Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Joseph asks…

How often should interval training be done?

I recently “plateaued” in my weight loss plan so I incorprating interval training. If I run about 6 days a week, how many of those workouts should be interval training?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Well it depends on the type of interval training that you are doing. If its running intervals, you can do them as often as you like. What you do have to watch for is this….Interval training is a GREAT way to burn lots of calories, but they are designed to sustain and build muscle. So if you are doing hardcore interval workouts you could be gaining some muscle weight little by little.

But running intervals should be okay, everyone can have nice muscular toned legs.

So you can do your interval training 3-4 times a week. On your off days take it easy, as your body’s healing time is just as important as your work out…good luck

Daniel asks…

what are some good quick diets to lose weight?

I dont want anything to do with pills or stupid “as seen on tv” ideas. I also dont want any excercise suggestions because thats a given in a weight loss plan.

weight loss cardiff answers:

I think it depends on your body type– if you are carb intolerant or calorie intolerant. For me, I am carb intolerant and when I lower my carb intake, I can lose 10-15 lbs in a month the first month. It slows quickly after the first month. Keep in mind, I am also doing proper exercise with cardio and strength training while lowering my carbs. And I am not completely cutting out carbs, just lowering (no soda, easy on the fruit, no candy, cake ect). But if I do not keep at it, I gain it back pretty easily as well. Also, do not starve yourself. Eat 5-6 small meals all day instead of one or two meals. Eating small meals spread throughout the day helps your body to know it wont be starving and keeps that metabolism up.

In any case, good luck.

Maria asks…

Can a person with diabeties eat weight watchers snacks?

I am thinking about joining weight watchers to help me with my weight loss.
I may be diabetic and I am getting my test results from my last blood test soon.
I wanted to know if weight watchers is a good weight loss plan for people with diabetes?
And are the snacks they have ok to eat?

weight loss cardiff answers:

I have diabetes and have been doing WW for about 15 weeks. At my last doctor’s appointment my sugar levels along with my cholesterol had all come down into the normal range. I am still on my medications but he cut back my cholesterol meds and may do the same with my blood sugar meds after my next appointment if I show that I can maintain the progress that I have made.

You do not have to eat WW snacks (or any WW food) to do weight watchers. You just have to figure out the points for the items that you are eating, add them up throughout the day, and don’t go over your daily allowance. Throw in some exercise and you are good to go. It is really quite easy and no food is prohibited.

Here are some snacks that I eat:
Sugar/fat free pudding cups
Sugar free gelatin
fruits
veggies
Lays light potato chips
100 snack packs (lots of varieties)

I have actually never eaten any official ‘Weight Watchers’ foods. Good luck with the ‘diet’ and with the test results.

Susan asks…

what are some examples of resistance to hitler within germany?

no everyone would have liked him right? i’ve looked it up on google and everything i just can’t find any good information. any ideas? and where you got it from? thank you

weight loss cardiff answers:

The first group that comes to mind is the Society of the White Rose, organized at the University of Munich by a group od idealistic students and a philosophy professor. Their activities were discovered and I believe the entire group was executed by beheading.

Another example is an individual, a Lutheran theologian by the name of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He spoke out against Nazism and, I believe, was also actively involved in a resistance movement. He’s probably best known for his statement, “They came for the Communists, but I was silent, because I was not a Communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and again, I was silent; I was not a trade unionists. Then they came for the Jews, and I was silent; I was not a Jew. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak.”

Donald asks…

What does your college encourage you to be?

Does your campus teach you how to be a good Employee? Busines Owner? Investor? Or Self-Employed?
I don’t understand this “College teaches you how to think” argument.

Shouldn’t colleges focus their time on instructing you how to be as wealthy as you possibly can? And how taking their classes will make you financially intelligent so you don’t have to slave away for an employer or deal with jerk customers?

If there’s time before classes end, then that’s when they should teach you how to think.

weight loss cardiff answers:

I am sure you’ll hate my answer, but colleges are NOT career training institutes. They are institutions for education, and college faculties aim to teach students to think critically, and to be well-rounded human beings. Career training is to be found at vocational or technical schools.

Increasingly, students have come to expect career training in undergraduate institutions, and universities have, in some respects, capitulated to these demands by creating business schools, schools of engineering, schools of education, and the like.

But from the first foundation of universities in medieval Europe, and through to the present day, post-secondary education at the university level always has been primarily centered upon the “school of arts and sciences,” in which students are taught to think well (across several disciplines of study that are generally known as the liberal arts).

Financial success has never been the central aim of education. That is the aim of business. Education and business remain, despite the increasing commodification of education, two distinct enterprises. As a matter of fact, in most any introductory philosophy course at a university, students learn that knowledge and virtue, NOT material prosperity, are the noblest aims. This is why EDUCATED human beings look to people like Aristotle, Lao-Tzu, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Jane Addams, Dorothy Day, and others like them, rather than to Bill Gates, Donald Trump, and others like them, for models of a life well-lived.

But you would have known all of this if you had studied philosophy, European history, American history, or even the history of education. These things are taught at colleges and universities. 😉

John asks…

Bonhoeffer’s connection between schooling and Nazism?

In a book by john taylor gatto, bonhoeffer is said to blame part of Nazism on schooling – “Propagandists have known for a century that school-educated people are easier to lead than ignorant people – as Dietrich Bonhoeffer confirmed in his studies of Nazism.”

