Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Steven asks…

How do I kick start my weight loss?

Hi Guys, I know that diet and exercise are the best way, and I do exercise regularly, normally 2 – 3 times a week. But I’ve just got back from holiday and got into some bad eating habits. I’m just looking for something natural to use alongside diet and exercise to give me a bit of a kick start with the weight loss! Im looking to lose about 14lb altogether. Thank you!!

weight loss cardiff answers:

There are many ways. First of all you can cut out your eating habits especially try to avoid food that contains high in calories such as meat . But sometimes you can also risk your own health , so be careful . But there are also many ways you can lose your weight if you really know the tips and tricks.

Here are a few tips to get you started

1. Eat fresh fruit instead of drinking fruit juice. Juice is often sweetened but fresh fruits have natural sugars. When you eat fruit, you are taking in a lot of fiber, which is needed by the body, and fruits of course are an excellent source of vitamins.

2. If you do have a craving for fruit juice then go for fresh fruit juice instead of these that contain artificial flavors and colors. Or even better, try making your own fruit juice taking care not to sweeten it with too many calories.

3. Choose fresh fruit to processed fruits. Processed and canned fruits do not have as much fiber as fresh fruit and processed and canned fruits are nearly always sweetened.

4. Increase your fiber intake. Like I mentioned, the body needs a lot of fiber. So try to include in your diet as many fruits and vegetables as you can.

5. Go crazy on vegetables. Vegetables are your best bet when it comes to losing pounds. Nature has a terrific spread when it comes to choosing vegetables. And the leafy green vegetables are your best bet. Try to include a salad in you diet always.

6. Eat intelligently. The difference between man and beast is that we are driven by intelligence while beasts are driven by instinct. Don’t just eat something because you feel like eating it. Ask you’re self whether your body really needs it.

7. Watch what you eat. Keep a watchful eye on every thing that goes in. Sometimes the garnishes can richer than the food itself. Accompaniments too can be very rich. Remember that it is the easiest thing in the world to eat something without realizing that it was something that you should not have eaten.

8. Control that sweet tooth. Remember that sweet things generally mean more calories. It is natural that we have cravings for sweet things especially chocolates and other confectionery. Take this weight loss tips seriously and go easy on theses things and each time you consume something sweet understand that it is going to add on somewhere.

9. Fix times to have meals and stick to it. Try to have food at fixed times of the day. You can stretch these times by half an hour, but anything more than that is going to affect your eating pattern, the result will either be a loss of appetite or that famished feeling which will make you stuff yourself with more than what is required the next time you eat.

10. Eat only when you are hungry. Some of us have the tendency to eat whenever we see food. We use parties as an excuse to stuff our selves. Understand that the effect of a whole week of dieting can be wasted by just one day’s party food.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

James asks…

How do I convince my friend to get gastric bypass?

