What websites could I go to for exercizes for these body parts ?

1. When I put my pants on I have fat the hangs over my jeans , not sure what thats called but how can I get rid of that ?
2. Thighs – I want to lose weight on my thighs but none off of my butt . What exercizes could do that ?
3. My arms – the humerus ( the part of te arm you can flex )
4. Calves
I’ll take any answers !

weight loss cardiff answers:

For your midsection, that’s what’s unfortunately called “muffin top” because of the way it looks. In truth, that’s just part of belly fat, which is just part of overall body fat. Losing that means losing weight in general — a person cannot spot-reduce or target specific parts to lose fat from. The body burns it all over at the same time.

To balance out your legs and butt, again, that will require general weight loss (a change in lifestyle to eating clean, balanced, and nutritious meals and regular exercise) combined with lower body resistance workouts. That also applies to your lower legs and upper arms.

To lose weight, it takes nothing more complicated than diet & exercise. No pills, powders, or magic potions. No cleanses, no detoxes, no forced anorexia/starvation (pro-ana), none of it. While the plan is easy, sticking to it and seeing results is the tough part that requires patience and realistic expectations.

You didn’t put on the weight overnight, so don’t expect to lose it overnight!

Maintain a calorie deficit of 200-500 calories per day. Yes, that means tracking calories, but if you don’t know what you’re eating, you can’t make adjustments as your body gets thinner and more efficient at what it’s doing.

Aim to lose no more than 1-2 lbs. Per week on average (some weeks you may lose more, some less), don’t weigh yourself every day, and work out 3-4 times a week for at least 30 minutes at a crack.

Incorporate both cardio and weight-lifting routines. Remember that women cannot turn into grotesque bodybuilders by just lifting weights — that requires additional hormone supplements.

For butt exercises: squats & deadlifts. You can start by doing just bodyweight routines (no additional dumbbells), but as it gets easier, add weights or resistance bands.

For calves: calf raises. Again, start with just bodyweight and if it gets too easy, add additional weight.

For arms: curls, tricep extensions, shoulder presses. For those, you WILL need additional weights.

So what is a good amount or number of reps? Anything that will become difficult toward the end. For muscle mass, that means heavy weights at low reps (which means your glutes, or butt). About 8-10 repetitions per set. 2-3 sets is good, but take it easy to start so you know where your limits are.

For muscular endurance, higher reps at lower weights. Anything that makes the last three difficult for 12-15 reps.

And on your exercise days, make sure you fuel up properly. As your body is burning more energy, it will require a little more intake. Calculate your base calorie burn rate using a combination of the calculators below — that’ll give you a ballpark figure. Then you can adjust your daily burn rate by tracking your food and exercise.

Give yourself a few months to get into the groove of this routine, as, again, it will take time, patience, and hard work. But if you stick with it, you can lose up to around 10 lbs. A month without any harmful or unnatural supplements or add-ons or gadgets and gimmicks.

Mary asks…

Would I keep the weight off if I use the lemonade diet and workout?

i plan on doing the Lemonade Diet for 2 weeks, workout 4 out of 7 days [since i do work a lot] and eat fruits, and unsalted mixed nuts. along with water of course, but i really need to lose the weight, i weigh 168 and im 5’3. would i keep the weight off? and has anyone tried the lemonade diet?

weight loss cardiff answers:

No because the starvation lemonade diet teaches your body to manage on fewer calories, so it’s easy to put weight on when you go back to eating normally.
You will be lucky to have the energy to work out while doing the diet.

Purposefully irritating your gastro-intestinal tract is never a good idea, but salt water flushing actually removes healthy, helpful bacteria from the lining of your colon. By engaging in this practice for an extended period of time, you are effectively wiping out one of your first lines of defense against infection and sickness.

In addition, prolonged fasting has many negative side effects, including all the symptoms that go along with malnutrition: insomnia, cravings, nausea, depressed mood, hair loss… The list goes on. Proponants of the Master Cleanse will tell you that these are signs that the toxins in your body are being eliminated, but you would experience the same symptoms on a water-only fast.

Certain useful bacteria being destroyed. Dehydration is a common side effect of the master cleanse diet, as water content in the body is reduced. No new muscles are formed in the body as there is no intake of proteins or carbohydrates during the fast.Insomnia, nausea, depression and craving are other master cleanse dangers.

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Lisa asks…

Raw Food Diet?

Can anyone tell me more about it i saw a special on Dr. OZ Files, whee they took people and fed them raw foods for 12 days and it lowerd alot of their health risks. They gave them some fruits veggies and one olive a day for the salt. I want to know how many veggies i need to eat and how many fruits i need to eat a day. And can i get any feed back from people on it or who have tried it. Would you recommend it to people who have prolems with diets? Is it pretty easy?

weight loss cardiff answers:

I’m such a fan of the raw food diet. I grew up with your typical American fare and was paying for it badly with acne, fat, lethargy, Candida, etc.
Ever since I started combining the right meals, fasting, and eating raw, I’ve become such a healthier person, I’ve lost the fat that I could never get rid of, my skin is clearer and I’m much more energetic.

