Just eating healthy isnt specific enough, Watch the amount of calories and carbs you take in specifically. If you dont give your body what it needs to gain weight, it cant. Water only is a very good point. On top of biking you should also do some ab workouts, like crunches and oblique crunches, along with some jogging or running up and down stairs.

3lbs in a week isn’t that hard to do. Most of our bodies weight is water. If you do cardio work for an hour a day along with stretching and healthy eating, this should be a very attainable goal.

Our bodies digest carbohydrates for the first 15 minutes of a workout then fats for the next 45 minutes. This gives us an hour, at a cardiovacular rate, that we are burning off unwanted materials from our bodies.

Your diet for the week shouldn’t be filled with lots of fruits, since some fruits are high in sugars. A healthy amount of these is needed, however, to promoted the lean muscle to keep off the weight. Turkey, chicken, and poultry will add protein which will make you gain muscle mass. Fish is a healthy source of protein that has a low fat content. Try to adjust what you eat, stay away from soda, carbonated drinks of all type and even coffee.

How can I lose weight fast and effectively, without getting discouraged so easily?

I need to get my motivation up instead of letting my depression get to me. I have only gained 6 pounds in 2 months but I feel it. I need to lose about 30 lbs to be at normal weight. Please help me. First you have to look at what you are eating and drinking. Here are a few tips:
1) If you are drinking full calorie soda switch to diet. I know someone who lost 20lbs in time this way.

2) don’t eat right before you go to bed. Your body is going into shut-down mode so and tends to move the calories into storage aka fat

3) Watch what you snack on. If you snack on chips or high starch foods try switching to fruits and vegetables instead the don’t pack as much calories and are healthier.

4) Don’t or cut your meat intake when i became vegetarian the pounds just flew off of me.

5) try to eat 5 small meals during the course of the day instead of three big ones. It’s easier to digest and makes you feel like you are eating more.

6) make sure your not taking any medications that could have the side effect of weight gain. If it does at least you know what you are fighting against.

7) Find an excesses buddy. Studies have shown that if you have someone to work out with you form a symbiotic relation ship that leads to success.

8) Always choose stairs over the elevator. Creeping in more activities in the day really helps in the long run.

9) Find your weakness. If you are a sucker for ice cream stop buying it. If the temptation isn’t there you can’t give in.

10) don’t be a scale bunny. Determine your progress by how well you feel not what the number reads. If you making good progress you will feel it in your clothes.

Eat healthy – don’t cut the calories too much, but do eat a smaller amount. Eat fruits and veggies, lean meats, and whole grains (100% whole wheat bread instead of white, brown rice, etc.)

Drink water – cut out the soda/pop. Try to get 8 cups (measuring cups – 8 ounces) of water each day.

Couple a healthy diet with cardio workouts – 3-5 days a week, 20-30 minutes per session to start. You can walk, jog, bike, play basketball, do aerobics… Whatever you enjoy doing that gets your heart rate up. You don’t have to work out so hard that you feel like you’re dying – work out to the point that you can talk fairly easily, but not jabber on and on. 🙂

Do strength exercises to build muscle (yep, I’m suggesting this). Building muscle helps you lose fat even faster by speeding up your metabolism. Sit ups, push ups, squats, lunges… All these will help.

Why has my weight loss seemed to slow down?

I’ve lost about 25 Lbs since the first of the year (average about 2 Lbs a week) I’m still losing but now it seems that the losing has slowed down, I’ve only dropped about 3 or 4 pounds in the last few weeks. I eat about 1500 calories a day on average which is well below the point to lose weight according to the BMI and weight loss calculators I’ve used on MSN’s site. I’m a 48 year old man and I have a job that includes some physical work, ie: climbing in and out of trucks, lots of stair climbing and moving heavy freight part of the day. I don’t really want to cut my calorie intake to any less than 1500 a day. Any thoughts from anyone else in the same situation ? Am I on the right track and just getting impatient ? Thanks everyboby.

You must be reaching what is called a “weight loss plateau”.

The lower one weighs the less calories required. This is why you lost weight at first at a quicker pace. To counteract this, you should diet for shorter amounts. Aim to maintain your weight. And then restart your diet. It should counteract the plateau.

The weightloss will occur over a longer period of time and it will take a longer time to get to your goal but it saves you from having to cut out more and more calories in the long run.

My height is 5 feet 8/9 inches
My weight is 13.5 stones/ thats 85 kg 187 pounds

According to the body mass bmi calculator i need to lose:
2.2 stones ( 13 kg)

then i would be 11.3 stones

is this correct?

i mean our bodies also carry water.

When is the best time to stop eating in the evening and also i find it hard to give up tea, i always drink tea without sugar.

Burning fat is easiest on an emoty stmach in teh morning what can i do in my bedroom to burn fat ?

I can do 30 pushups, 3 sets, what else?

BMI is so inaccurate I do not advice it whatsoever. My friend is six foot and muscular and very lean he weighs about 15 st according to his BMI he is very overweight but his body fat is about 12% off season so get your body fat done by a reliable set of calipers .
