John asks…

sonoma diet?

Is the Sonoma Diet a good diet to try?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Yes the Sonoam diet is a good safe and healthy diet program.

The Sonoma Diet was invented by Connie Guttersen. The Snoma ddiet is a low-carbohydrate diet / low sugar diet. The core of the diet plan is eating approved “power foods” that are healthy and intensely flavorful. Another key concept behind the diet program is managing portion sizes and eating approved foods.

The 10 power foods are: Almond, Bell peppers,Broccoli, Blueberries, Grapes, Olive oil, Spinach, Strawberries, Tomatoes and Whole grains.

The Sonoma Diet has three phases also called waves. The first phase lasts 10 days and is the most restrictive phase, allowing the smallest number of foods and the smallest portion sizes. During this phase carbohydrate and sugar consumption is greatly reduced. In the second phase a wider variety of foods are allowed. You remain in Phase two until you achieve your target weight. Phase three is the maintenance stage and you are allowed to eat a wider variety of foods.

More info on the Sonoma Diet can be found here:

It is a time-honored tradition to make resolutions at this time of year. If your resolution is to lose weight – and keep it off, then keep reading! Here are six simple tips that will have you losing weight in a balanced and healthy way.

1. Lose weight with water.
Water is essential for everybody – it is also the key to losing weight. If you haven’t been drinking enough water, your body has developed a pattern of storing water. This water retention equals extra unwanted weight.

By drinking more water, you are not only flushing out toxins, you are also teaching your body that it no longer needs to store water. Drink at least 60 ounces of water (about 8 glasses) a day. Boil water and sliced lemons, and drink this throughout the day to help with fluid retention. If you are still not sold on the merits of water, try this on for size: water is a natural appetite suppressant.

2. Soup up your weight loss program.
A simple dietary change will have you shedding pounds: eat a bowl of soup at least once a day. Nutritious, low-salt soups will nourish you as they flush waste from your body. People who eat a serving of soup daily lose more weight than those who eat the same amount of calories but don’t eat soup. Go for homemade soup whenever possible, as canned soups are loaded with salt and chemicals.

3. Eat early to keep weight off.
The human body follows a circadian rhythm, which means that the same foods eaten at breakfast and lunch are processed differently than when eaten at dinner. Studies show that when you eat your daily protein and fat at breakfast you tend to lose weight and have more energy; however, eating the same things at dinner tend to increase tendencies toward weight gain. I suggest that you eat your last meal of the day by 7 p.m.

4. Eat smaller meals, more frequently.
Follow an eating schedule with five little meals every day. Eating steadily through the day keeps you from becoming famished and overeating at your next meal. Make a low-fat trail mix from raw almonds, pumpkin seeds, dried plum, and apples and have it available at all times to avoid the tempting lure of high-calorie snacks.

5. Adopt a balanced approach to your diet.
Most of the fad diet programs out there nowadays are extreme in a few recommended foods, or else deprive the body of food altogether. This works in opposition to our metabolism and the results usually don’t last, producing a yoyo effect that depresses your metabolic function – not to mention your self-esteem. We are natural beings that need a balance of nutrition from all sources.

Your diet should consist of a balance of organic sources of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, legumes, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. Instead of white rice and pasta, opt for brown rice, bulgur, millet, or buckwheat.

Eat more green, chlorophyll-rich foods such as broccoli, kale, spinach, and asparagus. Eliminate candy, sugar, soda, and all simple sugars from your diet. Excess sugar ends up being stored as fat in your body, which results in weight gain. Also, keep dairy to a minimum because most dairy products are high in saturated fat. Avoid fatty foods, processed or fried foods.

6. Walk off the weight.
The No. 1 cause of weight gain is inactivity. Physical activity is the key to speeding up your metabolism and burning excess calories. The best way to be physically active is to use your legs! Walk as often and as long as you can. Always take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Step outside during your break at work and take a walk around your building. Consider joining a local hiking club. Try taking a walk 30 minutes in the morning or 30 minutes in the early evening.

