David asks…

I know there bad for you but i dont care i am looking for a crash diet
I dont want to have to buy special products i just want this to work fast can you help?

weight loss cardiff answers:

If you want to lose some weight fast, this can help you!

My wife lost over 60 pounds last year through eating the right things. She has an extremely bad back and is unable to exercise at all. All of the weight she lost was through proper dieting alone.

I had her feed me according to the same diet and I lost 30 pounds in about 16 weeks, but I also exercised.

My wife did it through a diet center that she paid quite a bit of money to. Of course, she got supplements and stuff through them that I couldn’t get.

Donald asks…

what is best diet to lose weight fast?

i want to lose weight at least a 1 stone! i was just wondering what is the best diet! i have been working out and eating healthy! but any ideas thanks 😀 xxx
thanks for all your help guys thats great!! 😀

weight loss cardiff answers:

Forget about losing weight per se. Just adopt a healthy lifestyle.Eat a good healthy diet and excercise a lot!!! The more excercise you do the better!

For a healthy diet, you need to be eating small to medium meals regularly. 4 or even 5 times a day. Each meal (apart from breakfast which should preferably be fibre rich), should contain a balanced ammount of carbohydrates for energy, (from potatoes, rice and pasta, etc) protien (from fish, chicken, occassional red meat is fine, soya is good too) and plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants (simple fresh fruit and veg). Eat like this and make sure you are well hydrated (fruit juice is as good as water, any fluid counts, but some fluids have negative effects too, such as alcohol or caffiene rich drinks.)

Now for the science bit: Protien is essential for repairing muscle and keeping the muscle you do have healthy (this includes your heart, lungs, brain etc). You naturally lose the ammount of protien you have throughout the day (through urine etc) so this needs to be replenished regularly on a daily basis.

Carbohydrates are essential for energy. You won’t be able to function without it. It also regulates body fat and glucose etc.

Vitamins and minerals are obviously essential for a variety of reasons. For normal growth and development, for the healthy maintenance of the cells, tissues, and organs that make up our bodies, and also to let us efficiently use chemical energy provided by food.

You can have a wide range of healthy meals with this, from Thai, Chinese, Italian, British, Indian, etc. Just make sure each meal contains balanced ammounts of these three. On the bright side too, fresh veg and rice and pasta is a lot cheaper than crappy junk food!

This doesn’t mean you cant have chocolate or pizza/takeaway/etc, just save them as very occassional treats.

The big secret to keeping a healthy weight and staying healthy is EXCERCISE, particularly cardio excercise.

Cardio exercise includes any form of excercise such as running/jogging/swimming/cycling etc that gets your heart rate pumping and you sweating and out of breath. It will not only burn calories and reduce your body fat levels, therefore making you ‘slimmer’ by having less fat on you, but will also improve your resting heart rate and lung function, making you healthier.

I cannot understate the importance of cardio excercise. It is this which will basically burn the body fat off you.

But you have to remember that once you have shed a bit of fat you have to have a nice toned body underneath the fat to show off.

Strength training will help you strengthen and tone your muscles. This is done with the use of weights or by free training.

There are essentially (without getting overly complicated) two types of strength excercises based on different types of muscle fibres depending on wether you want to build size, bulk and power, or just ‘tone’ up the lean muscles an get more muscle endurance.

Heavy weights with short reps/sets will build your fast twitch muscle fibres and build size, power and strength. Imagine big guys at the gym lifting heavy weights.

But if you use light to medium weights with lots of reps/sets you will excercise your slow twitch muscle fibres, you wont build size, but you will tone up your body and train muscle endurance. This will obviously make you ‘look’ healthier and more toned, but will also increase your metabolism (as your muscles demand more energy) so you will burn calories faster. These muscles are also excercised a lot with cardio workouts (i.e your leg muscles when running).

Your arms for example, will need bicep curls and tricep dips using weights and reps of your choice (heavy – low reps, light – lots of reps) and also shoulder excercises such as holding the weights at your waist and lifting them perpendicular to your side or in front of you, etc etc.

