Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Lisa asks…

How long does it take to lose weight when running?

Im going to start running tomorrow. How long does it take to lose weight when im running? Im going to eat small meals & drink lots of water. Im also going to run for an hour each day. (if i have time). So, how long does it take to lose weight while running?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Hi.Coming from me personally I have been running since 2005. I have lost a good 45 pounds now, but still have 5 more to go until I reach my goal. I did hit a certain weight that I had trouble loosing.I weighted a certain weight and couldn’t loose more. What I did to loose more weight was I did other exercises. I took a 2 PE classes at my college back to back. It was a body conditioning class that has cardio kick boxing, aerobics, toning..etc.

Keep running though. If you hit that peak where you can’t seem to loose more weight, consider doing another type of exercising activity.

David asks…

In order to lose weight while running, is it best to sprint then walk and repeat?

For example, i have heard that while running on the track, if you want to lose weight it is best to sprint the straightaways and walk the curves? Is this true? Any additional tips?

weight loss cardiff answers:

The best for cardio is jogging. The best for losing weight is walking and the reason for this is you burn calories based on the distance you go not how fast you go. And if you are sprinting chances are you will get tired faster and leave. Walking you can go all day.

Steven asks…

What is the correct way to lose weight by running? 2-3 times a week is good?

I’m trying to lose weight by running 2-3 times a week, but everytime I can only run like 1.5 miles (about half hour), should I go for 3 miles or so? ALSO, What is the best RUNNING plan? (how many times a week and how many miles every time?) THANKS!

weight loss cardiff answers:

First of all, throw out every thing you know, and don’t listen to the sale person pushing Hoodia.

Keep running, but slow down a little. Go for time not distance and you will notice that after a few weeks that you are traveling a lot further.

Keep in mind that running sucks but there is a reason that you are doing it and you need to focus on that reason.
Mine is Triathlons! I have never done one, but I have a goal of doing a few this new season.

I like to run outside along a road where people can see me. No one likes to see a failure and you might feel like on if your just walking. Select you point for a turn around and get there and back no matter how long it takes you. Your gonna run or look like a failure. (What works for one may not for another).

Good luck and keep in mind that you can do it! Watch and you’ll be pusing that 8 mile run!

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Donna asks…

Exercise questions, loss of weight 158-125?

Alrighty! I am eighteen years old in April, though that might not have anything to do with anything, I’ve been told it has a lot to do with growth and nonsense so I will post it anyway! 🙂

I lost a BUNCH of weight(baby fat) apparently at around age thirteen to fourteen, I was WAY over weight and I was almost 160 pounds, and I’m very proud of myself for cutting out junk food, processed food, and certain foods etc. I did it all on my own, and I was happy. I went from 160 pounds to 135 pounds in a year, and by the next year I was 116 pounds. I wasn’t too skinny for my body shape, yet I wasn’t heavy at all. I’ve gained about I’d say ten to fifteen pounds since then, but I’m still fairly small considering I am five six. I want to lose the ten pounds I’ve gained but, even if I do I have excess (skin) I guess? That I need to tone up. I’m starting zumba classes next month and I’ve been told it is a lot of dancing/cardio etc. If I’m wrong please correct me is this a good program, whether it is or isn’t I’m getting it for free so I’m going to do it anyway haha! But, I was wondering what exercises I should do to FIRST tone up my stomach(the top where abs I guess should be? is just like skin) And, after that my legs, and butt. So I was wondering though I know you cannot tell me for certain the amount of time, but from December to April should I be toned? And even before then how long after if I do this daily will I start to see results! I WOULD like to add that I once did sit ups for five days and could already feel the muscles in my stomach tightening, and I lose weight easily, and am almost certain it could be the same with exercise

Also, if you would like to add dietary preferences that would be helpful I don’t know what exactly would help speed this process(:

Thanks!

Sharon asks…

HELP ME lose weight?

I’m 5’3 and almost 125 (highest I’ve EVER been). Luckily I’m very muscular, eat fairly healthy, and stay active.