SORRY THIS IS A LITTLE WORDY!!! Hello. My best friend is a beautiful, smart, funny, pretty 25 year old woman. However, her lifestyle has caused her to gain significant weight recently, and she is overall living rather unhealthy, and now gaining weight rapidly.
she has always been a bigger girl, but 2 years ago was about 225 lbs (at 5’4″ tall) and currently is 270. Last summer she was about 260 but she lived with me for 2 months and lost 13 pounds with out even trying! But gained it all back plus another 10. That’s 23 pounds in 7 months. Her weight is just skyrocketing. It is 100% due to the way she eats, drinks and lives. She is lazy (I love her but we all have flaws and that would be one of the few she has.) I just mean she sleeps a lot, is not active and uses the minimal amount of physical effort in things. She also eats unhealthy. I will say, to be honest, she doesn’t truly overeat, its WHAT she eats and when. She eats only 2-3 times per day in big meals and she often eats pasta, like almost daily. She drinks a lot of koolaid but, worse than that, she drinks a lot of alcohol. I think the inactivity and the constant drinking are what is causing the rapid weight gain more than the food. I basically, could easily help her on a weight loss plan, like i said, just living with me made her lose weight significantly. The problem is her lack of motivation or concern and the laziness. She wants to lose weight, her goal is 100 lbs in 1 year (which I think is a reasonable/ realistic goal) but is full of excuses. I just don’t think she is up for it. Problem is, it affects our friendship and her lifestyle. She doesn’t want to do the active things I like to do and she seems to think I make her look less attractive. She actually said if she got married I wouldn’t be in the wedding because I am too hot LOL. I appreciated the compliment but obviously this joke is a window into her lack of self confidence. She currently doesn’t work or go to school, either. Our friend group is basically all healthy, relatively fit, very active/ busy and attractive. I think it makes her feel even worse that we all “have it together”. Thing is, this girl is GORGEOUS! But the weight takes away from that outer beauty now and puts her in downward spiral. I just feel like this whole rut she is in is pushing her away from her loving friends and towards some people who are the types who just sit around and drink all day. I actually think gastric bypass may be a good option for her because it kind of forces a healthy lifestyle and I doubt she has the motivation otherwise. I know that sounds awful but it is getting to a point where the risks off her current lifestyle or more than the risks of surgery. I don’t want to see her as an alcoholic or bedridden, diabetic, heart issues etc. I love her and she has a young daughter who I do not want to see lose a mom at a young age, and I don’t want to lose my best friend. I know a few people who got the surgery and though a couple have had some issues, they all lost weight, feel better and would do it again if they could. Also she is young and healthy so she is a good candidate. I think she doesn’t want to do it because of how it forces the healthy lifestyle on her. But really, I just don’t think she’ll lose weight the old fashion way, she won’t put in the needed work. Has anyone ever had an intervention with a friend about this surgery? What did you say and how do I go about it? Obviously it is touchy and she is rather sensitive and somewhat easily offended, though more open to my opinion than most people. Please share your stories! Thank you
Just read the first couple answers so I am adding this in. Thank you for the suggestions but they do not help with what I am asking so far. First off the surgery is 100% free where we live- no cost at all. And I do offer to workout and be active with her. I invite her to walks and work out with me, she won’t, I even kinda trick her by saying something is only “a few blocks away” and it is farther LOL. I also don’t drink and I tell her my positive healthy diet tips (I lost 35 lbs last year) but again, she just is in a long-term rut. I understand surgery has risks but severe obesity and alcoholism beginning young are even worse. If you do have tips that kind of force the healthy lifestyle like surgery does, that’d help too.

weight loss cardiff answers:

If she is very lazy and not willing to make some big changes in her lifestyle, then getting a bypass is not the answer for her. It will work at first, but she will just gain the weight back over time. The surgery is just a tool for her to use as she makes the big changes in her life. If she is not willing to do that and make a commitment to change, then it’s not for her. The people you say were successful in their weight loss probably made a big effort to change when they had their surgery. Now if your friend really wants to make a big effort to eat right and do the right thing when she gets the surgery, she might have a chance of it being successful long term. Getting the bypass is no miracle cure for obesity by far. It still takes work and commitment to keep the weight off over time. It does make it easier to do that, but it still takes effort on the part of the person getting the bypass. It doesn’t cure laziness and bad eating habits. That’s up to the person getting the bypass.

Charles asks…

What can you tell me about Weight Loss Surgery?

I am meeting with a doctor next week about weight loss surgery and I was wondering if anyone went through this and can give me some pointers.I have a BMI of 40 and really need this surgery. Any tips? or personal stories? Thank you!

weight loss cardiff answers:

Before you do this, please try what I suggest for 5 days. After the surgery you will be forced to do this anyway, it’s just that if you eat more than a few ounces you will throw up (and isn’t that just bulemia)

