Do you have an opinion on my weight loss plan?

Ok so I went to this site that calculates your daily calorie needs. It says that to MAINTAIN in my weight (250), given that I consider myself lightly active, I should eat 3575 calories a day. Also supposedly, if you want to lose 2 pounds a week, you need to take 1000 calories less than what you need to maintain your weight.

Sooo, if I eat 2000 calories a day, I should lose a little more than two pounds a week.

My plan is to eat 2000 calories until it takes less than 3000 calories to maintain my weight. According to this calculator, that will be around 210 pounds. It says at to hundred pounds, I can eat 2860 a day to maintain. So at that weight, I am going to eat about 1860 a day (1000 less than what I need to maintain). I will do this until I reach 160. Then I should be able to maintain around 2288 but before I go back to that, I’ll be eating what I need to still lose until I reach the 160. Does this make sense?
I know that 3500 isn’t going to help me lose. I’m just saying that eating that supposedly will maintain my weight which is way way way to high anyway.
And I do exercise. I go to curves 3-4 times a week(actually pushing myself on the equipment). Also I try to walk twice a week.

Honestly, no.
Forget the calculator stuff. Basic intake is around 2,000 cals.
Most people on a diet it around 1,600-1,800 calories. That’s what you need to do.
Eating 3,575 calories a day? Not good. It’s not going to help you “maintain” 250 lb, you’re definetly going to GAIN weight. Unless you NORMALLY eat that much.
To cut a pound a week, it’s true that you need to take 1,000 calories less. Less than what you NORMALLY eat. Track what you eat and calculate off that. I don’t really trust this weight/calculator business, because in my opinion it doesn’t take a lot of other major factors into account.

Want to lose weight? Simple plan. Hard work.:
– – – – –
– Load up on the veggies & fruits. Lowest calorie plan out there, totally natural. Find your favorites – I like mangoes & strawberries, I can a whole box in a sec!
– Cut the junk food. No sodas, my dear. No candy. I guess it’s ok to indulge, but not daily. Try to find substitutes, or balance it out [like chocolate-dipped strawberries].
– Lots of water & sleep. Water flushes out toxins, keeps you healthy, and increases metabolic rate. Sleep – can we ever get enough? Like a cute saying I heard the other day, you can buy all the diet pills and organic food you want, but water is cheap and sleep is free.
– Careful of what you snack on! A bite of your friend’s cookie, a swig of Coke from your co-worker, a couple fries from your sister’s McDonald’s bag can all add up to 700 cals a day.
– Exercise. Yes. You have to. Dieting is fun and all that [yeah right] but exercise helps you get there a lot faster and STAY there. You CAN indulge in that occasional Snickers if you exercise. Yoga, running up stairs, fitness tapes, jumping rope, gardening, kickboxing, swimming, lacrosse, basketball, tennis, cardio dance, millions of jumping jacks – whatever works for YOU.

You’ve heard this all before, right? Because it’s what WORKS. It takes intense determination, and may need some restarting over and over. I know. I’m on day two of my millionth diet plan and just dug into some peanut butter. But hey! I did cardio dance today.

Eat nothing, how quickly will I loose weight?

My new medication is making it nearly impossible to eat. I used to drink about 48 oz. of water daily, but now I can hardly drink. I am able to stay hydrated, but it takes a lot of effort. I’ve been sipping broths and V8 when I can. Since the medication is not for weight loss, I wondered how much weight I might be loosing. I’m already thin, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a calorie/weight loss calculator, or could share personal experiences of loosing weight this way and possibly the pace at which it happened. Thanks.

Starvation not only makes you loose fat but most importantly muscle. This is something you dont want to do. Diet and exercise is the way to go. Most people average 1-2 lbs a week by proper diet and exercise

How long does it take to notice weight loss after cutting calories?

I used a BMR calculator to figure about what calories I need to maintain on a daily basis. The number came to 2477. That would maintain my weight of 220 pounds. Just so you know I’m male, 6-1 in height, age of 44 and not that active. Everyday for the last 2 1/2 weeks I have cut my calorie intake to 1800 or lower. I’m starting to think my scale is broken. Maybe I am operating under some bad assumptions.

Your numbers are correct and you should have lost weight.
There are however many factors which influence weight (fat) loss and you might be stuck because of for example underestimating your calorie intake, food sensitivities, sluggish thyroid, not enough sleep, too much stress, medication that you are on, too many toxins have build up and you don’t drink enough water to flush them out …

Unhealthy weight loss :(. Tips for gaining? Easy-to-make meals?