Can you point me to a citation? There is none in the book.

Thanks!

Lisa asks…

If you never do any household chores before, will doing it all by yourself help you lose weight?

Wife is on leave, she usually comes back after 3 days or so, but it’s been 6 days and the fridge is full of dirty dishes, floor covered with laundries. Can’t leave em like that, am running out of plates and underwears. I need some motivation to start doing everything.
So, will doing all the washing and cleaning help me lose weight?

weight loss cardiff answers:

If household chores alone can make someone lose weight, I’m sure all stay-at-home wives and mothers will be supermodel-skinny by now… LOL

But I used to put on my work-out outfit and some hip music when I clean, it did motivate me to move and burn more calories.

Jenny asks…

How much calories should my son consume in a day to lose weight?

I have a 9 year old, who is 4 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 128 pounds, need to know what daily calories should be for him to lose weight. He had surgery done on both legs in June 2005(doctors broke both legs(knock-kneed), cast, plates, screws). Then 2nd week November 2005, everything removed from legs, came home, 3 days later fell on left leg (broke thru screw hole), broke left femur(back to hospital). Plates, screws, and rod put in left leg. Had all removed June 2006, now is released to do anything. Also, on August 9, 2006 his grandfather died(was only male figure in his life/ his dad not in his life (not a good person), divorced for 5yrs. I started him back in boyscouts and when soccer starts up again he’ll play. Any advice or help would be appreciated. THANK YOU!!! (Son living with mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister)

weight loss cardiff answers:

Wow that poor kid. There is no magical number of calories. I’ve found that just generally eating healthy foods in controlled portions will help people lose weight. When you count calories you take the joy out of eating. Good luck and I hope your son can keep his bones intact for awhile!

Always eat breakfast because it starts your metabolism which helps the breakdown of food in your stomach so you will get rid of the food faster. If you dont eat breakfast most of the food you eat during the rest of the day will be stored as fat.

Ruth asks…

What’s the fastest way to loose weight ?

I have a vacation in two weeks and I want to loose about 10 pounds. Is there anyway rapid weight loss tips? And what’s the best commercial weight loss?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Aching to lose weight and don’t know how to start? I’m here to help! Here are 20 tips to help get you through one of life’s most oft repeated struggles – the Fight Against Fat.

1. Have you tried to give up sugar and haven’t succeeded? Instead of forbidding yourself certain foods – just eat less of them. If you must have sugar in your tea, cut it down from two spoons to one.

2. Ever notice how if you eat when you’re ravenous, you tend to overeat? So try eating more regularly, even if it means more frequently. Eat an average of 5 small meals a day, instead of 2 or 3 large ones, where you stuff yourself.

3. Be conscious about what you eat. Keep a food diary and note down everything you eat. You may be shocked at the results.

4. Eat or snack only on the dinner table, not on the couch in front of your television. Once you make a policy out of this, you’ll cut down on snacks tremendously. Don’t get too comfortable while eating. It’s always better to eat on the go. Always sit straight on the chair.

5. Make rules for yourself. If you experience cravings, give yourself ten minutes before you attack the refrigerator. In most cases, the craving would just die down and you’d walk away.

6. Drink a lot of water. This reduces hunger pangs and gives you more energy.

7. When you decide to finally attack your weight problem, you want it gone by the weekend. But realise that that is just not a realistic approach. If you want it off permanently, you’ve got to take it slow. It may even take up to a year to get to your desired weight – that’s fine, because you’ve got more of a chance of maintaining it.

8. Join an aerobics class. It’s more disciplined and it’s always better to work out in a group.

9. Stay busy. Don’t just sit around wasting time. Chances are your mind will wander to that delicious chocolate cake… Partake in activities that are not conducive to eating. Join a singing class, take up oil painting or gardening – cultivate a hobby.

10. If you have to snack, try this. Put your hand in the packet of wafers and take out a fistful. Finish off whatever you get your hands on – and that’s it.

11. Don’t stack up on fattening yummy foods. It’s easiest to control food intake if you just don’t have it around. If you feel like chocolate cake, buy a pastry so it doesn’t hang out in the refrigerator all week till you polish it off. Similarly, don’t keep tubs of ice cream in the freezer. Buy a cup or two and eat it when the mood strikes.

12. When you reach for the refrigerator, stop and question yourself. Are you just bored or are you really hungry? In most of the cases the answer will be the former.

13. Stick little post-it notes on the refrigerator saying, Stop! Or Reach for a glass of water.

14. Buy clothes a size smaller and work towards fitting into them.

15. Don’t beat yourself up or lose heart just because you’ve slipped up a few times. You need to keep a positive outlook and keep encouraging yourself.

16. Visualise how you will look without those extra kilograms.

17. Take up yoga.

18. Find new and different ways to measure how far you’ve come. Don’t just stick to the weighing scale. Scout around in your cupboard and try on old clothes that are big for you – excellent motivation.

19. Find a partner to work out with or to support you. Enlist the help of a friend and go for activities that don’t involve snacking. Take up tennis, go cycling… don’t just meet friends over lunch or dinner.

20. Get motivated. No one is going to lose your weight for you. You’re going to have to do it all by yourself, and if the motivation doesn’t come from within you, no amount of friends and family pushing you to lose weight is going to help.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation!!