You should try and get Natalia Rose’s book titled “The Raw Food Detox Diet.” She’s a nutritionist for models, celebs, and TV personalities. You can get her book at Amazon for under $12, so it’s not that pricey.

I totally recommend going raw for anyone struggling with weight issues, food issues, overeating, acne and unhealthy people. It’s easy because you can still eat and you’re not starving or depriving yourself from foods.
Good thing about Natalia’s book is that you can still eat cooked foods, but she recommends to try and do it once a day only – preferably dinner time. So eat raw food in the morning and lunch time – snacks throughout the day are raw too.

Lizzie asks…

A good diet cat food?

My two year old Bombay cat is starting to look fat. Does anyone know a good diet cat food?

weight loss cardiff answers:

If you are feeding a good diet, the problem will usually sort itself out.

Stay away from dry food. Not only it is loaded with carbs, contributing to obesity and diabetes, there are many other health issues that have been linked to dry food, like urinary tract obstructions and renal failure.

Feed all wet diet, high quality. Learn to read the labels. Look for grain free cans that list muscle meat as a fisrt ingredient and contain no byproduct. Good brands are Wellness Core, EVO, Merrick etc.

Learn more about cat nutrition and what they need to keep a healthy weight and avoid health problems below. If you don’t like to read all of them, read at least the fisrt one, it’s very informative and helped me a lot in deciding what I wanted to feed my cat.

And yes, you may have to cut down on the food, feed it about 3 times a day smaller portions.

Best of luck!

Mandy asks…

Can crested geckos live on the diet food.?

I decided that my new pet would be a crested gecko. I was wondering if the can live on there diet food without eating insects and of coarse i would feed it chopped earthworm 2 but would those 2 foods work for my new crested geckos food.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Crested Gecko Diet (CGD) is perfect for them. It’s formulated to provide all the vitamins and nutrients they need to thrive. This should be the main diet offered to them.

They do love to hunt though, so it would be beneficial to offer live food a couple times a month. It will help keep your crestie active and will stimulate the natural hunting instinct that they possess. Crickets would be your best option when offering live prey, but they will readily eat worms as well. Don’t offer worms too often though, as most worms have very little nutritional value and are high in fat. Think of worms as an occasional snack.

Baby food is also great as an occasional treat. I suggest when feeding baby food, to hand feed it to them. This is the perfect opportunity to bond with your crestie and earn its trust. Keep in mind that the baby food should be a tropical fruit such as bananas, peaches or mango.

Hope that helps. Very cool choice too!

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Betty asks…

Does your metabolism slow down while your breastfeeding?

I know that your metabolism slows down while your pregnant in order for your body to suck up as many nutrients as possible. Does your metabolism also slow down while your breastfeeding for the same purpose. If so, could that explain why it’s always harder for me to lose weight while nursing?

weight loss cardiff answers:

Your metabolism doesn’t slow down period in either case, your intestines slow down the peristalsis to allow for greater absorption of nutrients but that’s not your metabolism. When nursing you have lower estrogen levels and relatively higher progesterone levels (in ratio not amount) so it is conceivable your intestines would be slower then as well but they really are not.

Why is it hard to loose weight when nursing? Notice how HUNGRY you are when nursing? It leads to eating, you get enough calories then what is coming in will equal the amount of calories going out.

Thomas asks…

Is there a way to lose weight safely while pregnant?

I know you’re supposed to gain about 25 pounds during your pregnancy, but I was wondering if its safe to lose weight, or at least continue your weight loss work-out during your first trimester. I would like to continue my efforts, but don’t want to do anything harmful. Being healthy is more important than being skinny, right? Thanks for your answers!
Oh, good point, I’m not necessarily overweight. I’m just trying to lose the last 10 pounds and tone up.

weight loss cardiff answers:

Eat smart, and healthy- just don’t diet. Exercising is fine as long as your Doctor hasn’t told you to abstain from it and you are not starting any new intense routines. Swimming or briskly walking for one hour can burn 300-400 calories and can be done safely throughout your whole pregnancy. I personally love walking and I use the Prenatal fitness DVD FitMama. Just be as healthy as you can and you should be fine.

Daniel asks…

Does working out while pregnant help the baby weight come off any faster that if you didn’t work out?