I hope this article helps you shed some pounds and add on the years! I invite you to visit often and share your own personal health and longevity tips with me.

May you live long, live strong, and live happy!

Nancy asks…

How can I lose weight in 2 weeks?

I want to lose as much weight as I can!

weight loss cardiff answers:

There is no “Cure” for excess weight, and if you do lose weight in 2 weeks, that would probably be all water weight, which is very risky because you will be very dehydrated. Losing weight is a process and not a one stop ride. It will take you about how long it took you to gain it to lose it.

Richard asks…

How to lose weight in 2 weeks?

How do I lose alot of weight in two weeks?….If so how much weight would I lose??

weight loss cardiff answers:

You can EASILY lose 5 pounds in a week with this plan, this is what you got to do:

1) Eat ANY kind of food that are low or very low in Calories, Sodium, Carbs, and Fat, and if you really serious, low in Sugar too, ALL at once, don’t just look for 1 or 2 of these things, you have to know all the nutrition of the food you eat from now on. If your totally serious about weight loss, only eat bread for breakfast, (High fiber bread) and thats it for the rest of the day.

2) Drink lots of water, That’s horrible to read I know, I hate it too cause I see it all the time, BUT, you need to do it because then you get rid of your water weight problem and then the weight you lose you KNOW is not water, but fat, thats what you want.

3) You want to stay away from Sodium because that will store water and really make you gain water weight, so low sodium always and never add salt to the food you eat.

4) NO SODA! Not even diet, if you HAVE to drink soda then fine drink diet, but look at the label even diet soda’s have sodium and if your putting down a lot of soda then your drinking lots of sodium (WATER WEIGHT!)

5) Eat at least 4 mini meals a day, 2-3 hours apart. If you can find a appetite supplement that WORKS for you, then awesome, if not water will do just fine, just drink a lot and make sure its cold water. You’ll have to piss all the freakin’ time but thats good, your getting rid of excess water, thats what you want, trust me.

6) Eat no later then 8 pm. If possible, 7 pm would be even better. It’s OK to feel a little hungry before you go to bed.

7) Include exercise, nothing really extreme. For example, walk up the steepest hill you know of 4 times and if you can jog it. Have a mini trampoline? Jump high on it while watching your favortie tv show. OR just stay active in whatever you do. Have to buy groceries or your craving a jamba juice, then WALK there! Walk everywhere, jog there, just stay active, that works too.

Stick with this and you’ll definetly lose 5 pounds if not more. Probably more.

Good luck! Email me if you want to talk more.

Nancy asks…

Losing weight???

i am 5’7″ and weigh 10 stone (also im 19 yr old female) i want to get down to 8 stone….. a few questions:

will 8 stone be too skinny? im slim now but want to lose some weight

and what is the quickest way to lose weight?

thanks guys
whats the ideal weight for my height??

weight loss cardiff answers:

Check your bmi http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/magazine/interactive/bmi/index.aspx

first off – if you are thin – & your height/weight sounds proportionate to me – losing 2 stone would be mad!! I am 2 inches shorter than you and weigh 9st 9 & am a size 8-10.

To maintain your current weight you should eat 2000kcals per day. So to lose weight you need to restrict this to 1500kcals. But make sure you eat no less than 1500kcals as this will slow your metabolism & you won’t lose anything.
If you are restricting your diet it’s also a good idea to take a multivitamin to ensure you are getting all your vital nutrients.

If you cut your cals back to 1500 per day & do exercise 2-3 times per week you will lose 1-3lbs per week easily.

Drink plently of water, try & increase the amount of fruit & veg you eat & swap white bread for brown bread, full cream milk to skimmed milk etc.

Personally i don’t think you need to lose anything – you might just need to tone up what you have already – i would recommend a class called body pump – this uses weights to tone you up & burn lots of calories (www.lesmills.com) – give your local gym a call to see if they run it. I did this class twice a week & could see big difference fast!!

