Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Carol asks…

How can I lose weight with PCOS?

Im 26 years old, I have been trying to lose weight for a few years since I started putting on the weight from PCOS. I weigh 135lbs & Im only 5 feet tall. I love to exercise & I eat healthy (as recommended by my doctor), however, I just can’t seem to lose the weight. I’ve tried kick boxing, aerobics, elepticals, walking, free weights, resistance bands, exercise dvd’s I stay active on the weekends by kayaking but nothing helps. I still weigh the same & I haven’t lost any inches. I don’t know exactly what to do & my doctor isnt sure whats going on either. She tried putting me on metformin to regulate my mentrual cycle & to help me lose weight but that didn’t work either. Its frustrating to me because I had always exercised on a regular basis & was very lean & toned until my PCOS started kicking in at age 22. I still exercised & ate healthy yet I was gaining weight.
Anyone with PCOS out there that has similar issues or that has found a way to over come this & has lost any weight?
I forgot to add…I do count calories & I do calculate all that burning & intake. I also do not eat many carbs (bigger than my fist) & No processed foods.

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you’re consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm

Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is “Muscle and Fitness”. Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/

A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com

Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. Send me an email or yahoo instant message to “gainbetterhealth” if you want an indoor air purifier recommendation and if you have any questions.

Steven asks…

I’m incredibly overweight, and would like to lose weight. How should I go about doing so?

Okay, here I go:

I have a high BMI, so it’s not a “thinking” I’m fat, it’s “Knowing” I’m fat. I know diet and excercise are the key components of losing weight, but I need a plan that fits with my schooling, work, and band. I’m just tired of being fat. Could someone give me some general guidelines or suggestions as to what I should do, please? I’ve already cut out drinking pop, and I’m hoping it helps.

I don’t care about fitting in a size 2 (which I know will never realistically happen, because I’m genetically big boned), I just want to be healthy. I want to die of suffocation from laughing, exhaustion from exploring the world, anything, anything but diabetes, heart disease, or, to stop myself before I get there, OBESITY. And I want my kids to have a healthy living style so they don’t have to worry about this when they’re 15.

Thank you all for your help.

<33 Rachel

weight loss cardiff answers:

Start small and start slow. If you try to do it all you will get discouraged! Yes, cutting out pop will help! When that becomes easy for you and your not tempted by it anymore, cut out sugar or cut out fast food, then stop eating after 7 p.m. Drink lots of water! Cut up a sandwich size bag of veggies (pepper, celery, carrots, cucumbers), take them with you throughout your day. You can easily get in your veggies each day by doing that. Carry apples or oranges or some fruit for when you have a sweet tooth. The cravings do go away, it just takes time and patience.

Exercise! If all you have time for is a 15 minute walk, then take it. If it’s in the morning or middle of the day or evening, just go out and walk as fast as you can handle and don’t back down unless your dying, then slow down until you get your breath, then speed up again.

Exercise and eating well are the best ways to lose weight and to do it the healthy way. The other thing to remember is that it takes your body time. It needs to know your serious! If you are not doing these things consistently, then your body will not lose weight. Give yourself 1 day a month to indulge in one thing sweet or one treat you’ve been holding out on.

Think of it as a new way of life…this is how your going to live, no going back:) Good Luck!

Lizzie asks…

How can I lose weight without exercising?

Am very lazy
Not fat but lazy but I have been gaining weight
I eat loads of fatty foods how can I cut down on them and lose weight without having to exercise?
btw…fast foods are like drugs to me I am VERY addicted to them.
I know I should excersise but I know I won’t.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Eat less. If you really CAN’T give up fast food then just eat less when you go there. Also, maybe don’t think about it as exercise, but try forcing yourself to move a little more. For example, park further away when you go to the store so you have to walk a little more. Maybe try taking the stairs if you’re only going up a couple flights. If you will do absolutely no exercise, then really the only thing you can do is eat less and better.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Jenny asks…

Did you lose weight easier while counting calories or while not?

Did you get obsessey when counting? Did you lose more when you did or didn’t? Which is more effective? Could you lose weight easily if you know how many calories is in what, but you just don’t count every single one?

weight loss cardiff answers:

I have found that a calorie diary can not only keep you honest but also show the amount of healthy and non-healthy foods you are consuming. You can just round and estimate but it doesn’t work as well as keeping a journal.

Robert asks…

What is the best way to lose inches around your waist in a one month’s time?

Paul asks…

Shouldn’t fat people at least walk a good distance everyday to lose weight?

I always find I lose weight easily walking or running. I used to do martial arts and I got fat doing it, no matter how much I trained. Now I’m back walking and running, and I’m in much better shape. I don’t diet or do any of that crap. I think all of those diet pills and aerobics are bull.

Why don’t people just walk?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Actually, yes everyone should walk at a minimum 30 minutes a day. Research has shown that raising your heart rate for at least 30 minutes a day with exercise is beneficial. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise there is.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Jenny asks…

How quickly can a dog lose weight?

If a dog didn’t eat for say 3 days could it lose 3 or 4 kgs easily?
I’m not planning on starving my dog by the way!!
I’m just curious about my dogs previous owners and if they weren’t looking after him properly or if he lost weight in the 3 days he was on the streets?

weight loss cardiff answers:

No they won’t lose weight from being starved, that would actually prolong it’s weight loss unless it’s extreme starvation. Which will lead to being emancipated. Which is extremely starved and dehydrated. It is pretty difficult for a dog to shed lbs. Thats why they get put on strict diets where they only get half of their daily required food. 1 dog lb = 5 human lbs.

Mark asks…

How many calories should i eat in a day to lose weight? 10 POINTS TO THE BEST ANSWER?

Losing weight how many calories should i eat in a day?

i currently weigh 182 pounds/ 13 stones

i go to the gym 3 times a week

how many calories should i eat in a day to lose weight?
21 hours ago – 3 days left to answer.
Additional Details
i forgot to add that im 5ft 11 and male

also i am 17

and i burn around 500 calories in the gym.

weight loss cardiff answers:

A man needs 2500 calories a day just to stay alive, so anything less than this and you will burn off body fat to make up the difference.

If you are burning 500 calories in the gym, and taking in LESS than 2500 calories daily then you will definitely lose weight. The faster you want to lose it, the less calories you need to take in.

For example, if you reduced your daily intake to 2000 calories a day, plus did your 3 workouts a week, burning 500 calories each time, then in a week you would have burnt off 4000 calories = 1.1lb.

If you reduced your calorie intake to 1800 daily and did 4 workouts in the gym, in a week you would have burnt off 6900 calories = 1.9lb.

If you reduced your intake to 1500 calories daily, and did 4 workouts of 600 calories a week, you would burn off 9400 calories = 2.7lb a week.

So, it is down to you, your self control over your diet and how much you train.

Robert asks…

I have lost 7 pounds in 3 days without the intention to. What could be wrong? Why am I losing weight so fast?

I have lost 7 pounds in 3 days and I continue to lose weight. I haven’t changed my diet. My daily routine is normal. Nothing different. So why am I losing all this weight? Could it be something serious?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Not to scare you but, im 13 i dont know much about science as i dont really listen in class,
but Nick Jonas’ announcement of diabetes( 🙁 ), he lost i think it was 15lbs in a week or something? Im not sure..
