Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Steven asks…

Which of the following is a polar aprotic solvent?

A) CCl4
B) NH3(l)
C) Diethyl ether
D) 2-methyl-2-propanol
E) 2-methylhexane

My line of thinking was to cross out all nonpolar substances. A, C, and E are automatically out. (Hopefully the ether is nonpolar, I think they are, or at the most, very slightly polar.. oh well.)

Then I’m left with 2-methyl-2-propanol and ammonia. 2-methyl-2-propanol is slightly polar, but it may display hydrogen bonding, so it’s protic.

The ammonia is polar, and also displays hydrogen bonding, seeing as the nitrogen is highly electronegative.

Which leaves the question.. where has my logic failed?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Your logic has failed in crossing off ether! It is a bent molecule, and polar.

Mary asks…

What is the product when the following compound is oxidized?

——-OH
C-C-C-C-C

A. diethyl ketone
B. 2-pentene
C. pentanal
D. diethyl ether
E. pentane

weight loss cardiff answers:

Lol…wtf is that? 3-pentanol, right?

If it’s oxidize, you get 3-pentanone, ie. Diethyl ketone.

Linda asks…

During extraction, which of these substances would be in the top layer when added to the same container?

A. Diethyl ether/water

B. Dichloromethane/water

If you also know why, feel free to explain a little. Thanks!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Diethyl ether and Dichloromethane would be in the top layer. Both of these chemicals have poor water solubility and float on the top of the water layer. (You know, like “oil and water don’t mix.”) The top layer is also called the “oil layer” for this reason.

If you have a chemical that you want in the water layer that’s more soluble in DiEE or DCM, washing and agitating it will mix the chemicals and ‘pull out’ your desired chemical into the oil layer, trapping it there. That’s why you shake the extraction funnel so many times. Since the oil layer sits on top, later on you can allow it to settle and then just turn the stop cock and run off the water layer.

Helen asks…

How much should I walk a day on a treadmill while pregnant?

I’m 8 weeks pregnant. I purchased a treadmill today to stay fit, get healthier, and relieve stress. I sit at home everyday and don’t get excercise at all. I walked 1 mile on it today at 2.5 mph, it felt great. I’m wandering how many miles is ok to get healthier while pregnant. I’m not trying to lose weight or anything like that, I eat like pig. I just want to relieve this awful anxiety and be a healthier person! im excited with my treadmill 🙂 Thanks!

weight loss cardiff answers:

I’m 6 weeks pregnant and I usually walk on the treadmill about 20 to 30 minutes on 3.0-3.5. It just depends how I feel on that day. Congratulations!

James asks…

Is it okay that I want to lose weight before getting pregnant?

My husband and I planned to start trying to conceive in January. I am currently 5’ 8” and weigh 160 lbs. I am 20 lbs heavier than I was last year due to severe stress that now has been dealt with and now I am trying to lose the weight.

I want to lose 15-20 lbs before getting pregnant because I don’t want to be 180-200 lbs while pregnant. I feel that if I weigh less when I get pregnant, then I will have a more fit and healthy pregnancy.

Has anyone else lost weight before getting pregnant? My husband thinks its stupid because I will gain it all back, but I am concerned about being at an unhealthy weight while at the height of my pregnancy.

Any advice?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Its not stupid to want to lose the wieght, your husband is wrong! The weight gain in pregnancy puts a strain on the body so it makes perfect sense to lose the extra lbs before you conceive. It will of course improve your chances of conception to (healthy diet etc!).
Start taking folic acid supplement now.

Maria asks…

Is it OK to take collagen supplements internally, while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Ive read such great things about taking collagen. I cant imagine it not being beneficial as it makes up 65 percent of the protien in our bodies. I want to take it because Im noticing fine lines around my eyes, and my hair is dry, brittle and thinning a little bit. Ive read great reviews on it helping with energy, weight loss, muscle gain, antiaging, hairgrowth, joint pain.. etc.. (not that Im trying to lose weight at the moment) Does anyone know if it is OK to take while pregnant?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Collagen supplements are not suitable for pregnant or nursing women.

weight loss cardiff answers:

If you don’t want to join a gym, there are so many things you can do at home. Swimming is the best workout for your entire body. I mean swim, not just splashing around. For the arms try to do as many push-ups you can when you wake up and before you go to bed.

I have struggled with my weight for years and have been on every stupid diet there is. But the only thing that is working is eating right and constant exercise I am afraid,..

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Sandy asks…

Does eating the bare minimum help you lose weight?

when i say bare minimum i don’t mean like 1 apple a day. i mean like perhaps cereal for every meal.

here’s what i am eating now:
breakfast – tin of peaches, maybe a yoghurt also
lunch – cereal
dinner – something cooked

will that help me lose weight?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Let me give you a few bits of knowledge which might help you…?!?

First of all, to lose weight your body needs to expend more calories then it consumes. Simply put, if you burn of more then you put it you will lose weight!

However, your body is a seriously sophisticated bit of kit and eating what youve mentioned there isnt healthy at all

Breakfast – Tin of Peaches (those peaches will be preserved in the tin in a juice. This juice will contain sweeteners and preservatives to keep it fresh. It will be HIGH in sugar, your body uses that sugar and creates an insulin spike in the body. It doesnt know what to do with it as it cant easily convert the sugar into energy so it stores it as fat.