I am 15 years old and was 5’7″ and 112 lbs.

Now I’m 5′ 7 1/2” (woo, I grew) and 96 lbs (oh noes!) o_O. I starting to decline since school started because I have a much busier schedule this year and often just…forgot to eat ><

That would explain why I'm always cold and have been getting sick so lately. ;-;

So~ after school I also had 2 bowls of oatmeal and spaghetti for dinner to make up for my small lunch as lack of breakfast.

What are some tips for gaining…oh say, 19 pounds? I think 115 is a good weight for my height.
And what are some easy-to-make breakfasts and lunches? Cereal and oatmeal gets boring, and I don’t have a lot of time to bother actually cooking something for lunch. Plus, my favorite brand of bread was discontinued, so I don’t make sandwiches. T.T

Any weight loss tips that are easy to stick to? Other help with losing weight!?

I have a problem with sticking to something to lose weight. I need easy ways to help me out. I really like food and I tend to eat when I’m not hungry. What’s a way to stop me from doing that? Also, I have a problem of not moving alot. I seem to sit in front of the computer all day, mostly because the heat outside makes it almost impossible to do anything. So, Anything will be appreciated. Words of encouragement would be great. Is there a free online place I could talk to others trying to lose weight and things like that 🙂 Thanks for all the help!

What i would have to say is walking or if you dont want to do that walk up and down the stairs 20 times. Or just work a lot. TRY to eat eggs for breakfast and sandwich or salad for lunch.something really good for dinner.i have the exact same problem but i cant seem to control it but i would be happy to help other people.i know exactly what to do but i just cant keep it up.

Eat good, exercise daily, go to bed early, and don’t do drugs.

That’s all u need to do. All that counting calories, workout plan, no sugar week 2 and carbs week 3 stuff is bs. Diets don’t work, creating a healthy lifestyle does.

You need to also make healthy choices like eating whole wheat bread or whole grain bread instead of white bread and brown rice instead of white rice. Cut all junk food. They are bad for you and cause weight gain fast. Cut fast food as well! If you get hungry in between your 3 meals, eat a piece of fruit/vegetable, low-fat yogurt, skim milk, or fruit juice. THey are all good and healthy and will burn fat. As well as eating healthy, combine with exercise and you will lose the weight healthfully and easily. Diets don’t work in the long run. When you consume too little, or deprive yourself of certain foods, you are also not getting the essential nutrients. That’s why everyone gain the weight back and more in diets. Diet’s are a plan for fail. INstead, just focus on eating healthy. You will feel better, look better, and perform better. Opt for a healthy lifestyle, not a fad diet. That’s how you lose weight and keep it off for good.
For the exercise, don’t overdo yourself. Just walking, jogging for 1 hour each day will be more than enough. Rememeber to rest for 1 day of the week. Also, if 1 hour is too long for you, you can BREAK IT DOWN thorughout the day. Nobody said you have to get it all done in one shot, just do some after you wake up, some in the afternoon myabe, and sometime before or after dinner. It’s more managaeable that way. Walking, jogging, running or swimming are aerobic/cardio exercises and they burn the most calories and fat. They will make you strengthen or build your muscle and keep you burning more calories and fat.

You need to boost your metabolism back up to where it used to be. I am over 45, and lost 25 in 5 months by doing it the old-fashioned way; exercise and calorie counting.

I worked up to going to aerobics classes 5 days per week, and lifted weights every other day. I limited my calorie intake to 1200 per day and made sure I ate healthy foods and took multi-vitamins.

I am now a size 3, down from a size 12, and my muscles are extremely well-defined and sexy. I get whistles from the college boys now. The first couple months I started this I hated it, but I forced myself to go NO MATTER WHAT every day, and by the fourth month I started to see and feel a huge difference. They find themselves ordering the steak dinner at a restaurant and discarding the baked potato. Well, that jumbo backed potato has several hundred calories. If you eat your steak, green vegetable, and a soup, but skipped the potato – what have you done? Reduced calories!

With all these juice diets and soup diets — weight watchers — and all the rest — add them up! People doing these things are eating less!

People! Eat less and eat right! That’s the way to do it. Don’t do Atkins or juice diets. Don’t starve yourself. Take in 500 calories a day less than you burn, and you WILL lose weight.

If you are a completely inactive slug, you may need to consider eating next to nothing. On the other hand, if you engage in vigorous aerobic exercise every day, you can continue to eat what you used to eat in your former lazy slug life and you will probably lose plenty of weight.

To put it another way: “get off your @ss and deal with it!”
