Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

James asks…

Please help me come up with a “regimented diet”?

Hey guys. I know nutritional knowledge is important and I AM interested, but I am preparing for military service and I really want to get fit as soon as possible and change the health of my body to better serve. To this end I would love to have something like an “ultimate diet” where I wouldn’t have to worry about how much I eat/drink, or exactly WHAT I eat or drink in any given day.

First off, some (relevant?) info on me:

I am about to turn 20. I weigh ~160 pounds. I am about 5″6.5′.
I run three times a day, for between 20-40 minutes on average, my goal being at least 2.5 miles every time. I do some weights and calasthenics (I messed that spelling I know) but none consistently, which I’m going to work to change. I am very committed to this goal.

Secondly, this is the only thing like this I’ve seen in my cursory reading tonight:

WEIGHT LOSS DIET
The program was developed in conjunction with the grant from U.S. Department of agriculture and their Food & Drug Administration. It was field tested at the John Hopkins Research Center and was approved by the Board of Directors of General Motor Corporation at a general meeting on August 15, 1995.
It is management’s intention to facilitate a welfare and fitness program for everyone. This program is designed for a target weight loss of 5 to 6 Kgs per week.
It will also improve your attitude and emotions because of its systematic cleansing effects.
The effectiveness of this seven day plan is that the foods eaten burn more calories than they give to the body in calorific value.
This plan can be used as often as you like without any fear of complications. It is designed to flush your system of impurities and give you feeling of well being. After seven days you will begin to feel lighter by at least 10 pounds. You will have an abundance of Energy and an improved digestion.

DURING THESE SEVEN DAYS YOU MUST DRINK 10 GLASSES OF WATER EACH DAY.
Day One:
All fruits except bananas: Your first day will consist of all fruits you want. It is suggested you consume lots of melons the first day, especially water melons.
Day Two:
All vegetables: You are encouraged to eat until you are stuffed with all the raw and cooked vegetables of your choice. There is no limit of the amount or type. Avoid Oil and coconut while cooking vegetables. Have a large boiled potato for breakfast.
Day Three:
Any mixture of fruits and vegetables of your choice: Any amount, any quantity. No bananas and no potatoes today.
Day Four:
Bananas and Milk: today you will eat as many as eight bananas and drink three glasses of milk. You can also have one bowl of vegetable soup.
Day Five:
Today is a feast day: You will eat 1 cup of rice. You also have to eat six whole tomatoes. Drink 13 glasses of water today to cleanse your system of the excess uric acid you will be producing.
Day Six:
Today is another all Vegetables day. You may eat 1 cup of rice today. Eat all vegetables you want cooked and uncooked to your hearts content.
Day Seven:
Today your food intake will consist of 1 cup of rice, fruit juices and all the vegetables you care to consume.

Tomorrow Morning you will be five to eight Kgs lighter than 1 week ago. If you desire further weight loss, repeat the program again. Repeat this program as often as you like. However it is suggested that you rest for three days before every repetition.
You have your system under control now and it will thank you for all the purging and cleansing you just gave it. Even more that a diet programs it is good to follow this diet once in a while to clean your digestive system and remove toxic substances that have accumulated in the system.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
The most important element of the program is 10 tall glasses of water a day. You can also flavour the water with some lemon to make the drinking easier.
While on program take only black coffee.
Never more that 1 teaspoon of oil. Preferably do not use oil because of high calorific content. No fruit juices before day seven.
Here is what happens to your body while you are on this program and how and why it works.
Day One: you are preparing your system for upcoming program. Your only source of nutrition is fresh fruits. Fruits are nature’s perfect food. They provide everything you can possibly want to sustain life except total balance and variety.
Day two: Starts with mix of complex carbohydrates in the form of boiled potato. This is taken in the morning to provide energy and balance. The rest of day two consists of vegetables, which are virtually calorie free and provide essential nutrients and fibers.
Day three eliminates the potato because you get your carbohydrates from fruits. Your system is now prepared to start burning excess pounds.
Day four bananas and milk sound the least desirable. Today is the day you can have coffee with milk. You are in for a surprise. You probably will not be able to eat all the bananas allowed. But they are there for the potassium you have lost an

Sandra asks…

Intermittent fasting for a former anorexic – is this ok? My eating pattern:?

I am 23 and 5’3” and I weight 112lbs. I am not fat nor do I think I am fat. When I was 15, I developed anorexia and up until I was 19 it ruled my life. Weight is still a part of my daily life along with eating and exercise. The daily calorie counting and exercise has been driving me crazy lately..it takes all my energy to maintain my 112lb weight without losing or gaining.

Anyway, lately, I have been reading a lot about intermittent fasting. I am starting a new job next week and the stress brought on a lot of anxiety so I would eat and exercise, eat, exercise…and I needed a break from the stress so I decided to try a fasting day.