I *thought* I had a healthy diet, no fat, high carb, adequate protein & kept getting sicker and fatter. I started Atkins 5 years ago just to get my appetite under control. I am disabled and can’t exercise & I didn’t think it was possible to LOSE weight without hunger and exercise (which was how I always controlled my weight before I was disabled, I NEVER believed in low calorie diets) I started Atkins (didn’t weigh first) and my tight clothes got huge quick (or I shrunk) I have never tried to lose weight and when my calories got too low, I would force (lol, it was tough I tell you) myself to eat an extra 1000 calories a day with strawberry ice cream (cream, frozen strawberries, artificial sweetener and a stick blender) to bring it to 2000 cal a day & I still lost weight (over a hundred pounds) without trying, just making different low carb choices. I can’t worry about my weight until my health is better, but with low carb balancing my hormones, I am starting to heal. My cholesterol & triglycerides are now perfect (they were high before). Dr.Atkins was a cardiologist, low carb was a health plan easier sold as a “diet” Read any of his books for easily understandable science. Lutz “Life without Bread” & Taubes “Good calorie, bad calorie” are excellent books that dispel all the nutrition myths. I’m spreading the word one person at a time! I KNOW it WORKS!

You will lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don’t eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you’ll need added potassium). Keep your fat percentage high. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

If you starve yourself, your body will freak out and will want to store every ounce in case it doesn’t get nourished again. You need to give it adequate nourishment so it doesn’t slow your metabolism down to adjust for lower calories.

Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.

High insulin levels unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.

Reducing body fat and increasing muscle mass will have you in awesome shape in no time. Good luck!

Thomas asks…

What is the best weight loss plan you have found that really worked for you?

Me and my hubby are trying to concieve, but I’ve been told that this probably wont happen unless I lose at least 50 pounds. (told by a doctor not my hubby) My weight is causing an insulin problem which does not allow ovulation. I have started by getting rid of all caffine drinks, and cutting out the sweets. I’m filling my body with plenty of water and walking 20 minutes a day. I know its just a start and will take some time, but does anyone know any good, healthy ways to diet and exercise without hurting your body?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Weight watchers is a great program for weight loss. It really works if you stick with it. And starting out walking 20 minutes a day is awesome, but you’ll have to ramp it up to lose the weight. Find a Jazzercise class in your area. Me and my friends swear by it. Go and have fun and don’t give up, it gets easier the more you do it. There is a woman in my class that has lost 80 pounds with the WW/Jazzercise combo. And I’m working on it, I feel better than I have in my whole life! Good luck!

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Chris asks…

Question about Raw food diet?

What are the benefits of a raw food diet? How will it improve one’s health? What do you eat on this diet? What do you do when you go out with friends to a restaurant or gathering? Thanks.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Raw food diets are based on the simple fact that nature provides your food encapsulated in it’s natural state – raw – and it’s man’s application of fire to it very recently on the evolutionary scale that shifted our perceptions of what food is.

Cooking food, according to raw food philosophy, is unneccesary- your body was shaped through millions and millions of years of evolution, primarily from herbivorous creatures, and only in the last two million years did meat slowly enter our primitive diets, and even then only the last 500,000-200,000 years or so has mankind been bright enough to be successful at hunting, to use fire and tools to their advantage, and to eat meat frequently.

Human beings are animals as well, and animals eat their foods raw. Raw foods contain all the living, vital enzymes and phytonutrients that exist within them. Cooking breaks down nutritional content, kills off the living enzymes that make digestion easier, and kills bacteria – most of which would actually be beneficial to you!

By becoming phobic of bacteria, we’ve actually harmed ourselves more than we realize. Raw food can still be washed and rinsed so there’s nothing gruesome on it, but you don’t need to cook it. Your body builds strength and immunity by ingesting bacteria. People wonder why modern kids are allergic to dust and everything else under the sun – perhaps it’s directly related to how we coat everything with antibacterial lotion and spray and boil the heck out of food to make sure there isn’t a single pathogen crawling on it.

Typically raw food diets are linked to dramatic physical transformations – weight loss, glowing, shiny hair and clearer skin, increase in energy, changes in mood and behavior (for the positive!), decrease in digestion problems (faster digestion, less gas or problems, etc.). Decrease in incidence of cancer, decrease in blood pressure and cholesterol.

I for one enjoy eating raw foods, I enjoy eating food in the state that nature intended for them to be. I have realized that cooking food to the point where it’s unrecognizable from it’s on the vine state is an addiction – the salt, the sugar, the herbs and spices – they all make you want it more and more.