Lunch – Cereal – Alot of cereals are marketed to seem healthy but if you actually look at the macro break down (carbs, fats, proteins) contained within the cereal it immediately becomes clear it isnt good for you. Your body needs proteing to grow and build, it needs carbs for energy and it needs fat to glue the other two together. More on this below…..

Proteins – proteins are what make you grow. Your hair, muscle fibres, teeth, nails etc. Everything revolves around an intake of protein to grow. Good protein comes from things like shell fish, white fish, tuna fish, chicken breast, turkey breast, good lean steak (no fatty sinue).

Carbs – your body needs carbs for energy. It takes them and breaks them down into usuable energy and loves it! Carbs are your best friend or your worst enemy. You need to consume things like complex carbs (wholewheat pasta and bread, brown rice, things low on the glycemic index). This is because your body immediately knows what to do with these things and converts them to energy, uses them up to power your body and poof they are gone from your system. However, if you eat carbs which contain sugars, like sweets, white bread, white pasta etc then your body doesnt understand, it cant deal with it effectively, therefore it kinda shoves it to one side and stores it as deposits of fat.

Fats – the word fat immediately makes people think of being fat. Fat DOES NOT make you fat. Carbs Do!!!! Good fats are essential, they are like the cement which binds together the rest. You want to avoid saturated fat however as this is bad.

SImply put, to lose weight you need to eat smaller portions, more regularly containing the right foods and exercise is a must! It isnt all about calories.

A person eating 2500 calories a day may put on loads of weight, yet a person eating 2500 calories a day of good foods can lose weight. It all depends on th source of those calories.

Carol asks…

Betty asks…

How can I lose 15 pounds in 5 weeks?

I need to lose 15 pounds in 5 weeks. I have been eating vegetables and fruits in small portions and lately i have begun purging when i eat a lot. i bike about an hour everyday, sometimes 2 and do abs and pilates. how i can lose the weight fast? does drinking a lot of water help? or tea?

weight loss cardiff answers:

1. Drink water …
No, you don’t have to fill up like a tub, but ensure that you drink 8 to 10 glasses of water every day. Don’t substitute for juice. Your body should always be hydrated. Your kidneys will thank you as it can easily flush out the waste. With adequate water intake your body will be able to metabolize fat more effectively. And if you have a glass of water 10-15 minutes prior to your meal, you will feel full once you start eating. Another fun fact, did you know that you can lose 62 calories by drinking ice cold water? But it’s better to drink it between meals or before meals, so that your food gets digested properly.

2. Eat 5 times a day …
Start with breakfast. The more you eat for breakfast, the less food you will want to eat at night. Please, don’t skip this meal as you’ll end up devouring everything in sight for the rest of the day. You don’t need to gobble up 5 large meals, just 3 meals of a sensible size and 2 delicious
yet low calorie snacks. Eat sensibly so your body doesn’t crave for food. If you treat your body right it won’t demand for more attention!

3. Use weights …
Needless to say, exercise is crucial to weight loss
. You can’t expect to sit on the couch all day, sip water and lose weight. Join a good gym that lets you work with weights. It will help you build muscle and your metabolism rate will increase. You’ll soon see the fat come off and in its place muscle will develop.

4. Use smaller plates in dark colors …
The hotel industry has changed the way we look at food
. Today a regular burger can feed an elephant. Well, almost! Check your portions the next time you dine out. You don’t need to finish every morsel. So, what you should do is ask your waiter to put half of your meal into a doggy bag before it even makes to the table. This way you will not be tempted and you will feel full eating less. And you will have something for breakfast
too!
When eating at home, it’s better to get rid of the huge plates you usually use. Substitute them with small ones – when food starts to fall off, you’ll know it’s enough. Try to get these new plates in dark colors. Dark blue will be your best choice since it’s the #1 color that fights off the appetite.Avoid red, orange and yellow in your dining area – they are the ones making your appetite go sky high! (Think McDonalds’ logo and you’ll do fine – do you think the colors they use were random?)

5. Read between the lines …
Food and drink products are all out to get you. They scream ‘Buy me! Buy me!’. It could be ‘fat free’ but it could still have a lot of calories. You need to analyze the nutrition label on the cover. The number one example of this is sodas. Find out what’s good for you and what isn’t. Knowing in advance can help you stay away from products that are calorie-enriched. Oh, and when shopping for groceries, avoid the aisles with cookies, frozen pizzas and ice-cream – it’s not the best place to test your will-power.

6. Keep a journal …
It helps to document what you eat. This way you can keep track and evaluate your eating habits
at the end of each week. And if you’re a little more tech-savvy, then you could always maintain a weight-loss blog. Ask your dietician to look at your journal and suggest improvement points. I found it helpful to measure myself with a meter every morning. Every time I skipped dinner, my waist was a little bit smaller – and that’s what gave me the strength to get my appetite
under control.

7. Don’t punish yourself …
Go easy on yourself at least one day in a week. If you begin to dislike your diet then there’s something wrong. Find a diet that suits your body type and your lifestyle.

You will definitely see results with these 7 fastest ways to lose weight. If you’re motivated enough to stick to the regime, you’ll get there faster than ever! STAY COMMITTED! Hope it helps.
