Power walking) on a treadmill on a high incline (enough to make me sweat really well) good for this? For about 40 minutes a day, sometimes an hour?

Will this allow me to tone and lose weight?

I’m planning on doing some runs AFTER I get fitter and can handle the pressure of running.

weight loss cardiff answers:

No one should run for exercise alone as running is bad for the body.

Don’t run for fitness alone. Run marathons if that’s your thing but don’t run without a good reason because running is high impact and repetitive and that means risking problems if you run long distances for a long time. Running contributes to or causes shin splints, repetitive motion stress fractures, ACL strains or separations, early onset osteoarthritis, and much more. And, then there’s this……..

In this book –> http://www.bodybyscience.net/home.html/?… the coauthors make the following assertion.

“The scientific literature is filled with data that strongly make the case that long distance runners are much more likely to develop cardio-vascular disease, atrial fibrillation, cancer, liver and gallbladder disorders, muscle damage, kidney dysfunction (renal abnormalities), acute microthrombosis in the vascular system, brain damage, spinal degeneration, and germ-cell cancers than are their less active counterparts.”

Each assertion is footnoted. They’re making the point that most people have “cardio” all wrong and don’t really understand how to train to be fit.

And the problems continue…

http://running.about.com/od/illnessesandrunning/ss/embarrassing.htm

What you should do is walk on your treadmill on the level until you’re warmed up. Then increase the incline slowly until your hear rate reaches about 80% of max. That’s equal to ((220-your age)x0.8). Keep up that pace until your finished. A mile is probably good to start. You can increase the distance and the incline as permitted by your gains in endurance.

Brisk walking is recommended by the American Heart Association and it’s a valuable form of exercise. However, exercise is NOT the key to fat loss. Here’s why.

Any exercise will burn calories but no exercise will burn fat unless your diet allows it. You can burn fat in your sleep or you can run all day and never burn any fat. It all depends on your diet.

Fat loss is determined by calorie control, not by exercise. Good exercises for burning calories are speed walking, biking, swimming, dancing, etc. And ANY other physical activity which makes you move a lot of weight for a long time. But NO exercise is good for burning fat if you eat too many calories because you can always eat more calories than you can burn.

Too many people waste energy and time because they do not understand this one simple point. The result is too often giving up in frustration, abandoning gym memberships they continue to pay for, and many other unnecessary problems not the least of which is a lack of success.

An average person must walk about five miles every day for a week to burn the calories equivalent to a pound of body fat. So, unless you think walking about five miles a day (or doing an equivalent amount of exercise) with no guarantee of fat loss makes sense, focus your fat loss program on diet.

Diet for fat loss. Exercise for fitness.

What do i do to lose weight and make me physically and mentally healthy?!?

weight loss cardiff answers:

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you’re consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm

Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here is an excellent website that will calculate a suggested body weight based on several different formulas: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is “Muscle and Fitness”. Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/

A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com

Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. Send me an email or yahoo instant message to “gainbetterhealth” if you want an indoor air purifier recommendation and if you have any questions.

What is the number one weight loss supplement out there to help me loose my gut?

i do p90x ( a streneous workout program) i drink 100% Whey Protein Fuel b4 and after workout. But my main goal is to get a 6pack which i cannot get due to the fat on my stomach. What is the number one weight loss supplement out there so i can loose my gut and see the results of my workout?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Bro, I would try something like a green tea about 3 times per day. Don’t go with any of the scam pills in the bottle. If they worked people would be skinny and stop buying them and the pill companies would be out of biz. But people just keep getting bigger.

Usually losing weight is simple numbers. You need to know your basic metabolic rate (BMR). Once you know your BMR then you can design a diet lower in calories than your BMR.

But…. It is not always that simple. You could also have metabolic anomalies or even hormone irregularities that can make losing weight virtually impossible.

Start with the simple stuff. Calculate your BMR right here http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ then alter your diet if necessary.

Now, if you don’t see results after that you may look into the hormonal or metabolic areas. Also make sure you are being realistic, and that you do have weight to use. Don’t forget… Celebrities use tons of drugs and have personal trainers! We should all be so lucky 8)

I have been doing the crossfit workouts and they have shredded my body big time (removed my body fat). They are pretty tough, but the results are quick!

Give them a try and see what you think. I usually do the WOD’s

Also to tone muscle, make sure you are getting plenty of protein to aid in recovery and building of new muscle tissue

What is the best way to loose weight in the slower metabolism crowd?

I am 27 and have 2 kids. I feel so fat! I was 145 pounds before my daughter was born, then, well now I am 219!! I am very unhappy with myself, though I just can’t seem to have or even get the will power that is needed to get this weight loss thing to work! I have tried so many things!! PILLS are my weakness. As soon as they come on the market, I am the first in line for them! Please help me! I am open and willing for any ideas that have been tried, wheather they have helped or not! I am willing to do whatever it takes. I need the help with the motivation more than anything! I just need HELP!!!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

Helen asks…

What is a healthy diet for a swimmer trying to lose weight?

I have looked at many weight loss diets and many restrict carbs, but I look at information about a swimmer’s ideal diet and the main food is carbs.
How do you go about losing fat if you swim for 1hr/day for 4-5 days/week.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Regardless of your fat, protein, carb ratio, as long as calories in (eating) is less than calories out (burned off thru exercise and metabolism) you will drop weight.

The first thing you need to know is how many calories you need to “maintain” your weight (calculators will ask how much you currently weigh, height & work-out schedule). From there you can create a diet that is around 500 calories less than what you need to maintain (a 500 calorie deficit every day for 7 days will result in a loss of a pound..ie it takes 3,500 calories.). If you need “carbs” than you can focus on complex carbs (whole grains) to provide energy through-out the day.

Edit: There is a reason that health experts suggest only 1 – 2 pounds of loss a week. 500 – 1,000 calorie deficit is tough enough for most people…dropping it below that just isn’t practical / healthy. This is especially true for people that are already healthy or close to healthy weights (and is what makes them anorexic).

Heavy people can drop off 500 – 1,000 calories a day easy but that is usually because they can eat 3,000 – 3,500 calories to “maintain” there current heavy weight. So what if they cut back to eating 2,000 calories a day that is still a good amount of food.