Strawberries are so much sweeter now that I don’t overdose on cookies and cakes and all sorts of processed garbage all day. Natural fruit sugars taste just fine. Celery is high in sodium, it tastes salty again for me, while beforehand I had so much salt in processed foods that I literally had to even salt bread to taste any flavor whatsoever from it.

You will learn to appreciate the goodness and vitality that is in natural, whole food without feeling it has to be zapped and altered beyond it’s natural state somehow. And that’s benefit enough – if you lose some weight or feel better, that’s all the better for you, right?

I’m not a raw foodist, but I eat quite a large portion of my diet raw. It’s kept me thin and helped me bounce back after giving birth to my pre-pregnancy weight, and I’ve been the same weight since I was 17 years old, which is a miracle in itself that I credit to a high quality vegan diet.

I’m vegan and I like steamed vegetables and I cook about 60% of my meals to some extent. But raw foods are great for you, they’re just like nature intended them to be going down into your stomach, so don’t be fooled. You don’t need to be paranoid about germs – in fact worry about germaphobes more than the germs themselves.

P.S. If you want to eat meat on a raw food diet, be careful – most meat in the grocery store has been dead for WEEKS as it’s been shipped around from slaughter house to packing plant to grocery store. While three hundred years ago you could slaughter your own livestock and probably be none the sicker eating something raw, I wouldn’t eat the pathogen-infested meat in stores now.

Obviously, there’s only so far that you can harden your immune system against what you put in your stomach, and I seriously feel nauseous even putting my all-plant groceries down on the conveyor belt after someone put down a blood-soaked tray of ribs beforehand… Meat can cross-contaminate everything in sight.

George asks…

why does diet food seem so nasty?

I need to loose 3 stone, But every diet plan i have looked at seems to be many foods i don’t like!! I don’t eat fish (apart from tinned tuna) i don’t like chickpeas and i don’t eat any red meat. apart from eating rice, chicken, fruit and vegetables there is little foods i will eat. Plus i have the added problem of not being able to eat many acidic foods as it aggravates me (i suffer with serious heartburn) which was the initial reason i put on weight as eating things like bread and crisps seemed to stop the pain. I want to do more exercises which i have a plan that has been given by a fitness instructor. If there is any foods that anyone can suggest i would be most grateful as i am really finding this diet thing hard to find whats right for me
doctor has given me omeprazole (not sure of the spelling) for the acid which keeps it under control until i have ANY acidic foods

weight loss cardiff answers:

Many diet foods are less appealing than other foods because, let’s face it, natural fats and sugars just taste good. And when you take them out of food or eat only foods that are low in these elements, you don’t get the same kick.

If you eat a balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables, I believe that the best way to go about having a healthy diet is to include, in appropriate portions, natural fats and sugars. If you try to strip these out of your diet, you’ll end up always feeling unsatisfied and you’ll just load up on calories from other things. Having a smaller portion of something with normal fat or sugar, along with a salad and an apple or whatever, is more likely to leave you feeling satisfied. There are books out there by people who agree with this view. You might poke around a bookstore or the Internet and see if you can find any by people with appropriate credentials.

In any event, good luck.

David asks…

raw food diet??

my doctor said i need to lose 10 pounds to be alittle more healthy, but recently, ive been having some personal issues and gained some, should i do the raw food diet??

weight loss cardiff answers:

The raw food diet is not like the Atkins diet or similar regimes. It’s about a lifestyle choice whereby you choose to eat mainly raw, unprocessed, uncooked foods.

Modern Western (cooked) diets contain un-naturally high levels of sugar, salt and unhealthy fats.
This is why we have an epidemic of obesity and diabetes.

To lose weight and be more healthy you need to kick any bad eating habits and introduce some regular exercise into your life. I’m not talking about going to the gym twice a day, just simple things like walking to the store instead of driving -taking the stairs instead of the elevator.

The more you get into the habit of doing these things the easier and more instinctive it becomes.

As for the raw food diet, it’s a great way to reach your optimum weight – as long as you don’t lapse back into bad eating habits.

