Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Mark asks…

If i eat 3 small meals a day, will I lose weight?

So, for example if i ate…

Breakfast: cereal and milk, or porridge, or a yoghurt, or fruit, or a cereal bar
Lunch: 1/2 a sandwich, or a salad, or a wrap, or a smoothie
Tea: Salad, or omelette, or a low fat microwave meal, or soup, or low fat homemade meals e.g low fat shepards pie, low fat spaghetti bolognaise, low fat chicken stir fry etc

would all of this be healthy? and help me lose weight? i wouldn’t snack between meals, i would make sure i would only eat 3 things everyday

weight loss cardiff answers:

You would definitely lose weight if you ate just three small things a day. But through this, you are not getting enough nutrition nor is it healthy. Snacking in between meals is a must. The best snacks would be fruits and nuts, which are both well for your diet. Don’t limit yourself to 1/2 a sandwich for lunch if you’re still going to be hungry. Eat until you’re about 75-80% full (for each meal). Don’t just eat less, but eat healthy. You can eat a lot of healthy food and still lose weight. Such as salads with a light vinegarette instead of dressing. Don’t starve yourself to lose weight. Also, drink lots of water and exercise. You will lose weight gradually.
Best of luck,
Xo.

Donna asks…

Will exercising 3 times a day for 30 minutes help me lose weight?

Hi Everyone.
I want to lose 10-15 pounds by August 23. I know its a short period of time to lose 10-15 pounds of weight, but i was wondering if it is possible, if i workout 3 times a day, for 30 minutes. I’m a very healthy person. I don’t eat fast food, or snack on unhealthy food. I am a vegetarian (but I eat albacore tuna).

Also: When I workout in the morning, do I eat before i workout or after, I read that you shouldn’t eat before you workout, but I was wondering why?
Thank you so much, if anyone could full in detail explain to me, it would be great.

I mean i work out 3 times a day for 30 minutes, which equals to 90 minutes total of exercise 🙂

weight loss cardiff answers:

Do you mean 90 minutes a day or 3 10 minute exercises? If it’s 90 minutes then I’d say you’d lose about 5-10 pounds compared to 10-15 pounds that you want to lose.

What type of exercise? Jogging is recommended with a bit of weight lifting beforehand. TRUST ME, I try did straight out cardio for 90 minutes straight daily for like 2-3 weeks and didn’t lose a pound so light weight lifing DOES make a difference (since studies have shown that weight lifting raises the rate in calorie lost by roughly 20-30%)!!!

You eat before because in the morning, your metabolism is at your lowest since you haven’t eatin’ for 10+ hours. But make sure you eat your breakfast 90 minutes to 2 hours before exercising so that the food won’t slow you down.

Ken asks…

What is the best way to lose weight in 3 days?

Ive been eating really unhealthy for the past week and now i have 3 days to be looking myself and good again. oops. i know this is unrealistic but what would be the best way to try??

weight loss cardiff answers:

Here are six simple tips that will have you losing weight in a balanced and healthy way.

1. Lose weight with water.
Water is essential for everybody – it is also the key to losing weight. If you haven’t been drinking enough water, your body has developed a pattern of storing water. This water retention equals extra unwanted weight.

By drinking more water, you are not only flushing out toxins, you are also teaching your body that it no longer needs to store water. Drink at least 60 ounces of water (about 8 glasses) a day. Boil water and sliced lemons, and drink this throughout the day to help with fluid retention. If you are still not sold on the merits of water, try this on for size: water is a natural appetite suppressant.

2. Soup up your weight loss program.
A simple dietary change will have you shedding pounds: eat a bowl of soup at least once a day. Nutritious, low-salt soups will nourish you as they flush waste from your body. People who eat a serving of soup daily lose more weight than those who eat the same amount of calories but don’t eat soup. Go for homemade soup whenever possible, as canned soups are loaded with salt and chemicals.

3. Eat early to keep weight off.
The human body follows a circadian rhythm, which means that the same foods eaten at breakfast and lunch are processed differently than when eaten at dinner. Studies show that when you eat your daily protein and fat at breakfast you tend to lose weight and have more energy; however, eating the same things at dinner tend to increase tendencies toward weight gain. I suggest that you eat your last meal of the day by 7 p.m.

4. Eat smaller meals, more frequently.
Follow an eating schedule with five little meals every day. Eating steadily through the day keeps you from becoming famished and overeating at your next meal. Make a low-fat trail mix from raw almonds, pumpkin seeds, dried plum, and apples and have it available at all times to avoid the tempting lure of high-calorie snacks.

5. Adopt a balanced approach to your diet.
Most of the fad diet programs out there nowadays are extreme in a few recommended foods, or else deprive the body of food altogether. This works in opposition to our metabolism and the results usually don’t last, producing a yoyo effect that depresses your metabolic function – not to mention your self-esteem. We are natural beings that need a balance of nutrition from all sources.

