What a healthy amount of weight to lose in a week or month?

I’m a 22 year old female and want to lose weight over the course of this year. I intend on improving my eating habits as well as do daily cardio. I will be be keeping track of my daily calorie intake as well as tracking my weight every week. I don’t want to over work my body, don’t want to lose too much weight in such a short time, nor not push myself hard enough to burn the fat. What is considered a healthy amount of weight to lose a week or in a month?

If you go extreme id say 15 pounds in a month. But if your just doing a normal cut then probly 5-8 pounds in a month. Eat a -500 calorie deficit every day from your normal calorie intake

Like what the others have already said 900-1000 calories is VERY low. Also 1 week is not a lot of time and much of what you lose will be water weight.

But if you really need to know, according to the calculator below you will lose around 3 pounds

If its around your torso (stomach and moobs) do mad sit ups and push ups, i saw results in like 5 days.
Eat right and do some cardio, jumping jacks are good for cardio if you dont like to run

I’ve been doing Weight Watchers for four weeks. I lost a lot less weight this week, but did nothing different in my dieting.

I heard this happens in the 4th week. Is this true? Will I go back to losing more next week?

1. First start by getting up earlier than usual. Around 5:30 AM to do some of you workouts. Getting up early shocks your metabolism because the body needs more energy to get going. Right? This will start your system on the road to weight loss. That early start with about 10 minutes of stretching. Have a cup of coffee to get the blood going also.

2. Do all the sit-ups you can. Just do them. 15 or 20 whatever, we don’t have a lot of time to work with. Rest 1 minute repeat, do this for 6 sets. Already you are breathing hard and feel worn, because the body is working extra hard at being up earlier and then going right into exercise. If the early morning hour lets you get your cardio in, go ahead and do it. 30 minutes.

3. Diet. Cut all current meal portions in half, just cut them in half, nothing fancy or complicated, CUT IN HALF! Cut out all bread products, all gravies, candies, chips, night snacks, etc. If you crave at night eat a banana, other fruit or best a non-fat yogurt. There are some tasty ones out there.

4. In the evening do another 6 sets of sit-ups maxing out each set. Cardio again. The trick is to stay with getting up earlier. Yes it’s hard, that’s why it is so effective. Why do you think the Army gets up so early, it is intense training to the max.

this is a dumb question but i just HAVE to know. are teens )ages 12-15) supposed to be on diets? i hear both sides, one thats its ok to be on a diet as long as you get enough nutrition, and others say you’re not because it’ll mess up your growth. all i wanna be is skinny but my mom says i dont need to lose weight (long long long story short, i was bulimic. i loss wieght but i wasnt really, just looked leaner and more toned) and so yes, are “growing bodies” alright to be on diets???

You can eat foods with lots of calories such as rice and chicken. Just eat 3 meals a day without snacks in between. My grandma makes food with lots of calories, but she doesn’t eat snacks. Therefore, she is THIN. If you follow my advice, you will be thin in no time!

Let me show you what worked for me. No long winded speeches, no fad diet nonsense here. Eat what you like. Just keep it to1200 calories a day (healthier is better obviously) and sweat and I mean SWEAT!! For 30-40 minutes a day 6-7 days a week (60 minutes if you can manage it). Remember the more you sweat the more you can add to your eating plan. Write down everything you eat with calorie content. This will give you an overall look at where you need to make changes. Don’t eat after 6 pm ever. Don’t cheat, you’re only fooling yourself and don’t skip workouts. You should be losing about between 2-3 pounds a week, which is a healthy rate without starving yourself…Good luck!

I’m trying to do research about obesity and dieting habits in America. A lot of the diets I am seeing are pretty brutal. What are the craziest diets you have taken? Do you know anyone who has jeopardized their health from dieting? And what extremes have you gone to?

People that do only the one part of the master cleanse. I.e. Distilled water, lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper. When they do it for more than 3 days, it can be very unhealthy since your body isn’t getting minerals like sodium and potassium which are pretty much necessary for your heart to beat!!

