Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

How to gain weight back after surgery?

I had my tonsils taken out two weeks ago and I lost some weight,I’m already skinny enough as it is.What can I eat that will help me gain the weight back quicker?
It’s still hard for me to eat solid foods because my throat hasn’t healed all the way yet.

weight loss cardiff answers:

It may be easier to eat six or more smaller, balanced meals rather than eating three large meals, especially if you’re not used to eating much at one time.

Protein powders and nutritional supplements such as Ensure can be added for in-between meal snacks. You can also make your own delicious protein shakes at home with a blender using milk, yogurt, frozen fruit, etc. Look for some easy recipes here: http://www.easy-weightloss-tips.com/weight-loss-shake-recipes.html
Exchange the skim milk and fat-free yogurt for regular since you don’t want to lose weight. Most protein powders are not very tasty unless mixed with other ingredients.

Exercise is an important part of healthy weight gain. Strength training is especially important and will build muscles. This can be done at home or in a gym. Cardio exercises are healthy and should be a part of your routine, but they burn maximum calories and may cause you to lose weight if you don’t eat consume plenty of calories. Limit your cardio workout to 30 minutes. Consider activities such as: power walking, jogging, biking, swimming laps, jumping rope, dancing, skating, etc. Yoga and Pilates are excellent additions to your workout as well. Here are some exercises you can do at home to help target certain areas:

6)Consume heart-healthy oils by eating olive, walnut, or canola oil in your homemade salad dressings. Add cheese and nuts to salads for additional healthy calories.

Sandra asks…

how can you lose weight without doing to much work because your too lazy to do it everyday?

im a person who takes care of her family all the time and they all wont eat healthier. i want to get rid of my gut so badly and i have for years and i just cant seem to do it. How am i supposed to do the weight loss and try and take care of the rest of my family every single day of the week? my dad isn’t the most active person so i do a lot of things for him to (and my mom is barely home)… and i mean A LOT and it never stops… how can i get rid of my disgusting stomach? i really want this…. plus i have already taken pop out of my diet and i am somewhat eating healthier unless there’s nothing else to eat or drink at the house. thanks for the help if y’all can give it.

weight loss cardiff answers:

The fact that you have cut off all soft drinks is a great start! From now on try to consume about 1-2 litres of water, daily. Once i cut off all soft drink, results showed within 2-3 weeks of being off it, and i dropped about 1-2kg.

Now, if you can ever have the chance to cook dinner for your family then do it! There are heaps of recipes out there that are healthy, but don’t taste healthy.. So your family wouldn’t know the difference.
I recently made a mexican beef chilli with rice, and kidney beans and it was high in protein, low in fat and had plenty of vegetables. I found that recipe online.
If that is not an option then try this.

-Go buy some healthy snacks and keep them in your room.

– for breakfast poach 2 eggs, and have a slice of toast.

– For lunch, have a salad and seared chicken, or a can of tuna

– then for dinner.. Eat what your family is having but just have a smaller portion.

Smaller portions will work! It also helps if you use a smaller plate to trick yourself into thinking you have a lot of food. Eventually after about a week, your stomach will shrink and you won’t become as hungry as you normally do.

Next step, after dinner you can not eat! If you really have to eat then buy some frozen berries from your super market, they are high in antioxidants, and they take away that sweet craving you have for chocolate etc.
You could also have a green tea before bed.

Now, i know the idea of exercise sounds awful.. And it took me so long to build up the enthusiasm to work out… But trust me, once you start you can really get into it, it builds your self esteem when you exercise, and makes you feel much better about yourself, so starting is the hardest step.

Just try small increments, like going for a walk outside for 10 minutes, without you even knowing that 10 minute walk could turn into a 30 minute walk. If you have dogs, take them with you.
Each day set yourself a small goal, tell yourself “today, i will do 20 push ups, 20 triceps dips and go for that 30 minute walk” When you do the push ups, you can break it up into smaller lots.
Eventually as you become fitter you will complete your walk in less time, and if you felt like it, you could start doing small bits of running to build up a sweat. The main idea is to increase duration and intensity when tasks become too easy, also you want to try to keep your heart rate up.
This may require to a fast walk, going up and down hills for intensity and telling yourself “this time, I’m going to finish this walk in 6 minutes ” or something like that.. And you do the same walk each day to try to beat your own time.

Just remember, when thinking about your diet, you’re allowed to each everything in moderation, and for now just cut down on your portion sizes and only eat when you are truly hungry.

Best of luck

George asks…

How effective is water fasting in losing weight?

I am around 5’3 and weigh 110 lbs. I would really like to lose weight fast- potentially ten pounds. I have heard water fasting is both good for losing weight, and is also beneficial to gastro-intestinal health.

