Best affordable diet cat food?

My cat is really over weight, we feed him maybe 2/3rd cups 2 times a day. I try to play with him daily but he plays for about 10 minutes then he doesn’t seem interested anymore lol. What is the best diet food i can get without a prescription?

The best food you can feed him is a species appropriate diet. He is a carnivore, so he needs meat as the primary ingredient in his food. Look at what you are feeding him and my guess is the first ingredient is corn. And you don’t need the ‘prescription’ diets. They cost a fortune and are not any healthier for kitty, just healthier for the vet’s bank account.

The best sources of meat is in wet food. Even the worse wet food is better than the best of the dry foods. And since kitties are not big water drinkers, the wet food gives him the added moisture to keep his system moving.

I need a good healthy food diet to help me lose weight on my hips. I have decided to run for 30mins a day after school and aswell do heaps of fitness stuff at school. What is good for a daily menu? well first off,u shouldnt diet…diets dont work and u have 2 make a life style change and never starve urself or go below 1600 calories…just eat healthy!!!!!! And please never starve urself!
U should never feel hungry and ignore it…eat when u are hungry! Find foods that u enjoy eating that are healthy! Dont eat foods u hate just cuz u think u “should” cuz its the “right” food to eat….then u will always be motivated to just be healthy…not diet!…and its ok to eat cakes and chips and other “junk” foods!!! Just as long as u dont overindulge! Its not like u will gain weight from 1 day of eating all bad or having a piece of cake! It doesnt work like that! Enjoy your food and u can EAT WHAT U WANT!…i will give u a list of the basic foods and then healthy meals and snacks

Good dieting foods for mealtime:

Soup and a salad. These are very good diet foods. A serving of soup (about half a can) has about 100 calories. Add a salad and you’ll have a complete meal. A cup of lettuce only contains 10 calories and other veggies are low in calories too, so you can really load up your salad. Add a sprinkle of shredded cheese or a chopped hard boil egg for some protein and a little fat to help you feel full longer. Look for sugar free or low carb dressing.
Turkey sandwich. The turkey and the bread will total about 215 calories. Add all the veggies you want. If you like mayo, look for the lite kind.
Chicken breast. Remove all the skin and bake in your oven. A 3-oz. Chicken breast (about the size of a deck of cards) has about 140 calories. Add a salad and/or cooked veggies on the side.
When dieting good foods to eat include snacks. Snacking between meals will prevent you from being so hungry you pig out at dinner.
Good diet foods you can eat as snacks between meals:

3 large (not huge) meals a day to lose weight?

I have an uncle who is losing weight by eating 3 meals a day and not 5 or 6 small meals a day. He was talking about it and from what I understood you have an hour to eat a meal including any beverages other than water. Not saying that you should eat as much as you can for an hour but just make sure you are done within that hour. After that anything else that you eat your body stores as fat. Even drinking pop. If you drink water in between then that’s fine because water doesn’t have anything in it of course. From what they had found is that this rule makes the whole eating 5 or 6 times a day worse for you because your body stores those extra 2 or 3 small meals or snacks as fat. Your body might be doing something else with this extra food that is bad but I thought he said that it turns to fat. I could be wrong. He said he can eat whatever he wants because there is no snacking in between. So he eats more fruits and veggies but can also eat stuff like burgers and pizza and not have to worry about it not being real healthy. It is working really well for him and I was wondering if anyone else has heard of this. Any information would be appreciated. I need to lose weight and want to know the best way to go about changing my eating habits.

Is 3 hours of exercise a day enough to lose weight?

I want to lose 30 pounds in 4 months. I’m 14, 5’6, 168 pounds. During July I was 184 pounds, that time I only exercised for 1 hour or 1 hour and 30 minutes plus I ate a lot due to me taking steroids (medical conditions.) I want to be 140 in 4 months because by that time I’m meeting some relatives for the first time, I want to give a good first impression. So I was thinking now that I eat less(no more steroids) and exercise for 3 hours a day. Is that enough for me to lose about 30 pounds in 4 months?
But! Used to exercise for 1 hour and 30 minutes and someone said I was being lazy and that’s not enough. 🙁
Okay, okay so let’s remove the 30 pounds and the 4 months, IS 3 hours a day of exercise okay? This guy told me an exercise work out for 30 minutes three times a day, is being really lazy. I don’t want to be lazy. 🙁 My neurologist told me I should only exercise for 10 minutes about 3 months ago. But poo, 10 minutes? That’s barely anything. And I think exercising a lot more can help me get cured. What do you think?

Excersizing 3 hours a day will cause an injury, your body can’t handle that much. You will lose weight at first, then you will sustain some sort of injury that will hold you back. If you want to lose weight, eat healthy and excersize 45mins-hour 5-6 days a week at the most. Your body needs at least one day to recover and heal itself.

For getting in shape and losing weight, should I swim 3 days a week or 6?

I’m at about 280 lbs, and I’m trying to cut down closer to 200lbs. I have been on a better diet and strength training for about a month which seems to be working well. This week I joined the Y and started swimming before work. My question is, in order to get into good shape and lose the weight, would it be more beneficial to swim 3 days a week (Tu-Th-Sat) for 60 minutes at a time, or 6 days a week (Mon-Sat) for 30 minutes at a time? I get to the pool at 6am.

