Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Linda asks…

How many weight watchers pro points can my husband have per day?

I have started going to weight watchers and know what my pro points daily allowance is and my husband would like to know his. He is following the same menu as me but would like to know how many points he can have.
He is 31 years old, six foot one and weights 19 stone. Thanks

weight loss cardiff answers:

I don’t know about weight watchers points.

I know that your husband is tall so he should need 2,443 calories just to cover his BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate, male, 31 years old, 6’1 and 266lbs) before needing calories for any calorie expenditure (physical activity).

Your husband should eat 2 or 3 times as much as you eat. If he’s “following the same menu” as you, he should get a second helping, or at least get an appetizer before a meal, a cheese and dessert after and some alcohol in between.

Once I had a 6 feet tall 22 years old student staying at my house, built like an American football player (at least 250lbs, I would guess) and needed to eat 8 times more than I did so I would cook all my recipes for 15 people, 15 servings…one for me, two for my husband and my kids who had to eat twice as much as me, and 8 for that guy.

Men should eat whatever they want and just pay attention that some of it is healthy food. It’s too easy to just eat high calorie junk food to reach your 2,500 BMR, even if you’re a couch potato.

When you’re a man, it’s very hard to eat healthy (some of them don’t even know how to cook!) so you don’t clog your arteries, as you need tons of calories.

Ultimately, when you get in shape, you can eat whatever you want as your body becomes a mean fat burning machine.

Losing weight is not about eating less but about gaining muscle mass that will rev up your metabolism. Men have male hormones and an amazing ability to build up muscle mass (like 5 pounds a month, using weight machines).

Muscle mass is the weight loss miracle. Not only does it make you look better, thinner and toner but also makes you stronger so your aerobics get easier and more efficient and you burn more calories while exercising. Also carrying grocery bags/going up the stairs or anything else is so much easier when you have some muscles in your arms/legs.

Once you get more muscle mass, your metabolism goes up on a 24/7 basis. Each pound of added muscle mass needs 35/50 calories a day to maintain (not even counting the calories for the exercise). Think about this for a minute…it’s 12 to 18 thousand calories a year…it’s 3 to 5 pounds of fat reserves a year that you would either lose or at least not gain (if you eat it). And that is just for one pound of extra added muscle mass.
Also on those days when you’re resting and feeling a little soreness because your muscles are repairing stronger, you can rest assure that you’re burning a lot of calories even if you’re not moving.

What are some easy and filling foods for someone on a Vegan Diet to eat?

I just joined my wife with her Vegan lifestyle, and have lost 17 lbs in less than a month, I would like to keep this weight loss up and stay on the diet/fast possibly turning my eating habits around for good. Anyone have any good advice, recipes, snacks, etc. for a curious Vegan

weight loss cardiff answers:

Think fiber and protein. Tofu is excellent and one of the most versatile foods I have ever discovered and a breakfast of scrambled tofu with bell peppers, jalapenos, onion, and a sprinkling of nutritional yeast will keep me going all day.

I’ll also make fried rice with tofu, turmeric, falafel seasoning, sage, or whatever I feel like throwing in the skillet with some rice (even cinnamon and sugar sometimes) because it makes a quick and filling meal at work.

Legumes are probably one of the best examples. Protein and fiber all in one. You can mix up some (drained) cans of kidney beans, black beans, and chickpeas (garbanzo beans) with some pasta and a vegan Italian dressing for a great meal, and even throw some veggies in it. Plus it’s versatile enough to be served as a warm meal (say, with some broccoli thrown in) or as a pasta salad (maybe with a little corn and, still, broccoli).

Nuts and fruit are great, also, as well as oatmeal. I like the organic Irish style oatmeal because it’s thicker. You can eat it plain or with berries or, better yet, some peanut butter and honey.

Acorn squash is also very filling, and there’s some excellent recipes out there for it at vegweb.com and other places as well.

So, basically, get protein and fiber in one sitting and you’ll be full and energized.

Does anyone know any healthy easy to make recipes?

Im just trying to lose weight for a cruise in november. I know thats a long ways away but its probably going to take that long. Any ideas?
I dont really like fish

weight loss cardiff answers:

If you want to loose weight, just eat healthy…One rule of thumb for quick and healthy weight loss is eat or drink nothing white… If you can stick to that for a couple weeks, you will be in perfect shape for that cruise…..For example bread, dont eat white bread, eat whole grains…remember moderation as well, you can eat anything just dont eat tons of it….Butter is made from milk….so you cant eat….just try it…and have a great time on your cruise..