Is water fasting as effective as it is said to be?

weight loss cardiff answers:

You need at least 1000 calories of energy per day to support your life so where would that come from? If you don’t eat food what is your body going to burn? Well, if you don’t know the incredibly obvious answer to that question, it’s you. Your body will burn you. It will literally consume itself and that’s a very fast way to lose weight. Of course there’s a problem with consuming yourself…it’s starvation and you’ll eventually die. And, before you die you’ll get terribly sick and before than you’ll have myriad negative health symptoms, etc. So, water fasting is fast but it’s also really, really bad for your health.

If you’re serious about water fasting, which isn’t good for anything including your GI tract, you should stop and reconsider. You have nothing to gain except speed of fat loss. Fat you will regain eventually because you haven’t really done anything except starve yourself. Here’s the best way to lose fat and it’s approved by the US National Institute of Health…the people doctors listen to in the US.

Eat varied, wholesome, and high quality foods such that your daily caloric intake is about equal to your daily caloric burn while keeping your macronutrient ratios at about 55/25/20 (%calories from carbs/fats/protein). Only slight changes should be made in the macronutrient ratios to accommodate the extreme demands of special activities such as athletics or inactivity due to illness.

Note: Here are the details in case you’re interested. —> http://health.gov/dietaryguidelines/2010.asp and here —> http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/nutrition.html

You get to make the food choices (no supplements without a doctor’s recommendation) based on culture, available foods, personal preferences, your resources, food alergies, etc. However, the words “varied”, “wholesome”, and “high quality” are important. And, you should consume your food in 4-6 daily meals with healthy snacks between such that you’re nourishing yourself every two hours when awake.

To burn body fat, simply decrease portion sizes of your food such that your daily intake is 500 calories less than your daily burn rate. That should result in a loss rate of one pound per week.

Tracking your calories is crucial to your fat loss and maintenance. Tracking your macronutrients is crucial to your health. And, of course, it is implied that you will learn how to read labels, weigh portions, do food lookups, enter data, interpret data, etc., if you don’t already know how. It’s all easy stuff and, if you persist, it will eventually become such a routine that you’ll be able to enter data from your cell, know what your daily nutritional requirements are real time by the hour, interpret labels and estimate recipes, plan cheats, and, best of all, not have to rely on the scale to tell you if you’re losing, gaining, or maintaining.

Good luck and good health!!

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Richard asks…

How am I supposed to lose weight when my family eats unhealthy?

There’s never really any fruits or vegetables in the house, only junk food, which I’m going to be tempted to eat.
I really want to lose weight, and my mom just doesn’t understand.
Can you give me healthy meals that I can stick to for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
I’m begging you for help.

weight loss cardiff answers:

As far as overall health goes diet and exercise are both important but as far as specifically weight loss goes, diet is actually up to 80% of the problem (or solution).
So exercise is very important, don’t get me wrong, and it’ll definitely speed up the process. But you are right that motivation is the biggest part of the battle, so your situation becomes rather sticky. But I’m a little confused. Does your mom refuse to buy anything healthy for you? Or simply refuse to join you in your dieting?
In either case, I suggest doing research and coming to your mom with concrete science about the dangers of being unhealthy AS WELL AS the benefits of being healthy and some tasty looking healthy recipes. If your mom has been refusing to buy you healthy food then that should definitely be enough to change her mind. If she has just been refusing to join you, it may or may not get her on board depending on how convincing you are with your research and recipes.
Since most healthier meals require cooking, you may develop a hobby out of it.

I’m no expert, but I know waay more than the average person about nutrition. So hopefully this helps:

What recent research has been showing is that there is a certain rule of thumb that natural or “whole” foods are almost always the better choice. For centuries humans have eaten what they can hunt, find on the ground, or grow, and then we sometimes hold it over fire. That’s how we’ve eaten forever and thats how our bodies evolved to eat, it’s what we’re meant for.
That being the case, there have been many cultures which eat only natural foods without any chemicals and they have very low obesity rates. Even Eskimo people ate pretty much nothing but seal meat, which is very high in fat, they were relatively healthy.
Why? Because our bodies are designed to eat natural foods, not fake preserved foods with unnatural chemicals like hydrogenated oils and processed sugars like corn syrup. Our bodies don’t have a problem adjusting to high fat diets as long as they are totally natural. Now, it may be easier to split the different between a high fat natural diet and a low fat fake one. So you ought to split the difference. Eat any whole food, but you can speed up the process by eating whole foods which are low in fat and high in vitamins. Avoid starchy types of foods like white potatoes (sweet potatoes are alright) and breads, but don’t completely eliminate them from your diet, and given the choice, always pick that over something unnatural. Even if it says “diet” on the front, the whole food is still better. Avoid high sugar foods but especially avoid corn syrup. I can’t stress that enough. Natural sugar makes you WAY less fat than processed corn syrup, and corn syrup also can give you cancer later in life.