I went approx. 50% raw just a few months ago and I’ve lost about 10 pounds without even trying. I feel much healthier, have loads more energy and no longer crave junk food.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

John asks…

How Much weight can you lose in 2 weeks?

if i stick to a good diet, and exercise for 2 weeks, how many pounds will i lose? will it look like i’ve lost weight?

weight loss cardiff answers:

When my parents lost their jobs we went hungry for about that long, eating very small meals from time to time. I lost 20 pounds.

Chris asks…

How much weight can i lose in 2 weeks?? How??

I need to lose weight in 2 weeks…Please help …!!!! No pills or diet programs like curves, jenny craig or anything like that…

weight loss cardiff answers:

You could lose as much as 15 pounds in 2 weeks SAFELY if you follow these tips:

1. You MUST exercise if you want to lose weight and keep it off, so do something every day, even if it’s just a 15-minute walk around the neighborhood. Don’t say you don’t have time for exercise; you have to MAKE time. Yes, it takes time and effort, but you’re worth it, right?

2. Walk as much as you want, but don’t do cardio for more than 40 minutes at a time. If you do, you risk burning muscle instead of fat. Walking is the preferred exercise for weight (READ: FAT) loss because it burns fat almost exclusively and it burns almost as many calories per hour as jogging. You can also breathe much easier while walking, and walking doesn’t pound the heck out of your ankles, knees, and hips like jogging does.

3. If you do strength training, use light weights and do lots of repetitions. That’ll really help you “tone up.” If you’re at all concerned about your midsection, you’ll need to do abdominal exercises that hit all the major muscle groups (upper abs, lower abs, obliques, transverse abdominis, and back muscles) every other day. WARNING: Ab exercises burn very few calories, so don’t rely on them to burn fat. What they will do is give your gut that “sucked in” look 24/7 if you do them regularly. Google each muscle group with the word “exercises” and you’ll find websites that’ll show you exercises to work that muscle group.

4. Your diet will make you or break you. You have probably learned bad eating habits over time (most people do). That’s not your fault, but now you have to deal with it. Make a commitment to yourself to unlearn those bad habits and re-learn better habits.

5. Eat breakfast every day within an hour of getting up. It kick-starts your metabolism. Studies have shown that people who skip breakfast are 450% more likely to be overweight than those who eat breakfast every day.

6. Eat six small meals or snacks per day instead of three squares per day or one big meal per day. If you eat too much at one sitting, your body stores the extra calories as fat. Go too long between meals and your metabolism slows down. Your body expends energy digesting your food, so eating smaller portions more often keeps your metabolism running high because you’re constantly digesting food.

7. Avoid these as much as possible:

— Trans fat (any type of partially or fully hydrogenated oil)
— High fructose corn syrup (soft drinks are LOADED with it)
— Fast food
— Junk food
— White sugar, white flour, white rice, white potatoes
— The deadly C’s (cookies, cakes, candy, chips, cola)

8. Build your diet around these trim-body-friendly foods:

— Nuts, any kind (almonds are best)
— Beans/Legumes
— Fresh vegetables (green is GREAT!!!)
— Dairy products (as long as they’re low-fat or non-fat)
— Eggs
— Lean meats (fish and poultry top the list)
— Olive oil
— Whole grain breads/cereals/pasta
— Fresh fruits (anything that ends in “berry” is a winner)
— Tea (green tea or black pekoe tea)
— Cold water or ice water (your body has to expend extra calories to heat it up)

9. Desserts and treats are the exception, not the rule. Having said that, however, (1) you can have a couple of pieces of chocolate every day – just don’t overdo, and (2) Allow yourself one “cheat meal” every week where you eat and drink whatever you want as long as you don’t gorge yourself. That’ll help keep you from feeling deprived and it’ll make it easier to stick with your new healthy eating plan.

Good luck!

“The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are first, hard work; second, stick-to-itiveness; third, common sense.”

Linda asks…

Is it possible to lose weight in 2 weeks?

i am going on a last minute holiday in 2 weeks and need to lose a bit of weight and tone up

is this possible in 2 weeks 2 notice some difference in my body?

if so how?

weight loss cardiff answers:

It is enough time to lose 4-5 lbs by combining diet with exercise, but not enough time to produce any real reshaping. Weight loss requires a much longer commitment for that to happen.