Your stomach will need excercises that cover the entire torso. Leg raises for your lower ab wall, crunches, sit ups and planks for your upper and all over ab wall, oblique twists for your sides and superman stretches for your lower back for example.

These are just basic examples, there are literally hundreds of excercises, but it is impossible to show you on a site like this, get a trainer at your gym to show you some but remember the basic rules of muscles and weights.

As far as excercise goes, you should aim to strike a balance between cardio training and strength training, this way you will build good strong and toned muscle, but also keep your body fat levels down and increase your heart and lung performance, making you much fitter and healthier.

Mandy asks…

how to lose weight??? FAST!!!?

??? how to lose weight fast ??? diets? WORKOUTS AND SUPPLIMENTS

weight loss cardiff answers:

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don’t eat wheat then you don’t eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don’t eat junk food, and you don’t eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It’s not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym – a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

Betty asks…

Any reccomendations on weight loss pills?

Im trying to loose alot of weight, im not overweight im just average but im not happy with my body.. i diet and exercise but i don’t see a change.. i’d like to try some weight loss pills with great effect.. does anyone reccomend certain pills they use/used and it worked?

weight loss cardiff answers:

They burn your pockets, not your fat.. All they do is take away water weight.. Alli makes you poop yourself lol

Just do more cardio, that’s the secret.. 4-5 20 minute sessions to start and work your way up to 30-60 minutes at a time..

Of course if you went with diet pills, you might suffer from seizures or heart attacks.. Sure it looks like a quick fix and you see lots of people using them but it speeds up your metabolism for a very short time because your body gets used to them.. So in the long run, you need them like you blood, just to stay the same rate your metabolism has always been.. Or you’ll get fatter and fatter..

Chill on the pills, really.. Not sayin anything toward you or anyone who’s ever thought about them because I have before.. But really, in all honesty, you don’t need the side effects and all the problems they’ll cause you down the road for a year of looking decent when you could look even better with dieting and exercise.. It takes a lot more commitment on exercising but it pays off 10x more and you’re healthier in the long run.. Isn’t that what you want? Instead of 5 years later you’re on the pills on wondering why you’re gaining weight?

Good dieting, I’m sure you do though..anything with boneless skinless chicken breast..

My diet consists of stuff like:
Peanut Butter
Fish
Almonds, Cashews, ect…
Turkey, Chicken breast.. The boneless skinless kind.. Lean red meats..
Lots of beans and legumes..
Eggs.. Lots of them.. I usually use about 4 or 5 egg whites and 1 whole egg.. Eggs are actually easy to seperate if you crack the egg in your hand and move it around from one hand to another and eventually the yolk will still be there..
And fruits, veges… I eat fiber one bars sometimes, and I always drink 2 protein shakes a day.. One after breakfast, one before bed/working out.. Those are key for my diet..

If you wanna tone up.. You need to do cardio man, there’s no way around it.. Believe me, we’ve all tried.. Lyposuction only lasts so long lol

My advice.. Don’t eat refined sugars, too much white or other bread unless it’s 100% whole grain.. Yeah the stuff isn’t too good, but the white bread is a lot harder to process than the good stuff.. Makes you fatter.. And if you want fiber, fruits and veges.. They also have hidden benefits in them you might not have realized, google certain benefits and you may find yourself eating them more often. It’s hard to do, but do it.. They help you feel fuller, longer and are best ate w/ the chicken or turkey or if you’re a vegetarian.. Tofu/beans..

5-7 small meals a day, and a protein shake can be one of them.. Low calorie recipes.. Man, there are so many.. Check out the abs diet online.. You’ll find a lot of appetizing meals in there. Best of luck, lmk if u need anything else

John asks…

Should I take weight loss pills?

