I am needing some sources in terms of a dietary stage. I have looked for different types of foods for my uncle. He is in the process of going on a diet, and he would like to know what steps he should take. Please give me some sources of different foods and diet drinks he may enjoy.

Special k has alot of good products especially the cereals also they make a protein bar that is really good. I dont know where you live but here in the usa we have the lean Cuisine meals that are low in calories and taste very good with a wide selection. I dont like to “drink” my food so i cant help you with any suggestions on diet drinks but what it comes down to is moderation. You can eat anything and loose weight because its really about how much you are eating. If you are not eating things that taste good to you, you will never stick with it and then after you get off the diet you will end up gaining the weight back

Mediterranean Eggplant Casserole

2 tsp. Olive oil
1 onion, halved and sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. Oregano, dried
1 1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Pepper
1 1/2 lbs. Tomatoes, chopped
3 tbs. Fresh basil, sliced
1 cup dry bread crumbs, seasoned
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
3 egg whites, lightly beaten
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 lg. Or 2 1/2 lbs. Eggplant, peeled and cut crosswise into 3/8″ thick slices

1. Prepare a cookie sheet with fat free cooking spray and set aside.

2. Mix bread crumbs with 2 tablespoons of parmesan cheese. Beat egg whites with 1/2 tsp. Salt.

3. Dip eggplant slices in egg whites, coat with seasoned bread crumbs.

4. Place eggplant slices on prepared cookie sheet. You will have 2 different batches. Spray eggplant slices with cooking spray. Set aside.

5. In a nonstick skillet heat oil over medium heat, add onion and garlic. Cook until softened. Add oregano, 1 tsp. Salt and pepper. Cook for one minute. Add tomatoes, increase heat to high and cook until thickened, about 10-12 minutes. Remove from heat and add basil.

6. Broil eggplant slices, 1 batch at a time for 3-5 minutes per side, until brown.

7. Preheat oven to 425 F. Layer eggplant slices in a 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Top with tomato mixture and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and remaining parmesan cheese.

8. Bake uncovered until cheese is bubbly, 10-15 minutes.

What are good mediterranean diet foods?

All I can really think of is artichokes, tomatoes(I think), and olives/olive oil. I know fish/lean meat is a big part of the mediterranean diet, but I don’t eat meat/dairy (vegan). What are some other mediterranean foods?

I know that diet needs to be combined with exercise and stuff in order to build muscle, but what kind of foods would naturally build up muscle when combined with exercise?

Optimal nutritional intake.

Try to get an appropriate proportion of carbs-proteins-fats. Don’t rely too heavily on processed food, try to eat very nutrient-rich foods.

Proteins that come with Omega 3s are great. We tend to lack omega 3s in our diets, and I believe this causes a lot of problems. Fish are good sources, flax seed also has omega 3 I think.

Eat fruits and veg rather than breads and other overly processed carbs. Fruits release glucose much more slowly, and whatever you can do to reduce insulin spikes is ultimately good for you in a lot of ways. Whole grains, fruits. “Whole of the grain”.

Some foods are better cooked, some are better raw. I think carrots and tomatoes break down in a good way when cooked. Other things tend to lose nutrients to the cooking medium (water, if boiling) or evaporated through the steam. Not necessarily bad, especially if you trap those nutrients with a lid and use the extra water as a base for a sauce, or maybe a broth later on, it’s all good.

Eat rich natural foods – rich in nutrients. Kale, chard. Berries. Lean meat (chicken, fish). Avocados! Apples. Cook with olive oil instead of butter. Try to get more unsaturated fats than you do saturated. (some seafood, like smoked oysters, or things stored in oil in a can, have high saturated fat.)

Avocados are awesome. Nuts and berries are fantastic. Eggs and chicken are great. Yogurt is awesome, it really is a helpful food, no doubt. Try to limit your milk, cheese to some degree.

I need a good grocery store prepacked foods diet to follow?

I am a lover of prepacked foods. Why, because they are quick and easy. I can stuff them in my purse and go. I am a single mom to a 6 year old and we are always on the go. What would be a good 1500 calorie diet plan that is all prepacked diet foods from the grocery store? Any advice will be helpful to me.

Learn to read the ingredient labels. They tell all as far as nutritional value for your dog.

Hills Science Diet is NOT a healthy choice whether your vet tries to push it on you or not. Vets get kick-backs from manufacturers for the food they supply. It doesn’t make it good for your dog, but it’s good for the vet.

Learn about the things to watch for…the things your dog should NOT have included in his diet, and understand exactly what those ingredient labels are there to tell you.

I’m not even going to recommend some quality brands here. With the information below in the source section, you can start to figure that out for yourself, and you will be learning how to make that decision for yourself.

Diet FOODS????

I’m on a summer diet and am pretty overweight. I plan on running/walking on the tredmill everyday for at least an hour. I have no way of doing strength training. So, what are some good foods to eat for my diet. I hate salad and most veggies. Green tea? Well, thanks!

Well… Without veggies, it’s a lot harder to diet… I’d suggest trying cooked veggies (I’m a big fan of stir-fried veggies, and if you add some meat to it it’s basically a full meal)–the trick with stir-fries is to add lots of seasoning.

As an example, slice up some onions, zucchini, and sweet peppers… Saute the onions in a bit of oil or some chicken stock until they’re soft, then add the zucchini and saute that for a bit, and then toss in the peppers and cook them just a bit to heat them through. Then squeeze a little lemon juice over the whole thing and sprinkle a dash of red chili flakes overtop… Stir to make sure everything’s combined and serve. This one’s good with just about any type of meat, but I serve it with salmon or grilled chicken most often.

I’d also stock up on fat-free yogurt, ’cause that’s a really good alternative to sugary, fat-filled desserts, and since it has protein it’ll fill you up too.

Good to see you have your exercise schedule down! If you can, doing some simple resistance exercises would help accelerate your weight loss, but if you have some reason that you can’t do any strength/resistance training then stick to cardio.

(Oh, and yeah, drinking tea is good for you, since it’ll help hydrate you, and that often helps a little in losing weight ’cause your body will stop storing water… Just make sure you drink caffiene-free tea before going to bed!)

Chicken is very low in fat, just marinade it the day before and leave in fridge until you leave for BBQ. Fish and shelfish are great BBQ’d, especially things like mackerel and prawns as they are very tasty and low in fat. You could make vegetable kebabs with onions, mushrooms, peppers and tomato’s take corn on the cobs to bbq, make a salad……

I’ve done the 3 day diet.

You can drink any tea you want, just don’t add milk, cream or sugar.

The vegetables should be cooked without any butter or oils – steaming is the best, or you can eat them raw if you want.

It can be any kind of toast – rye, whole wheat, 7 grain are the healthiest instead of white bread.

Tuna – you can eat canned tuna if you want instead of a tuna fillet that has to be cooked. The frankfurter can be boiled or baked, it doesn’t matter, as long as none of the meat is fried you can cook them any other way you want.

Canteloupe melon is the best to eat on this diet, but you can have watermelon or honeydew melon if you don’t like canteloupe.

You should exercise a little – go for a nice walk each day, but it is not necessary – you eat so little food on this diet that you are guaranteed to lose at least a couple of pounds even without exercising.
