weight loss cardiff answers:

Yes you can lose weight in a healthy way…
You can jog daily for 45 minutes or so, eat healthy (mainly foods which are low on fats).
Try to drink water as much as you can. Don’t skip your breakfast as it affects the metabolism negatively. Try these very simple methods to lose weight http://www.thewikihealth.blogspot.com/2011/01/simple-tips-how-to-loose-weight.html
Including fiber rich food in your diet is also a very good idea.

George asks…

does anyone have tips of losing weight and exercising for those paralyzed from the waist down?

I’m paralyzed from the weight down so my physical motion is limited of course. But I do want to still lose weight and exercise more. I know one good way of losing weight is running (or rolling) every day but we’ve been having a lot of rain lately so it’s been difficult to go out and do that. Any ideas?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Im paralysed from the chest down (T3). I eat a well balanced diet so I dont put on weight and try to excercise 3-4 times a week.

Try checking out your local gym. They cant/wont turn you away just because your a para. They should have facilities for this sort of thing. Swimming is a brilliant source of excercise, as well as being theraputic. I really enjoy swimming, and because I dont have a lot of balance, i feel safe in the water because my body is supported.

Wheelchair football, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, they are all good options too.

Eat healthily, but dont go nuts and deny youself everything, i.e eat well during the week, and have a takeout or something on Saturday. Dont forget to drink lots of water!

At the end of the day, even just pushing yourself around the house (street, work/school, mall) is still excercise.