I had a friend who did this for 10 days and he lost weight alright, he lost muscle!! He also had decreased brain function….

I really want to lose about 10-15 pounds in about a month or so. I’ve always wanted to try fad diets and decided that I think this might be the right time to do it so I can lose some belly fat before swimsuit season. Anyone have any diets that they think might work? Of course i’m also going to be exercising but need some tips on what to eat.

Fad diets don’t work on the long term, if they did, you’ll see them everywhere. High chances are that if you do lose 10 – 15 pounds in a month, you’ll likely gain it back very quickly. A regular diet is your best choice. Eating junk foods once in a while is fine, majority of the time you want to eat the foods you know you should be eating, in other words more cooking, less buying microwavable junk.

Diets that involve either packaged meals or ways to eat, like Nutrisystem. I want people to only speak from experience here. I know Nutrisystem seems great but the food like really disgusting and I would not eat it everyday. I don’t want to know about Weight Watchers either. I exericse regularly but I need a good eating pattern. Not looking to be told to eat plenty of vegetables and acai berries. Looking for input on fad meal planning diets. Thanks!

Depending on how bad it is, aquatic aerobics. How serious are you for wrestling if your a senior and HAVE to do well for college scouts then call up a doctor. Just don’t take any of those BS pills. Also INSANE diet. Go organic and NO junk food at all.

I dont exercise as much as I used to, let alone I have not in the past 5 days. Im taking about 20-24 grams of dietary fiber a day. I seem to be losing weight without much effort. Could it be that this is all I needed to lose weight? I know very well about vitamins, psychical fitness etc. A serious question, I hope this information will benefit others also whos bodies are just different.

I am a female getting at least 12.5 grams of soluble dietary fiber a day and yes I am losing weight too.

Is it possible to lose weight without exercise?

Im trying to lose weight. My question is, is it possible to lose weight without exercise? I know if I eat healthier, like without breads,pasta,sugar,salt,things like that, i should really see weight lost. But, another problem is, is that at school they don’t really serve anything healthy. Only thing in the snack line is croissant sandwiches meals or salads. Most of the time the only thing left are croissant sandwiches because the salads are gone. In the croissant sandwich meals their are the croissant sandwich,orange,and baked doritos. Is that healthy enough?

Try eating more veggies and less baked goods (breads/croissants). Definitely cut out the Doritos and replace with a small bag of carrots or something. Bring food from home if you have to. Eating healthy meals will make all the difference.

I would say bring 2 or 3 small bags of cut veggies to school with you as snacks. When you get hungry snack on these instead of chips.

I’ve tried exercise videos, crunches, running,….but i never have enough time to keep in shape because of school and homework and stuff. I’m always too busy to put aside time to exercise. Is there a way I can lose weight without exercise?

Cut your calories down to 1200 or so. The general exercise from walking class to class and auto immune functions should burn off a little more than that a day.
If you wear ankle weights (you can get ’em at walmart) during the day, you can burn more. Note that this is pretty slow way of losing weight, but its better than nothing 🙂
oh. And try alli. It really helps. Make sure you read the warnings and recomendations for taking alli before you start it.

Before you all tell me that the only way to lose weight sensibly is to exercise I know it is. But I recently tore me acl so cardio activity is completely out of the question. I’ve tried eating a sensible diet of 3 set meals a day all of which are very sensible (morning:special k lunch:fruit salad dinner:pasta bake just as an example) and I’m still putting weight on because of the lack of exercise.What have people personally found the best way to lose weight quickly without exercise?

One of my friends has has lost 70 lbs in 6 months after she quit drinking and started swimming everyday… It’s not really exercise for her since she enjoys it.

My sister lost 100 lbs after she finished college by doing weight watchers and running… But she gained it all back. She has always been a really bad emotional eater.

Nutrisystem – 30 pounds! Size 12 to a size 8!

It’s a no brainer and that’s what I needed. Food’s not the greatest but it’s quick and I don’t have to think.

My husband did a medical diet (Optifast) and lost 80 pounds. His situation was much more drastic than mine. I just wasn’t happy about being a size 12.