Your diet should consist of a balance of organic sources of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, legumes, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. Instead of white rice and pasta, opt for brown rice, bulgur, millet, or buckwheat.

Eat more green, chlorophyll-rich foods such as broccoli, kale, spinach, and asparagus. Eliminate candy, sugar, soda, and all simple sugars from your diet. Excess sugar ends up being stored as fat in your body, which results in weight gain. Also, keep dairy to a minimum because most dairy products are high in saturated fat. Avoid fatty foods, processed or fried foods.

6. Walk off the weight.
The No. 1 cause of weight gain is inactivity. Physical activity is the key to speeding up your metabolism and burning excess calories. The best way to be physically active is to use your legs! Walk as often and as long as you can. Always take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Step outside during your break at work and take a walk around your building. Consider joining a local hiking club. Try taking a walk 30 minutes in the morning or 30 minutes in the early evening.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Michael asks…

How to lose weight and get longer hair ?

How can I lose weight without the exercise and eating healthy food ?
Also How do I get longer hair after a haircut ?

weight loss cardiff answers:

To help your hair grow you actually need to eat healthy, i’m doing the exact same thing. Also don’t put heat on it and take suppluments like primrose oil ( gives you healthy hair and skin) and vitiman c.

Loosing weight by not eating healthy won’t work either, I think alot of people would want that though 🙂

Lisa asks…

How do I lose weight without going hungry?

I’m 5’7″ weigh 260 lbs. How do I lose weight without becoming hungry? I cannot exercise that much because I have anxiety of going outside. What should my diet be?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Eat items high in fiber. That will make you feel full faster. Drink lots of water.

Thomas asks…

Do i have to excercise to lose weight even if i have an excellent diet?

I am not a fatty bum bum who is lazy not to exercise, I’m just wondering if there’s anyone who ever lost weight without exercise.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Another potential element missing is time. As mentioned in losing weight takes time to achieve. You can not learn to lose weight in a day or two or even a month. If drastic, it could take more than a year. Generally, the results can be seen in a few months after their participation.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Carol asks…

What is an acai berry and does it help you loose weight?

Ive seen it on ads for weight loss. Is it true that it helps?
What is it and where can you buy it?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Yes, it’s a great natural product. The acai berry is high in anti oxidants and other things. They are a really great way to help augment a solid an exercise and diet program if you are looking to lose weight.

They also help combat fatigue and other things. I have been using them for a couple months now and I have noticed a difference. The best bet in my opinion is to take advantage of the free trial bottle offer that many companies selling the acai berry offer that way you can decided if you really like them without having to buy.

That’s what I did and I used them along with a diet and exercise program and it worked for me. I found that the acai berry was very good at curbing my urge to snack which really helped since it can be so easy to blow that workout right out of the water for naught if I gave in to my urges and had that mid afternoon snack.

I got mine from here

Daniel asks…

How do I continue with any tasks that I start with, in particular exercising?

My second goal at this point in life is to lose a significant amount of weight since I have MS and I want to look and feel good about myself. However, I tend to get off track, even though I have created achievable goals. I have been going to the gym for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the last 2 weeks, except for this week, since I am at home from my University. I am obese again, after having lost 80+ pounds 2 years ago.

I do not wish to go back on the diet, since I believe that exercising will be more beneficial, especially for the cardiovascular system. At the gym I usually do intense cardio and strength training, which includes working on a different muscle for 4-5 days a week, except for legs which I try to do every time I work out, since most of the fat is accumulated for me around the thigh and belly area. I enjoy the workouts.

I have lost some weight (although I am not sure whether I lost mass), but since I am at home this week, I have pretty much gained all of the weight that I lost. Therefore, since I eat very unhealthy foods, I have gained a lot of weight.

I know exactly what I want to do, since I plan things out, however, I am never able to fully follow through with them. Could any one of you kindly suggest a way to maintain the weight loss goal? I just do not have enough control on my cravings for sweet foods, such as cereals, chocolate, etc.
Whenever I go to the gym, I manage to avoid some bad foods, and limit my food intake, but when I do not go there, I eat very unhealthy foods. If anyone could help, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much!

weight loss cardiff answers:

I am sure you already know the answer to this, and that is that you do need to control your diet.

It might help if you started to count calories. This way you do not have to restrict your diet, but everything you eat comes at a price of exercise. I find that it is much easier to say no to that chocolate bar, knowing that if I eat it, it will cost me 20 minutes on the exercise bike. Is it worth it? No, not to me.

Calorie counting is not as troublesome as it sounds. At the beginning you will have too look up the calories on everything you eat, but after a while, you’ll get so good at estimating the calorie content that you will rarely have to look anything up.

