I’m honestly frightened by crickets and I made a post before about crickets and I got a lot of answers about meal worms and all sorts of worms as a diet, would calcium make them more nutritious for my adult male blizzard leopard gecko?

How do you feel about locusts? How about dubia roaches? Worms alone are not a suitable diet, in my opinion. Locusts are slow moving, don’t bite or smell (unlike crickets) and are generally a lot easier to handle. They can make good altnerative to crickets. I hate crickets too I never have them in my house, so I feed my chameleon locusts as a base diet, with calcium worms (AKA phoenix worms), morio worms and the occasional butterworm or waxworm as a treat. But I would say feeding mealworms alone is asking for trouble. Mealworms are not necessarily as bad as people make out, however they are not suitable as a lone feeder insect in my opinion.

Also, you should be dusting your geckos food with calcium and mineral supplement once or twice a week anyway, regardless of what you are feeding.

my kitten has worms??

my kitten just puked some worms. around 3 roundworms and another type which i think is tapeworms. i de-wormed him last month.
what is causing it?
he was on a cooked chicken diet, but he just changed to a cooked fish diet yesterday. i dont think it is his food because i never feed him raw. i think it is his water because i always find mosquitoes or other insects breeding in his water, and there are many eggs. i change his water up to 3 times a day, but there are always still flies.
any opinions on how he got the worms?
i already fed him another deworming pill, but is that all i need to do? is the deworming stuff only for preventing it? what do i do now?

The stuff you can buy over the counter is usually just for roundworms. The only tape worm meds you can buy now are called Tape Worm Tabs available at some pet stores; otherwise for the longest time you could only get them from a vet. So make sure you use an actual tapeworm dewormer that is either from your vet, or are Tape Worm Tabs as other dewormers don’t cover them..
Plus, know that it’s common for kittens to pass worms in their stool/puke after being dewormed, they’ve got to get out of the body somehow and not all are digested. But that’s usually just within a couple days. After a month I would be concerned that he’s being re-infested. And how many times had he been dewormed in the past? Many times it’s recommended that kittens be dewormed 2 to 3 times before they turn 12 weeks.
Also- if you have fleas that can contribute to a re-infestation of tapeworm just as quickly as it takes you to treat it. Try mixing up a neem oil dilute spray to take care of the fleas, it’s natural and works great at repelling insects.

Edit: it scares me how much false info I’m reading here! Why would you get rid of a cat because of worms- kittens are BORN with worms from their mother’s milk- it’s NORMAL to have to treat them. I would never advise anyone NOT to take their kitten to a vet if they felt more comfortable doing that; but it kind of scares me that some people would follow the advice of people who seem really uneducated on the topic! Roundworms are VERY common in kittens.. In SEVERE cases they can cause problems but it’s almost always treatable. I would just make sure to read the guidelines on what you’re using to deworm her and double check you have something that’s actually for tapeworm. And don’t believe people who freak out saying it’s going to die immediately or that you have to get rid of it. I’m sorry but that’s just ridiculous.

EDIT AGAIN- Please know, PINWORMS are NOT found in cats/dogs. “Tapeworms and pinworms look very similar. However, contrary to popular belief, pinworms do not infect cats or dogs. Any worm segments seen associated with cats are due to tapeworms. Children who get pinworms do not get them from cats or dogs..”

Can i lose weight if i only eat 800 calories a day for only 3 days?

I want to lose weight. I’m 16 and about 147 pounds and im going on a beach trip in april and i want to lose weigth FAST! I found this thing called the 3 day diet which has you eat about 800 calories a day for only 3 days, and then requires 4 day of regular eating before you start the diet again. Problem is, my mom doesnt want to let me buy the stuff i need to do the 3 day diet. i want to do the 3 day diet with just different different foods. im thinking of just doing the 800 calories a day for 3 day with 4 days of regular eating but i wonder if it will work if i dont use the same foods as the 3 day diet…What do you think? Will it still work? should i do less calories?