Donald asks…

Losing Weight?

how can i lose weight off my face easily

weight loss cardiff answers:

Not everyone can get plastic surgery.
It’s expensive and not every one is over age.
I honestly think though losing weight off your face comes with losing weight everywhere.
Notice how someone you havn’t seen in a loooong time loses ALOT of weight from their face and all?
Doubt they did face exercises, because i don’t think their is such a thing.
I may be wrong.
But I have just never heard of such a thing:)

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Paul asks…

What’s the jiff with the Diet of Worms :).?

What does the title mean?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Lol
[supremely bad mental image involving peanut butter]

Diet is an odd word for council and Worms was the location.

Betty asks…

Can meal worms with calcium be a diet?

I’m honestly frightened by crickets and I made a post before about crickets and I got a lot of answers about meal worms and all sorts of worms as a diet, would calcium make them more nutritious for my adult male blizzard leopard gecko?

weight loss cardiff answers:

How do you feel about locusts? How about dubia roaches? Worms alone are not a suitable diet, in my opinion. Locusts are slow moving, don’t bite or smell (unlike crickets) and are generally a lot easier to handle. They can make good altnerative to crickets. I hate crickets too I never have them in my house, so I feed my chameleon locusts as a base diet, with calcium worms (AKA phoenix worms), morio worms and the occasional butterworm or waxworm as a treat. But I would say feeding mealworms alone is asking for trouble. Mealworms are not necessarily as bad as people make out, however they are not suitable as a lone feeder insect in my opinion.

Also, you should be dusting your geckos food with calcium and mineral supplement once or twice a week anyway, regardless of what you are feeding.

Lizzie asks…

my kitten has worms??

my kitten just puked some worms. around 3 roundworms and another type which i think is tapeworms. i de-wormed him last month.
what is causing it?
he was on a cooked chicken diet, but he just changed to a cooked fish diet yesterday. i dont think it is his food because i never feed him raw. i think it is his water because i always find mosquitoes or other insects breeding in his water, and there are many eggs. i change his water up to 3 times a day, but there are always still flies.
any opinions on how he got the worms?
i already fed him another deworming pill, but is that all i need to do? is the deworming stuff only for preventing it? what do i do now?

weight loss cardiff answers:

The stuff you can buy over the counter is usually just for roundworms. The only tape worm meds you can buy now are called Tape Worm Tabs available at some pet stores; otherwise for the longest time you could only get them from a vet. So make sure you use an actual tapeworm dewormer that is either from your vet, or are Tape Worm Tabs as other dewormers don’t cover them..
Plus, know that it’s common for kittens to pass worms in their stool/puke after being dewormed, they’ve got to get out of the body somehow and not all are digested. But that’s usually just within a couple days. After a month I would be concerned that he’s being re-infested. And how many times had he been dewormed in the past? Many times it’s recommended that kittens be dewormed 2 to 3 times before they turn 12 weeks.
Also- if you have fleas that can contribute to a re-infestation of tapeworm just as quickly as it takes you to treat it. Try mixing up a neem oil dilute spray to take care of the fleas, it’s natural and works great at repelling insects.

Edit: it scares me how much false info I’m reading here! Why would you get rid of a cat because of worms- kittens are BORN with worms from their mother’s milk- it’s NORMAL to have to treat them. I would never advise anyone NOT to take their kitten to a vet if they felt more comfortable doing that; but it kind of scares me that some people would follow the advice of people who seem really uneducated on the topic! Roundworms are VERY common in kittens.. In SEVERE cases they can cause problems but it’s almost always treatable. I would just make sure to read the guidelines on what you’re using to deworm her and double check you have something that’s actually for tapeworm. And don’t believe people who freak out saying it’s going to die immediately or that you have to get rid of it. I’m sorry but that’s just ridiculous.

EDIT AGAIN- Please know, PINWORMS are NOT found in cats/dogs. “Tapeworms and pinworms look very similar. However, contrary to popular belief, pinworms do not infect cats or dogs. Any worm segments seen associated with cats are due to tapeworms. Children who get pinworms do not get them from cats or dogs..”
