When I was younger, I was super skinny. But during college, I gained tons of weight because I stopped exercising. I felt disgusting because I didn’t fit into any of my clothes anymore and always felt tired. I seriously just woke up one morning and decided I wanted to change all that. I wasn’t happy with who I was but with dedication, I changed my life. I became a vegetarian, stopped eating junk food/sugary sweets, and jogged for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week. I also started using the foot detoxification pads though I don’t know if that helped me lose weight but it certainly gave me more energy to exercise more. My friends all noticed I’m much slimmer now. Weight problems can result from untreated underactive thyroid or hypothyroidism. Have you been tested for this condition?
You should see your doctor and ask for the following blood tests: TSH, FT4, FT3 and most importantly anti-thyroid antibodies.
Only they can reveal if you have a problem with your thyroid, like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
Normal TSH is 0.3-3. (Some doctors still use the out-dated reference range of 0.5-5.5)
Some doctors are very misinformed and not knowledgeable about thyroid conditions.

How can I lose weight, I’m 118 lbs and almost 5’4?

I used to weigh 113, but I weigh more now. So I want to lose 5 lbs, but don’t want to work out harshly that I’d be exhausted. I work out for 4 days a week for 20 minutes per day. Somehow, I can’t stop eating junk food. I keep eating chips and lots of chocolate, so I think this is why I gain weight. Do you have any easy weight loss tips and how to be able to resist those fatty foods?

Weight loss is an overall process. You need to think about many factors. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.

Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

Make a few additional small changes – walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.

Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can’t get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one.

In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.

Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate – in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don’t. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.

Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.

Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.

Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.

An area that many people overlook is getting enough sleep. You are much more likely to overeat or to binge eat if you are tired and not well rested, so get enough sleep.

why do I lose weight easily?

I’ve been trying to gain weight/muscle for the past 2 or 3 years now. I was 130 lbs when I started to work out and recently I was 160+ and 5’9″. When I work out on a regular basis with rest in between I gain about a pound or two of muscle a month. Recently because of finals I didn’t eat too much or go to the gym for about two weeks and I lost 10 pounds. No matter how much I eat and how much I work out it’s so hard to gain weight/muscle for me. It’s always been like this where I might skip a meal or two and lose 5 pounds and it takes me about 3 months to regain that weight. I know there’s probably a lot of people who would love to be in my situation. By the way I do a little bit more running than any upper body workouts. I do eat healthy foods. Tips please anyone?

Will I lose weight with the removal of a dermoid cyst?

I had a large dermoid cyst and my right ovary removed 2 weeks ago. Will I lose weight now the cyst is removed? I know I will lose whatever the weight of the cyst was but will I lose weight much easily now?

I doubt it. You may just have a bit of a smaller stomach because it isnt there anymore. It really has nothing to do with your metabolism. My friend had one removed a few months ago and its just normal for her, except she doesnt feel pregnant.

Really hardcore pilates. My favorite one is where you lie flat on your back on the floor, then you lift one leg and hold it for a few seconds. Alternate this for both legs and do reps until you can’t do them anymore.

Also, do yoga when you go to sleep and when you first wake up. Make it part of your routine, like brushing your teeth. It won’t make you lose weight, but it will lengthen your legs and improve your posture.

You can insert exercise in your everyday life easily.

Instead of getting a ride walk more. Have your parents park farther. Walk 15 minutes a day. If that is too hard for you then I am not sure.

Now you can lose weight naturally. Just keep this in mind for food.

Avoid salts, avoid processed foods. High protein plus low fat=very good. High fiber means you will be hungry less and full more.

Yogurt has been proven to reduce fat.

Eat more vegetables. Eat oatmeal with fruit for breakfast. For lunch eat a salad, rye sandwhich something. Don’t eat carbs after 8 pm. Eat fastfood or out only once or twice a week.

Don’t drink soda, diet or otherwise. You do this and you can lose 2 plus pounds a week. A month about 10 pounds. You should be find in one or two months of just some basic eating habits.

No pills. Seriously though try oatmeal and fruit, not instant, drink a full cup of water and bet you won’t be hungry as you were eating cereal.

For someone who is your height you aren’t as over weight as you might think you are. Just try to eat right and get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. Every if you take 3 10 min walks a day that still considered exercise. You need to stop worrying about your weight and start worrying about your health. You can be healthy and still be heavier than other people your age and height. By the way muscle weights more than fat. So all these stick thin girls weighing 95 pounds and fainting from not eating have no muscle tone (which by the way guys find a toned girl way more appealing than someone who looks cancer stricken) and are not as healthy as you. How to lose weight without getting excess skin?

Hey guys!

I was involved in a serious car accident a few months ago and gained a lot of weight as I broke my back and was unable to walk. After intense physio therapy I am now able to exercise and walk as normal. I currently weigh 18stone and I am 20 years old.