As for changing your diet. How to do it probably depends on what kind of a person you are. Will it work better for you to go cold turkey and eat a piece of fruit or vegetable every time you have a chocolate craving? Or do you need to ration your chocolate and just nibble on it when you feel the craving come on? Since you don’t have that much self-control, my advice is to go cold turkey. This means NOT having any temptations in your home, but instead filling up your fridge and cupboards with healthy alternatives.

Take a picture of yourself in your bathing suit and have it on you so that you can look at it every time you feel tempted to eat something that isn’t good for you.

Join weight loss groups, ask for your friends and family to help you reduce temptation etc.

It does get easier – as your body gets used to healthy food, it will slowly stop craving the unhealthy food, the longer you keep it up, the easier it will get. When I was younger, I used to love the taste of junk food – now I can barely eat much of it. I find it too greasy or too sweet.

Bottom line is that you probably cannot beat this without changing your eating habits because you can only exercise so much to burn off calories.

Ruth asks…

When you are trying to lose weight is it better to workout in the morning or at the end of the day?

I am starting a weight loss routine tomorrow, and I am a little confused. At the maximum I am going to take in 1200 calories a day and burn off 500/day. So what I am asking is it better to workout in the morning or at the end of the day.

weight loss cardiff answers:

I would say the morning. It gets your heart rate up, and it stays up for several hours. That burns calories. Also, if you workout on an empty stomach you burn fat.

It all depends on what is easier for you.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Betty asks…

How many calories should I take in?

I used this weight loss calorie calculator and it says I should take in 1600 but when you’re setting it up it asks how active are you (i put moderate)
so does that mean i should only eat 1600 (and it calculates the exercise out)
because i have been eating like 1800 calories then excercise to burn like 200

weight loss cardiff answers:

Eat what you want as long as your making a deficit it doesn’t matter

Sandra asks…

Is walking 2-3 hours a day light, moderate or intense exercise?

Walking normally that is, not brisk.
I want to lose some weight and all these online weight loss calculator things ask about ‘light/moderate/intense’ exercise in order to work out how many calories you should eat in a day in order to lose your required weight.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Walking is light I would say. If you walk briskly, it is light to moderate. But know this; it is an excellent form of fat-burning exercise because 1) you probably operate around 60% of your max-pulse when you walk, which is the PERFECT pulse-zone for just that. 2) because as you said it takes time, you spending 2-3 hours a day on walking. Depending on your weight and physical shape that could mean 1000-1500 calories a day on walking. But as I said, the amount of calories burned would depend on your current physical shape and size so don’t bother counting to perfection exactly how many calories you eat at any given time. Just try to have a general idea.

So to put it simple, light to moderate training where you operate between 55 and 70 % of your max pulse is the best training when your aim is fat-burning. It is also a quite comfortable zone to be in. If you go above 70 % you will instead gradually burn more and more carbohydrates and less fat, more so the higher you go. 2-3 hours is excellent and it gladens me that finally someone here on answersYahoo goes about loosing weight the right way and not through starvation and fanatical counting and controlling of calories at every turn.

If you fail to achieve as good results as you had hoped :
1) be patient and don’t give up too soon
2) eat healthy food. Try to eat slightly less so that you go slightly on a energy-shortage every day, but only a LITTLE. Don’t starve yourself.
3) Increase the tempo you walk in to brisk pace, gradually if you feel that is best.

Thomas asks…

How much weight would you expect a teenage girl with hypothyroidism to lose over the period of a week?

I have hypothyroidism. That’s basically when your thyroid glad which is located in your neck slows your metabolism down. So it’s really hard for me to lose weight. I’m willing to work hard to get the body I want. As of now I weigh 135 pounds and I’m a young teen. Do you think by late March (2 months) I’ll be able to lose 4-5 pounds? I’m aware that weight loss takes a while and it’s even harder for people with hypothyroidism but I’m going to stick to a strict exercise routine.

If it matters by the way I’d like to be down to 120 or by May/June.

I’ve checked my BMI on many calculators and they all say I’m normal. But I want to get rid of the flab 🙂

No negative comments please. I just want to know if I can lose weight with my hypothyroidism. By the way, I take Synthyroid for that.

Thank you so much 🙂
Please ignore the ‘Over a period of one week’ part. It’s nearly midnight so I’m pretty tired. Read the description though!! 🙂

weight loss cardiff answers:

You could definitely lose 4-5lbs by that time, but it will be slow if you don’t really need to lose weight. Your body will be slow to give it up because you’re not fat, but it could happen. I also take Synthroid and I lose 1-2lbs per week. Being on medication makes your thyroid act normal again, so that’s not really a problem anymore. Good luck!
