Moderation is the word during pregnancy, don’t push yourself to the extreme. The chemical byproducts and raised body temperature of overexertion are bad for the fetus. Your pulse rate should not be above 140 beats per minute at any time during your walk. You may also use the “talk test” — you should be able to speak in complete sentences without having to huff and puff and gasp out only short phrases. A pulse more than 100 beats per minute five minutes after a workout means you have worked your body too hard. Drink water before, during, and after your walk to help regulate your core body temperature. The fetus cannot get rid of excessive heat, so avoid exercising in hot weather and keep your walking workout moderate. Consider mall walking as an alternative during hot weather.

How to gain weight for pregnancy a healthy way?

I have a friend that has lost 10 pounds while pregnant and she needs to be putting on the weight. The other problem is she is so sick and throwing up and that is probably why she is losing weight. So does any one have any suggestions on how to gain the weight and keep it down?
I just wanted to add that she is seeing her doctor about this and she is telling her to eat protein but she can’t keep it down and she is 3 months and one week pregnant and I just didn’t know if anyone had experienced this and had personal oppinions. Thank you!

I lost 30 lbs my first trimester and gained only 15 of it back. If fact after the baby was born I was about 30lbs less than when I started. I gave birth to a healthy 8lbs 2oz baby at 41weeks.

Her weight is not important. It is very important that what she does eat be as nutritious as possible. She should eat what appeals to her and does not aggrevate her nausea. For me that was fruit. I have never eaten so much fruit in my life. Ever 2 hours I would have a piece of fruit and depending on how I felt I would try something else after. It is important to eat frequently and to drink enough liquid. (If water doesn’t appeal try watered down juice. Or even watered down pop).

Protein is very important. Lentils, nuts, yogurt, cottage cheese and cheese are goo sources if she has a meat aversion. (I have a list of how much protein is in a lot of food, e-mail me if you want it). Dark green leafy veggies are important. Spinach or kale can be added to berry smoothies with limited difference to the flavor. Watercress is quite pleasant. There are also chewable mint flavoured alfalfa tablets. Green leafy veggies give you calcium, vitmain K (important for clotting), iron, and on and on. Protein is said to prevent pre-eclampsia. Aim to get 100 g of protein a day and 2 servings of green leafies. If the throwing up is bad or if she feels unhealthy (I felt healthy most days when I made an effort to eat) then she needs to be treated. She knows her body best. If she feels that she needs to be eating more or puking less there are medications that can help. Probably the safest is b-12 pills. Ginger has also been shown to be as effective as prescription medication, she should discuss dosage with someone who is knowledgable. Another safe option is Marijuana. Medical use of marijuana has been approved for use during pregnancy. It does not have as many potential or as serious side effects as most anti-nausea drugs. Some info:

Now depending on where you live and your doctor you may have legal access to marijuana. If you do have legal access to marijuana you should also be provided with a vaporizer which minimizes the risks from inhaling smoke (any smoke) and allows the THC to enter the blood much more quickly.

Another option is to make marijuana butter. (Fat is needed to bind the THC and other beneficial compounds). That way a) you can consume it anywhere and b) you do not have to inhale smoke into your lungs. There are numerous recipes for how to do this online. I hope the nausea passes soon. Although even when it does for many women the food aversions remain. Tell her the MOST important thing is that she listen to her body. Take time out from the day to really ask herself how she feels and ask the baby. If the doctor is stressing her out about her weight she can switch doctors or she can decline the weigh-in just like any other medical test. I told my provider she could weigh me if she wanted but that we were not going to discuss it. Instead we discussed what I was eating and I kept a food diary (on and off, not every day, though I did every day for the worst month). Midwives are generally better in this regard as they may receive nutritional training.

The body is smart enough to prevent you from losing weight by going on a low calorie diet over the long term. Your metabolism will slow and I guarantee you will not lose weight this way. There have been many high quality scientific studies that show this.

I’ve tried most diets that have been published. The only diet that worked for me is one that I can continue as a new lifestyle and one that does not involve heavy investment in a program or surgery. I’m like an old man. My legs are all worn out from running, lungs suck, and I have no energy or motivation to run very long after lifting. I’m wondering if i should get a herbal cleanse. It probably won’t give you energy, especially if a fast goes along with it. Eating less fast food can help in the energy factor, also. That stuff (while we all love it and it’s quick and easy- blah!) is loaded with calories and carbs- even the “healthier” options like the salads and such.

Try doing the cardio before you lift. That way you have the energy at the beginning, and then you can push yourself for the lifting part after.

Losing 70 pounds in 2 weeks?

Is it possible to do this if most of what you’re losing is water weight? I’ve heard of people on The Biggest Loser who’ve lost 35 pounds in a week because it was mostly excess water and simply not eating all the crap they were eating before. 35 pounds a week times 2 equals 70. I am 5’4, I am 184.4 pounds [Lost 2 pounds since yesterday], and my goal is to be 117 pounds.
I Binge on TONS of fast food about 3 times a week, then go back to eating normally, but the weight I gained from those pigouts never goes away. I think I could work it ALL off if I tried.
The reason I want to do it in 2 weeks is because every 2 weeks since last month I’ve started binging AND I was already overweight to top it off. I think I can do this because people who are extremely overweight have it easy with the first part of thier weight loss goals. Top it off with working hard and I know I could do it. [I lost 2 pounds since yesterday which normally never ever happens- and all I did was eat IN-n-Out Burger and pizza and soda and all that kind of shit!]
I’ll also be doing a colon cleanse at this time, and using those accupuncture weight loss earrings [My sis did it and lost 26 pounds in a month not even trying!] Since i am being forced to go to the gym and have nothing else all day to do anyway at this time, I think I can do it.
What do you think?

Anything is possible, but it would be a bad shock to your system, the reason the biggest loser people lose so much weight is because they have so much to burn vs how much they need . The smaller your weight is, the harder it is to lose pounds. It is possible to do that, very dangerous. But possible. And in all reality the only way your going to lose that much weight is a low calorie diet, and non stop cardio and physical activity. Seriously, for 2 weeks you need to be moving non stop. And if you have any existing conditions that may hinder you, i do not suggest doing that. Remember small meals throughout the day, not big ones. This will help speed up your metabolism which is what helps you process food the right way instead of storing everything as extra fat. And why 2 weeks? It would be much healthier for you to get on a good healthy diet plan and work out a lot. No need to binge, wake up and make a hearty bfast (eggs toast turkey bacon yogurt fruit) thats your biggest meal of the day, remember that, then a medium lunch( nothing greasy or fried or fast food, if it is made at home, its already tons of calories less(a salad from chilis is almost 2000 calories thats almost your whole days intake)) and a small dinner and maybe a very small dessert snack, i live by this saying (EAT BREAKFAST LIKE A KING, LUNCH LIKE A PAUPER,AND DINNER LIKE A BEGGAR) because unless you are working out before bed, all dinner is fuel until you go to bed.
