Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Betty asks…

Did your doctor tell you it was safe to continue losing weight while pregnant?

I’m doing some research on the benefits of losing weight while pregnant. Especially if you are obese.

My doctor is one that said it is fine to lose weight while pregnant and continue on a healthy diet: such as weight watchers. Note: This is not my OB…just the family physician.

But I’d like to here some input and also if anyone has dieted while pregnant…etc……

Thanks.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Its compleatly fine. As long as your not exercising too hard. And your eating a healthy balenced meal. As long as your not taking diet pills and your not starving yourself. Then thats fine. Its really just being healthy, not loosing weight, although you do loose weight in the process. 🙂

edit: and if you do gain some weight, thats okay, dont eat less if you gain some, just make sure you eating enough, not too much, and dont eat junk food.

Charles asks…

is it safe to continue to diet while pregnant?

I am currently doing the LA weightloss program, and I have had a lot of success from it, however, I was wondering if anyone else had dieted to lose weight while pregnant. This diet involves eating healthy foods 6-8 times a day. You have to have a certain amount of servings of each food group a day. My question is, Is it safe to lose weight by dieting healthfully as long as the baby is still growing and healthy?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Your gonna get fat regardless, so why diet.

Thomas asks…

How to lose weight and pregnant?

Ill be 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow. And i wanted to know how do I lose weight while im pregnant cus im gaining weight badly and I wanted to know whats the safest way to lose it and the baby will be fine.

weight loss cardiff answers:

For me, it was eating 5-6 small portions throughout the day. Don’t eliminate the junk you love, that’ll only make you want it more, but limit yourself to say one (small) treat every other day, or once a week. Try to walk or swim, which will help you keep from gaining much. Good luck!

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Thomas asks…

What is the best type of diet to lose weight?

Like high protein, low carb? Low fat? A cleanse or a fast? I want it to be healthy weight loss and hopefully be able to keep the weight off. I’m gonna go grocery shopping (so no weight-watchers or anything) so if it isn’t too much trouble, could you make like a shopping list? Thanks in advance 🙂

weight loss cardiff answers:

80% of weight loss is diet.
You can eat a healthy diet and lose weight.
You can eat a healthy diet and exercise and lose more weight.
You can exercise and eat a poor diet and not lose and even gain weight.
A good healthy diet high in fiber, lean meats, eggs, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, antioxidant foods, healthy beverages and low in added sugar and salt help people lose weight, lower cholesterol, increase energy, improve brain function, lower blood pressure, reduce cancer risk and have a more positive lifestyle!
You need to eat a lot more food and a lot more fiber!
Diets that exclude foods from any food group are fad diets and do not lead to permanent weight loss or solve any other health issues.
First, try to kick your fiber intake to 40 grams of both soluble and insoluble fiber.
Whatever you do, get your fiber from your food, not from a jar.
Fruits and vegetables have good fiber in them. A high fiber diet increases the metabolism.
Try a breakfast cereal with at least 20% of recommended daily allowance of fiber in it. They are usually low in sugar so there is a double benefit. Blueberries or raspberries on top add more fiber and antioxidants. But fresh or frozen, not the kind in syrup.
Raw nuts are a great source of fiber, healthy fats, and antioxidants. Avocados are the best.
Lots of beans, peas, and grains are high fiber. Whole grain breads. Fiber kicks up the metabolism so you actually burn more calories. These foods will give you more gas in the beginning but if eaten daily, the bacteria in the digestive tract will elevate lowering the gas output.
This will get you on the path for a healthy daily bowel movement. This helps clean the system and aids healthy digestion.
I know it goes against everything you’ve heard but eating lots of the right foods will actually help you lose weight!
Next, take an age appropriate basic daily multivitamin. Don’t look at your multivitamin as nutrition but more as an insurance policy. Think of it as filling in the gaps in your daily diet as opposed to a primary source of nutrients.
You have to drink lots of water to be healthy. But you can disguise it. Fill your glass all the way full with ice before pouring low sugar beverages. Try iced green tea with a splash of orange juice in it for sweet. More antioxidants. Add lemon juice to water for flavor. Slice up a cucumber and float it in pitcher of water. Gives it salty fresh taste. But you must drink up to 100 oz of water daily to help your body get rid of waste and the natural toxins.
Last, you need to get 7-10 hours of quality sleep depending on your age. All recent sleep studies report a connection between poor sleep and weight gain.
You must combine a healthy diet with exercise to multiply the benefit. Whether an hour a day in the weight room or just a 30 minute brisk walk every day, the added benefit of a regular exercise program really do increase and accelerate healthy weight loss.

I lost 30 pounds in 5 months by spending my money at the grocery and gym and have kept it off for two years now. 3% of people that attempt weight loss lose it and keep it off for two years. It is not easy. It is a lifestyle change.
Good luck and good health.

Ken asks…

What is the safest way to lose weight?

Diet and exercise or Diet pills and weight loss shakes?

weight loss cardiff answers:

If you are talking SHORT TERM, this two-week-long weight loss program will work. It has worked for me, for Renee Zellweger (after her Bridgett Jones movies) and for many others who need fast weight loss. Follow these steps religiously:

1.Drink lots of fresh water every day using this formula: (your current weight) divided by 2 = ounces of water to consume each day. I like to drink room temperature water from a bottle because it’s easier to “chug.” I put four of the bottles on the kitchen counter and make sure they are all empty by the end of the day. Best to consume them throughout the day.

2.Don’t drink any alcohol of caffeine. No soft drinks. Only green teas. REMEMBER, THIS IS ONLY 14 DAYS. YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU REALLY WANT YOUR GOAL.

