Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Nancy asks…

looking for a penpal to help keep me motivated to diet and exercise…anyone interested?

I am a 36 year old Mother of two teenagers. I need to lose weight and get in shape. I seem to do better when I have someone to do it with. Anyone interested? I have some gf’s here who would do it with me, but I need someone who is objective and not someone who is going to persuade me easily to go off the diet and exercise…

Chris asks…

what’s a good balanced diet for a teenager?

So, my little sister is wanting to lose weight but all she’s doing is having water all day long and eating one meal a day. I know this is unhealthy and it may be bad for her so I want to find a good, balanced diet to give her. I told her I’d take her to the nutritionist but she said no cause she feels ashamed. So, she’s still in school and she takes lunch from home but she can’t take a big, elaborate lunch you know. I just want something good for her that will make her lose weight easily but also keep her healthy. Is there any site where I can find that? Or idk, good advice for it? I worry about her, she’s my little one after all haha.

Maria asks…

Am I a suitable weight for a teenager?

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if my current weight is appropriate for a teenager. Let me give you a little background information : I am 17, 1.87m tall (6’1.5″) and weigh 95kg (~209 lbs). I am very active sportingly – I play high level Squash and Tennis regularly, and bicep curl 20kg for 15 reps every day. However, using any BMI calculator for my details, I come in at obese/severely overweight – yet I am physically fit (I can play intensive squash for 1hr without tiring excessively, and regularly go on hikes of ~20km a day without struggle), only have a small amount of stomach fat and do not tire easily. My endurance could do with improving, as could my core strength, but apart from that I am physically fit. My question is, therefore, am I a suitable weight for my age and height, given that I am still growing and can exercise perfectly well?
I would prefer to lose some weight as I am not as slim as I would like to be, but I am wondering if it is of any danger to my health/wellbeing if I do not. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

A bmi calculator is just a rough guide. It doesn’t take into account your activity level. By the sounds of it, you probably have a lot of muscle, and muscles weigh a lot more than fat. So you’ll weigh more, and your bmi may be high, but you are probably completely healthy and a good weight for someone as sporty as yourself. The only way to really know is to see what your body fat percentage is. So just ask your doctor if you’re really worried. But I think you are fine.
