Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Mary asks…

Healthy/Easy recipes?

Ok all you cooks out there I need some help!

I want to cook my family an absolutely delicious meal that is extremely healthy and made up of cancer-fighting ingredients, weightloss friendly foods, and just an overall extremely healthy, yet easy meal.

I would prefereably like it to be things that most people have in their house or ingredients that arent to expensive to buy.

Do you know of any drink recipie, main course and 2-3 side dish meal like this?

I appreciate it so much!

Healthy dinner? No problem! 😉

Here’s a menu for a soup-sandwich combo! Start with Chilled Tomato Soup, next comes Turkey Veggie Wraps and a side of Tangy Coleslaw. Also included is a delicious smoothie recipe =)

Chilled Tomato Soup:
1/4 cup olive oil
3 cups peeled and thinly sliced onions
3 tablespoons thinly sliced garlic
2 bay leaves
4 pounds firm, heirloom tomatoes, cored, seeded, and cut into eighths
1 tablespoon plus 1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon thyme leaves
4 cups water
2 cups chicken stock
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Hot sauce

In a large saucepan over medium heat, heat the olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the onions and saute until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and bay leaves and cook for 5 more minutes. Add the tomatoes, 1 tablespoon salt, and thyme and cook for 15 minutes or until the tomatoes soften. Add the water and stock and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and continue to cook until the tomatoes are very tender, about 10 minutes. Remove the bay leaves. Using a handheld blender, puree the soup until smooth. Chill the soup. Add 1 tablespoon of the lemon juice and hot sauce to taste, as desired.

Turkey Veggie Wraps:
2 cups coarsely chopped smoked turkey breast (about 8 ounces)
2 cups gourmet salad greens
1/2 cup fresh corn kernels (about 1 ear)
1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions
3 tablespoons light ranch dressing
4 (8-inch) flour tortillas

Combine first 6 ingredients in a large bowl, tossing well to coat. Warm tortillas according to package directions. Top each tortilla with 1 cup turkey mixture; roll up. Cut each wrap in half diagonally.

Tangy Coleslaw:
Combine 1/4 cup low-fat mayonnaise, 1/4 cup plain fat-free yogurt, 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar, 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish, 1 teaspoon dry mustard, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Toss with half of a 16-ounce package cabbage-and-carrot coleslaw; cover and chill.

Yogurt n Fruit Smoothie:
2 cups fat-free milk
1 (8-ounce) container vanilla low-fat yogurt
1/2 cup thawed pineapple-orange juice concentrate
2 cups frozen strawberries
1 banana, coarsely chopped

Process all ingredients in a blender until smooth, stopping to scrape down sides. Serve immediately

David asks…

I need quick easy meal recipes for family that are low in calories, carbs, fat or sodium?

My teenage son has been working at a camp in North Carolina for the past couple of months. He has gone from sitting around on the computer to being outside and working. He has lost a bit of weight and is so thrilled. I want to change the entire eating habits of this family. I am looking for recipes that are cheap, easy, quick..but most importantly, healthy and will help him continue with weight loss. I also hope to help him continue to lead a more active lifestyle. All your suggestions and recipes are appreciated.
Vegetarian is a plus.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Well some foods that are yummy and are low in carb are ground turkey (turkey and chicken i know tons of ways to make them and they are so tasty as well. Grill chicken is very healthy and very easy to make with steamed broccoli yum and ground turkey burgers they taste the same as beef and have no grease. The buns can be wheat buns and they are yummy as well. Also for some thing super quick try the perdue chicken and turkey cuts they are new and are already cut and cook all you have to do is microwave it for 40 sec. And but it on a wheat wrap and lettuce and tomatoes for any more stuff write me back

Mark asks…

What is the most effective weight loss and fitness plan?

I would like to know the most effective weight loss and fitness plans that have worked best for people. I want to try and develop my own plan and would like outside ideas on work outs, recipes, etc.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Its an easy formula. What’s hard is sticking to it.
1. Calculate on average how many calories you eat a day (eg 1800)
2. Reduce the number by 500 (eg 1300)
3. Now that you have a limit, you decide ‘do i really want to eat this because it has x number of calories.’
4. In addition, try doing exercise without thinking of it as a chore.
5. Have something to work towards (a REALISTIC goal) such as fitting into a pair of jeans you cant atm.
6. Stick to this and the weight will drop off (eventually 🙂 )

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Richard asks…

Does the south beach diet recipes book work?