AVOID SODA. Even diet soda, diet soda is a huge scam, it does virtually nothing better for your body than regular soda. Soda is basically like drinking candy. Dropping soda is a huge stepping stone. A 12 oz coke can has 40.5 grams of corn syrup. That’s almost as much as an entire package of skittles, which are pretty much made up entirely of sugar.
AVOID RED MEAT like Pork and Beef. They are not lean meats. Chicken, turkey, and fish are much healthier and are a great substitute for your sources of protein (especially fish, salmon is like a miracle food – low in fat and chock full of just about everything your body needs. Mahi mahi is pretty good for you and catfish isn’t the best, but it’s still better than beef or pork).

Also, most people think the vegetarian diet isn’t good because it lacks protein. I’m not saying go veggie but you should know that this is a myth. Very rarely do vegetarians lack protein because people need a lot less protein than most think. You do need it, but very few people in the U.S. Are anywhere near needing more. You will get the right amount. So don’t ever worry about trying to get more in your diet. It will just slow you down in weight loss.
Two more things:
Portion of food is a huge factor in weight loss. Sometimes overeating healthy food can be worse than eating the right amount of a food that is not quite as healthy. Overeating is definitely something to avoid. And I know you’re probably hating to hear that because you don’t want to eat a meal that doesn’t satisfy you and leaves you hungry but a good way to make sure that doesn’t happen is to eat more slowly. Your body takes a while to process the idea that it is no longer hungry, so if you eat more slowly, you will start to realize that you are full before you think you would be full, meaning you can eat less and still be satisfied.
Drinking lots of water actually helps speed up the weight loss process quite a bit.

Also, just to clarify, when I say natural foods, that doesn’t mean you can’t cook them. I count cooking as a natural process. I’m just saying that fruits, vegetables, and lean meats are much better for you than anything frozen or preserved that you find at the store.

How do I stop feeling sick all the time?

I’m always feeling nauseous, sick to my stomach, and out of breath. I’m over weight and I know thats a part of it. However my constant feelings of sickness and dizziness effect my workout, and I know what I’m eating is a part of that too. I’d like to loose weight naturally, (no fancy weight loss medications and supplements that could be dangerous) so any help that you can recommend is welcomed. Any work outs that get particularly good results and please RECIPES RECIPES RECIPES!!! I’d like to eat healthy food that also tastes good as well, I know it has to exist somewhere. Please give me a hand here I’ve been trying to loose weight for a long time to no success.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Taking in mild and easy to digest soups and juices are recommended to allow the stomach to go back to its normal functioning. A simple consommé of vegetable with leeks, onions, garlic and ginger is a great option to start with. Progress to heavier soups made with starchy vegetables like squash, sweet potatoes, beans and corn. Alternatively, a porridge made with rice is also a good choice

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Richard asks…

Is it safe to lose weight while pregnant?

I am about 8 weeks pregnant. I am also about 50 lbs. overweight. I don’t want to do anything to hurt my baby, but I was wondering if there was any safe, healthy way to lose some weight while pregnant. I have read that being so overweight while pregnant can be dangerous to both mom and baby.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Wait till after the baby comes and just try to maintain a healthy weight gain through your pregnancy which is 15 to 25 pounds. If you are losing weight during your pregnancy then your baby will not get enough nutrients and this will cause your baby to have low birth weight which could lead to other defects as well. So just hold off for now. I say this just so you can keep mommy and baby healthy.

Hope you find this helpful!!

=D

Lisa asks…

is it possible to lose weight while pregnant?

I know this seems like a stupid question but…

I’m over weight and about ten weeks pregnant. I plan on joining a gym after my baby is born but I want to exercise while pregnant since its good for you. So, is it possible to lose weight? I would mostly be focusing on my arms and legs since they are really chunky. (no, I am not like 300 pounds)

so, is it possible? if so, how?

weight loss cardiff answers:

It would be healthier if you didn’t try to lose weight while pregnant. Exercising and eating right would be fantastic for both you and the baby though. I would concentrate on not GAINING over 16 pounds while pregnant, which means you wouldn’t put ON any weight till you are about 5-6 months along. Congratulations!

Daniel asks…

Tone up but not lose weight while pregnant?

I know it’s not safe to diet or lose weight while pregnant. That’s not what I’m trying to do! I just want to tone up some areas if possible while I’m pregnant. I’m currently only 6 weeks, so I can still do crunches for the next few months. Any other suggestions or idea’s for -toning up- NOT losing weight.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Stair master, walking, jogging if u did that pre pregnancy? You don’t want to exercise to much harder then you did before you got pregnant