Do NOT take pills.
First off, to figure out if you’re really overweight, you should find out what your BMI is by putting your height and weight into a BMI calculator.
Now, losing weight really isn’t that hard. Eliminate fast food from your daily meals. You don’t necessarily need to diet, but you should eat in moderation which means you should portion out everything and don’t over eat. Try to eat healthier meals too. Also you shouldn’t drink soda or eat junk food (chips, candy, sweets etc). Juice is fine, but you should mainly drink water. As for working out, look up on google/youtube workout videos. Jillian Michaels has a great video called “no more trouble zones” which targets everything you want to get rid of. They also sell that DVD and others like it at Target. Good luck and stay positive.

What is the calorie calculating method in figuring out how much you need to burn everyday to lose weight?

Before posting any smart-aleck answers to my question like “duh you put out more calories than you take in” — is partially true. I read an article on the Washington Post saying if you put out more calories than you take in with food OR you take in less food so that the calories you put out over-exceeds the calories you took in so that your “cheating the system”, your body can actually go into “starvation mode” and hold onto your body fat more, thus making the weight loss process stagnant and slower. I know there is a method (I’ve heard of it / seen it but never wrote it down!) or some sophisticated calculation where you e.g., take your body weight, calories you consume, etc. or similar figures so that you know how much calories you must burn each day in order to lose weight. Does anybody know how to do this calculation????

You can easily sneak them in anywhere such as cereals, add oil and avocados to salads. Get your protein from lean meats, milk, and cheeses. Increase your portion sizes at meal times. Instead of drinking water, drink milk, juices and smoothies and snack on dried fruits as well because they are more energy densed then fruit. Limit cardio work such as running and perhaps do weights. I bareeeely work out ….and I’ve never had a belly, big thighs, or big butt SO Listen k? I’m pretty much perfect-its not cocky,i just am…

Walk Walk Walk! And walk some more…its actually better than running….running makes your ankles weak over time. Do you want that when your older? I don’t think so. I actually do the bike, which is amazing…the faster you petal the more calories you burn….the belly is actually burning fat b/c you are sweating. Not a lot of ppl. Know that walking on treadmill/bike/or walking outside burns fat around the mid section…but it is so true. ALSO IMPORTANT: Do not use incline k? B/c your thighs will get bigger…try little to no resistance!! 🙂 Walking also will burn the extra surrounding fat that is covering muscles (underneath it)…so definitely do a lot of carido. Try sit ups too like 2 to 3 times a week to make abs show quicker!

Being a vegetarian or even one that eats red meat or dairy like ONCE IN AWHILE is the best to be one because you are healthy as a horse and you won’t have that excess fat and food inside your intestines that most red meats do.

I’m not trying to promote becoming a vegetarian, but here me out ok?

Here’s what I eat and my protein is perfect and I’m super healthy and have tons of snacks to choose from

Having a high protein diet is good in loosing fat, and keeping lean muscles, because usually the more protein is in a food-the less Total fat and calories from fat!

I eat lots of beans (Lima, Soy, red kidney, black, navy- RAW; never in can(but that is just my choice-if you wanted canned its NOOOO PROBLEM)

Try Quinoa too, you can find it in your grain, beans, or nut aisles

I also eat lots of salad with tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, carrots-yum yum!

The entire kosher aisle has manyyyy products to munch on! Geez! 🙂

Also, Some Kashi products are great to snack on!-especially the ones marked with high protein or protein added

Try Edamame too!- tons of protein and tastes delicious! (Veggie section even though it’s a bean loll)-get the non gmo kind.

Dairy (if you eat it): cheese-I’d suggest you go for this yogurt called “Fage 0” or “Chobani” yogurt (it has about 15 grams of protein in it I believe)… Ummm lets see, what else? All Goat products are good too and high in protein.

ALL vegetables are fun and easy to cook-I like broccoli, asparagus, yams, pumpkin, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower-and you can do whatever you want with it (fry, boil, steam, baked…etc.)

Have you ever heard of Matzo’s? (Kosher Aisle) they are crackers that have 4 grams of fat per serving (1) and only has 21 grams to 27 grams of Carbs in it depending on which version you get. BUT make sure you get the 100% whole wheat ones ya know?-just to be the healthiest. There is also absolutely no sugar in it either (sugar if not burned turns into fat btw)…..
The calories range from like 98 to 150 calories too! Oh, did I mention they are extremely delicious!?

Mott’s applesauce, no added sugar is one of my favorite things to eat too!
You can find organic applesauce too which provide different flavors without added sugar
All “no added sugar” products are phenomenal

NOTE: BEEF-honestly it is very bad for you and does not leave your intestine for months and months (look it up on internet…it’s the worse food for you in the world I believe, even worse than junk food-unless used in moderation and VERY VERY small portions)

Brown rice or even white rice is great too-I love Uncle Bens’ version
Miso soups are fantastic as well as any other soups (especially the ones with very little sodium)

Fruit is ALWAYS a great snack at night!