I have lost two and a half stone by eating healthy and going gym I still go gym 5 times a week and eat healthy maybe not as healthy as I ust to but still healthy I am now finding it hard to lose weight. If I take weight loss pills will it help?

weight loss cardiff answers:

No sry weight loss pills are bad for you………… Instead of eating meals try eating healthy snacks, as the day goes on and you use up calories/enegry. Nooooooone should ever be “full” unless you are wieght training and want to gain pounds of muscle, which you stated you are not…

So my advice=
1.run/jog every day

2.no more meals only HEALTHY snacks as the day goes on ( no pop or alcohol too lol almost forgot)

3.do not lift heavy wieghts at the gym, u may feel like your working out harder and ur more sore but ur actauly gaining weight lifting heavy so do maybe 5 pounds or less curls 40 reps (use ur judgment)

goooood luck!

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Donald asks…

what is the fastest way i can lose weight through exercises and strict diet?

basically i want to lose weight NOW.
and fast.
i have 7 weeks til my vacation and i need to lose about 40lbs.
anyone got any good workout tips or eating tips?
thanks.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Do aerobic exercise like brisk walking, jogging, bicycling(real or stationary) 1 hour daily or on most days. Eat more of fresh fruits and vegetables high in vitamin C like lemons, oranges, pineapples, grapefruit, limes, apples, watermelon, tomatoes, carrot, broccoli, cabbage, and celery burn off body fat. The burned off fat, which is liquefied, can then be easily flushed out of our body.

High-fiber fruits and vegetables as well as nutritious whole grains like barley, millet, brown rice, etc., keep our digestive system on track and steady insulin levels, which prevents storage of body fat.

Drink lots of water (8 -10 glasses a day). Don’ skip breakfast; skipping it would slow down body metabolism and defeat any weight loss effort.

Lisa asks…

How can I help my friend lose weight fast, shes about 270lbs 5’4?

Hey Everybody, am trying to help my friend lose weight by next year this time for her to be thin, her weight is around 270lbs i think, and she’s 5’4 whats the best way she can lose weight in a fast way. That’s not something you pay for, like the right food to eat and like a work out routine she asked me to help and i”d love to be able to help her out. Thanks!

weight loss cardiff answers:

It’s great that your friend has someone there to help out and be supportive. Obviously, the way to lose weight is to take in fewer calories than you burn. And losing weight over a year’s time is a good, decent goal. Most nutritionists say that it’s healthy to lose a pound or two a week.

My first suggestion would be to speak to a nutritionist. They can help determine how many calories she needs, what sort of food to eat, and make sure she’s doing it in a healthy way. From my experience, an obvious place to start is to replace sodas with something more healthy (water, for instance, or green tea is a GREAT switch, but make sure it’s real green tea (the ingredients should read tea leaves and water) because much of what is sold in America is loaded with sugar). Cut back on sweets. A great way to do this is to switch them with fruit. Honestly, after a month or two of eating less sugar, you start to find very sugary things too rich. Another good switch is to eat plain yogurt (I like to buy no sugar added) and mix in some fresh fruit and a spoonful of sugar yourself. Also, obviously watch portion sizes and cut out fast food.

Another great thing to do to help your friend out is to exercise with her. It’s really helpful to have an exercise buddy. It helps with motivation and support and makes it more fun. If she doesn’t get much exercise now, I would suggest starting out with daily walks. Try to make it somewhat fast-paced. Biking or swimming would also be good. I know many people who complain that if you are overweight it’s difficult to exercise, but if she starts out by doing these sorts of low-impact activities, then she’ll start to build up more endurance and losing weight will make higher-impact activities easier. I would also suggest joining a class. It’s easier to do something that’s individual, in my opinion, because you can focus on your own improvement at your own pace. Something like martial arts or yoga are great. Try to find something interesting and fun that you two can do together. If you enjoy it, you’ll keep going back and it doesn’t seem like a chore. Also, encourage her not to be self-conscious or worry about not being good at something in the beginning. No one is ever good when they start, and I know a lot of people are discouraged easily by this, but just keep at it, be encouraging, and work hard together.

Hopefully this helps. Your friend is lucky to have someone willing to support her in this.

How to gain weight back after surgery?

