Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

James asks…

Can I lose 40-45 lbs. in 6 months EASILY?

I gained a LOT of weight. I’m 185 now (5’5 or 5’6) and haven’t been this weight since about the age of 17-18. I just got lazy.

So anyway, during my teenage years after I gained all that weight, I worked out every day, started eating right, did cardio, and lost 40 lbs. I think it took me about a year? I can’t remember because it was so long ago. It might have been less, like 8 months, but I’m not sure. My lowest weight (and my plateau) was 137.

Anyway, I’m 27 now, pushing 28 and want to know if I start a routine again, working out every day (an hour cardio, half hour sit-ups & whatever else I decide) for 6 months, will I lose 40 lbs. easily? I know since I’m not a teenager anymore it’s going to be harder/take longer, but is it possible to lose 40 in 6 months or is it something that I’d have to really really push for.. I don’t want to kill myself, but I would like this weight off no later than next May. Is 40 lbs. easily feasible in 6 months without working out like a maniac?
Just to clarify: I know it won’t be EASY, easy, but I mean eating right and doing an hour cardio per day, easy.. I don’t want to have to work out 3 hours a day, 7 days a week in order to obtain this.

weight loss cardiff answers:

I was so excited to answer this question!! I’m fourteen and i had an insanely slow metabolism before. I recently have lost 41 pounds and i started in end of may so it took me about 4 months! I just did a lot of cardio. I didn’t let myself splurge on anything though. I haven’t had soda since then, i don’t eat any sugar and not many carbs, but i prayed, i worked out every day and when i saw myself losing it it only made me want to keep on going, so if your really strict with yourself it is absolutely attainable!!

Nancy asks…

What are some healthy and cheap lunch options?

Every day for lunch, I have £2. I usually go somewhere for lunch, because it’s cheaper, but what are some healthy options that I can easily find and are ready to eat? I often go for chips because that is the cheapest thing, and everything else is too expensive. And I am a teenager trying to lose weight if that helps.

weight loss cardiff answers:

If you are going out, look for delis and sub shops. Deli Turkey and ham are low calorie, avoid the cheese and mayo, and load up the veggies. Very healthy and very good.

The best way to find a weight loss routine?

Would it be talking with your doctor, a gymnast, or what?

I would prefer to talk to a PROFRESSIONAL rather than read peoples’ blogs and stuff. I REALLY wanna try anld lose like 60 lbs in the next 8-9 months..

Anyway, any tips for losing weight (actual tips, not links to free trials etc), or who I should talk to to figure out a routine would be appreciated. Thanks.

weight loss cardiff answers:

You might start with your doctor, then talk to a nutritionist.

I dropped 55 lbs in a year. There’s no big secret to weight loss. If you do the following, you will lose weight.

1. Eliminate processed food and fast food from your diet. ALL that crap with refined, artificial ingredients is screwing up your metabolism
2. Focus instead on quality, high fiber nutrition. Buy organic whenever possible
3. Do NOT ingest any of the following: Sugar, high fructose corn syrup, white flour and other refined carbohydrates, MSG, aspartame, trans fat (hydrogenated fat), artificial colors, excess salt, and preservatives
4. Buy a pedometer and make sure you log at least 10,00 steps daily. This can include your gym workout
5. At the gym, do at least two days a week of challenging weights and five days of cardio (cycling, treadmill, elliptical trainer, etc.)

You’ll find that people at the gym are great about sharing information; just by going and talking to gym members, you’ll get a better sense of what you need to do.

Here’s a site showing the technique for various weight exercises:
http://www.criticalbench.com/exercises/weight-lifting-exercises.htm

WebMD has more info on healthy, high fiber nutrition:

Good luck.

Sharon asks…

Whose in for a custom site for weight loss?

I am a professional programmer and can create a custom site where you create and account and update and it has features to post daily pic, stats, charts, progress, journal, top 10 losers (winners), blogs, chat, support groups, etc.
Sort of like the my-fat-loss-space of the web. Maybe we can have a donation or an optional $1 feature to join for premium account, then every 3 months someone is voted to win that money for best progress(weekly pics required).

Duno. I feel like this is a better incentive that pushes people get in shape. I am also a certified personal trainer and will dedicate as much time as possible to answer questions. Perhaps I can also recruite some buddies to do the same.
Will start the site with me losing 15 pounds to my goal of 175!

What do you think of this idea?

weight loss cardiff answers:

I think that sounds great, as long as you could join for free and still have basics benefits….

It seems like it may be expensive though. To host it and upkeep the site.

