Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Robert asks…

How can i easily lose weight in a week?

I would like to lose some weight

weight loss cardiff answers:

Fast weight loss is not healthy for your body. It will stress if weight is lost quickly and this will damage your organs. A good thing to do would be to get rid of junk food and put healthy foods in front of you. I think there was a woman on the news who lost 200-300 pounds in 2 years from just doing one thing: eating natural, unprocessed foods. =)

Lisa asks…

Why do mean lose weight more easily than women?

I’m on a diet and try to eat pretty healthy and exercise sometimes. My husband eats pretty healthy, doesn’t exercise at all, but doesn’t eat much either. I mean does that mean I shouldn’t eat much either? He’s losing weight so fast and I’m gaining one week and losing the next. Ugh, why do men lose weight so easily?
Please don’t tell me about any pills or supplements that help lose weight.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Weight loss is connected with muscle. Generally men naturally have more muscle mass then women which gives us a faster metabloism. So while he may eat more then you he may lose more weight quicker and faster. I would suggest a small weight training regime in addition to your regular exercise. Nothing much, maybe 20 minuntes two or three times a week. You will build some muscle, lose fat, and in the long run lose more weight.

David asks…

how do you lose weight easily, without buying products or having to read long books?

my mother told, me a good way to lose weight, is to drink 8oz of grapefruit juice, before every meal you eat (she got this from a magazine), and it takes like 12 weeks just to lose 3.3 pounds. is there another way to lose weight easily without having to buy products or reading books? and for it not to take a long time?

weight loss cardiff answers:

That is the same as drinking water. Suppose to make you feel more full.

Eat what you want………just eat half of it. It is just cutting back, and moving around more.

David asks…

What are some good weight loss recipes (easy ones!)?

I’m going on holiday in 5 weeks and want to lose some weight/flatten stomach beforehand. I cycle around 20 minutes a day (getting to places).
What are some yummy low calorie recipes that I could use – that are relatively simple (and I mean SIMPLE please! – I’m a student and will just end up being too lazy to make elaborate stir-fries, or even follow diet plans that include too large an array of recipes that I can’t afford or make). I’m a fan of chicken (skinless); salmon; tuna etc. and most vegetables.

Thanks a lot

weight loss cardiff answers:

Well i would stick to home made chicken grill (without skin) salad , fruits , whole grain (but not as much) fish, and steamed vegetables. Also try tofu they come in variety of flavors. The fruit i would recommend is pineapple it really helps you brake down other foods in your stomach since its a strong acid fruit. Hope that helped.

James asks…

Diet recipes?

I need some help and advice…I want to stop eating out so much and would like some recipes or some ideas on some meals I can make at home…not only healthier for me, but to help me lose weight. I know that boneless/skinless chicken is best, and of course fish, but how are some ways you can cook these and some seasoning to make them better? I’m not the most talented at cooking so I need some advice. Thanks

weight loss cardiff answers:

Good for you working to get healthy! You’ll also find that you save money in the longrun and develop a better appreciation for food in general.

Boneless/skinless chicken and fish are both excellent choices, but sometimes a lean piece of pork has even less fat than the chicken, and you don’t have to cut all red meat out of your diet unless your cholesterol is way off the charts. Variety is important to a healthy diet, too.

In general, if you can bake, poach, saute, or steam something, then it’s going to be better for you than frying. But sometimes a bit of frying is fine. Just don’t do the deep-fat thing and stick with oils like olive, sunflower, and various nut oils rather than large amounts of butter, shortening or lard. These help you get enough healthy fats to help keep you heart healthy and balance your cholesterol so you have more HDL (healthy) and less LDL (unhealthy) in your system.

With most fruits and vegetables, the less you cook them, the healthier they are. This is great news for unskilled cooks, because it means a raw salad is actually better for you than a cooked vegetable you’re not sure you know how to cook.

For flavor, turn to herbs, spices, flavored vinegars, citrus juices, cooking with wine. All of these add flavor without adding much in the way of fat, cholesterol, calories, or sodium. Oh, and the fresher the herbs the better. If you have a green thumb you can grow the ones you like to use a lot right in your kitchen in little pots.

Keep in mind that if something smells good, it usually tastes good. If it smells bad, it usually tastes bad. The sense of smell and the sense of taste are very closely related. So when choosing fruits, sniff them. If that peach doesn’t smell like a peach, it won’t taste like one, either. When you’re about to add a seasoning to a pot, smell the seasoning, then smell the pot – or vice versa; it can go in either order – and decide if they smell good together. If they do, fire away! If not, put the seasoning down.