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Lisa asks…

Will I lose weight quicker if I eat less weight watchers points?

I have joined Weightwatchers yesterday – first meeting is not until next week. I have been calculated that I have a daily allowance of 30 WW points. If I stick to say 24 a day, will I lose weight quicker?

weight loss cardiff answers:

The best way to lose is to fast (not eating anything). That is why Gandhi was so skinny.

Joseph asks…

How much water should i drink to lose weight?

I heard water makes you lose weight and I’m trying to lose weight quick. As i am 5’8 150 lbs. How much water should i drink a day to help me lose weight? Thanks.

weight loss cardiff answers:

It won’t actually make you lose weight, but getting 8-12 cups of water a day will help your body and your digestive system run more smoothly, it will help flush any junk out of your body and detoxify, and if you are burning fat it will help flush the waste products from that out of your system.

So yeah. 8-12 cups a day, or roughly 2-3 litres.

Sharon asks…

How can I lose weight in 6 weeks, while going to school?

My Friend wants to lose weight quick she doesn’t have an account so she has asked me to ask the question. Also she goes to school so she needs food for a pack up. Please give her a plan.

weight loss cardiff answers:

You say ‘your’ friend but use ‘I’ in the title…

Anyway,
Eat a pretty big breakfast (WHAT EATING MORE!?, BUT THAT’S GOING TO GAIN WEIGHT). Wrong, eating a pretty big breakfast will stop you getting hungry and eating more throughout the day.

Keep away from junk food and eat things that are natural, Veg, Fruit, Nuts ect. Drink plenty of water.

Eat every 2.30-3 hours, don’t starve the body, it will cause the brain to panic by going into starvation mode and will store fat for when its needed.

Exercise, only 30 minutes a day running will help, this isn’t a lot if you think about it.

The world we live in tells us its hard to lose weight, so you will by some diet pills, slimfast ect. It’s Easy, just get up and moving.

Lunch ideas, Tuna, Chicken breast (not KFC) spinach, cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, (WOW, look at that everything on the planet that doesn’t have to be processed. Noticing a pattern) the earth gave us everything we need to live a long and healthy life.

Think – 1 burger from a fast food joint – 500 calories, before you have one, think about how much running you would have to do until you burnt that off, but then again, treat yourself every 3 weeks – 1 month to something you like.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Jenny asks…

What weight loss pill can I get at a regular drug store, that will actually work?

PLEASE don’t answer this telling me not to use weight loss pills.
I want a weight loss pill that I can conveniently get at any drug store that is safe, and actually works…
Has anyone had any experience with them, and know some that work?
Thanks in advance!

weight loss cardiff answers:

There is no ‘magic’ pill. Eat less, move more is the only real way to lose weight.

Mandy asks…

What weight loss pill would you recommend?

I am a fairly active mother of two, and I am having issues losing weight. I work out every day for about an hour, and I work as a waitress, so I’m on my feet for 6-8 hours a day. I have really hit a wall on weight loss and I would like to try something to get the weight off fast. I eat healthy and in small portions, and I drink lots of water. I am healthy, except for the weight. What weight loss pill would you recommend?

weight loss cardiff answers:

None. Weight Loss pills are not FDA approved, and in many cases found to be ineffective.

Eat Healthy, Eat right (missing meals starts fat build up), and drink a lot of water – like you are doing.

Working out wise. Do more. If you do the same routine everyday your body will get used to it and you will not lose weight. Try doing cardio one day, aerobics another. Don’t slow down, do meaningful physical training.

@Emily. That’s a daily muti-vitamin, not a weight loss pill. I take a multi-vitamin everyday, there’s no harm to it.

Joseph asks…

How to keep the weight off after weight watchers weight loss?

I have been using the Weight Watchers Points Plus Program.
I have lost nearly 50lbs.
I have the weight LOSS system down.
I need suggestions on how to maintain the weight and keep myself from gaining weight back.

I have just started going to the gym.
I will be starting up my Bikram Yoga again soon as well.

Anything further would be appreciated.

weight loss cardiff answers:

You need to go on a maintenance diet for the rest of your life.

You need to stick to your Weight Watchers points quota per day and allow yourself only a few extra points a day and keep checking your weight once or twice a day. If you start gaining weight you need to reduce your points quota and if you start losing weight you could allow yourself a few extra points.
