Richard asks…

How do i lose weight quick?

I’m young and i’m looking for a quick way to lose weight. I want to lose around 5kg as soon as possible. I walk about an hour on my walker and its not making a difference. I’ve cut back on my eatting and yet i’m still weighing the same. My friends are all skinny and I want to fit in more. Please help?!

weight loss cardiff answers:

1. Exercise for 30 minutes every day.
Try jogging or running on the tredmill or join a sport like baseball or soccer.

2. Stop eating/drinking anything with refined sugars or that is processed.
Sugers turn into fat. Sugars actually turn into fat quicker than other foods

3. Drink 64 oz. Of water every day (this might be hard, but that is the amount u should aim to get every day)
When a person is thirsty, the brain sends messages to your throat and stomach. Even though the throat might be trying to tell you that u r thirsty, the signals in the stomach are more noticeable. The stomach makes you feel hungry when you are actually thirsty sometimes. So, when u r hungry, u might be thirsty, so try drinking water first

4. Watch your calories
aim to only eat about 2500 calories a day. One pound of fat is made up of 3500 calories. If you eat less than 2500 calories a day and only eat about 2000 calories a day. If you do this, you will lose about a pound a week

To be more specific, you can…

1. First start by getting up earlier than usual. Around 5:30 AM to do some of you workouts. Getting up early shocks your metabolism because the body needs

more energy to get going. Right? This will start your system on the road to weight loss. That early start with about 10 minutes of stretching. Have a cup of

coffee to get the blood going also.

2. Do all the sit-ups you can. Just do them. 15 or 20 whatever, we don’t have a lot of time to work with. Rest 1 minute repeat, do this for 6 sets. Already

you are breathing hard and feel worn, because the body is working extra hard at being up earlier and then going right into exercise. If the early morning

hour lets you get your cardio in, go ahead and do it. 30 minutes.

3. Diet. Cut all current meal portions in half, just cut them in half, nothing fancy or complicated, CUT IN HALF! Cut out all bread products, all gravies,

candies, chips, night snacks, etc. If you crave at night eat a banana, other fruit or best a non-fat yogurt. There are some tasty ones out there.

4. In the evening do another 6 sets of sit-ups maxing out each set. Cardio again. The trick is to stay with getting up earlier. Yes it’s hard, that’s why

it is so effective. Why do you think the Army gets up so early, it is intense training to the max.

weight loss cardiff answers:

I have a couple of water bottles next to the couch.. Each time I sit on the couch I pick them up and lift them up and down.
It is boring and it seems useless to do but if you get used to do it,., after just 20 minutes you will start sweating and your arm will get tired.
Just change arm and carry on, eventually it will become automatic and you might even want to progress to some dumbells, maybe a little bit heavier than the water bottle.

Questions about weight loss help!!!?

First of all…
How can all these skinny people eat so little? Over time does your appetite lessen or is it genetics or something?
If you do exercise over a long period of time do you eventually like it?
Is there any super easy tricks to lose weight?
What’s the best form of exercise to be toned and how to keep the weight off?

THANKS SO MUCH!!!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Most skinny people get used to not eating very much over time just like people w/ eating disorders learn how not to eat. Just because you exercise for a long time doesn’t mean you will like it. It will just get easier. A easy way to lose weight is to take off 200 calories a day of how many you usually eat. Do that for a year and you lose 20 pounds and your welcome

Donald asks…

How can I lose weight quickly without much effort?

I want to lose atleast 30 pounds but between work and school I dont have much time to go to a gym or cook healthy food. I am usually grabbing something quick to eat while driving. I am open to anything whether it be an easy diet plan or weight loss product. Any advice or cool tricks to lose weight fast without much effort?

weight loss cardiff answers:

It makes sense that with a busy schedule it’s hard to find time out of your day to exercise or make something, but the main thing to focus on when it comes to your weight is actually your diet more than your exercise. Exercise is good for muscle and toning, plus it makes for a healthier lifestyle by staying active, but your diet is very important. My coach told me that in the morning, you need to eat something at least to get your metabolism going, then you can eat a regular lunch and then for ‘dinner’, divide it into two small meals. This prevents you from eating too much for a last meal, but also to prevent your body from going into starvation mode when your body will cling to anything you eat when it is in that mode. When you grab quick food to eat, make sure you have healthy snacks around like granola bars or fruit and veggies. For meals, just make sure you’re making the right choices. Sometimes it sounds easy, but it takes time to implement an idea like a new diet when you’re so used to something else or just don’t want to.
Plus, just don’t eat more than necessary, like snacking too often or just plain overeating. It’s hard for me to reiterate what my coaches would tell me because they know more than me, but this seriously helps more than you know.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Jenny asks…

Weight for a 16 year old- be honest?