I had my tonsils taken out two weeks ago and I lost some weight,I’m already skinny enough as it is.What can I eat that will help me gain the weight back quicker?
It’s still hard for me to eat solid foods because my throat hasn’t healed all the way yet.

weight loss cardiff answers:

It may be easier to eat six or more smaller, balanced meals rather than eating three large meals, especially if you’re not used to eating much at one time.

Protein powders and nutritional supplements such as Ensure can be added for in-between meal snacks. You can also make your own delicious protein shakes at home with a blender using milk, yogurt, frozen fruit, etc. Look for some easy recipes here: http://www.easy-weightloss-tips.com/weight-loss-shake-recipes.html
Exchange the skim milk and fat-free yogurt for regular since you don’t want to lose weight. Most protein powders are not very tasty unless mixed with other ingredients.

Exercise is an important part of healthy weight gain. Strength training is especially important and will build muscles. This can be done at home or in a gym. Cardio exercises are healthy and should be a part of your routine, but they burn maximum calories and may cause you to lose weight if you don’t eat consume plenty of calories. Limit your cardio workout to 30 minutes. Consider activities such as: power walking, jogging, biking, swimming laps, jumping rope, dancing, skating, etc. Yoga and Pilates are excellent additions to your workout as well. Sandra asks…

how can you lose weight without doing to much work because your too lazy to do it everyday?

im a person who takes care of her family all the time and they all wont eat healthier. i want to get rid of my gut so badly and i have for years and i just cant seem to do it. How am i supposed to do the weight loss and try and take care of the rest of my family every single day of the week? my dad isn’t the most active person so i do a lot of things for him to (and my mom is barely home)… and i mean A LOT and it never stops… how can i get rid of my disgusting stomach? i really want this…. plus i have already taken pop out of my diet and i am somewhat eating healthier unless there’s nothing else to eat or drink at the house. thanks for the help if y’all can give it.

weight loss cardiff answers:

The fact that you have cut off all soft drinks is a great start! From now on try to consume about 1-2 litres of water, daily. Once i cut off all soft drink, results showed within 2-3 weeks of being off it, and i dropped about 1-2kg.

Now, if you can ever have the chance to cook dinner for your family then do it! There are heaps of recipes out there that are healthy, but don’t taste healthy.. So your family wouldn’t know the difference.
I recently made a mexican beef chilli with rice, and kidney beans and it was high in protein, low in fat and had plenty of vegetables. I found that recipe online.
If that is not an option then try this.

-Go buy some healthy snacks and keep them in your room.

– for breakfast poach 2 eggs, and have a slice of toast.

– For lunch, have a salad and seared chicken, or a can of tuna

– then for dinner.. Eat what your family is having but just have a smaller portion.

Smaller portions will work! It also helps if you use a smaller plate to trick yourself into thinking you have a lot of food. Eventually after about a week, your stomach will shrink and you won’t become as hungry as you normally do.

Next step, after dinner you can not eat! If you really have to eat then buy some frozen berries from your super market, they are high in antioxidants, and they take away that sweet craving you have for chocolate etc.
You could also have a green tea before bed.

Now, i know the idea of exercise sounds awful.. And it took me so long to build up the enthusiasm to work out… But trust me, once you start you can really get into it, it builds your self esteem when you exercise, and makes you feel much better about yourself, so starting is the hardest step.

Just try small increments, like going for a walk outside for 10 minutes, without you even knowing that 10 minute walk could turn into a 30 minute walk. If you have dogs, take them with you.
Each day set yourself a small goal, tell yourself “today, i will do 20 push ups, 20 triceps dips and go for that 30 minute walk” When you do the push ups, you can break it up into smaller lots.
Eventually as you become fitter you will complete your walk in less time, and if you felt like it, you could start doing small bits of running to build up a sweat. The main idea is to increase duration and intensity when tasks become too easy, also you want to try to keep your heart rate up.
This may require to a fast walk, going up and down hills for intensity and telling yourself “this time, I’m going to finish this walk in 6 minutes ” or something like that.. And you do the same walk each day to try to beat your own time.

Just remember, when thinking about your diet, you’re allowed to each everything in moderation, and for now just cut down on your portion sizes and only eat when you are truly hungry.

Best of luck
