weight loss cardiff answers:

You will lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don’t eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you’ll need added potassium). Keep your fat percentage high. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

If you starve yourself, your body will freak out and will want to store every ounce in case it doesn’t get nourished again. You need to give it adequate nourishment so it doesn’t slow your metabolism down to adjust for lower calories.

Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.

High insulin levels unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.

Reducing body fat and increasing muscle mass will have you in awesome shape in no time. Good luck!

Has anyone had any positive weight loss experience using the Herbalife shakes and Protien Bars?

I have been using the Herbalife products and have seen some changes in the energy I have and the way I feel but have not seen any substantial weight loss. Has anyone used their products and have any success stories or tips to share?

weight loss cardiff answers:

A friend of mine has lost almost 10 pounds during the last month….I’m trying to find out if I can use them while breastfeeding…I’ve hear of other people too. Now, I tried them once but it didn’t work out, but to be honest, I didn’t do any diet, I ate the same crap I usually eat, so, it’s not a miracle, you need to eat healthier and less calories.

Carol asks…

How do you stay on a diet?

I have the hardest time sticking to a diet or even a sensible meal plan. Someone told me to read weight loss success stories every day as a way to stay motivated. What are ways you stay motivated?

weight loss cardiff answers:

I agree with dontknow. It is an acquired taste and the word “diet” isnt as much the word as the whole “lifestyle change” attitude everyone has been having.
My wife used to harp me about not eating enough fruits and vegetables everyday and although i like the taste of several, i was never motivated to bring them or even to watch what I eat.
It took me several months and some constant pressure to get used to packing at least 2 fruits in my lunch and not picking up junk food at the store or ordering the deep fried food at restaurants.
I never ate fish and preferred red meat over anythingelse and now i eat turkey meat, chicken, and fish all week and i have seen results i havent seen in 5+ years.
Just keep trying…it will really help.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Mary asks…

What’s the best way to lose weight and keep it off?

I lose weight easily, but I also gain it pretty quickly. I’m 5’2 and 165 lbs. People tell me I look more like I am 150 lbs, but still I would prefer to be a healthier weight. I would like to tone my stomach more and increase physical activity -with the exception of running, so alternative cardio suggestions would be great!

weight loss cardiff answers:

It sounds to me like you may diet to lose the weight, and then once you drop weight you go right back to your normal eating patterns. Or maybe you are more physically active certain times of the year… (i apologize if my assumptions are incorrect, that is just they way it happens most of the time, regardless, the tips below should help in any situation)

The key to losing weight and keeping it off is through CONSISTENT diet and exercise. Its more of a lifestyle change then an actual “diet plan”. When you eat, think whole foods. In other words, eat foods prepared as closely to they would be in their natural state as possible. Foods like 100% whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, raw or frozen vegetables instead of canned, fresh fruits, lean proteins, etc. The extra fiber in the vegetables, fruits and whole grains will help keep your appetite in check, and it will also supply your body with long lasting, slow release energy so you wont get a spike in blood sugar after eating. Another good thing to do, is take the amount of calories you would normally eat in a day, and split that up over 5-6 meals. This again will help keep you from over eating, will keep your energy levels up and your metabolism firing. For a solid ratio, shoot for 50% carbs, 30% healthy fats (nuts, olives, olive oil, fatty fish, avacado), 20% lean protein.

For cardio alternatives, i would recommend a full-body circuit training program. That will help you attain total body fitness and is a little bit more exciting then jogging for most people (i prefer running but that is just me). Also you can cross train with some road or mountain biking, or swimming.

Your full body circuit should be something like this

2-4 Leg Exercises (squats, lunges, calf raises, leg ext, leg curls)
2-3 Chest exercises (bench press, incline press, dumb bell flys, dumb bell bench press, push ups, dips)
2-3 tricep (tricep ext, kickbacks, cable pushdowns)
2-3 bicep (standing barbell curls, preacher curls, dumb bell curls, concentration curls, hammer curls)
3-4 ab exercises (you can google these and come up with probably about 100 different ones, just go slow and in control, squeeze at the top to get the best results)

Shoot for a weight that you can do 10-12 reps for upper body, 15-30 reps for abs (no weight), 12-15 for legs. Start out with the lower end of the ranges i have listed, and work up to more lifts. Do the circuit 2-3 times through depending on your fitness level. Start with a 20-30 second rest between sets, as your fitness level improves, try less to no rest.

Good luck

Linda asks…

What are some good foods to eat to lose weight?

They say that if you want to lose weight quickly, you should burn off more than you consume. What kinds of food don’t have that many calories in them? ( Besides a salad. I just never could really like salads. )
I really like eating fruits like apples and bananas for snacks. What about for lunch and dinner?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Hi Danca,

It’s great you’re already starting to form healthy habits with your fruits 🙂 Losing weight is not as hard as people think, in fact, it can be pretty easy. Just cutting out SODA and sugary drinks from your diet COMPLETELY is just one awesome way to lose weight fast easy and healthily. (I lost 10 pounds alone with that one change) That along with the other tips I’m going to share below and you will be on your way to easily losing the weight and keeping it off.