So about 2 weeks ago, I gained some weight and hit 140 pounds. My weight fluctuates a lot, but this was the first time I hit 140. Anyways, after I saw that, I watched what I was eating (no chocolate, chips, i don’t drink soda or eat greasy foods) and went back to my regular exercise routine for a while and I dropped back down to 133 pounds.
I didn’t starve myself or anything lol don’t worry. I always ate (still do haha) breakfast, and ate 2 sandwiches during the day (about 2-3 hour interval between the two sandwiches), and I generally don’t eat too much for dinner, maybe a shake with veggies, lowfat yogurt, and 2% fat milk.

This probably sounds somewhat methodical to some of you who are reading this, but because I tend to gain weight easily and lose it somewhat easily as well, I do my best to watch what I eat. Oh and I don’t really mix well with oily foods (hamburgers, pizza, fries) b/c I get nauseous when I eat them, so that helps with watching my weight.

Now onto the somewhat more serious part:
Currently, I am at 133 pounds and 5’3 and a half inches tall.
I have a somewhat muscular build (i can’t really describe it, but I’m able to do 80 crunches, 30 pushups, nearly 10 pullups. so try to imagine the build i guess?)
I do believe some of my muscle results in a slightly heavier weight. But recently, my parents have both been telling me that I need to lose weight. Even after I’ve explained to them that based on my bmi, I’m at an okay range, they still look at me as if I’m nearing obesity. It really hurts that I can’t bring up this type of conversation with them without hearing “Go lose weight, stop eating so much, etc.”
Even at a younger age, I was somewhat heavy, and ‘bigger’ than some of the other kids at school. I was never chubby, just more of a muscular build.

In middle school, I tried a few times to completely cut down on what I ate and would limit myself to very little food. I saw weight loss in terms of pounds. My parents, however, told me that I wasn’t eating enough now, and that I needed to eat properly. Hearing these sort of mixed signals would completely throw me off, and so I stopped going to them for advice on a bunch of different things.

My parents aren’t bad people, it’s just that I feel like when it comes to my weight, they see me as being fat and heavy and not at all healthy. I feel like they compare me to all the other skinny asian girls who are stick thin. Am I supposed to really reach that point to be considered “healthy”?

For those of you who read this entire story/question, thank you so much for taking the time. I just want your honest thoughts and opinions regarding this situation. Do you think I should lose weight? And do you think that I really am at an unhealthy point in my life?

weight loss cardiff answers:

You actually sound very healthy. I’m 15, 5’8 and 131 pounds, I get called lanky, but your figure sounds great! And if you can do that amount of muscle exercises you must be in good shape!

I think you need to go through your health with a nurse or your GP. Maybe to talk about if your diet is sensible etc. I think your diet sounds great, and very healthy, but you should discuss your weight with your GP or school nurse because they can tell you if you’re healthy.

If you don’t want to, all I can suggest is take my word. I think you sound totally healthy and in great shape! I wouldn’t worry what your parents say, when I was at my biggest they used to tell me I was big, but now I’ve lost 2 stone, they tell me I’m too thin! They can never make up their minds and they constantly worry, its just what parents are like I guess, but you shouldn’t listen to everything they say otherwise you will never get anywhere in life.

weight loss cardiff answers:

After breakfast, make water your primary drink. At breakfast, go ahead and drink orange juice. But throughout the rest of the day, focus on water instead of juice or soda. The average American consumes an extra 245 calories a day from soft drinks. That’s nearly 90,000 calories a year — or 25 pounds! And research shows that despite the calories, sugary drinks don’t trigger a sense of fullness the way that food does.

Charles asks…

how can you lose weight without getting too skinny for football?

well i am 14 years old. i played in my football team last year. next year i am going into highschool. i weigh too much. the thing is i get in my excersizes but i eat too much. this got me as big as i am. its not good. but it is good for football. because of all the excersizes i do and how much i weigh it seems that my legs have really “learned” how to put up with it. because of this the muscle on my leg is pretty damn big. i feel as if that if i lose weight i could really run a lot faster. right now i run a 8.1 on the 50 meter dash. i know its not great but most of the fat kids put up a 9 or a 10. the last time a ran it i put up a 7.9 but it really wasnt official since my friend clocked it. well basically how do i lose weight without making it so people could easily take me down. because i think that i am strong because of my fat.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Continue to work out and eat less. The foods and amounts you eat is what will keep you heavier than you want to be.
