Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Helen asks…

Can I be a dietitian without being a registered dietitian?

I would like to go back to school to become a dietitian but after doing some research with the ADA I have found that to become a registered dietitian I have to attend one of their CADE approved schools. The problem is that none of these schools are near where I live. If I get a degree in nutrition science can I still be a dietitian but just not a registered one or what are some other career options with that degree?

weight loss cardiff answers:

No, you must attend a CADE certified school and then get into an internship program. There are plent of CADE approved schools that offer degrees online though!

Mandy asks…

Is being a dietitian the only way to get involved in nutrition counseling?

Because I really don’t like how ADA (American Dietitian Association) focuses so much on physical science and western medicine, I just want to focus on the psy part of it and the application of nutrition in life, I could care less why things are the way they are. If not I can just pick something else which is ok.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Seems obvious, but a regular old medical doctor is where most of us get information/counseling.

John asks…

Do you think that seeing a dietitian will help you in your pregnancy?

I am 25 weeks and my midwife recommended that I go and see a dietitian, but did any of you see one. The way my MW is telling me to eat seems totally bogus. She is telling me no bread and yogurt and less fruit. Did seeing a dietitian actually help you all eat healthy during your pregnancies. Do you wish you would of seen one before you did, like a few weeks before. I do. Do they give you advice that helps you after you give birth?

weight loss cardiff answers:

I seen one… My husband is in the military and the hospital requires you to go see one…
I enjoyed going to see the dietitian because there were some things that I had been told to stay away from and she told me that I could have some of those things… One advantage for myself was that when I went home from the hospital, two days after delivering, you couldn’t tell that I had a baby. My weight dropped very quickly!
Yes… I had a follow up appointment with her and continued with a diet plan that made breast feeding easier.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Chris asks…

Why do some people lose weight more easily than others?

For example my friend and I weighed the same amount her about five pounds more. I was always in sports and active she not so much. But when we went to college we ate less and walked everywhere, she lost 40 pounds with that alone, I lost 10 maybe. After learning that I worked out everyday on the elliptical and treadmill 45 min a day 5 days a week with 3 days of weight training for 8 months straight and still only lost 35 pounds her weight loss on the other hand went up to 70 pounds from still doing the same thing. It’s a little discouraging to see that no matter how much harder I work I lose less. So to go back to the Original question, why do some people lose weight more easily than others?

weight loss cardiff answers:

It all boils down to metabolism and genetics. Sorry girl but that’s just nature.

The good news is that with building muscle and eating regularly you CAN increase your metabolism.

Steven asks…

how do you lose weight after a c-section?

im not allowed to excercise for 3 months and since im breast feeding im not allowed to diet either how am i supposed to lose my pregnancy weight? ive lost 20 easily the first week but i stopped losing weight as all my water weight etc. is gone and the rest is all fat. i still have 20 more pounds to lose to get to my pre-pregnancy weight. ive been eating healthy but my pediatrician said i need to eat at least 2000 calories a day while breastfeeding

weight loss cardiff answers:

Breast feeding does help tremendously to lose weight. My mother had me via c-section and said breastfeeding helped her shed the pregnancy weight. In addition, you can exercise, however, in moderation, beginning gradually. A 20 minute walk with light-weight dumbbells 3-4 times a week would be a good place to start. The weights add some challenge and help burn calories without adding too much strain on your body. You can build up to a brisk walk and eventually a jog. Another alternative is swimming or using an elliptical trainer (low-impact exercise). But the point overall is to maintain a steady, consistent regimen. Be aware of how your body feels during and after a light workout- if it is too much, your body will tell you, so LISTEN.

Also, with respect to diet, if you need to consume 2000 KCa/day, consider where those calories are coming from. Limit your fat intake, increase your intake of fruits, vegetables, poultry and fish, which provide healthy calories packed with nutrition, which will be better for the baby during breastfeeding.

Hope that helps!
