How to lose weight as a 14 year old boy?

I am 14 years old, about 5′ 7″, and I weigh about 98 lbs. I would like to get down to about 90. I run 4-5 miles on weekdays, and this has helped a little but not enough. Any other suggestions? Also, which would be more effective to weight loss: running or biking? Thanks!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
Eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast – they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner – repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
Ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Sharon asks…

How many weight watchers points would I get to eat?

Im already on LA weight loss and have done GREAT so Im not looking for a free way to do weight watchers. Im just curious about how many points I’d get if I were on weight watchers.

Im 5 6” and weight 134.4 naked first thing in the am. lol.

How do they decided?

weight loss cardiff answers:

I have the book in my hand right now…You have to add the numbers in order to get your points. Ready?

Are you:
A Nursing Mom*?—–12pts

How Old Are You?
Over 58——-0pts

What do you weigh?
Enter the first two digits of your weight in pounds. For example, if you weigh 175, enter 17. If you weigh less than 100 pounds, enter the first digit of your weight in pounds. I.e. For 98, enter 9.

How tall are you?
Under 5’1″—-0pts
Over 5’10”—-2pts

Do you spend most of your day:
Sitting down?——————0pts
(e.g. As a receptionist, bus driver, cab driver)
Occasionally sitting, but mainly standing?—2pts
(e.g. Sales person, housewife, cook, teacher)
Walking most of the time?——-4pts
(e.g. Waiter, mailman)
Doing physically hard work most of the time?—6pts
(e.g. Nurse, gardener, construction worker)

The total is your daily points target.

*Nursing moms and young people under 17 should talk with a WW leader before beginning the program.

**If your total is less than 18, your daily points target is 18; if your total is more than 44, your daily points target is 44.

***Retake the quiz as your weight goes down, as you get older or if you change the way you spend you day.

Remember that you have 35 allowance points each week as well. You can save them to eat out once a week, or however you choose. You don’t even have to use them if you don’t want to. Keep in mind that they start over each week.

You also earn more points when you exercise. You have to have a points calculator to help determine how many points you’ve earned.

I was able to lose 25 pounds within two months. The weight melted right off. If I can do it, I know you can too. It works. Trust me! GOOD LUCK!

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Daniel asks…

Can this help me lose weight?

I just turned 14 im 5’2 and weigh 112 and i wanna lose 7 or 8lbs.this is an article issue i read and i want to know if u think this will work.: does any of the weight lose diets ever worked for anyone?
Is it easy to lose abdominal weight fast? It can be if you are motivated enough to stick to a routine and particularly, limit your dietary intake to only essential healthy foods. Being overweight is not a healthy thing, nor the healthy body can be overweight. The start to a healthy life is all about your metabolism, which makes a weight losing diet work like a miracle for weight loss. The higher the metabolism, the more calories and fat you burn. So the right weight losing diet starts with making your metabolism work for you.How do you make it work for you? You just keep your metabolism “working” all the time. And that “work” is food and drinks! Yes, you make your metabolism faster by eating and drinking! Be sure to spread your meals and drinks through all day in the regular intervals, let it be 2-3 hours before each meal, and you can and should drink water whenever you like.An ideal weight loss program would suggest the dieter do some from of exercise. If you want to lose weight, it helps to move around a bit. However, this does not mean that you need to spend hours on the treadmill. Just do simple aerobic exercises, or even just walking 30 minutes 3 days a week, will usually do the trick. Do not drink any beverage with your meals. Stop drinking a half hour before your meal and wait until you are finished with your meal. You don’t want the water to fill you up prior to eating for you will be tempted to snack later.

How much do u think i can lose in 2 to 3 weeks? is there anything else i can do to lose weight?

weight loss cardiff answers:

I found a great diet that made me lose 50 pounds in about 8 weeks.

I found a great website that discusses this topic.

Tips on losing weight?

I’m trying to loose weight. I have been for the past year or so and I just can’t get motivated. I’ve tried rules, tips, tricks, mantras, crash dieting, before/after pictures. . . any ideas? This is summer, and it’s going to be easier for me to have time to excercise. Plus, for some reason my family eats healthier in the summer. (Junk food during the year). IDK why. I want to do this but I just CAN’T. I want it very badly! Sometimes I get up the nerve and just . . . loose it. I can’t afford a gym/weight loss program/special foods. Help, please.

weight loss cardiff answers:

I am in the same boat! Dieting is soooo hard! The only way to be truly successful is strict discipline. Keep your portion sizes small, fill up on veggies and fruit, and limit the junk food. Going to the gym at least three times a week is very helpful. I heard the Special K diet worked so you might want to give that a try!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Beans are a great source. Chicken…fish..seafood.Turkey.
Lots of fiber is a great way to naturally and healthily clean out your system, Fiber comes from vegetables, (no fat), and beans…
Seriously, start eating! If you dont put the correct balance of vitamins, minerals, protein etc in your body, your bones will become frail and brittle, then you would have to stop being a gymnist and then wher e would you be, no gymnist and no health! So where would that leave you? Worse than you were before! Start eating healthy, I would recoomend a dietician…Talk to your parents or teacher and ask them if they could help you find one to assist you with your goals in a structured and healthy goal objective. Eat alot of little meals, because if you stop eating or just one meal a day…it slows down your metabolism. In Eating a lot of little meals a day, you can lose weight faster & easier It is proven if you eat alot of little meals, it increases your metabolism, thereby allowing you to burn calories easier. ! Pretty cool huh?
Please take care of yourself! You didnt mention your height and how much you weigh btw. Your doctor or teacher could tell you what range you should be in….