I’m thinking of buying it… but I want to make sure it works because I’ve tried lots of other diet books an they didn’t really help.

weight loss cardiff answers:

I have just started this diet i have lost 3lbs in 2 days, which compared to other diets is quite alot, it says in the book that if you gain weight around your midrift the most, then this is the best kind of diet for you, because those are the people that loose weight fastest.

I thought it was a good idea to do this as, because like everyone, i wanted a quick fix and this seems like the answer haha but i also noticed that it eases you back into a healthy eating plan, which is good for me, i eat relatively healthy anyway, i just put weight on over christmas and because i am in a new relationship and eat out alot, also i have a major chocolate habbit haha

but im hoping this will work, you can download the book on the internet if you are worried about it being another fad diet that way you wont have wasted money, you can download it from any torrent site, type south beach diet torrent…. Thats how i got the book.

And the majority of meals are lovely and tastey aswell

i always find aswell if im craving something to just have a taster of it, because if i just have a cube of chocolate as soon as i fancy it, i wont end up eating an entire bar after stopping myself for two days haha

i hope this helps, i cant believe nobody else replyed???

Sandy asks…

Does anyone know of any BARF diet recipes?

I’m new to feed raw diet and I was wondering if anyone has any recipes?

weight loss cardiff answers:

A BARF diet is more complicated then a prey model raw diet. With prey model raw they just need 3 different protein sources and 80% muscle meat, 10% bone, 5% liver and %5 kidney and other organs. All you have to supplement is fish oil. With BARF there is a lot more supplements and its just more confusing.

Before you feed any raw diet you need to do lots of research.

Joseph asks…

What is the best diet to go on(if i have 2 weeks to lose weight)?

suggestions?
Im going on holiday in about 2 weeks, and i just want to slim down a little bit before i go.
helpp 🙂
xx

weight loss cardiff answers:

Well, it all depends how much weight you want to lose. I just went on holiday and I thoroughly enjoyed myself, but I am determined to slim back down to below my original weight. I am currently using a diet I found in ‘best’ magazine. It involves a combination of 3 low-calorie meals, 2 low-calorie snacks and 9 exercises designed to budge hard-to-shift weight. If you follow every step, you can lose up to 7lb in just 10 days. However, if you ask me, eating normally but exercising for 30-60 minutes a day is far better, and it also means that you can keep the weight off more permanently, because you won’t be depriving yourself of any foods. Whatever you decide to do, just take it steady and don’t push yourself. I thought the exact same as you before I left, but when you spend your holiday, you won’t care what you look like. I hope you enjoy your holiday!

Sarah

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Ruth asks…

does anybody know of easy weight loss tips?

i was just wondering if anybody knows of good weight loss tips to lose about 20lbs or so. ive just recently heard that eating eggs for breakfast will help, is there any other ones like this?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Eat regularly

Most dieters think that by skipping meals they are going to lose weight quickly. NO! It doesn’t work like that. If you skip meals then your body starts to think there’s a famine coming, which means your body piles on the fat to survive the famine. Eat regular meals.

Don’t Deny Yourself

Many dieters will deny themselves anything naughty such as chocolate, cakes and so on. Trouble is, when you deny yourself something, you want it more. So instead CHOOSE not to have it, because then you are in control. Occasionally, you may choose to have it, which is great too.

Drink, drink, drink

And no, I don’t mean alcohol. I mean yummy, delicious water. Drink plenty of it as it will flush toxins from your system and help keep you healthy. The experts recommend that you should drink at least 2 liters (just over 4 pints) of water every single day. Avoid caffeinated drinks and fizzy soda’s as these don’t help quench your thirst or remove the toxins from your system.

Betty asks…

Weight loss tips on staying motivated?

I know this is asked ten thousand times, however, I am going to ask again.

Any good tips on CD’s or something that keeps the motivation up for weight loss? Or just motivation in general?

Thanks =0)

weight loss cardiff answers:

I know it’s so hard sometimes!