So here’s the deal. Exercising while pregnant has benefits such as stopping extra weight gain, kepping you fit, and keeping the baby healthy. Does it actually aid in weight loss after the baby is born?
What I mean is, will aperson lose weight faster after having a baby if they have been workingout the entire pregnancy as oppose to someone who never worked out? I know there are genetics and what not involved, but just wondering.

weight loss cardiff answers:

I dont know if it will help the weight fall of faster afterwards but it will keep you fit during your pregnancy and in shape to give birth I would just be careful ask your doctor what they think is an ok work out . I am 37 weeks and all she wants me to do now is walk i still sometimes do my pregnancy yoga though . Good luck:)

Your Question About Easy Weight Loss

Helen asks…

Best weight loss options and plans?

Okay so,
I’m only seventeen, but I am turning eighteen in March.
I’m a senior in High school, graduating in June and in college by September.
I know weight loss in only a few months isn’t instant, but I want a long-term plan, not a short-term solution.
I have always been bigger than my female peers, but I was always focused on getting through school, however, now that I am attending college soon, I want to make a change.
A new chapter of my life, a new, healthier, body and self-image to go along with it.
..
What is the best plan or option for losing weight?
I know the basics like metabolism, eating habits, exercise..all that stuff..
I would like to know what plans(Weight watchers, Nutrisystem…ect) would be the best.
Money is a factor, sadly, in my decision.
Cheap is not what I am looking for, I’m just looking for affordable.
Can anyone help?
It would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

weight loss cardiff answers:

From what I hear, Weight Watchers is a really good plan, and the advantage is that you don’t have to buy their food.

If you want to make your own plan, read up on nutrition and put together a plan that is high in vegetables, some animal protein like chicken, fish, eggs, and occasional lean beef, a little bit of whole grains, and some fruit, but no sodas, baked stuff that has sugar, no candy, nothing with corn syrup in it. Eat a handful of nuts instead of pretzels or cookies, and just stay away from stuff that has empty calories. If you’re not on a diet like that right now, you will definitely slim down by going on it. Good luck! Dr. Mercola’s website has a plan for finding your nutritional type, and what to eat on the plan.

Laura asks…

weight loss plan……..?

For the past 3 months i have just been building muscle doing dips, pushups, chin ups etc. Eating a normal diet with alot of carbs, snacks, vegetables, fruit and meats.

Im 5′ 11″ and 165lb, and i want to lose 10lb in 4 weeks. i plan on running 3 miles each day[and continue after loss every 2nd day] and lowering the intensity of my workout.

Whats foods should i eat and when, what is the optimum time to go running morning or afternoon? before or after meals?

weight loss cardiff answers:

!0 pound weight loss in one month is too fast for some one who needs to loose weight. Your weight is normal and you still want to loss 10 lbs. One month is simply not healthy. Running 3 miles burns about 300 calories. Unless you would need to starve yourself. I am not sure why you are trying to trim 10 lbs off a normal weight for you height. That is normal for a male or a female. You just can not afford to loose that much weight. Reconsider please.

Mark asks…

Is this an appropriate weight loss plan?

I just though I would get some advice on my dogs’ weight loss plans.

Dog #1
3yr old Yorkshire Terrier – Sophie – http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y201/chichirme/1-8-09/102_6279-1.jpg . She really is only a tad overweight. She weighs 6.5lbs and she needs to weigh 5lbs, she has gotten a little round through the middle. She gets a 1/4 scoop of http://www.smartpakequine.com/productclass.aspx?productClassid=2543 , 2x per day.

Dog #1
7yr old Chihuahua, Precious – http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y201/chichirme/Christmas%20Pictures/Christmaspictures08066-1.jpg . She is technically obese, weighs 14lbs, needs to weigh 9-10lbs. She gets 1/4 cup in the AM and 1/8 cup with carrots and/or cucumbers in the PM of this http://www.smartpakequine.com/productclass.aspx?productClassid=5774

I would like to set a goal of dropping 2lbs for Precious and 1lb for Sophie in one month, does this sound doable/reasonable?

The girls currently are walking 1 mile a day. Sophie loves every minute of it and probably could go longer, Precious hates every minute of it but goes along with it because Sophie does. Precious is usually panting by the end of the walk but is not exhausted.

I would like to add 1/2 a mile to a walk per week, does that sound okay or is that asking too much?

Thanks for any comments/advice!

PS. I have an appointment made with the vet for their annual physical next month and we will discuss what we are doing with him.

weight loss cardiff answers:

The trick with weight loss is to use more kilojoules than are taken in. While increasing their exercise is great, you will need to re-examine what they eat and make sure that no-one is feeding them ‘snacks’ .

I raw fed and the amount to feed is based on ‘ideal’ adult weight. The approximate ratio is 2-3% per day – toys often need 3-4% as they are quite energetic. As your dogs really are quite overweight they would still lose weight at the 4% amount.

So your yorkie would need 5 x 0.03 = 0.2 lbs (or about 90 grams) per day and your chi at 10lbs double that amount. Not only will your dogs end up with much cleaner mouths, they will get a lot a sastifaction from their ‘real’ meals.