However, I am bigger than ever and would like to slim down to 110-115. I just am ALWAYS hungry and maybe I’m stressed. Plus, when I do watch my weight and exercise I don’t even lose weight!

Ugh, any tips? Motivation? Secrets?!! Like the most effective way. You have to realize I’m VERY busy, easily stressed, and have little free time. It’s hard for me to plan/cook hard meals or exercise ALOT. I already do 2-3 times a week at school for about 90 min (light activity/dance). I try to run when I can.

THANKS!! The faster results would be nice.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Running is the most effective exercise when it comes to losing weight. Every spare minute you can run, do it. When you get hungry b/c of stress don’t eat a lot and make it something really healthy, eating is good when the food is healthy. Plus, you might be just gaining weight b/c ur going through puberty. Ur hips widen and ur mucles and stuff grow so they have more mass. So don’t freak if you don’t lose to much weight too fast. So far it sounds like ur doing a great job. Another thing that helps me out is yogurt. Whenever I want to have a snack b/c I’m stressed or just hungry I eat yougurt. It makes me feel kinda full pretty fast for a little thing of yogurt, and it is good for you. Good luck, and the best of health!!!

Steven asks…

My friend really wants to lose weight but still eats very badly?

She weighs 168 pounds and looks really chunky. She is always complaining about how she hates being fat and that she wants to lose weight really fast. I told her what she has to do to lose weight, I even offered going walking with her on my free time. But she gives up to easily. One day we went walking because she wanted to walk for 2 hours but after 10 min of walking she gave up and said she wanted to go home. And the past few days shes been eating chinese food, candy, mcdonalds, cake, and soda. She annoys me so much! I feel bad when she says she’s fat because ive been in her situation before but shes not willing to do anything about it! I asked her why she went out to eat chinese food and she replies ” sorry but I had to, it was really yummy”. Her family is not supportive at all! Her whole family always offers her the worst things to eat. for example when she ate a big chocolate chip muffin which had 900 calories. And they all are over weight.
The question is how can I make her understand that just by wishing she loses weight she wont get anywhere? What can I do to help her out?

weight loss cardiff answers:

The thing is, working out is great but eating better foods makes you lose weight more than exercise alone. It’s actually more important than exercise because…*dun dun dunnn* you ARE what you eat. If she eats that crap than yes, she won’t lose any weight and will feel tired all of the time.

What some exercise to loss weight faster?

Hello

I need to lose weight what are some easy exercise to lose weight

I’M NOT IN A GYM, JUST in Home

Thanks

I weight 80 KG
18 yo

weight loss cardiff answers:

As already noted, exercise will not help you lose weight. Exercise is good though as it will help you become / stay / keep healthy.

A ‘timely’ article from TIME magazine explains why you won’t lose weight exercising:

http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1914857,00.html

In short, EXERCISE + DIET = fit (exercise) and trim (diet)

Daniel asks…

How to loss weight fast and easy?

ok since i was a little girl i have been troubled with being over weight and i have lost a lot of weight since then but i cant loss any more i want to have a flat stomach but i cant get a flat stomach and im determined to have one but i want a easy way to loss weight because my schedule is packed with stuff. see i eat healthy i don’t eat a lot i exercise

weight loss cardiff answers:

You need to find an exercise and eating (notice I didn’t say DIET) plan that works for you;

You also need to find a strenuous physical activity that you actually enjoy, it might just be walking.

Pretty soon your friends will be asking you for advice!

Good luck, you can do this!!

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Jenny asks…

Weight for a 16 year old- be honest?

So about 2 weeks ago, I gained some weight and hit 140 pounds. My weight fluctuates a lot, but this was the first time I hit 140. Anyways, after I saw that, I watched what I was eating (no chocolate, chips, i don’t drink soda or eat greasy foods) and went back to my regular exercise routine for a while and I dropped back down to 133 pounds.
I didn’t starve myself or anything lol don’t worry. I always ate (still do haha) breakfast, and ate 2 sandwiches during the day (about 2-3 hour interval between the two sandwiches), and I generally don’t eat too much for dinner, maybe a shake with veggies, lowfat yogurt, and 2% fat milk.