Here are a couple websites with good, tasty, healthy recipes for you. Many of them are very easy to make as well.

http://www.cookinglight.com/cooking/

That second one is the website for Cooking Light magazine. If you’re looking to learn to cook, eat and live in a healthier way, I highly recommend getting a subscription. They have regular articles on easy cooking, the latest news on nutrition, simple exercise programs you can follow at home, and how to lighten up old favorite recipes so they’re just as tasty but don’t weigh you down.

Good luck to you! Once you learn your way around a kitchen, it’s amazing how much fun it can be to plan and cook healthy meals.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Sandra asks…

How to lose weight while pregnant?

I need to lose at least 30lbs before delivery for both mine and the baby’s benefit. Doc says its okay for a woman my size to lose weight while pregnant because I’ve got enough fat stores to fulfil the baby’s caloric needs. I’m due 11/7 so I’m 6 weeks.
Oh, also I was in the process of losing weight until I found out I’m pregnant. I was using medifast(can’t continue because ketosis harms the fetus)now, that I’ve stopped using medifast, I’ve already picked up 4lbs! How do I reverse this gain and continue going DOWN the scale?
Thanks everyone!

weight loss cardiff answers:

I’m in my fourth month of pregnancy. I don’t know my weight for certain, but I think I’ve stayed steady. My pre-pregnancy clothes still fit, and despite the baby pudge in my abdomin and my bigger breasts, I don’t notice much difference. (Well, one of my bras doesn’t fit anymore, but others do and I have some bigger ones from when I was bigger that work, too. However, my other bras still fit, especially since one has stretchy cups that I wear under tank tops which I wear under blouses.)

Even before my pregnacny, I stuck with whole natural foods, eating them as close as to what God made them. It’s not only good for me, but good for my baby as well. I didn’t get in the habit of using the treadmill. (It broke before the 30 days return expired, so my husbnad returned it. It worked out. It’s more or less spring so I’ll start outdoor walking again and the money turned out to be needed for repairs on my husband’s car. As I told my husband when he made the comment about the money, God blesses how God sees fit. I digress.)

I also stay away from most processed, pre-made food. Exceptions include my veggie burgers and chick’n; The whole wheat bread that’s in the fridge (I should make some more, but I was sick last week and we were out so we picked some up at the store; I buy the light kind where the corn syrup listing is lower on the list) cold cereal (that I have with vanilla soy milk) and some canned foods, like the Progresso soup. (It’s healthier than Campbell’s, no corn syrup, and it tastes better. It’s great for lunches or dinners when I have no energy or desire to cook.) I also have canisters of quick oats, but it’s just oats that are lightly processed (over regular oats) so they cook quicker. (Instant oatmeal is more processed and has stuff added to it for the flavorings an preservatives and is more expensive anyway.)

I don’t eat meat or dairy or eggs and I generally stay away from fried foods, unless I know it’s natural, i.e., stir fry.

If your doctor is agreeable to you losing weight, then talk with him/her. S/He will have suggestions. Also, there are some pregnancy boards (iVillage comes to mind) where you can also talk with other moms who would have suggestions. Also, post this on the pregnancy Answers section and request site links, too.

Anyway, I hope I’ve been of some help.

Nancy asks…

What is the safest and healthiest way to lose weight while pregnant?

A person who is a 100 lbs overweight who needs to lose weight for health reasons just found out she is pregnant. Is there anyway to eat healthy and continue losing weight while pregnant?

weight loss cardiff answers:

You need to discuss this with your doctor. Dieting is not recommended during pregnancy. You’ll have plenty of time to shed the extra pounds after the baby is born. I would suggest reading The Schwarzbein Principle and The Schwarzbein Principle Cookbook. You can eat delicious nutritious meals and lose weight and it may be something your doctor will approve of during your pregnancy to keep from gaining excessive weight. Yoga, with your doctor’s approval can be helpful too. You want to give your baby the best start you can and maintain your health as well. It will all be worth it when you hold your new bundle of joy for the first time! You may find the following website helpful:

David asks…

Is it safe to lose weight while pregnant in your first trimester?

I just found out I am pregnant with #2!!!! We are very excited about this! However, I am worried about being a bit overweight and carrying a pregnancy. Is it safe to purposely lose weight while pregnant in your first trimester? TIA!!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Its definitley not recommended to go on a diet or deliberatley lose weight while pregnant. You need to take in extra calories (about 300 more a day) for nutrition for your baby and for you while your body is going through this serious transformation. Wait until after the baby is here to worry about your weight issues.