As cliche as it may sound you gotta eat your veggies. They are amazingly good for you, also raw nuts (almonds are best) fruits, and 100% whole grain breads instead of white flours (white flour is very bad for you, read up on it if you get the chance!) Try and stay away from fried foods and fast food as much as possible, and other empty calories and foods that provide you no nutrients, like ice cream/candy/cake etc. Common sense goes a long way with what foods to eat and how to be healthy, so use it 🙂

Building healthy eating habits and keeping the weight off in the long term is what you should really strive for. Also, make sure you don’t count calories, it can drive you CRAZY! Just eat GOOD calories, and when your satisfied, stop eating. Try to eat more meals a day and portion them smaller, it really is proven to speed up your metabolism and burn fat way faster. If you mix this in with the other things I’ve shared, you will be on your way to easily losing weight and keeping it off.

Just be persistent, set goals, make little changes and stick with them. You will get to where you want to be. You really have to want it, I did, and I’m at my goal weight now. Please check out my blog, I think you will enjoy the information and my weight loss story. The link is below and best of luck hon.

Ken asks…

How do you lose weight easily and quickly?

I’ve got my prom at the end of June this year and I really want to lose a bit of weight so i look better in my dress, what is the best diet that is easy to do and helps you lose weight quite quickly?

Hope you can help 😀

weight loss cardiff answers:

There is no such thing as losing weight quickly. But you can lose weight by counting calories and walking everyday. Its hard to say how many calories you should eat and how much you should walk because you didnt give us any information about your body. I started working out 4 weeks ago and walked 20 minutes everyday and ate no more then 2000 calories for three weeks and then no more th en 1800 calories on my fourth week. It is now my 5th week and I’ve lost 20 pounds. But I’m extremely over weight so it kind of melts right off me. So I’m going to suggest eating no more then 1500 calories a day and walking 20 minutes every single day and you should lose weight. No need for a killer 1-2 hour work out if your not used to it because you will burn yourself out. If you already work out say 30 minutes a day, then bump it up to 35. I was just giving a rough estimate for you. Good luck!! Have fun at your prom 😀

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Carol asks…

So weight loss is really easy.. why are so many Americans still so overweight?

Im a 21 year old male, been overweight my whole life, not obese but pudgy/chunky. I am atm 5 foot 6 and 142 lbs, lightest ive ever been and I feel just great. I was 180 lbs at 5 foot 6 which is awful I was disgusted with myself and I dieted 1600 cals a day no more, sugar under 40-50mg a day, salt under 1800mg a day. thats it sounds hard but its not. i followed that eating for about 8 weeks and it wasnt strict I ate peanut M&Ms at times, and things like sun chips and goldfish for snack. It was not bad. 8 weeks of work and I got rid of 20 lbs average per month, thats years of building up of bodyfat burned out in 8 weeks just by dieting not much exercise except my job and I am a dishwasher at a busy restaurant so i burn maybe 200-300 calories a day from work. Point being, I found it is really easy to lose weight, easier to lose than gain. So why dont so many people just cut the calories and cut the weight? I can see why appetite suppresants might be needed but why are people buying all of these fat burners and carb blockers thinking they’re miracle pills and still giving up their diets I never understood why weight loss was so hard for these people. My two questions are is my logic right, in the sense of me saying weight loss is much much easier than weight gain? Second question being, why can you lose weight so quickly and gain it so slowly? I am eating around 2500 calories these days daily and watching my weight and Im not gaining an ounce back which is good, but is it really that much harder to gain than to lose?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Well the reason why its easier to lose weight than gain it is because when you are losing the weight you are actively seeking that result, whereas when you gain weight your not trying to gain weight it just happens very gradually until one day you look in the mirror and you’re like “AHH I got fat!???
I’ve dieted a lot in my life and I’ve noticed that it is a play on perception. Some people might say its easier to get fat than skinny just because you dont notice how much weight you gained until you’re already fat. But when you sit down and claculate the time it took to actually get that fat then they see it took awhile.

Anyways the reason why many americans are still getting fat has to do with social environment. For example poor people can only afford cheap food, and cheap processed food is the unhealthiest food you can get. Have you ever looked at the nutrition content of a cheap microwave dinner? The stuff is horrible for you! But hey they gotta eat and they cant afford the expensive healthy stuff…now thats one example. The other example is the college grad who gets a nice cushy desk job. He sits at a desk all day with little to no exercise and by the time he gets home he’s not gonna wanna run 10 miles is he? That and he’ll sit down and drink a few cold beers (REALLY high in empty calories!). Also if he happens to have a family and kids, well there goes all the extra time he could have used for exercise!

I offer these examples because they are commonplace, but of course it can be argued “they can make time for the things they need to do”, which is perfectly true. But when you have so much on your plate does it really matter if you weigh 30 pounds more than you did 4 years ago? I do believe that there is no good excuse for letting yourself gain so much weight but they are understandable reasons for not staying in herculean shape. Its just not an ideal everybody holds in high regard.

Donald asks…

Quick, easy, fast weight loss..is it possible?