This probably sounds somewhat methodical to some of you who are reading this, but because I tend to gain weight easily and lose it somewhat easily as well, I do my best to watch what I eat. Oh and I don’t really mix well with oily foods (hamburgers, pizza, fries) b/c I get nauseous when I eat them, so that helps with watching my weight.

Now onto the somewhat more serious part:
Currently, I am at 133 pounds and 5’3 and a half inches tall.
I have a somewhat muscular build (i can’t really describe it, but I’m able to do 80 crunches, 30 pushups, nearly 10 pullups. so try to imagine the build i guess?)
I do believe some of my muscle results in a slightly heavier weight. But recently, my parents have both been telling me that I need to lose weight. Even after I’ve explained to them that based on my bmi, I’m at an okay range, they still look at me as if I’m nearing obesity. It really hurts that I can’t bring up this type of conversation with them without hearing “Go lose weight, stop eating so much, etc.”
Even at a younger age, I was somewhat heavy, and ‘bigger’ than some of the other kids at school. I was never chubby, just more of a muscular build.

In middle school, I tried a few times to completely cut down on what I ate and would limit myself to very little food. I saw weight loss in terms of pounds. My parents, however, told me that I wasn’t eating enough now, and that I needed to eat properly. Hearing these sort of mixed signals would completely throw me off, and so I stopped going to them for advice on a bunch of different things.

My parents aren’t bad people, it’s just that I feel like when it comes to my weight, they see me as being fat and heavy and not at all healthy. I feel like they compare me to all the other skinny asian girls who are stick thin. Am I supposed to really reach that point to be considered “healthy”?

For those of you who read this entire story/question, thank you so much for taking the time. I just want your honest thoughts and opinions regarding this situation. Do you think I should lose weight? And do you think that I really am at an unhealthy point in my life?

weight loss cardiff answers:

You actually sound very healthy. I’m 15, 5’8 and 131 pounds, I get called lanky, but your figure sounds great! And if you can do that amount of muscle exercises you must be in good shape!

I think you need to go through your health with a nurse or your GP. Maybe to talk about if your diet is sensible etc. I think your diet sounds great, and very healthy, but you should discuss your weight with your GP or school nurse because they can tell you if you’re healthy.

If you don’t want to, all I can suggest is take my word. I think you sound totally healthy and in great shape! I wouldn’t worry what your parents say, when I was at my biggest they used to tell me I was big, but now I’ve lost 2 stone, they tell me I’m too thin! They can never make up their minds and they constantly worry, its just what parents are like I guess, but you shouldn’t listen to everything they say otherwise you will never get anywhere in life.

weight loss cardiff answers:

After breakfast, make water your primary drink. At breakfast, go ahead and drink orange juice. But throughout the rest of the day, focus on water instead of juice or soda. The average American consumes an extra 245 calories a day from soft drinks. That’s nearly 90,000 calories a year — or 25 pounds! And research shows that despite the calories, sugary drinks don’t trigger a sense of fullness the way that food does.

Charles asks…

how can you lose weight without getting too skinny for football?

well i am 14 years old. i played in my football team last year. next year i am going into highschool. i weigh too much. the thing is i get in my excersizes but i eat too much. this got me as big as i am. its not good. but it is good for football. because of all the excersizes i do and how much i weigh it seems that my legs have really “learned” how to put up with it. because of this the muscle on my leg is pretty damn big. i feel as if that if i lose weight i could really run a lot faster. right now i run a 8.1 on the 50 meter dash. i know its not great but most of the fat kids put up a 9 or a 10. the last time a ran it i put up a 7.9 but it really wasnt official since my friend clocked it. well basically how do i lose weight without making it so people could easily take me down. because i think that i am strong because of my fat.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Continue to work out and eat less. The foods and amounts you eat is what will keep you heavier than you want to be.