I ate normally on Monday, probably around 1700 calories and I worked out for 30 minutes on my incline treadmill.
So Tuesday, I fasted. I did have black coffee, black tea and a diet coke (which I know is not good but I need caffeine when I’m at work) but calories wise I ate absolutely nothing. It was hard and easy at the same time. I didn’t have to worry about the treadmill, I was able to relax.

Anyway, I was 112lbs and today, after the 1 day fast, I am 108lbs. I know it’s mostly water weight. My goal is not to lose weight, just balance my eating, exercising and weight without the stress and fasting really helped me.
Today is Wednesday and I am eating normally. I even had a couple M&M’s πŸ™‚ I am going to workout tonight and I am planning on another 1 day fast tomorrow and then I am going to eat normally for a week and then the following week, I would like to do 1 or 2, maybe even 3 fasting days spread over the week.

My question is, is this healthy?? I mean, to eat nothing every couple of days?? I feel really cleansed and good. I never got dizzy. I don’t and never would strain myself on a fasting day and I don’t starve myself on the days I do eat, I eat like a normal person (for the first time in years I can eat a peanut butter sandwich without the anxiety!) πŸ™‚

??? What does everyone think?

(Just a note, I would not use this as a form of weight loss as mostly you lose water weight and your metabolism slows when you don’t eat. I am doing this for maintenence and to be free from anxiety brought on by my past struggles with anorexia) – With this fast, I will maintain a 112lb weight as I know that after my day of normal eating, my weight will most likely return to 112lbs.) 108 lbs is just water weight loss, not fat .

weight loss cardiff answers:

No dear, this is not healthy at all!
First off, ill say that i pray you didnt work out the day you ate nothing.
Second, this is not healthy! Your at a wonderful weight, so please dont try to lose. Try to maintain a weight of 112 pounds.
This is not very healthy at all. You will not gain weight by eating 1700 calories. So lets say you fast” every second day, that means your eatin about 850 calories a day. (1700 divided by 2)
thats not good at all. Your putting your body into starvation mode.
The day you fasted you burned about a pound of actual fat, but its not the right way to go!
Please try eating more, you dont want to develop an eating disorder again, and you want to be safe, and you definatly do not want excercise and weight ruling your ife. Trust me. I know how you feel. You just want to feel beautiful and im sure you are:)

please try eating a bti healthier, and a bit more, and please dont fast. Its not a healthy idea.

Good luck to you:)
and be wel:)

Daniel asks…

Is it possible to be both bullimic and anorexic at the same time?

I’m confused. My mother says I’m bullimic yet my friend says I’m anorexic :/ Personally, I don’t want to be labelled. I just have problems that I need to overcome, and I will, after I finally get down to the weight I want to and then I can lead a vegan lifestyle.

I started with the master cleanse (I wanted to detox my body for clarity of the mind) and it lasted 7 days. During that time, I lost alot of weight – about 8lbs and it was great. But then, instead of ‘easing out’ and eating healthily, I binged. After that, I decided to take up water fasting. I wanted to go back to the weight I was when I had lost, and even more. This was the start of the summer holidays. So, I said to myself I’d go on a 7 day water fast.. I only lasted 3 days (fuck willpower). But then, I broke it again and binged. But, it wasn’t a binge of 2000+ calories, I mean, it was a binge where I’d eat only the same item that wasn’t healthy (particuarly pancakes or cheese on toast depending on the day).

And this kept on happening over and over and over. A constant cycle. ‘I’d keep on saying to myself, I’ll fast tomorrow’ but I never did complete one. That’s when things changed. I decided to go on an apple and water only fast for a week, and it was sucessful! I’d only eat 1 apple a day, so it was close enough to fasting. But then.. I binged. Fucking sucks. That’s when I asked my mum to buy me some laxatives, the stimulant ones, and she did. It was so I could start of fresh with my fast and perhaps lose a few lbs or so. I started taking laxatives as the packets said. But once again fast->binge, so then I took double the dose and oh boy, I thought I was dying. They woke me up at 5am and the pain didn’t go away until 8am. Afterwards, I felt really light though. After that, I would use laxatives once a week, and I would take the dose it recommended on the packet.

But then, I ran out. My mother refused to buy me any more. So, I know I shouldn’t of, but I binged.. then purged. It was easier than I thought, and the more I did it, the easier. I wasn’t doing it everyday, but about once/twice a week. I got really depressed. I’d be weighing myself 3 times a day and I’d see my weight drop and gain. It was depressing.

At the start, I didn’t start for weight loss, but now, it’s a different story. I have so much stomach fat, it’s terrible and it gets me down. It’s all I can think about. People tell me I’m skinny, but oh boy, they haven’t seen my stomach when I’m bloated and I hope they never do. I’m now at school, and I’ve started my water fast. This time, it has been sucessfull, I’m on my 5th day, down to 105lbs at 5ft8 and I’m hoping to get to 98lbs once 2 weeks have passed. I’m drinking lots of water, 2+ litres a day, 1 tbsp of cayenne pepper and 500ml of green tea to boost my metabolism. This time, I’m going to do it and ease out properly.