Hey Leah, in short this diet is nothing short of ridiculous. It may seem like a good idea, but you will do you’re body far more harm than good.

Eating 800 calories will warn the body to go into starvation mode, which means it will store any new food as fat, meaning you might be losing some weight but you could still have the same fat. You’re metabolism will shut down so any change I.e 4 normal days of eating will completely confuse it. You’ll be tired, grumpy and will have frequent mood – swings – not pleasant.

Also, crash dieting for a holiday is a bad idea generally, because dieting isn’t a short term fix, trust me I know from experience. You are young so the body is still developing, you can’t restrict it with basically no calories! Try 1300-1500 calories if you must count them, or just stick to a balanced diet and exercise.

You are only young, so for goodness sake enjoy food (but not to excess) and enjoy the holiday!

Is running 3 days a week enough cardio to lose weight?

I want my program to be something similar to what we did in military basic training. There, we ran MWF and did muscle strength exercises TThS. I lost a lot of weight in basic training. Granted, we were constantly moving even not in organized exercise time. And we were eating 3 meals a day and never in between meals and were drinking lots of water. I know I’m going to have to be sensible with eating, but I can’t handle a strict diet. If I starting working out 6 days a week, alternating 3 days cardio and 3 days strength will it be enough to lose some weight and maintain the weight. Let’s say I do that and don’t change what I eat, don’t eat anymore than usual.

I suppose it would be good to run everyday, but I hate to do the same thing on consecutive days. We didn’t in basic training, and it worked. I got into the best shape of my life. Any suggestions? I’m so tired of being overweight.

Day 1:

If you really want to lose wight and fat then you should remember and do this:

EVERYDAY RUN (WALK) + L-Carnitine + TAKE LESS CALORIES + LIPO-6 = 100% SUCCESS

2) run every 2 days for at least ~30 minutes or/and walk every day at least 5 km!

At your age its fine to loose weight because you are active.that might be fat lost and it depends do you take regular walks ? That can be one of the reasons if the answer is yes .i don’t think if there is any reason to be alarmed.

I’m 15 and all my life I have been stick thin and I have been able to eat what I want without gaining weight. This year I have gained a few pounds and I’m starting to feel insecure about it. Some of my clothes are getting a little snug and I can no longer wear a size 0. How can I get my body back to how it was easily. I wear a size 3 or 5 in juniors now (They don’t make a 4) (it goes like 0,3,5). Most of my family members naturally thin too. My dad is 5’10 and weight 130 pounds. I weigh like 126 now. You have to start exercising if you really want to lose weight.
Go on youtube and search up Blogilates. I’ve been exercising with her for about a month now, and I already see results 🙂

For the diet, cut down on meat, but only eat lean meat, fish, and lots of greens.
Fruits and veggies are a good source of vitamins! Try to stay away from the junk food, keep it somewhere you do not want to go. I promise you, if you keep this up, you will start seeing your body change.
It depends how much weight you are to lose, if you slack off on a lot of exercising, you might only lose a pound or two. But if you really stay focused and do the job, you will be losing much more weight!

To lose the weight, you need to eat less calories and start exercising. DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF!!!
For exercise, do three to four sessions a week, 20 minutes at a time, of intense jogging, running, the Stairmaster, the elliptical, jumping rope, or biking should be enough to get the process in gear. Swimming, hiking, and taking aerobics classes are beneficial as well.

Nothing beats jogging or running. It’s the most intense, efficient, and effective method of burning calories. If running outside hurts your joints, try running inside on a treadmill or outside on a dirt path.

Again, you NEED three to four intense cardio sessions a week, at least 20 minutes a session, to help create a calorie deficit and help rid the body of the fat.

Also do at least ten minutes a day of strength training.

In terms of diet, you need to have 50 percent of your calories come from protein, 40 percent carbs, 10 percent fats. Cut calories gradually.