I keep ALL junk food OUT of the house. When I need motivation I watch stuff like the health channel or FIT TV or those shows about the 900 lb people. If they can lose the weight, so can I!!

Also, if you are feeling lazy and making excuses, just get up and GO to the gym. I always force myself to go and tell myself that even ten minutes is better than nothing…and usually once I get there it feels so much better when I get into a workout, I’m glad I did it!

Oh and finding a workout buddy works, do you have a friend who can help keep you on track? It always helps to get a partner in crime!

Good luck and keep at it girl!

Maria asks…

What are some good weight loss tips?

what are some good weight loss tips,, i dont want the fastest way i jus want the most succesful way?

weight loss cardiff answers:

1 Dietary control and exercise. It’s true what they say – all you need to do is watch what you eat, and expend more energy than you consume. It’s really that simple. You can quit reading this list now, you now know everything you need to know and didn’t need to fork over $500 for the privilege of me telling you the secret of losing weight. You don’t need to read a 4,000 page book, you don’t have to buy a tape series, you don’t need to stay up late at night to watch infomercials to understand this basic premise. It’s 100% true.

2 Change your lifestyle. If you’re calling this a “diet,” then you’re going to gain all the weight back (and more) within a few months of losing it. Diets do not work. Diets are temporary. When you change your dietary lifestyle, however, you’re changing your habits – and you’re putting yourself on track for long-term / continued success and weight maintenance. Don’t ever tell anybody you’re on a diet – ever. I’m speaking from experience, here – a reformed low-carber. Worked out well for a while, but ultimately failed because my entire lifestyle didn’t change (permanently).

3 Join an online support group. In my case, I created my own – FatBlasters. It’s essential that you not feel alone, and reaching out to friends (new or old) is typically a smart move. I just heard about PeetTrainer, but didn’t know about it when I began down the road to weight loss. You have to know that others are out there for moral support – they know things that you couldn’t possibly know, and they’ve probably been “in your shoes” at some point in the past (or present). Share stories, laughter, tears, successes, and failures – share them. There are thousands of communities out there, so keep looking until you find the one that fits you.

4 Take before and after photos. I know it sucks to see yourself as a chunky monkey (sorry, that’s what I called myself – if only to get myself motivated to meet my weight loss goal). However, there’s no easier way to illustrate your progress. The “after” photos are far more fun to capture and share, admittedly. Find yourself on Flickr! It’s good to see yourself how others see you. Do you like how you look? In many ways, Flickr helped me lose weight.

5 Hire a substitute teacher. Don’t reach for the brands you know and love immediately – or without thinking first. Eggs are “good” for you, but consider using egg substitutes instead (in fact, many restaurants will let you order lower calorie foods). There are countless “lower” alternatives for you to try. If something different doesn’t taste good, by all means – find a better substitute, or eat less of the original. In some cases, the substitute may be worse for you than the regular version of the product. The good news is, healthier choices are silently replacing their “normal” counterparts – and they taste just as nice.

6 Start reading labels. I know it sucks, but you have to do it – and there’s no way to avoid this tip. If you don’t know what you’re putting in your mouth, you’re flying blind. Don’t assume, either – triple-check the ingredients list and serving sizes. You must rely on yourself for this; nobody else is going to be able to lose the weight or do the math for you. It’s not that complicated a task, but it will require effort. If nothing else, just pay attention to the calorie count.

7 What’s so funny about bovines? If you like cheese, you must buy the Laughing Cow brand, and keep several of the suckers in stock at all times. The individually-wrapped wedges make for excellent snacks, and are wonderful when melted over just about anything edible. I’d be careful about straight-up American cheese, though – it’s oil, but not necessarily as good for you as (say) a slice of cheddar would be. I have yet to find something as calorie-light and filling as Laughing Cow (I don’t know how they do it).

8 Tell your family. You’re not going to lose the weight alone, even if you ARE alone in losing the weight. If you’ve got a family at home, talk to them about it – initially, not incessantly. Let them know what you’re going to do, and that you want (and need) their support. If you don’t let them know, you’re running the risk of them inadvertently sabotaging your efforts. You want them to help you get to your goal(s). You want them to share in your happiness when you’ve made it past a certain mark. Who knows? Maybe some of your new habits will rub off on them and they’ll become healthier people, too?