3.Fast walk or run for at least 60 minutes each day. It’s best to exercise in the morning since it will rev up your metabolism and keep our calorie-burn rate high throughout the day. You can do this by walking in place, using a treadmill, or walking outside. Whatever works for you.

4.Do at least 50 crunches each day. I break mine into 2 or 3 different sessions. Also, if I need to do 20 crunches, I play a little trick with my mind and I “pretend” I am going to count to 25. It’s amazing how this helps the body get to all of the crunches with the same intensity.

5.Eat only fresh vegetables! This is the key to the whole thing. Eat as many as you want, but DON’T eat any of the following: starchy vegetables including potatoes, squashes, pumpkins, and the like. They will work against you. Limit carrots, snow peas, and other veggies that are high in sugar content. NO GRAINS. Just fresh vegetables. You can eat salads, stir-fries, steamed, etc. But this is at the heart of your success.

6.Don’t eat anything after 7:00 p.m.

7.Put photographs (from magazines) up all over your house of trim, fit women. They will serve as motivators.

8.Several times each day – especially when you first get up and when you go to bed, say something like: “I am enjoying my weight of (your goal weight).” Put it in the present tense and say it many times – with feeling! This will affect your subconscious mind to help you achieve your goal. Also, post these words in the same places where you post the photographs.

Also, don’t be surprised if you start feeling better than you have felt in a long time. You will have more energy, most aches and pains will be gone, and your whole body will look brighter. One warning, early on your elimination will be a little “urgent.” You may have some cramping. But this will all go away soon. Your body is in a deep cleanse.

Steven asks…

What are some excercises that are easy on the feet?

Towards the end of November I got a bunionectomy, on my right foot. I was told I cannot run until December this year [2007]. I need some excercises to keep me in shape. I used to run competitvly, and I hate not being able to participate in races anymore! I love pilates, and yoga, so anything associated would be great, or ust something I could do at home 😀 I’d also like some tips on weight loss? I’m 116 and 5’6, so something to help me maintain or lose, would be greatly appreciated!

Donald asks…

I am starting a weight loss competition in my family, whats the best way to measure progress?

I wanted to start a weight loss competition this summer in my family, but I wanted it to be fair. For example its probably easier for my 260 pound brother to lose a pound than my 160 pound mom.

So whats is the best way to compare? Should it just be percentage of mass? Should fat be considered? Should i buy a body fat analyzer? Because i guess if someone lost 10 pounds of fat and gained 3 pounds of muscle, wouldn’t that be better than someone else who just lost 9 pounds of fat?

Just curious what people’s thoughts on this are, i want it to be as fair as possible but with accurate measures of comparison.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Mandy asks…

How can I keep fit/lose weight easily if I am a teenager?

I am not overweight or obese, but I do want to keep fit or do some sort of exercise to lose a bit of weight. Also I a, terrified of what people think of me some find it very hard to exercise or do anything in public where people can see me.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Well, you need to do cardio exercises, like walking, running, swimming and so on, these exercises will tone your body very quickly, and you don’t need alot of money to do them, i mean, you could walk, and not take the car all the time, and go swimming with your friend, atleast twice a week? If you do that, and keep a healthy diet, you will tone up! But you also need to cut back on white bread, swap it for brown, get semi skinned milk, not full fat, and just cut down on carbs!!!

Mark asks…

how does a 15 year old teenager lose weight easily.?

Im not exactly over weight, or obese, but im not as skinny as id like to be. I have this beautiful, skinny, best friend with a hour glass figure, and shes always getting guys after her, but i dont. i dont feel pretty, or beautiful, or anything. Im so self conscious and I need to do something about it. Ive googled it before, and ive seen drink tons of water, and eat like 5 meals a day, well theres a problem with that. Carol asks…

How to lose weight easily?

I’m an obese teenager and nothing seems to help with my genes and the things my family eats, I’ve been trying for almost a year now, and I’m not sure if it’s because of my weak will or just plain lazyness. I want to lose weight for my appearance and the way I feel. I’m confident about everything with my body but my obesity just crosses all of it out and makes me look like an ugly mofo, and I could never get a girlfriend with the way I look right now, if I could I’d either have to pay her and beg for it. Also I always feel slow and it’s hard to breathe, and I’ve never fitted in in school because of my weight, the only benefit is the intimidation I’ve had on people, and that can only do so much when you’re in school.

I’m not looking for what to eat or how to exercise cause I got all of that. I’m just sitting here thinking what the hell is wrong with for me to keep failing and failing, because it’s literally the ONLY thing in my life I don’t like, and I really don’t like it.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Well, DO you have all of the information for exercise and what to eat? I was obese and thought I knew it, too, but I was totally wrong. It was all the stuff that other people claimed they did or saw in a magazine and that stuff was just incorrect as hell.

That being said, you clearly don’t have the motivation to lose weight. Oh, sure, you complain and whine that you’re miserable and fear that you’ll never find anyone to love you, but let’s face it, you’ve made a choice: you would rather be lazy and eat like crap than actually fix your problem. You see what your family eats and instead of saying, “No, today I will stop shoveling whatever they make down my gullet and make my own meal for a change” you instead just keep eating.

That’s your problem. Your laziness and lack of desire to change outweighs your angst about being overweight. That’s why other people are overweight, too. That’s also why people keep up bad habits, like smoking or chronic drinking or mismanaging stress or yelling at their family and friends: they know they need to change, but their desire to change doesn’t outweigh their desire to continue the behavior.