There are other sites out there but the membership fees are pretty high…

I really do love the idea however.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Charles asks…

how to help my morbidly obese son lose weight (10 points for best advice)?

so my son is seriously morbidly obese hes 11 years old 5’3 and 392 pounds has a 78 inch waist has a shirt size of 6XL and his body fat persentage is 69% and his pediatrician said if he keeps this up he will have a heart attack at about 25 years old. i blame myself for him being like this i always coddled him and when ever he wanted food i gave it to him. he is a coach potato who watches tv and plays video games all day. i went to a parent teacher confrence and the teacher said how the other kids always tease him and how he could not fit into his seat so they had to give him a desk and an office chair. my husband is a little over weight he is 6’3 and 220 pounds and lives kind of unhealthy so i guess my son got his habbits from him. and i have a 16 year old daughter who is 5’2 and 110 pounds so she is normal weight ( shes those types of girls who doesnt eat alot and gets full quikly so the food she doesnt eat she will give to my son. i am 5’5 and 130 pounds so im thin and am able to do physical activities with my son. im desperate i love my son with all my heart and i dont want to lose him. as for now he gets tired very easily and really cannot walk for more than 10 minutes with out needing a break. so i want to start off slow and then intensify activiteis as time goes on. we live in Houstan, Texas so it is warm all year to excersise outside. what im asking is
what diets or healthy recipes can i use that a 11 year old would like?
what are some fun physical activities an 11 year old would like?
he likes football and baseball he used to play until he got too heavy to play.

weight loss cardiff answers:

You need to stop giving him all the greasy fast foods/junk foods that you have been catering to him. You never should have let him get to that weight. You are not a bad parent, it’s just that you let him make bad choices.

For now, do what you’re doing with him walking 10 minutes at a time, do 2-3 times 10 minutes a day, 7 days a week, then when he’s able, have him walk/jog 30 minutes, and once he’s able to do that, have him jog/run longer, up to an hour or hour and a half. Be an encouragement to him and do not give in to his cravings for fast food/junk food. Make all your meals at home, and incorporate at least one fruit and vegetable in each meal. Have him help you make meals so he can find out how he can make healthy choices for himself. Explore many healthy options, as he may not like a certain food. Cut out all junk food, no exceptions. It will be extremely hard at first and he’ll beg and cry for that junk food, but you can not give in, if you truly want your son to lose the 250+ pounds he needs to lose to be healthy.

Don’t have him play in sports until he’s lost about 100 pounds because people might make fun of him, which would be horrifying, trust me.

Have your husband throw a football outside with him, and maybe hit a few baseballs. Have your whole family get active and healthy, it will motivate him more when he’s living with people who are active with him, especially your husband.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Talk to your son. Explain to him his problems, and severe future risks. Make a great diet plan and schedule, and make a deal with him. If he follows the schedule each week, he can get a little “treat” in recompense.

His diet should consist of 40% protein, 40% complex carbs and 20% healthy fats. Have him eat between 5-6 SMALLER meal portions each day. His protein should come from lean meats, such as chicken breast or turkey breast, white fish, eggs, cottage cheese, or protein shakes. His carbohydrates should come mostly from fruits and veggies, with plain instant oatmeal. His fats should come from avocados, nuts, nutbutters, and extra virgin olive oil. Have these in moderation. Also, be sure he only consumes around 1,600 calories (considering he is at a very young age and very over weight). Only allow him to drink green tea (without sugar), and water since these are zero calorie drinks. Be sure he stocks up on his vitamins as well. His end of the week treat should be a low fat frozen yogurt, or baked cinnamon apples. These are a sweet dessert and makes it seem like you are cheating your diet, even though it’s healthy and tastes great! Be sure he is doing cardiovascular training exercise 5 day out of the seven days of the week. He must be running, using the elliptical, and jumping rope for a solid 40-60 minutes each of his workout days.

Don’t feel bad! He needs a quick and immediate change in his health! He is at a very young age, and an extreme amount of weight.. This could potentially be a dangerous future situations.
Follow my plan, and I’ll guarentee he will shed those excess pounds quickly. Weight him each week! If he is losing about 2 pounds per week, then keep up the great work and keep going! If he is not losing anything, hire a personal training and go to a nutritionist. If everything fails, he might have an overactive thyroid, so go to the doctor and check. Nothing but surgery can fix that!

Best of luck for you and your family 🙂

weight loss cardiff answers:

Eat more frequently and in smaller portions, also stick with healthy foods. A good snack is carrot sticks or triscuits rather than cookies, or cheese and crackers 😉

I feel your pain. Goodluck.
