Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

James asks…

Whats the quickest way to lose weight and keep it off?

i dont eat breakfast as i feel sick in the mornings and as a teenager dont have a lot of money. i gain and lose weight very easily and i need to know if there is a way thats affordable to lose weight and keep it off. im 16 and weigh 10.5 stone. also im fed alot of carbs at home for dinner

weight loss cardiff answers:

Its very easy. You have to burn more calories than you take in. If you dont excercise, then you cant eat a lot. If you get a lot of excercise then you can eat more. Scratch Mcdonalds off your eat list.

Mandy asks…

How to continue losing weight during the school year (for the RIGHT reasons)… :/?

Over the summer I gained a lot of momentum with my weight loss.
I felt like I wanted to lose weight for me…so I exercised everyday. Ate healthy.
Now school has started…and I feel like I’m exercising and eating moderately (losing weight) just because I want to impress people at school. This happens EVERY year. Over the summer I feel like I do everything for myself…but then as soon as school starts and I see all these attractive guys and girls, I feel like I’m doing it for others.
And when I try to lose weight for the wrong reasons- I EASILY give up.
I have self respect…so when I’m on the treadmill, sweating my butt off, dying…and feel like I’m doing it for stupid thickheaded teenagers at school…I can’t help but get off.

How do I continue losing weight for me and how do I block out thoughts about school when I’m exercising?

Plus what are some good reasons to exercise– besides the fact that it helps you lose weight?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Being healthy is such a giant accomplishment, it’s very easy to eat rubbish and sit on your butt all day. It takes commitment to really try to stay fit and it changes your life. Being healthy is associated with being pleased with the way you look which leads to being happy for as long as your healthy. Not everyone is suited to commit to being healthy and the fact that you are capable of such should be something to be proud of!

I’m a senior in highschool and I know how frustrating it is to constantly compare yourself to others. You just have to remind yourself that you’re not being healthy just for a short while, it’s a lifestyle! And 90% of the people in your school won’t be a part of your life after highschool so there’s no need to pay attention to them.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Easy. Find a new source of motivation and resolve.

Do it for yourself !!! This is the most important reason.

Do it to feel better about your figure
do it for your health
do it for the increased energy
and yes, do it so people will have a better opinion of you (this doesn’t have to be the only reason ! Just a bonus 😉 )

but most important be careful not to overwork yourself. If you do the stress will pile up and you will just give up and quit if you burn yourself out. Trust me it happened to me once and i gained like 80 lbs. It was terrible haha i really let myself go. Remember: slow and steady wins the race.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Lizzie asks…

How can I lose weight quick?

I want to lose weight quick for summer! I don’t have the courage to not eat! I want to wear a 2 piece swim suit for the summmer like my skinny cousins. But I don’t know how. I would like it if you answered my question and found me a cost less place or diet where I can lose weight. Thank you and please help. Also may God Bless you.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Okay, Stacey here we go……….

You will not lose weight simply by not eating. Here are three things you can do that are relatively FREE AND EASTY:
1. Downsize your portions just slightly. Not radically, just slightly. You won’t notice the difference.
2. Drink at least three glasses of iced black tea or iced green tea a day. And add one bowl of oatmeal to your daily diet.
3. EAT BREAKFAST NO MATTER WHAT! Eating early gets your metabolism going so your body doesn’t think it’s starving and send sugar to your midsection to keep you alive! Starvation doesn’t work. Eat earlier in the day, less at night. Get to bed on time. You’ll actually lose weight while you sleep!

Thomas asks…

What is the best and quickest way to lose weight in your thighs?

Anything could work for me. Im not fat, just a little big in that area. It doesn’t have to be just thighs. Anything that can you can lose weight quick.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Here’s some weight loss tip’s I have picked up over the years:

– Exercise 6 to 7 days a week.

– And try to break your workout into two different sessions, this gives your metabolism a jolt.

– Drink 10 to 12 cups of water a day. And try to drink ice cold water, it burns more calories.

– Take enough vitamins, especially ones that promote weight loss (such as 1800 mg. Of Fish Oil, Vitamin B Complex, Co-enzyme Q-10, ect. Do your research).

– Drink green tea or take green tea pills ( it’s been shown to speed up your metabolism).

– For your metabolism’s sake, eat within 1 hour of waking up and don’t eat 3 hours before you go to bed.

– Try a vegan or vegetarian diet (it worked for me :D).

– Drink 12 oz. Of warm lemon water (use the juice of 1/2 a lemon) with a little sea salt every morning. This will detoxify your body and make your skin look amazing.

– Or, if giving up meat just isn’t your thing, just count calories. Try to have around 1200 a day.

– Try to avoid white, bleached, or enriched flour.

– Stay away from high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils.

– Eat every 2 to 4 hours to keep your metabolism going.

– Eat 5 to 6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism up.

– Try to get 6 to 8 hours of sleep. When your body is deprived of sleep your appiteite increases by 15%.

– Sugar and artificial sweeteners are the devil. If you have a sweet tooth, grab some fruit.

– Avoid all junk food, fast food, and fried food.

– Try only drinking water, tea, and black coffee. There are so many hidden calories in drinks.

– Eat whole grain foods and healthy fats (like olives, avacados, nuts, ect) and stay away from refined or “bad” carbs.

– Remember to read the labels. They hide so much junk in “healthy diet” foods now a days. My rule of thumb is, if I can’t pronounce it, I won’t put it in my body. Because you are what you eat.

– Set small goals (like 5 pounds) and when you reach your goal reward yourself with something (not food).

And just remember that you can do this. It’s not impossible. You just have to stick to it and the weight will just fall off. Good luck with losing weight. Hope I’ve helped.

Sandy asks…

I need to lose weight really quick. Maybe good exercises or streches or maybe eating low carb food. I need answers please help. I only have th month of may. I have exams so I still need energy.Thank you.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Weight loss is an overall process and there are no magic answers. Pay no attention to weight loss supplements and pills and all the latest fads. You need to think about many factors but most of them are related to issues we’ve known about for a very long time. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.

Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

Make a few additional small changes – walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.

Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can’t get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one.

In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.

Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate – in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don’t. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.

Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.

Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.

Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.

Vary your routines. Don’t eat the same number of calories every day (vary your calories from 1400 a day to 1900 or 2000 some days), eat a variety of foods, and do different kinds and amounts of exercise. You will lose weight much more efficiently if you mix things up from time to time so that your body doesn’t adjust to any one routine.

An area that many people overlook is getting enough sleep. You are much more likely to overeat or to binge eat if you are tired and not well rested, so get enough sleep.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

James asks…

What is the safest, best (long term), and quickest way to lose weight?

I am 5’3 and 270 pounds. I am ready to lose weight. I am going to start an exercise program that will have me running for 30 minutes daily by next month (I have never ran for that long). I want to lose weight with eat better, but have no clue as to what program to try. Should I go low-calorie low-fat, or low-carb (I have don’t the Atkins diet, but didn’t lose anything in the first two weeks)? What do you think I should do?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Please do not try fad diets that rarely work in the long run and consider a healthy life style change.

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you’re consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm

Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html

A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/

A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. Burn more calories everyday. It sounds simple but it works. Most people do not know how to calculate this. The basic formula is Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity.
